New sod and more back fill added on Jan 31,2024 this picture taken April 29, 2025
    Daryl D.

So after posting my review of this company back in December 2024 and multiple emails requesting a solution. I was finally contacted on Dec 31st. by one of the work team supervisors telling me they were available on the Dec 31st to come and address the issues with their previous work. I have added before and after photos for review. As you can see, the yard looks much better after shaming them on social media. Never once did Michael Ware, who was the person who originally came out and sold me on HIS service, ever contact me to offer assistance. Instead, he chose to hide behind his customer service and production people. While I am now more satisfied with how my yard looks, I would probably look elsewhere for this type of service, knowing how they act after they have your money.

Water still drying but couldn't wait to take pics!!

We worked with Ware Landscaping to convert our Asphalt driveway into our dream driveway. We sat down with Michael Ware and showed him our cobblestone inspired Driveway Design. My wife Amy and I had a short but decisive design session of what the driveway should look like and she chose a chick european cobblestone pattern that you can see successfully executed in the pictures. Mike took our design/color directions and followed them closely with his crew. His crew had copies of the design drawings that we have made in our first meeting and made the design COME TO LIFE in a few days of install!! They even made the design cleaner with suggesting slight cleaner professional adjustments in the field to touch up the design. Their foreman Charlie was a pleasure to work with too, he drove the field adjustments and improvements to make it all better. Regarding robustness, the surrounding of the driveway has plenty of gravel/paver compacted base (a foot, maybe more), strong paver edging plus a poured concrete border to make it last. They filled up surrounding gaps (minimal gaps given their know-how) with soil and sod to make it seamless. The installation crew was a pleasure to watch working, they were hard working, clean, left everything in place every day. No surrounding areas were damaged or sunk by the machinery. Just look at the pictures!! (not professional pictures nor photo-shop nor a sunny pretty day but still looks great) We recommend Ware Landscape for your hardscape ideas and designs, they will make your investment worth every dollar.

My February invoice showing how many times salting and snow clearing occurred in just a few days with very little snowfall.

Should have read the reviews more closely. The requirement to pre-salt (non-negotiable) led to over 25 applications at $39/per despite having to clear snow for just 11 snow events ( 4 of which are on successive days (see invoice attached). They even salted before snow events which were immediately preceded by rainfall. Talk about a waste of money. It has cost me nearly $2000 when the total snowfall here has been lass than 15 inches. Shame on me.

They do whatever the person who pays them asks them to do with no concern towards the adjoining neighbour or the law. So they drilled rock into the back of our neighbor's yard to make it more dry during the pandemic and took out every single one of our fence posts ($2000 to rebuild fence). They leaned over our back fence and trimmed our back trees to the point that one became a tall stump with no top (it still exists, as a tall growing stump). And, they've trimmed my beautiful Maple tree on our side yard to the point that it started to lean on our garage, once again with their workers leaning over the fence line. I had to hire a service yearly to try to balance out their trimming, but they lean over my fence line about 3 feet into our tree and leave the tree branches on our side. I don't know if they know anything about Illinois laws regarding tree trimming--I'm guessing not. The icing on the cake was seeing their men on my driveway treating my front yard, without my permission, on camera, only because my neighbour (who has residency in Turks and Caicos Islands) asked them to put weed killer on my front yard. Unethical company. My tree company will not touch trees belonging to the neighbors. They've also installed a sprinkler in our front yard (?!) I had to put in a front yard fence to keep them off my lawn. I now have outside cameras and I've given them notice that I'm recording their workers (who of course all don't speak English no offence) trespassing on our yard. I get it -- neighbors can be not so great, but it's amazing what this company will do, in the name of making a buck. It's not like any of this would have happened if a normal landscaping company with ethics was doing the work. Something really is "off" re this company and when I try to speak to their workers, none of them will speak to me. I have to contact the owner every single time via phone or email. Who leaves workers with a tree elevator that lifts them up, with no English speaking person on the crew, and then they're lifting the person over the neighbor's fence to trim the neighbor's trees and I have zero time to even stop them. They only stop, actually, if you start videotaping them. And, then, they wait, and continue, if they think you're gone. Anything goes!

Keith listened to my needs, shared his ideas, showed pictures, and quoted accordingly. Keith promised a clean and professional result and Morlock delivered on that promise. In short, I am very happy with my patio. The pavers look nearly new and when water hits the patio, the water beads off the surface and runs away from the house. The surface is not slippery at all. The provided images don't do the actual work justice. If you live in their service area, call Morlock Landscape & Design. Once Keith puts eyes on your project and get talking, you too will be sold on Morlock's expertise.

He showed up to evaluate a remodel for our front yard. Jim is very smooth and highly professional and very knowledgeable. He did his evaluation of our front yard on September 6 and said he would get back to us with plans and an estimate in a week or so. After no word for several weeks we reached out to his office and they responded by saying someone would be in contact for a presentation. That was September 22. Still heard nothing back. In Early December, we called back to his office. Didn't get a live person but left a message stating if they were not interested in our project just let us know so we could move on. Well now its January and still no response. I'm sure he does great work because I've seen his projects and completed work. It is high quality and beautiful. I suspect our project wasn't big enough for Jim or wouldn't generate enough revenue for him. And that's ok, but have the decency to get back to us and tell us. This is a quote from their web site: Jim Rose began his landscape experience as a young man working on his parent's patio at the age of 17. Jim realized quickly he had what it took for quality craftsmanship and detailed design. He went on to earn a degree from Eastern Illinois University in Science. During his college years, he continued to do small landscape projects using the skills he learned while working in the industry. His attention to detail and quality workmanship were evident even during those early years. With much prayer and thoughtful encouragement from his family, he chose to try his hand at self-employment in the Green Industry. It makes Jim seem like the all-American guy. But I guess for some reason he chose to never respond back to us. Thankfully, we have choices and I guess we will look for someone else who is interested in us little people. Funny thing, we were actually prepared to spend a lot of money to redo the entire front of our home.

We moved to the suburbs about 3 years ago and I am pretty useless when it comes to anything close to landscaping having spent all my life in big city high rises. We live on the Dupage river now so if there was anything we would have wanted to spend money on, it would have been the back yard but my frequent annoyance with our driveway and my incorrect assumption:) that it would be a smaller project lead us to Jim Rose. We went with Jim even after paying another company $2500 in design fees as in the end it boils down to your comfort level and Jim's confidence, flexibility, creativity and easy going personality won us over. It started with the design and budget. We tried to negotiate into our ball park and in the end we ended up spending 6% over our budget mostly because we changed our mind on something or did not account for certain items such as light fixtures and sprinklers. The job included a complete transformation of our front yard, removal of concrete (an external gut job)new pavers, expansion of driveway, a new custom mailbox, lighting upgrade, sod, a front paver patio, new plants/trees, sprinklers .... The Works. All this cost us a fortune and Jim was honest and upfront that his services are not cheap. Our main surprise was that the personable small business approach underscores how big an operation he is running. JR has most of the workers on payroll so there is very little subcontracting hence getting people to come over to address any of our concerns was painless. Jim was extremely responsive and we interacted via text and phone calls. Our front yard is now the centerpiece of our neighborhood and almost all the neighbors have stopped by completing us on a beautiful job. If you are like us with very few creative ideas-about what you want and looking to put your faith in a reputable company that takes pride in their work then Jim Rose is your guy. I have posted some before and after pics that certainly don't do full justice to this art work given my bad picture taking abilities on my phone. Also, apologies for the long review but i hope that it can help someone who is about to spend 10's of thousands of dollars and picking the right company is the most important decision in this process..
