a plate of pancakes with butter and syrup

This place is local and it's been around since about 1981 (and the decor reflects it). I'm surprised it just came on my radar within the last year. The hours at this place are limited and it's a little off the beaten path so you have to plan your visit. My husband and I decided to visit after prayer one Saturday. We got there about 30 minutes before closing time, and were greeted warmly and received prompt service. This was definitely a plus. Our server's name was Kristi and she was quite pleasant. My husband decided to order pancakes, smoked sausage and eggs. I tried the pancakes and they were pretty good. I chose a traditional type breakfast as well. I had a grilled pork chop, eggs, grits, and biscuits. My food was just OK to me. The pork chop did not have any seasoning on it. Overall, it was a decent place with a homey feeling. Because I'm not a huge breakfast person in general, perhaps one day I'll go back and try a lunch option. I don't think it'll be anytime soon though.

I love a good diner. When I was told about this spot, I had to try. Some of the meal offerings change daily and then there are some staples. I burdened the Cajun baked catfish and it came with three hearty sides! I ordered the fried okra, fried eggplant, and some Mississippi mud (a cheesecake/chocolate moose-like dessert). The portions were hearty and good! The eggplant had powdered sugar on it, which was unique and also tasty. I could only eat about half of everything that I ordered, and had I been home I would have taken it for dinner. The staff treated everyone like family- knowing their regulars and what their choices would be. It's a little old fashion in appearance- but the look fits the feel.

Delicious breakfast and fantastic service!! We've been coming here since the 1980's for breakfast and lunch and have never been disappointed. No place can cook perfect like this place does. The pancakes are so delicious and the hashbrowns don't come from a box, they are freshly grated and cooked perfectly. The grits were good and creamy and the bacon was nice and crispy. Service is great and friendly. You seat yourself and you pay up front on the way out. The coffee is good and always fresh. They also have have home cooked lunches, burgers, soups and fresh made salads. They open at 5AM Monday thru Saturday and they are closed on Sundays. This place is really good so come give them a try.

Two eggs over easy with crisp hash browns, Patty sausage, biscuit and one yummy pancake.

I had not gone to Warehouse restaurant in quite a while. I used to go fairly often when my dad but when he passed away it sort of made me sad to go. Enough times past that I was craving a great breakfast and stopped by. As tasty as always and reasonably priced. Something about their pancakes are light and fluffy and have a hint of something that makes them more spongy and cloud-like than pancakes from other places. Eggs cooked just the way I like them over easy. Ask for hash browns, I only like the shredded type, extra crispy and that's how they came. Great Patty sausage too. Very reasonably priced place. Note: they are only open for breakfast on Saturdays. Monday through Friday they're open for breakfast and lunch only. They're on Choctaw which is an industrial area so their primary clientele other than people like me who have discovered them seems to be nearby Blue collar businesses. If you've never been I definitely recommend it

Hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, butter beans and fried okra.

So I discovered this gem about a month ago. Although it's been there over 30 years I was not aware simply because it's in a section of town I rarely frequent. One day I was traveling on South Choctaw when I saw a parking lot filled with cars at this restaurant. It was early morning. So I continued about my business and decided to stop by and try their breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised by the service and the food. Very good. So I went again on the following day for lunch. Oh my gosh. They serve a choice of about 5 selections of daily lunches with choices of sides. The food quality is over the top and serving sizes are huge- so go hungry. My wife was in the Philippines at the time but has since returned. So today she and I visited the restaurant for lunch. She decided to order off the menu ( shrimp poboy) and I ordered the hamburger steak lunch with sides of mashed potatoes and gravy, butter beans, and okra. I ate way too much food. This restaurant caters to the working class in the area and the food is home style cooking and very good. The staff know their patrons by first name as many are regulars. I like this place very much and would recommend it to you.

It's Simple as the name suggests…read more Nothing fancy or elaborate about this place. It's a small restaurant with a small open kitchen and a small dining room where you stand in line to place your order, get a number to put on your table, and servers bring the food to your table when it's ready. So, if you're looking for a large upscale, elegant restaurant with elaborate food presentations, this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for a simple, quick and delicious meal, Simple Joe Café is for you. The menu consists of a wide variety of breakfast favorites, but the menu is not intimidating and easy to read and order from. Simple enough. When my family and I arrived, the small dining room was packed with a few open tables and about six other customers in line waiting to place their order. On Saturday and Sunday, you cannot sit at the open tables or hold the tables until you have placed your order and given a tent number. At that point, the servers will help you find a table to accommodate your party. The employees do a very good job of clearing and turning over the tables to make sure everyone is seated and able to enjoy their meal in a timely manner. I am not a fan of breakfast food and normally don't eat breakfast, so I only had coffee while my family enjoyed their meal, so the food quality part of this review is based on what they described as they were eating. They each ordered Joe's Number One Breakfast Combos which came with two eggs, choice of meat and pancakes and they shared an order of hashbrown and a side of grits. The food came out quickly. They stated everything was fresh, prepared and cooked as requested, the food tasted very good and enjoyed every bite. Of course, the coffee was hot, and fresh and the service was fast and friendly. The relaxed ambience and decor add to the unique character of the restaurant. Date of Visit: Saturday 05-16-26 Simple Joe Café | 3057 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA

This place is awesome…read more I ended up here the other day not because I planned ahead. Instead, I was trying to meet a friend for lunch and he was so late that we couldn't get in where were trying to go. I saw the sign and off we went to Simple Joe Cafe. Simple, it is. Awesome food, it also is. This place is not fancy nor is it meant to be. This is a solidly Americana type menu and ordering at the counter, serving your own coffee, and picking your own table kind of place. AKA - the kind of place I love. I have been here a few times now and only had breakfast. Hint: they serve it all day. The two meat omelet is a great choice and has been my go-to. The other day some friends got burgers and a club sandwich and those looked great too. This will definitely be in the rotation for lunch.

I'm a critic of Poboy bread, but this one I love. I don't bother to get fries, but since these are included (and quite yummy), I gobble them up too! I hope to try the breakfast menu one day but haven't found myself in the area at that time yet. As far as I can tell, Cafe Jeanpierre is a one woman show! Again, I've only been there twice, but both times it's just the owner. She's quick to get the orders made and polite. No small talk, but that's perfectly okay. She also has lots of plants she tends to in the window that I love to admire. I first heard about this cafe several years ago in the news, so I'm glad I've finally doin it and been able to appreciate the awesome reputation. It's located in a strip mall on a major road, so make sure to GPS it to not miss it! I definitely recommend supporting this local biz; trust me, your tastebuds will thank you!
