    CEVICHE ESPECIAL

Service: 4/5 Food: 3.5/5 Ambiance: casual, local favorite, authentic Sign out front says DPAQ, I think it's an acronym for something. Doesn't get too busy so the limited seating isn't really an issue. Nice + knowledgeable servers, although service might a little slow. What I Ordered: - Ceviche Special: fried + fresh calamari = game changer. well balanced, not too acidic. sweet potato was DELICIOUS (only if you like cinnamon). hefty portion size. red sauce is SPICY - Arroz con Mariscos: has a little spice kick. also HEALTHY portion size. good variety of seafood, but the crab was hard to eat without tools - Chicken Leg w/ Fries + Beans: very tender, a little salty (typical). decent portion size for lunch + the price. fries are a little plain on their own

    sangria

I had the tallarin verde with steak and a red sangria. The tallarin was good but I make better pesto at home. The steak was too salty and had too much fat. The sangria was too sweet, it tasted like fruit juice. They were closed for a while to remodel, everything looks the same to me just new tables and chairs in the back. I told them the steak was too salty and the sangria was too sweet. They just said OK.

Build Your Own Lunch (~$10): 1/4 Pollo, Sweet Plantains, Spanish Rice with aji verde and aji amarillo sauces

Ordered: Build Your Own Lunch (~$10): 1/4 Pollo, Sweet Plantains, Spanish Rice with aji verde and aji amarillo sauces Aya's take: Solid lunch special deal. Rotisserie chicken had good flavor with a nice glaze and crispiness on the skin, the Spanish rice was seasoned well, and the plantains were deliciously fried. I really enjoyed both sauces with my preferred being the aji verde sauce. The cilantro and peppers really came to life with this dish. My only complaint is that there was a Yelp check-in offer to redeem a free beverage. The worker AND manager claimed they didn't know what it was and refused to honor it. If you're unable to honor your check-in offer, it's best to remove it completely to avoid the disappointment.

I really like this place for their ceviche. Perfect portion & flavor. And everything else I've tried is really good too. The one thing I wasn't completely happy with was the anticucho as it is meant to be a thick cut of meat (heart) and it was just very thinly cut which takes away from From the experience. The service could be faster but I take the slow service in exchange of a delicious ceviche & papá a la huancaina. The drinks are pretty good too and they have a lunch special that I personally really enjoy. This a good solid Peruvian restaurant in an area that is really missing more options for this cuisine so I strongly suggest we support this business so it stays in the neighborhood!

Half of our PAPA A LA HUANCAINA potato and sauce

Food is still consistently great. Good portions of protein in each dish, cooked very well. Service can be slow, especially for takeout. Have received things lukewarm, next to something piping hot that was clearly just cooked, after over an hour wait. The employees work very hard and fast, but seem to be often understaffed. We continue to return when not in a rush, but I think you have to be ready to wait. I hope they set the staff up for success with more help where possible.

This is my first time ordering at this place and Maybe the last time. I wanted to give a try since I dont have a peruvian restaurant near by. The Chicken: seasoned outside; bland and tasteless inside! If you dont put the green sauce it taste like plain boiled chicken. The beans: salty! Salty! Salty! The rice: it was okay! But pretty much everyone can make plain arroz amarillo! Salad: horrible! They hide all the yellowish lettuce with toppings! Cucumbers were old and bland! Looks like I had this salad sitting in my fridge for 2 days and it has been only 20 min on my table! Went straight to the garbage!

    ARROZ CON MARISCOS

Ordered for pick up on a Saturday for dinner and was not disappointed. The Arroz Con Mariscos was delicious and so plentiful, not too salty and definitely mouth watering. Also had the cheese empanada, beef empanada and guava/cheese empanada combo which was very good. My girlfriend had the nazca, and the chicken was basically coming off the bone, so good. Huge portions for what you're paying for, which is also very nice. Most likely will have leftovers for the next day. Will definitely order again.

Their menu offers an array of dishes ranging from small bites to feast for the eyes and your belly. One dish or rather protein that is a focal point in their menu is chicken since they serve a lean cut of chicken breast or rotisserie chicken paired with rice and other sides. Do prepare your stomach to feast at this restaurant and your ears to listen to some lively music while dining. The servers are very sweet, attentive, and patient for first timer such as myself visiting this restaurant especially in this NYC heat. But I do speak Spanish and part of my family is from Colombia so it was a plus and flex for me since I got to connect more with them. Overall, this restaurant is ideal spot to dine at after visiting The Noguchi Museum. That's my personal recommendation since you get to feed the mind with art history then feed yourself with some delicious Colombian food.

The only…read morereason I return is because it's my grandmother's preferred restaurant since she lives nearby. We arrived around 6:20-6:30 p.m. There were plenty of open tables, but we weren't seated until much later. During that time, the male waiter seemed more concerned with other tasks. He was seating a woman whose party of six hadn't yet arrived, going back and forth to the kitchen, handing out receipts, and collecting menus. After all of that, he finally approached us--not to seat us--but to ask, "How long are you going to take?" I replied, "Sir, we're here to eat." He responded that the side tables were for people watching the game. I explained that we were there to dine, as this is a restaurant. Even after we were seated, he avoided our table completely. He took the order of a table that had been seated after us while we continued waiting. About 20 minutes later, a female waitress noticed we had not been helped and took over our table. She was attentive, professional, and the only reason we received service. After placing our order, we waited about an hour for our entrées. The food was also underwhelming. The Papa a la Huancaína came with an excessive amount of sauce and very few potatoes. The Ceviche Mixto lacked the bright citrus flavor that ceviche should have. My grandmother, who is very familiar with Peruvian cuisine, found it bland, and even after taking it home we couldn't improve it. The Bistec Encebollado was slightly too salty for our taste. The beans simply weren't to my liking, though that's a matter of personal preference. Another issue is the dining room layout. The seating is extremely tight, to the point where it feels like you're almost elbow-to-elbow with the tables next to you, making the experience feel cramped. Overall, this visit was disappointing. Between the slow and inattentive service, the long wait for food, the cramped seating, and several disappointing dishes, the experience did not justify the visit. The female waitress deserves recognition for stepping in when we had been overlooked, but unfortunately she couldn't make up for the rest of the experience.
