Then, he began working at my next door neighbors house and I was really able to watch the work ethic, quality and creativity happen as this job was being completed in the front of the house. I watched them cut the stone, put a level on every brick as they laid it, clean the area up at the end of the day and finally complete that job. As I watched that work quality, I knew that I had found the contractor that I wanted to remodel the tired and leaning flagstone wall as well as pavers that were dated as well. I really enjoyed working with Salinas Landscaping on my hardscape repair project. Our 13 year old paver patio was in need of significant repair and maintenance. The patio had received no maintenance in 13 years. Time had taken a toll. Seat walls had shifted, the patio and walkway were uneven and sinking, the steps to the patio from the yard were uneven, the step into the house was uneven, the sand between the pavers had deteriorated and weeds were rampant. Everything needed a good cleaning too. Bad enough that I am too embarrassed to post a 'before' photo. I contacted Salinas Landscaping one rainy Sunday afternoon via their website. I received a quick response and was able to schedule a visit for an estimate the same week. The estimate process was informative and made me confident in their ability to handle my project. I received a clear written proposal a few days later. The price was very fair. It took me another month to make my decision to move forward with the project. I had a few follow-up questions and was able to quickly schedule a follow-up site visit on a Friday. My additional questions were addressed and we were able to schedule the project to begin the following Monday. On Monday, the project was underway at 8am. A crew of four men (all were very pleasant; willing to answer questions and were clearly skilled and experienced) set about the work. Two full days and two part days later, the hardscape has been beautifully repaired and rejuvenated. Our old wooden deck was no longer functional and we decided to remove it and use cement pavers. The area to cover was approximately 15'x17' and in front of our back door entry. Salinas landscaping provided an estimate to complete the job in line with what several other landscapers did. What we found as impressive is he gave a very detailed explanation of what needed to be done, and how he would do that. He also discussed how he would provide proper sloping and drainage to draw water away from the house foundation. His crew showed up on time and worked quickly and efficiently. I can't believe the reviews I am reading on yelp are the same company I am dealing with. We had a retaining wall that needed to be replaced after this last winter. We had three quotes on this job and decided the best choice was Salinas Landscaping Inc. There price was great and Mr. Salinas came out for the original quote and two more times to answer some questions. He went through all the details with us which made us feel very comfortable going with them. The worked with us on our schedule and started a week after we signed contract on May 2019. The crew doing the work was excellent. They were all very had workers, professional, very detailed and took get care of the surrounding landscape and they cleaned up at end of each day. The new wall looks great and we know it will be here for a very long time. We could not have picked a better contractor for this and we will be using them again soon for other work. Any landscaping work, this is the man to call. Jose is very punctual and detail oriented. He responses to all calls fast. He has an excellent crew who work hard and do wonderrful work. They would stop at designated points and have me come to review what they had done and then discuss the next task. Very customer focused. I had a large empty area where I had a tree taken down and didn't know what to plant - he is an amazing designer and came up with a great set of bushes, grasses and other plantings. He even was able to split up some of my existing hosta to plant in other areas - he won't just sell you anything, he does not want to waste any existing plants so he moved those around for me. Bad business practice all around. They are refusing to come back and complete the job, stating that they are too busy and the finish work is not big enough job for them. I had used Salinas a couple of years ago for some light landscaping and they did a fairly good job -- small plantings and heavier rock beneath the front yard window. However, when I asked for an estimate for removing two snow/ice damaged shrubs and some additional small plantings and rock for the back yard... I didn't get a call back after he had come out to take a look. So, a few days later when I did call (thinking they had gotten very busy), he said, through his office secretary/staff person, that "he didn't call back because my job was too small". I was furious!!! We were preparing our home to sell and I wanted it to look nice. So, who did I return to? Salinas. When I was told the job was too small (he couldn't call me back himself, I guess), I couldn't believe it. I know we do not have a big lot, but what happened to the " provide you with the friendly customer service that you deserve" part that appears on his About Us page? Unbelievable!!! So, I am "un-recommending" Salinas to everyone, including the soon-to-be buyers of our home. As one other comment reads here on Yelp... bad business practice!! You got that right. DO NOT USE SALINAS!!!! I recommend trying another company with a 4-5 star rating.
