Worst Dr. visit ever. I'd give 0 if I could I called to make an appt. for my knee and was told "You can se his PA at this time." I said "I'm sure the PA is great but I want to see the doctor. My knees ar not normal." She said, "OK you can see the doctor at this date and time." I said great. Got there and waited 40 minutes to get into the room and the PA came in. An update to my last review: I had no idea just how bad my surgery with Dr. Kramer was until I went to a new surgeon. I feel that he doesn't do his job properly, overlooks his team not doing their job, and doesn't care about his patients before OR after surgery. After having a labrum repair and bone shaving via arthroscopic surgery with Dr. Kramer in August 2017, I found out in January 2019 that I would have to have the same procedure done on my other hip. The first thing I did was find a new surgeon. The difference between the two procedures was NIGHT AND DAY. Dr. Kramer barely saw me for five minutes for the two appointments he was present for (he didn't even come to my post-op), didn't explain the procedure or the recovery to me whatsoever, I believe they gave me improper dosing of anesthesia, improper post surgical care, and my incisions weren't closed properly and are still very noticeable after two years. (of course this can't be proven as they will give me no answers about my surgery, which is extremely frustrating) My new surgeon explained the procedure to me from start to finish, took photographs of the entire procedure and explained them to me in detail after surgery, had me in physical therapy within 24 hours (instead of 2+ weeks), was available to me 24/7 to call or text with complications or questions, closed my sutures absolutely beautifully, I could go on and on. I'm three weeks out from my surgery now and I'm doing better than I was even MONTHS after my surgery with Dr. Kramer. My pain levels are significantly lower, my mobility is awesome, and my incisions are also in a different location, which I think added to my success. Went to see Dr Kramer and could not get in for 4 weeks so saw his PA. Had X-ray done and was put on low dose of anti inflammatory. Started PT. Told to come back 6 week later. No improvement told to get MRI and increased anti inflammatory Came back two week later to review MRI. still inflammation. no improvement . Dr. Kramer was consulted by PA. Told to come back in 6 weeks later. Pain gettin unbearable. Dr. suggested PRP shots at $1500 not covered by insurance. I felt something was not right so went to Orthopedic Specialisits Institute and saw Dr. Barnett. he took X-ray could see right away that I has severe osteoarthritis bone on bone . Thank goodness I got another opinion. from a Dr. who knew how to read an X-ray . I've spent 6 months in pain, $$ on MRI that was not necessary. wasted time. Saw Dr. Kramer for a knee or tibia problem that was causing shooting pain and numbness. After a brief examination he said"In all my 30 years of practice, I've never seen anything like this." So, let me get this straight, you are an orthopedic surgeon and you've never had someone come in with shooting knee/tibia pain and numbness. Let me state that he was not joking. . This is the worst doctor ever. Both my best friend and I had surgery from Dr. Kramer both of us had to have revisions done by other surgeons. both surgeons found surgical debris left in our hip sockets. This is unbelievable that he is still in business. I just suffered six years of my life because of Kramer doing a terrible surgery. What an interesting coincidence that my best friend had exactly the same debris left in her hip socket on her medical report as I did. Basically the last six years of my life has been ruined by Kramer. I just had a total hip replacement yesterday from another doctor. I feel fine so far. And I don't want to mention the doctors name because he is a friend of Kramer and they actually go golfing together so I know he will try to protect him if necessary. * This place is brutal. I was referred by my physical therapists and was scheduled three weeks out with the Physician's Assistant for an acute shoulder injury. There was no way to get in earlier, which is understandable. However, I showed up at 10:30am, my appointment time,with all my new patient paperwork and insurance information already completed. Then,I wasn't even called until 11:30am. This place is a patient mill with little regard for your time or priorities. If it takes over an hour to be called to see a Physician's Assistant, how long would it take to see the doctor? I'm completely dissatisfied with their regard for a patient's time. I wanted to write an update because it's been a few years after my knee surgery and since then, I've been at 110%. I was up on a snowboard 6 months after surgery and running within four months of major double knee surgery. So thank you again Dr. Kramer! No problems whatsoever. I also wanted to warn other reviewers that Peter P. below who wrote a negative review for Dr. Kramer has recently contacted each one of us who wrote a positive review for Dr. Kramer with harassing messages. Of his 49 reviews, 38 are one stars. Run! Dr. Kramer is not a good doctor. Had surgery a few years ago in my hip that should have fixed the problem. It did not. Been dealing with pain for 12 years. NOO Just NOO! Im really tired of hearing all the accolades this guy gets. I get the feeling that he is an over booked surgeon because he deals with a lot of professional athletes. Unfortunately he stringed me along for 5 months with absolutely bogus treatment. I had a knee injury that healed up with a case of arthritis where the femur touches the patella. His assistant told me based on my MRI that i was absolutely a candidate for surgery except they wanted me to try anti inflammaties, which are so bad for your stomach, and cortisone injections. I said ok if they don't work then i get a surgery and ill be done. 2 more visits later neither cortisone or pills worked and i requested a surgery as i was recommended to do. Finally i actually meet with Dr. Kramer. He comes in with 2 other staff members, no privacy, he diagnosed me without looking at my MRI and has me do a one legged squat and tells me right away that i wouldn't benefit from surgery. He was being extremely dismissive with a very poor sense of humor. I was not in the mood to listen to his jokes to impress his staff members while he diagnosed my knee. He tells me to go back to do a month strait of physical therapy 3 times a week to try and fix it. Knowing my own body i had the feeling it wasn't going to work but i went along with it anyways. After all, this guy might be inside of my knee in the near future. 1 month later PT didn't work and i was stil getting pain from my arthritis when i was running. I requested a surgery and now the personal assistant that told me i was a candidate for surgery is changing her story....she recommends me for another month of physical therapy and anti inflammatories. She even told me that i was supposed to be on a regimen of cortisone injections as a treatment and i was denied twice cortisone injection shots. At this point so much isn't adding up that im really questioning my DR.'s judgment. The deciding detail though was that DR. KRAMER DID NOT LOOK AT MY MRI WHEN HE DIAGNOSED ME. I decided to go find another Doctor. The first doctor i visited was a miracle. He told me all of my arthritis symptoms without me telling him or him looking at my MRI. He just wiggled my knee and knew. He then examined my MRI to confirm. He told me i wouldn't have benefited from physical therapy because i was already strong in the leg area with flexible tendons. He said lubricant and cortisone injections would only benefit me for a small period of time but would never cure my condition. He scheduled me for a surgery that following week and everything went very well. Looking back because i hear about so many minor surgeries that Kramer does for professional surfers I think that he only operates on professional athletes in the orange county Newport area at a premium cost too. This guy is a celebrity DR. and DOESN'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT YOU UNLESS YOU HAVE A LOT OF MONEY. HES A TOTAL DOUCHE for not being upfront. He just billed my insurance and wasted 5 months of my time. After months of procrastinating, and trying rehab first, I made the leap and had my knee scoped, just yesterday, by Dr. Kramer. So far I am amazed at how much better my knee feels and how little surgical pain I have. I have not even needed OTC pain relievers and can already walk without assistance. I will be cautious over the next 10 days but feel confident healing will be a breeze. Things have certainly improved since my left knee procedure 26 years ago! I had an appointment that I had to wait for 3 weeks for. The appointment was was for 9:45 AM on this Friday - March 11th. Because of Covid, the office had you wait in your car until an examining room was ready for you. I arrived at the location 30 minutes early at 9:15 am as instructed, called the office and was told I would receive a call back when a room was ready. At 9:50 AM, I still hadn't received a phone call back. I called Dr Warren's office and was told " it's going to be sometime before we can take you - we have 3 patients in front of you" I said my appointment was for 9:45 - I can't wait for a "long time" - I have work to go to. The lady said "would you like to reschedule" - I said yes - thinking it would be for the next Monday or Tuesday - instead, she said we can have you come in at the end of the month - I said I'm in pain now - waited 3 weeks to get in and now you want me to wait another 2 weeks plus - unbelievable - I never received such poor customer service as this - I would never go back. read more

Dr. Kramer's big smile, and caring personality makes even the hard news that he has had to give to my family members over the year much easier to swallow. We have been seeing him for almost a decade for our three boys sports related injuries - everything from spinal cord injuries to sprained ankles. Most recently, he performed a hip reconstructive surgery on my son right before his senior year. Dr. Kramer worked closely with my son, and was able to get him back on the court (as much as he could handle) so he could participate in his final high school basketball season! BEWARE! I am writing this warning about Dr. Kramer's deceptive business practices. Dr. Kramer may be a great surgeon, but there are many other qualified and excellent surgeons who are honest and forthright and transparent in their business practices. I will give details but first, let me say that I would probably have given Dr. Kramer a 4* if it were not for the dishonesty. My husband's rotator cuff surgery from a dirt biking accident turned out well (5*), but the WAIT time is always OVER an hour even though you have an appointment, and then when the Dr. comes in he does not want to be bothered with the details. His is a tad like a used car salesman (the word "slick" comes to mind). He spent a decent amount of time with us on our one appointment prior to surgery then after the surgery, it was SUPER quick. Also, he seems to really like the ladies paying way more attention to the wife or mother than the patient himself if it is a male. Anyhow, we booked the surgery and gave all our insurance information. We were told we were approved and my husband was scheduled for his surgery. We were told the surgery was done at a nearby surgery center. No ifs ands or buts. We are approved for surgery. Here is your date. Here is where it is being done. On the day of the surgery, we signed the typical forms and also met with a side vendor (we didn't know this was a part of it, but they were just there waiting for us... we spent 10-15 minutes with them) about an ice and compression machine and signed a bunch of papers related to that. We never met with anyone from the surgery center except to briefly sign the forms. The Newport Center Surgery place now claims that at this time we were informed that the surgery center was NOT IN NETWORK. This is not the case. We were NEVER informed that the facility was not in network. If we had been, we would have noticed that because this means it will not go toward deductible or annual out of pocket maximum (I am in the insurance industry... In would have noticed). Weeks after the surgery as we took our kids to the Dr. etc., we were not understanding why we were still having to pay medical costs... we should met our deductible AND annual max by now. We FINALLY figured out that it is because the surgery center amount we paid was not being credited toward anything... it was just going into the black hole of "out of network". I can even see if this was a surprise that they were out of network for us, but they take NO INSURANCE! They are out of network for EVERY insurance. So they know this EVERY SINGLE TIME with every single surgery. The Doctor's office never notified us and neither did the surgery center, even though they knew. Of course they have one of the zillions of forms we signed that says they are not in network, so there is nothing we can do legally... all we can do it warn you. IMPORTANT additional information: DR. KRAMER IS ONE OF THE OWNERS OF THE SURGERY CENTER! So it seems obvious that his deception is not accidental but purposeful to line his pockets with more money. We explained the problem to the surgery center and the Dr.'s office and they said "You know. You signed the paper". Period. It seems obvious this is the script they are used to delivering. This is so sad because we really wanted to trust them and now we are out not just our $7000 deductible and additional $2000 we have to pay in coinsurance (our 20% after deductible is met), but the WHOLE additional amount for the surgery center on top of it. I echo much of what's been experienced by Dr Kramers office staff and office. When you book an appointment, be prepared to wait for hours. In my first 3 attempts to get an initial visit I had to leave for work after having to wait over 1.5 hours each of the 3 times. After years I forgot about the waits & tried again and I got in fairly quick. Nice. BUUUUT, he sent me to NEWPORT DIAGNOSTICS to get an MRI. Talk about bullies and corruption. I asked the admittance staff what the cost would be of the MRI. Simple right? I even asked her several times. She even volunteered to show me on her monitor the cost and then she recommended I even take a picture w my phone. I agreed. Weeks later I get a bill from them that's not the amount in the photo. The billing dept manager I talked to said she couldn't validate what the admittance personal told me and I was still obligated to pay. I said nope! When I offered to send her the viddo of the conversation she didn't wanna hear it. Then, When I called Dr Kramer to book my procedure his office said I was terminated as a patient. Surprised, I asked why and they said bec they heard from NEWPORT DIAGNOSTICS about my bill and they terminated me without even contacting me. I guess when companies get as big or as popular as these companies / factories seem to be, they feel they can bully people out of their money. I'm tempted to pursue this legally since I have the whole thing on video. Unless you have deep pockets / or i don't give a darn type of money, you'd be wise to look elsewhere for medical care. I wish I could write a good review for Dr. Kramer, but unfortunately that is not the case. The last three times I have been there for appointments, I have had to wait over an hour for my appointment, just to be surprised when I was told that the doctor would not be seeing me, instead his PA would. She diagnosed me and sent me on my way with a physical therapy prescription. Six weeks later at my followup, an appointment in which it was guaranteed to me that the doctor would be seeing me this time, the PA strolled through the door. I told her I was here to see the doctor I made the appointment with, and was forced to wait another 2 hours for him to show up. Come to find out, she misdiagnosed me. But none of this even comes close to what came out of Dr. Kramer's mouth. "This injury will not hurt you in school or sports or love. I have seen people with much worse injuries complain much less than you. This is not a fixable injury, and I cannot help you any more." I don't know where he got his bedside manner, but it is terrible. No doctor should ever speak to a patient like that, no matter the situation. The front office was very friendly when making my appointment over the phone and again when they greeted me at my appointment. During my visit I met with Dr. Kramer's PA (Caroline). She questioned me about my knee and did an exam. She then went over what was going on and what the recommended treatment should be. She was very thorough. He has a great reputation and was excited that I would be getting surgery with him. When he met with me he told me that I had hip dysplasia and a torn labrum. 2 days before surgery was Scheduled I was at my pre-op appointment when things went down hill fast. It turns out that while his office took my health insurance his (owned by him) surgery center did not. I was told it would be an extra $6k to have surgery at his surgery center. It seems that the surgery center is at fault and that they never submitted for approval from my health insurance. I went from feeling cared for and like there was a plan for my healing to feeling like the most unpopular hot potato in the office. Luckily his billing specialist had worked for another excellent doctor in the area and was able to refer me to him (Dr. Gazzaniga). Dr. Kramer and his PA lack basic compassion and empathy. The way that this was handled by them was extremely unprofessional and left me feeling not only alone but like I must have smelled bad to them. Had it not been for their billing specialist I would have given an even lower score. Also I was billed for the appointment where I was told that I would not be having surgery with them. At first blush, Dr. Kramer appears to be a highly reputable doctor who is so busy dealing with rich, important, and celebrity clients that an average person feels 'lucky' if he consents to treating them. However the more time you spend with him as your doctor, as I did, the more you realize all is not as it seems. Dr. Kramer, son of another NB doctor, practically inherited this practice. His office manager (who appears to spend a significant amount of time and money on her looks) has a lot more say/influence in this practice than a normal office manager would or should. Dr. Kramer and his staff act indignant if you dare to ask them if they accept insurance. They act more indignant if you ask them what things cost since you have to pay out of pocket. Remember most of their select clientele doesn't care about money - only bragging rights. Furthermore, Dr. Kramer and staff ran up the bills "preparing" me for surgery only to inform me the NIGHT BEFORE the surgery was scheduled that they had "elected" not to continue treating me because I wasn't nice enough to their office manager. If you ask me, this borderline medical malpractice was just a way for them to run up all the bills and then bail on me because the overtly overly hubba hubba office manager didn't like being questioned about anything and has more sway with her married boss than she ought to if she were a true professional. Net/Net: there are better orthopedic doctors in Anaheim/Orange and in Beverly Hills who more ethical in their billing/invoicing methods and in their practice than the Kramer brothers. This is a good example of a doctor relying on his attitude of entitlement (looks/upbringing/education/lineage/ office location/etc.) rather than his skills, knowledge and compassion to treat his patients. read more

Dr. Warren Kramer saved my life. I fell backwards in crappy spring slush snow and knew something happened to my knee but I didn't know what. Six months of agony and appointments with Yahoos who didn't know anything - I was at my wit's end. I was referred to Warren and he repaired my knee when no other orthopedic surgeon could figure it out. He took one look at my MRI and knew exactly what to do. My femur had come up too high and carved a groove in my patellas and then it wasn't tracking properly, causing me pain. But he warned me that what he would do was not only smooth out the underside of my patella but to have the kneecap track properly, he would cut the synovial tissue to make the kneecap go back into where it was supposed to be. I told him to go for it - do what you think is right. And I'm telling you - I run 10ks, half marathons, and ski steep and deep at Snowbird because of Warren Kramer. He saved my life. read more

Sadly my life has been changed after going under the knife of Dr Warren Kramer III the third time. I am now permanently disabled. I was the last case of the day on New Years Eve 12/31/2014 (the worst day of my life). The arthroscope used during my knee surgery (to repair a broken patella and torn meniscus) nicked/injured the saphenous branch of my femoral nerve which has caused severe neuropathy. It took a lot of trips to Los Angeles, tests, diagnostics to sort out this mess. I was told by him that I'd need 6 weeks recovery time but I was out of work through August of that year. I didn't qualify for disability due to being a teacher (we don't pay into so I received half pay then zero pay for the school year and zero pay in summer due to not being able to work my summer contract). I lost over 0.6 of years of my State Teachers Retirement, depleted my savings account for medical bills and to be able to pay bills, eat and survive. My medication monthly are close to $200 after insurance. I'm a teacher for children with special needs, not a Doctor with a private practice. $200 is a lot of money to me but I have no choice. Some of my passions include travel, hiking, backpacking, the great outdoors and serving special needs/homeless populations. I am now permanently disabled myself and unable to climb stairs or hike the hills and mountains that used to cleanse my soul and rejuvenate my spirit. I'd gladly give back that blue disabled parking placard if I could go without it and wish that 12 sick days in a school year were enough to cover the days I can barely get out of bed and tolerate the pain I experience. Dr Kramer never once called me to follow up but his office manager assured me he was aware of the situation (what a joke). I warn you to not trust this man as I did. He has shown me his cowardly side and that he lacks compassion, empathy and the diligence of making things as right as they can be. BEWARE of his patient mill. He is not the best of the best and I would be sad to hear of this happening to someone else. I can't imagine I'm the first and only however. I hope that my short review can prevent at least one life from being altered for the worst as mine has been. read more

I'm a 54 year old Extreme athlete, who constantly strives to be young again. Dr. Kramer is as professional and as competent as any of the number one rated doctors in the country. His working knowledge and constant desire to keep updated on the latest procedures has kept my body performing at a high level for many years. He has worked on both shoulders and both knees so I can continue to Surf, Ski, Spearfish and participate in Triathlons. He always has the time to discuss thoroughly my options going forward. This guy is a real pro and a really nice guy. I have also found his PA, Jennifer, to be equally impressive and more than willing to spend the extra time and energy to make me feel comfortable. I have no problem spending whatever extra time I need to in the office to get the very best I deserve. I am willing to pay that price knowing I will be taken care of in the long run.
