This is a complete ripoff I paid 34.84$ for a jalea that's big and all I received in my delivery was one fish fried flour and like 8 calamari's and two fried clams the rest was literally just fired flour and burnt too. I called the restaurant to see if they can fix anything and the girl said I'll speak to the kitchen staff thank you and hanged up I stayed with fried burnt flour and wasted 34.84$ in food that's definitely not worth it read more

After reading the Times article about this place, I knew I had to check this place out. Charming and small, I was here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. We tried Anticuchos (grilled veal heart): this was one of the stars of the show. The meat was tender, and it comes on a sizzling hot plate Yuca a la Huancaina sauce: it was my first time to try this cheesy Amarillo chili sauce - out of this world!! Ceviche Mixto Tacu tacu con lomo saltado: this was my least favorite, but possibly because I don't enjoy a tenderloin. Found the meat a bit dry. The sauce, rice, plantains, tasted wonderful though. Trio Marino (fried calamari, causina tuna, fish ceviche) I also tried a traditional Peruvian drink called Chicha that is made out of purple corn- refreshing and I wouldn't have thought it was corn. I normally don't have dessert during lunch but I had to try their tres leches cake. It was so moist, so decadent. read more

Went for dinner with my kid. Found out this was the same restaurant my family ate years ago in their older location. We had the the trio (ceviche, causa, calamari), anticuchos, tallarin a la huancaina with lomo saltado (meat was soft!), and a shrimp causa. The food was fresh and delicious. Being Peruvian, I am picky when it comes to the flavors of my native cuisine. Lately in the neighborhood, Peruvian food has slipped with inconsistencies in flavor. I could say it was refreshing to have a good Peruvian meal that didn't require us traveling far for. I will definitely come back. We also had the tres leches and brought one home for mom. DESSERT Order an order of Picarones to go ..on menu $7 for 4 picarones so I made the HUGE MISTAKE to change to 2 Orders to go....First: she charged $8 for each order when I said MEnu says $7...she tells you on your very face that you are lying and that it says $7,99 so its $8. We were just getting dessert for some friends. When they finally gave me the orders they were not Picarones... it was this deep fried dough covered in oil in one bite (remember we ordered 2 orders.. one for us) we felt sick. Maybe the place is good for food (we didnt eat there). Real Picarones are made with dough mixed with smashed sweet potatoe or pumpkin and anise...there were just flour, water and a sea of oil...disgusting...$16 went straight to the garbage....they are fake ...I dont think they even have a peruvian cook there....so much for a Peruviand food Restaurant!!! read more

My first time ordering the lunch specials, I got the aji de gallina, lomo saltado and chaufa de pollo with a side of papa a la huancaina. I'm Peruvian and I can say the papa a la huancaina needed more taste, it was a bit plain and same thing with the aji de gallina, but the lomo saltado was very on point. This place has gone down hill since they moved. The outdoor seating was supposed to be 6- feet apart, but the waiter seated a group directly behind us and our chairs were practically touching. The chicha tastes like sugar water, almost no flavor of corn. We ordered the Ceviche which is usually my favorite dish here, but they cut some corners and now they serve half as many shrimp (2 instead of 4) but they cut them in half so it looks like 4 pieces. I really love the food from Warique, especially the arroz chaufa con camarones. I order it a few times a month. However, the delivery is always an issues because it is often later than scheduled and I have to call to check on it AND once it arrives the container is usually partially opened due to quality and how it is transported. Sometimes it looks like the delivery person did a few cartwheels on the way. If they invest in better containers that can withstand the delivery shuffle my review would be 5 z read more

I went here the other day for takeout and the service was very friendly and accommodating. My bf is keto (ugh), so he couldn't eat any of the sides that come with the rotisserie chicken. They allowed him to substitute the two sides for a large salad, and the salad was really, really nice (included a half an avocado, cranberries, and other good things--wasn't just a sad side salad). I got ahi de gallina and it was delicious. I ate about a third of it because it was so large, so I have leftovers for two more meals. Came here last night with a friend of mine we ate like a king and queen for $32! We split a whole chicken combo and it came with a bunch of side dishes. Very cute atmosphere! The bathroom was super clean, a little strange to walk through the kitchen to get there, but at the same time made me feel good to see a spotless kitchen at this establishment. The food was very tasty but very overpriced I payed $25 for half a chicken and it was a small half chicken, I get thing are expensive now a days but that is a bit much. Unfortunately the service was bad- We waited a long time for the waitress to take our order, had to ask for beverage options because she offered none, did not check back once to ask if I needed anything. Asked waitress for hot sauce and she forgot because she was busy talking. All she did was drop off my food and clear it, that is not minimum service for a place that's tiny and not busy. Sorry to say the restaurant has gone way downhill. We used to go when they were in Manhattan and Astoria and those experiences were always excellent. We had called about a reservation this time and were told they don't take any. However, they let a family go in ahead of us, saying they have a reservation. When I asked how come they were able to make one and we were not, the waiter was taken aback and came up with the explanation that his colleague had made it by mistake. The place is now really small (more of a symbolic sit down restaurant and predominantly a take out/delivery destination) and the wait for three was 1 hr 15 minutes (we were told 30-35 minutes), even though it was not that busy. Service was also slow and they brought 2 of the three main courses out first (which took 45 minutes) with one of the appetizers. Then, they brought the second appetizer and finally the third main dish. Incredible! The menu is much more limited than we remember and they have no liquor license. We were also told there were no picarones left, while 2 other tables got them! The waiter had the decency to let one of us have a free glass of chicha for the long wait but I think the overall experience required a much grander gesture. And do they do add 18% tip automatically, so the joke is on me for noticing that until after I left! Overall, very disappointing because we used to love Jimmy's place and miss the quality, experience, and ambience of the prior two venues. We hope they find their way back soon. read more
