Nicole Brown is excellent!!! If I could give 1000 stars I would. Always going above and beyond and not only in customer service, but in the way she manages the restaurant when no one is looking. Very attentive to details down to labeling the correct items with proper dates without having to be constantly reminded or told. The bar is always clean with zero fruit flies anytime Nicole Brown is working as head bartender. When she's waitressing she's always accommodating to all guests/ children and pets . A joy to have at the Ruby Slipper. She should be managing the location in Baton Rouge and Corporate should give her a proper pay raise $$$ Way to go Nicole Brown, keep up the great work! A casual breakfast spot located at the end of a strip mall, Ruby Slippers is a quick and accessible option for those looking for a carb heavy southern breakfast. We were able to be seated as walk-ins on Presidents Day morning, although the place was absolutely packed. The service here was warm and the food came out moderately quick. This place feels like one of those higher end casual spots, definitely a step above IHOP, but not quite First Watch. We ordered a bunch of things so we'll break it down one by one: Pancakes with bacon - a bit of a letdown. Pancakes had no real flavor and the bacon was good, not great. Beignets - pretty good. Better than some we've had for sure, a nice sweet and doughy treat. French toast bites - very delicious. Came with a nice, sweet dipping sauce that really brought it home. Fried catfish & grits - hit and a miss. The catfish was delicious and lightly battered, the grits were very heavy and buttery which didn't go well with the catfish. It does also come with a biscuit that was light and buttery. Creamy vanilla iced coffee - good. Nothing too special, definitely better than a chain like Starbucks, that's for sure. It had a nice sweetness to it. Altogether, Ruby Slipper is a decent breakfast spot. Nothing we ate really hit it out of the park, but we were satisfied with our meal. It really seems like a local favorite spot and one that feels convenient to hit coming and going from NOLA. My son picked this restaurant for brunch and it was a great choice. The food was definitely delicious for all of us except one person. Her bacon and potatoes were not good to her. The drinks were delicious. My daughter n law said there was water on the bathroom floor and that's unfortunate because she is pregnant. Should probably put up signs or have someone check them periodically for things like that. The waitress Ashley was very nice and polite. She was very helpful with menu suggestions. I got the miga and it was outstanding. My husband got the hot chicken and French toast bites. Also amazing. Coffee is strong and delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. Prices were reasonable. It is very pleasant inside and they have patio seating as well. NOTE to Business owner - you have enough customer photo's of your food. You don't need the business owner photo's. They make it look like you are covering up something. They automatically give a negative impact. YElper's want to see the real stuff when it is served. Just my opinion. read more

Found this place on Yelp, and the food was pretty solid. I will say, though, their waitlist and host situation is a bit of a mess. The area is super small with zero organization. We were in town for a football game, so I imagine it was busier than usual, but the hostess still seemed extremely overwhelmed and unsure of what was going on. Thankfully, the general manager ended up seating us, and he was extremely nice--our server was great as well. We all ordered mimosa flights, which were just okay. They had way too much juice for my taste, and the glasses weren't filled anywhere near the top. But the food made up for it. I had the Benedict Trio, which was amazing--super flavorful and very filling. The beignets were also hot, fresh, and delicious. First, wait list doesn't matter. They took in order of check in at hostess stand weather or not you had joined wait list. Second, food. I ordered an omelet that was missing an ingredient. I informed the waitress and she did nothing to correct the situation. The omelet also was so overcooked on the bottom I had to just scrape the top. All 3 of my husband's poached eggs were cooked to the point of looking like a boiled egg. Third, service wasn't up to standard. As stated above food situation wasn't corrected. Also, I saw waitress go outside and we sat there waiting for 15 minutes with empty glasses and then the check. There were other tables waiting with cards out. Let me start by saying the food was great. I had the bananas foster French toast and mom had the southern breakfast. On the other hand, the service sucked at best! After asking could we move outside because mom was cold she told us fine, just grab your stuff and move. I let that go. When she came out to take our order and then bring food she threw our food and napkins on the table(literally) and walked away. She continued with that type of service. Healthy breakfast that is quick and tastes great! If you want to try something local and has good breakfast food at a decent price, this is your place. Lots of menu options for breakfast. Horrible experience. I ordered a side order and my friend ordered an entrée. The waitress brought our drinks, and my friend had to ask her to add ice. Five minutes later, the waitress informed us that my friend's meal was ready before mine. I told her to bring it out so my friend wouldn't have to wait. My friend finished her entire entrée, and the waitress never came back to check on us, offer refills, or ask if she needed anything else. She needed syrup. When I got up to ask the lady standing near the kitchen window for ice water, she told me she would inform my waitress, then turned around and never went to find her. Well for starters , trying to leverage OpenTable as a swift way to seat people had about 12 people JAMMED in the small waiting area as they figured out where to seat everyone, restaurant was about 3/4 full, so it's a no brainer here- but that was the start. Second, took about 10 minutes for server to get to table, nice guy, but I blame on the house for SURE. Fried green tomatoes come out, usually pretty good but together , COLD bacon, bad presentation and they were just off, POOR. We only then just ordered a few sides of eggs, grits and bacon, and would you believe it- ALL WERE TRASH Eggs were eggy and wet like, absolutely disgusting, the potatoes were hard and over salted and the grits were watery and bland. I will NEVER come back to this place, I see they have a lot of people fooled, but I am onto it and would discourage ANYONE to come here, or at least don't come here and wait 45 Minutes for SLOW service and LOUSY food. read more

I visited on a Sunday afternoon, so it was busy. I was seated upon arrival but wasn't informed that there would be a wait before my waiter could come to the table. It took over 5 minutes for my waiter to greet me. While I waited, I saw several staff members in the area, but no one acknowledged me--not even a simple "someone will be with you shortly" or "sorry for the wait." I understand it was busy, but a little acknowledgment goes a long way. When my waiter did arrive, he seemed very timid and didn't say much, but I was ready to order. I got the loaded tots, shrimp & grits, and pig candy bacon bites. The food came out quickly, but it was just okay--not as good as my previous visit. My waiter also took a while to check back after bringing my food. Overall, my experience was underwhelming, but it may have just been an off day. I'd be willing to give it another chance. read more

I wanted to leave a review praising Ashley. She was our server. I am the mom of a child with level one autism and she was so patient with him and that means so much to mom's like me who struggle in public with the social aspect of our child's behavior. We often feel judged or ostracized because in all respects, our child's gifted or seemingly normal, but then the behavior issues come out. With Ashley, she was patient as we worked through his food choices which if you have a child with autism, you completely understand the limitations. We opted for first available seating and were seated quickly on the patio and our server, Marcus, took great care of us! She had them give her another one because it was hard as a brick. I opted for the Southern BLT it was decent, very dry could have probably used some jam or something to go with it. My mimosa was pretty good. I should have gotten the flight because I wanted more after drinking that one mimosa. The ambience was good, met two nice ladies at the bar. We chatted, drank and laughed together. I would like to try a different location to see what all the Ruby Slipper fuss is about. This is my third consecutive somewhat negative experience in the last 3 months so I felt I needed to post a review. Server had too many tables and was not able to be fully attentive to all. Our food was brought to the table cold after an unusually long wait after ordering. Server just seemed to be overwhelmed. The overall dining experience from seated to paying the ticket was almost 1hour and 35 minutes. Entirely too long. I did enjoy the fresh coffee and the casual dining atmosphere. This is post is not to deter any visitors to Ruby Slipper, but to hopefully get the owners to invest in more employees to get the dining experience back to what it was or better. read more
