We go to Elsie's frequently. All of my photos are from numerous visits. I typically get the Boudin or Bayou BQQ Burger however, I also like their Avocado Sandwich. My Wife typically gets their Natchitoches Meat Pies or Poulet Pot Pie. We also love their brussel sprouts and pies, the Eye of the Tiger being our favorite. They also have a good selection of drinks and beers. For some reason the smell of this place reminds me of an elementary or middle school cafeteria. The service is typically okay. The waiters/waitresses are typically quiet and very short verbally or super friendly, no in between imo. Elsie's also has very good sweet tea. The tea actually tastes like tea if that makes sense. As if they use better quality tea or brew it differently than most restaurants.

This was my first time going and I will be back! The food was so good! My boyfriend the pork chop and it was very good seasoned well and not dry at all! It had a nice blueberry glaze and it definitely topped it off! The side he chose was red beans and the red beans were very good too and seasoned very well! I ordered the raspberry lemon martini and it was very good as well! Very strong and much needed lol the presentation was everything! Very nice, simple, and delicate! I also ordered the hot crawfish melt with fries and it was to die for! Omg the cheese pull was amazing! The crawfish were seasoned well and I loved the different cheese they incorporated in the sand which! The service was good as well our waiter was super nice and very open to any questions we had regarding the menu. She definitely gave good recommendations since it was my first time! The ambiance of the place was nice as well! It's definitely very spacious but seems very homey too! Overall! I give it a 10/10 and I will definitely be back! Can't wait to try something different!

The food was good, definitely would go back for that, however the restroom facilities were pretty sketchy. When traveling with a small kid, bathrooms are important too and it does kinda ruin the experience with food if the bathroom is kinda gross because you wonder about the staff. I'm hoping it was a one off.

Still great, continues to be a must visit, along with Mestizo Louisiana Mexican Restaurant on every pass through "Red Stick". As the saying goes, it takes an hour to get from Baton Rouge to Baton Rouge. And pie makes it better. Get the pie flight. Get the boudin melt. Waitstaff and ambiance were spot on.

Just felt a bit underwhelmed. The savory pies (the chicken & beef/pork) were just a bit flavorless. The burger was just not very amazing either. The redeeming point was their apple pie with vanilla ice cream. So good and so fresh.

First time at Elsie's and I can definitely say it won't be the last! I've been hearing how good it is and they did not disappoint. We had about a 15 minute wait for a table for 2 on a Friday night. Our waitresses were so tentative and kind! We started with the boudin cakes! Really tasty with the avocado cream sauce. My husband kept wishing there were more than two! lol For entrees, I tried the crawfish hand pie and Brussel sprouts, along with a berry kick side salad! Everything was good. I particularly liked the fried jalapeños on the salad!! My husband ordered the Big Plate, includes fish, shrimp, and stuffed shrimp. The fish was fried so perfectly, just needed a few more shakes of seasoning! The remoulade sauce really shined and made the fish taste better. We finished with 2 desserts! The apple pie with ice cream and the turtle were both great! Overall, our experience was amazing! Our waitresses really anticipated our needs the entire night! We'll definitely be back for seconds!

This is a MUST go type place when in Baton Rouge! Such unique and oh soooo good dishes. Their pies are what they are known for and all that I get and you really cannot go wrong with any of them. They have dessert pies and lunch/dinner pies and their lunch/dinner pies take the cake for me (and I am a dessert guy). The place is not big, but they always seem to get people in/out quick so there is never much of a wait. The service is great and they always take great care of you!! The place is clean and cozy inside. It is small, but arranged so that you never feel crammed.

Named after "Ma" Elsie known for their history and Baton Rouge's best brunch! I dropped in for a sampling of dishes (faster seating at the bar where friends and service are front-row!) - the Cajun Crawfish Queso is a fan favorite and a tourist's wonder with pork rinds instead of traditional chips. If you didn't bring friends, you'll be sure to make some ordering this dish! Why not make it a double with the Louisiana Poulet Pot Pie - hot out of the oven with flaky crust, savory cream sauce, and pulled smoked chicken. I always close the sampler with dessert, and Eye of the Tiger (sweeter than it sounds, lemon ice-box pie topped with blueberry whip) delivers on all counts! First visit was a delight, looking forward to my return!

The food was amazing and the service matched. Grey, the young lady working the bar, was attentive to customers' needs, delivering drinks just as people were finishing their last one. The pies they are known for did not disappoint I had the lemon box pie with blueberry whipped cream. I will be back the next time I make it to Baton Rouge!

This place was amazing, we loved everything we had and could not stop talking about it. It is a small spot with a small parking lot but it is worth the wait. We would definitely go back if in the area again.

seafood pot pie and honey chop

We tried Elsie's Plate & Pie and it did not disappoint! I had the seafood pot pie and it was absolutely amazing, rich, flavorful, and packed with seafood in every bite. My husband ordered the honey chop and really enjoyed it as well. Everything was delicious, comforting, and full of flavor. We'll definitely be back!

From what I hear, Elsie's gets packed. That was not the case on a sunny Saturday mid-afternoon, but it was still decently busy. We were seated quickly, and skipped drinks. Elsie's, known for their pies, carries versions that are both savory and sweet in addition to a large menu of Southern-style comfort dishes with Cajun and Creole flavors. I got the seafood lafourche bisque and the blackened catfish sandwich. My friend got the honey chop, and we also shared the seafood pot pie. The seafood bisque: made with plenty of seafood bites is a super flavorful bisque broth - recommend! The honey chop: tender pork chop in their signature pepper jelly bbq - highly recommend! Seafood Pot Pie: I can see why they're known for pies! While on the heavier side, it was deliciousness in every bite - highly recommend. -- The blackened catfish sandwich: not worth it. Almost seemingly an afterthought on the menu... the blackened catfish itself was tasty but the simplicity of the lettuce, tomato and white bread (ok, sourdough) did not bring it together and was super bland and plain - do not recommend. It would have been better if they had a blackened catfish dish rather than this sandwich. -- Unfortunately service was also really slow. Our drinks (waters) and seafood bisque came out quick but we waited 35-40 minutes for the rest of our food. Our server informed us that the honey chop would be 20 minutes, which we were okay with, but after 35 minutes we were growing more and more impatient, especially given that it wasn't too busy at the time and our server never acknowledged the long delay. Inside, it's an industrial look and feel and on the trendier side. And even with setbacks, I'd definitely come back for their pies, and avoid the catfish sandwich.

Cute place! Staff very nice! Been for breakfast and now dinner. I enjoyed dinner much more. Ordered: Smokey 3 Cheese Pimento: so good! Highly highly recommend Louisiana Poulet Pot Pie: very good! The top crust was nice and the rest was a little spicy but the flavors were amazing The Boudin Burger: falls apart in your hands. Nice flavor! Eye of the Tiger Pie: it was fine. I was hoping for more of a lemon flavor. And blueberry flavor in the whipped cream

The ube cookies were the only items that didn't blow my mind as the ube flavor was lost amongst the food coloring and white chocolate chips. The ube ice cream however was solid, with a mild and lightly sweet earthy flavor similar to taro or matcha. 8/10 recommend especially if you've never had bingsu or ube. It came warm in a giant cappuccino mug and I don't even think she steamed the milk (the picture is actually how it came, I didn't touch it yet). They pride themselves on their coffee and I was impressed that they even had a flat white on the menu so I had high hopes. I also ordered the poached egg on the biscuit which came out as a hard boiled egg on top of a stale biscuit. I asked for an egg that wasn't " hard-boiled" and guess what came back on top... a mini quiche. I could see the confusion though, the cook probably thought that I wanted an egg prepared a different way than before. Anyway, the cheese on it wasn't even melted and the arugula was slimy like cooked spinach. Coffee egg cheese biscuit arugula . The only thing I ate was the old dry bacon. One out of five elements of that was edible. On another note, the atmosphere is very nice and it has a cool vibe. It has a really good potential, just poorly executed.
