Boudin balls with Bedford and remoulade sauces.
    Brooke S.

I wish I could leave a better review! Quite disappointed, sadly. Very clean and very cute!! I've heard amazing things from multiple reviews and was so excited. (Visiting from out of town). Expected a wait, 20 minutes, no problem! Another 15 to place our order, and another 25 to receive our food. We were there over an hour before we got any food. Ooffff... it's fine. We're laid back and can roll with the punches-they're busy and staff was friendly-it'll all be worth it when the food rocks our socks. Sadly...no. Both grilled cheeses (entrees) were room temp and the cheese was already hardening. It felt as if they had forgotten to deliver the food. Waitress was so kind and took the one off our check. It was appreciated. Boudin balls were great!! Bedford and remoulade sauces were okay. Parmesan potatoes were good!! Brussel sprouts and fries were fine-would have been better if served hot, I think. We did the pie flight and they were all good. Not mind blowing, but good. I always give out second chances-public service and food service is tough and sometimes you just have off days. Worth checking out if you live in town!! But if you're just passing through, maybe just get some pie to go.

    Chicken pot pie

Came into town to visit LSU and Elsie's was recommended as one of the best places to eat in Baton Rouge. After 6 hours of traveling I was up for anything!! We arrived on a Sunday at 11:45am. So right in the middle of the brunch rush. We were quoted a35 minute wait but was seated sooner. We ordered lunch. I got the chicken pot pie my partner got the bbq bayou burger and we split an order of the crawfish pie with red beans and rice. Both plates were served with a salad. Service was great! Jack was our server. He made some excellent recommendations!! The chicken pot pie had a kick to if so fyi....Everything was delicious!! Turns out we got and order of the boudin pie instead of the crawfish pie but it was delicious! He did bring us out a crawfish pie to try (not pictured) and it was also excellent!! The red beans and rice were the best I've had. And I've done a red beans and rice tour in NOLA and this was the best I've had!! We rounded out our meal with the Eye of the Tiger pie. And holey moley!!! The best finish to our meal!! They also have a great craft beer selection on draft. The only downside to this place is the parking is not great and there are only two bathrooms that are unisex. But heck....I'll be back every time I visit BR!!

We go to Elsie's frequently. All of my photos are from numerous visits. I typically get the Boudin or Bayou BQQ Burger however, I also like their Avocado Sandwich. My Wife typically gets their Natchitoches Meat Pies or Poulet Pot Pie. We also love their brussel sprouts and pies, the Eye of the Tiger being our favorite. They also have a good selection of drinks and beers. For some reason the smell of this place reminds me of an elementary or middle school cafeteria. The service is typically okay. The waiters/waitresses are typically quiet and very short verbally or super friendly, no in between imo. Elsie's also has very good sweet tea. The tea actually tastes like tea if that makes sense. As if they use better quality tea or brew it differently than most restaurants.

Elsie's Plate & Pie absolutely knocked it out of the park! Every single thing we tried was incredible. The sandwiches were fresh and packed with flavor, the pot pies were rich, creamy, and pure comfort food, and the appetizers were the perfect start to the meal. The whipped Parmesan mashed potatoes deserve their own standing ovation. They were unbelievably creamy, cheesy, and easily some of the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. And don't even get me started on the sweet pies... BOMB! They were the perfect ending to an already amazing meal. To top it all off, our waitress, Sophie C, was an absolute gem! She was friendly, attentive, and made sure our entire experience was perfect from start to finish. If you're anywhere near Baton Rouge, do yourself a favor and eat at Elsie's Plate & Pie. We'll definitely be back for the food the people and the ambiance!

    Hot crawfish melt

We stopped in for lunch on our road trip, and luckily we got in around opening because it was packed for the 4th holiday. We sat at the bar and got great service there. The crawfish melt was so cheesy and the roasted jalapeños weren't overwhelmingly spicy. We also got the Brussels and the Parmesan potatoes and both had that home cooking quality. There's a reason this place is so popular the food is delicious!

Walked into a packed restaurant it was nice to see how many people were there I had the LZ hot dog as a July 4th special. We also had the Crawfish melt which was really good. We got a tequila Blackberry sunrise which was delicious. The food came out relatively quick and the staff was nice

This was my first time going and I will be back! The food was so good! My boyfriend the pork chop and it was very good seasoned well and not dry at all! It had a nice blueberry glaze and it definitely topped it off! The side he chose was red beans and the red beans were very good too and seasoned very well! I ordered the raspberry lemon martini and it was very good as well! Very strong and much needed lol the presentation was everything! Very nice, simple, and delicate! I also ordered the hot crawfish melt with fries and it was to die for! Omg the cheese pull was amazing! The crawfish were seasoned well and I loved the different cheese they incorporated in the sand which! The service was good as well our waiter was super nice and very open to any questions we had regarding the menu. She definitely gave good recommendations since it was my first time! The ambiance of the place was nice as well! It's definitely very spacious but seems very homey too! Overall! I give it a 10/10 and I will definitely be back! Can't wait to try something different!

Still great, continues to be a must visit, along with Mestizo Louisiana Mexican Restaurant on every pass through "Red Stick". As the saying goes, it takes an hour to get from Baton Rouge to Baton Rouge. And pie makes it better. Get the pie flight. Get the boudin melt. Waitstaff and ambiance were spot on.

    The bathroom
    Rewa D.

The food was good, definitely would go back for that, however the restroom facilities were pretty sketchy. When traveling with a small kid, bathrooms are important too and it does kinda ruin the experience with food if the bathroom is kinda gross because you wonder about the staff. I'm hoping it was a one off.

    Apple pie
    Marissa D.

Just felt a bit underwhelmed. The savory pies (the chicken & beef/pork) were just a bit flavorless. The burger was just not very amazing either. The redeeming point was their apple pie with vanilla ice cream. So good and so fresh.

Good was great. We ordered the crawfish queso , the Boudin burger, fried shrimp plate, and a child's hammer and fries. Food was amazing The service was good. Waiter was attentive. We also ordered the blueberry pie, and the shameless brownie pie. Our biggest complaint is that while we were seated in the cubicle the lady with the short blonde hair that's covered in tattoos (which we loved) was digging all in her nose at the front counter as we were trying to eat.

    LZ Smokey

Loved this little hole in the wall place! It's a pretty neat vibe and the food is outstanding. You park behind the building and come in through the back, which is their main entrance. We came from out of town and they were able to sit us rather quickly with two children. Food was delivered fresh and fast. Our kids loved their burger. Husband and I got the crawfish Louisianan melt and the LZ Smokey sandwich. Customer service was very good. We'll definitely be coming back again!

First time at Elsie's and I can definitely say it won't be the last! I've been hearing how good it is and they did not disappoint. We had about a 15 minute wait for a table for 2 on a Friday night. Our waitresses were so tentative and kind! We started with the boudin cakes! Really tasty with the avocado cream sauce. My husband kept wishing there were more than two! lol For entrees, I tried the crawfish hand pie and Brussel sprouts, along with a berry kick side salad! Everything was good. I particularly liked the fried jalapeños on the salad!! My husband ordered the Big Plate, includes fish, shrimp, and stuffed shrimp. The fish was fried so perfectly, just needed a few more shakes of seasoning! The remoulade sauce really shined and made the fish taste better. We finished with 2 desserts! The apple pie with ice cream and the turtle were both great! Overall, our experience was amazing! Our waitresses really anticipated our needs the entire night! We'll definitely be back for seconds!

The ube ice cream however was solid, with a mild and lightly sweet earthy flavor similar to taro or matcha. 8/10 recommend especially if you've never had bingsu or ube.
