My dad has chronic illnesses and cannot manage himself when these unexpected gaps in care occur, which causes stress to the family . Management was responsive but unable to offer long term solutions . I recommend that Options for Senior Care America develop an accountability culture and hire more qualified aides or a contract to maintain continuity of care for their clients . If you do not need reliability then they work, if you do, it's a risk .

Constantly having to train a different care giver almost every shift because the care givers quit or just never come back. Need someone at 11am, nope.... they will call you and tell you that they may be there by 12, or 1 or whenever, hope that's okay and you had no plans. Nope 4 hour minimum and you WILL be charged the full 4 hours even if the person is sent home early due to not being needed for anything further that day. They claim that they will do basic household chores, helping with laundry, cleaning the bathroom, bed changes, they even give you a full several page report of what they are expected to do while someone is here.... Nope, not at all, we had exactly 1 caregiver that did those things and she was a fill-in and couldn't come back. We haven't had any 1 single care giver long enough to even show them where to do the laundry at, or where the clean bed sheets are. As soon as one person is trained, even a little bit, they never come back, quit or are fired. The lack of give a sh*t from this place is disgraceful. Literally use ANYONE else, heck, go to craigslist or hire from help wanted ads for a private care giver and I can guarantee that would be a better option than this atrocity of a company. They will placate you with anything you want to hear, tell you all the pretty things that they will do for you, and deliver absolutely nothing...NOTHING that they promise.

I was feeling too sick to try to sit in an ER and the house call from him saved the day and the entire trip. He took a careful medical history, and spent the time to listen as well as inform us of the diagnosis and the options. He prescribed the ear drops and medication that ensured I felt better within a few hours so that I was able to be present for our daughter and heal. He also helped us come up with the right decision not to fly until a few days later than planned to help heal the ear and bronchitis. I wish there was a doctor like him in the Bay Area!
