There's nothing that annoys me more than B&B operators who feel they have to be so nice and helpful that they smother you. The Lititz House wasn't like this at all. John and Heidi, the owners, made us feel like we were visiting friends, but were very professional and competent at the same time. Not an easy trick to pull off. The rooms were cozy, with bathrooms for all. Keeping in mind this is a 100 year old house, the retrofitting is mostly seamless. A couple of the bathrooms were on the small side, but no smaller than your own house. Breakfast was excellent, and the coffee and juices are a standout. (I know that sounds silly, but they were fantastic)

There was a desk and TV as well. We were in a bit of a time crunch - staying for a wedding with the shuttle and check-in times colliding - and Bridget was able to check us in early! While she couldn't promise early access (I assume this is standard), it was clear that the staff went above and beyond to ensure we could check in and make the shuttle. Everyone was friendly. I thought we were missing towels (despite staring directly at them) and the front desk brought them up within 2 minutes of me calling. My mistake!! But they were so attentive and helpful. Breakfast from 6-10 - your basic suspects - is a nice perk. Would definitely recommend this place to a friend if they needed a room for the night.

The hotel is under renovation, so instead of the lazy contractors cleaning up after themselves, they inconvenience the hotel guests by locking all the doors and elevators to all the other entrances, so you are forced to use the one and only in the lobby and being put in the last room at the end of the hallway, it's a 1/4 mile walk. So if you go to bed early this may be an important factor. Rooms didn't really have a refresh. I was lucky if trash was taken out and we got new towels without asking. Not a bed made once. I miss those days of coming back to a nicely made bed. I guess those days are long gone? Also, the week we were there lots of kids which were running around the lobby like it was a playground. I would like to preface this review with the fact that I have been in service my entire life,…read moreincluding managing a hotel myself. I currently work for American Airlines at the Charlotte Douglas Airport. The front desk agent Matt - caused me to walk away from a prepaid reservation and pay to stay at the Hilton Hershey property instead. Which was amazing, by the way! I had a reservation for 6/15, and had called the week before to reconfirm an early check in. After working my 8-9-hour shift, I drove over 7 hours straight to Hershey PA to take my elderly mother to a concert at Hershey Stadium. Once arriving at the Fairfield, Matt brusquely replied that I did not have a reservation. I explained to him that a Marriott Vacation Club Member had gifted me the room and it was registered in my name as well as theirs. He then "found it" and told me there would be no early check in although I had confirmed, and I would have to wait until after 4pm. Mind you it is 11am, and at this point I have been awake well over 24 hours and am feeling faint. He was so nasty, I took a step back to take a calming breath. He was then so rude to the next lady (in front of her children as well) that she exclaimed "is this how you treat Marriott Bonvoy Members? WOW!" I knew I was unable to reason with this individual, and I was too exhausted to escalate the issue. So, I simply left and took my business elsewhere. I called today after some thought on the matter, hoping to give grace, and it was Matt who answered the phone. He was disdainful, snide, would not provide me with the GM's name or email and disconnected the call. I called Marriott Bonvoy myself and got the information I needed. Matt is ABSOLUTELY NOT the person Guests should EVER see and interact with upon entering a Marriott property. A welcoming smile and spirit of kindness is necessary in our industry. Matt has none of these qualities. Like I relayed to Corporate, Matt is most definitely a cause of loss of revenue for this location. On a more positive note, Zira and Melisa at The Hampton Inn Hershey saved the day! Highly recommend!!!

I wanted to enjoy my stay at the Lancaster Inn and Suites in Lancaster PA but unfortunately the…read moreexperience fell short in several important areas. While the location itself is convenient and the staff was generally polite this hotel is clearly in need of attention and updates. The room was very poorly lit which immediately made it feel uninviting and uncomfortable. Even during the daytime the lighting was so dim that it was difficult to see clearly without turning on every available lamp. At night it felt even worse creating a gloomy atmosphere that made the room feel smaller and older than it should have. One of the biggest disappointments was the couch in the room. It was visibly broken and sagging making it unusable for sitting or relaxing. For a hotel that advertises suites this was especially frustrating since the extra space should be functional and comfortable. Instead the furniture felt worn out and neglected as if it had been ignored for far too long. Overall the room and the property feel outdated and in need of a serious refresh. From the furniture to the lighting and general condition it seems like basic maintenance and modernization have been put on the back burner. Cleanliness was acceptable but that alone does not make up for the lack of comfort and the obvious wear and tear throughout the room. This stay was not terrible but it was far from enjoyable. With proper updates better lighting and replacement of damaged furniture this hotel could be much better. Until then it is hard to justify anything more than a two star rating.
