This place is quaint with a decent sized menu including specials. The service was good and the food was pretty decent. We both ordered specials which came with a soup or salad. We both got the cream of mushroom soup which was delicious. We also got the pretzel as an appetizer. The pretzel was good but the cheese dipping sauce was wanting (we also got a side of honey mustard which was just okay). The person I went with got the bacon wrapped meatloaf which was delicious and tender. Even the gravy on the mashed potatoes was yummy. I got the seasonal chop, a pork chop stuffed with corn bread stuffing over mashed sweet potatoes. This sounded so good but was just okay. The meat could have been more tender. Overall, this is a cute spot with a lot of specials! I would go back to try the rest of the menu. read more

Had the BEST smoked wings of my life at this hidden gem. The bartenders were super nice, and the food was filling. Everyone was friendly. They also had Buffalo trace in stock so you know I had to have some of that! They have a nice outdoor seating area which we couldn't get to because it was a busy Saturday, but you have views of the creek. read more

A very enjoyable place to come with friends. Fairly large size balcony and grounds where you can eat along the Riverside. You can eat inside and enjoy the air conditioning and /or there's also a bar area that you can sit at. Food was made fresh & tasted so delicious . I had pulled pork sliders. Unfortunately, we did not have a great experience this time. We had asked if they would move two small tables together for the 6 of us and were told it was not possible. We had no choice but to sit outside in wind and rain. Besides being cold the speakers behind us were so loud we could not hold a conversation. Bar area has very small TV's so not a place to watch sports but the bar area is nice with some high tops. Menu has several good choices but they have execution & some food quality issues. Meatball app is a generous serving but meatballs are a little tough & salty. Jalapeño popper special was good & a nice serving. Clams are served with an excellent broth but the clams were way too large. The pizza & fries are excellent! If they can make some improvements to the food that would definitely help. Stopped in the try it out after reading a positive review. A few things turned me off right away. First, the boisterously drunken locals at the bar. I always sit at the bar, and enjoy it very much, but these people had a little too much (it was like 4pm) and were a little over the top with the loud howling laughter and inappropriateness. For example, "hey, can I take a picture of your food?" "Are you going to eat all that?" Seriously? Not cool. If you didn't know you were in NJ, you might think you were in Alabama. This is a real shit kicking bar with country music and all. Now for the food. It was good! I had the fig and walnut salad with honey wings, and I must say that all was delicious. Note to management. An upgrade of the bar stools to something a little more quality would be nice. The stools feel cheap and wobbly. read more

First time here, we gave it 5 stars for the quality of salmon and perfect preparation. Moist and delicious! They actually serve REAL olive oil at the table. FOODIES BEWARE: Don't know if I went on an "off night" but was not happy with the food. I got the catfish which comes with a salad or soup option to start with. I asked for cesar and what I literally got was a bowl of romaine and dressing..... No croutons or cheese. Completely missing half of the ingredients of the salad. For me personally, I can learn to live without the cheese if forgotten but, the croutons are an absolute must. I asked the waitress kindly "shouldn't there have been croutons in my salad??" And she explained to me how "sometimes when the kitchen is slammed, they get cranky and don't bother with making Caesar salads since we don't really do that here" and then went on the say she was trying to do me a favor by "hooking me up" with one anyways. Girl please stop talking because that was not a hook up. You downgraded me if anything with that half salad. Having been a waitress myself for 5+ years, you just don't say that to people. Come up with whatever excuse but don't say to customers "the kitchen doesn't want to be bothered with making you a simple salad". You act like I was asking for some fancy nonsense like duck quesadillas.... Oh wait. They serve those here and we will get into that later. I let the salad go and waited for dinner. I got the catfish and the rest of the table ordered a chicken parm sandwich and the duck quesadillas. There's certain things you wouldn't order from certain places.... For example you wouldn't order a steak from ihop..... Or at least you shouldn't order a steak from ihop. Same mindset with the duck quesadillas here. I knew it would be a huge risk ordering it from an establishment like this but someone at the table went for it and ordered it. Dude..... you can't even taste the duck and the mushrooms in it taste like they came out of a can. It was just hot mush..... no real flavor honestly. I understand we were eating at some dive bar but when the food starts to taste like I could have made it at home, that disappoints me because I'm no Gordon Ramsey. My personal cooking is pretty decent but not restaurant dining level. Plus we ordered staples like a Cesar salad and chicken parm sandwich that is hard to mess up yet here we are. I tried the person's chicken parm sandwich and it just tasted like hot mush too. We both agreed there was hardly any sauce, couldn't taste the cheese and the chicken had no flavor just tasted like hot meat on a bun. My catfish was similar in terms of no seasoning in the batter resulting in a bland hot meat meal. The catfish did come with cornbread and I will say the cornbread was pretty dang delicious. Nice crispy crust served warm and fluffy inside 10/10. The chicken parm sandwich came with macaroni salad and that tasted just..... bland. Like my inner Gordon Ramsey was fuming because how the heck does macaroni salad from Walmart have more flavor than this?! All you tasted was celery. You can see there was mayonnaise mixed in but it tasted like they were running out of mayonnaise and watered it down to have enough for the night. Finally came dessert.... Ordered the tiramisu. Usually for the most part, places just order a large sheet of tiramisu from a third party company and just cut it as it's ordered while few places make it from scratch. I had the feeling this place doesn't do the latter given how much grief I was given over a dang Cesar salad. When the tiramisu arrived, it looked fine but eating it was another story. The whole bottom part was WET AND SOGGY. Like you know when you leave cereal sitting in milk for too long and it gets all waterlogged and disintegrates?? Yea that's how the tiramisu was. I've eaten tiramisu from shoprite and Costco and both tasted a million times better than the tiramisu I was served here. I was happy to finally have the bill paid for and walk out of there because the food put on those plates was sad. Till this day I am still waiting for the missing croutons and cheese from my Cesar salad. Will update whenever the kitchen "feels like making it". read more

AMAZING place to eat. The waitstaff was extremely nice and on top of everything we needed, even with fewer waiters available because of COVID. Restaurant was extremely cute inside, and outside (where we sat) was perfect-- covered from the sun on a hot day, overlooking the water, and surprisingly cool because they had fans going. The food was the best part though. Everything from my soup, my girlfriend's salad, and my fish and chips was cooked to perfection. I don't think I've had a better fish and chips. Phenomenal. have eaten here 4-5 times in the past and the food quality was always good, but it seems things have taken a turn for the worse. lunch early February was disappointing: shrimp scampi (admittedly a poor choice) was awful. shrimp were over cooked and rubbery, and there were not very many of them (and I am a very light eater, so if the portion seemed small to me it most decidedly was). the pasta itself was inexcusable. it was cooked well enough, not soggy or over cooked, but the nail in the coffin was the heaps, heaps, and heaps of jarred garlic. there is no excuse, ever, for jarred garlic at a restaurant. I love garlic but this was beyond normal. I hope the kitchen gets its act together because this really is a sweet little spot in the culinary wasteland of Warren county. my dining companion said her crab cake was ok, just ok, but it looked pretty good. Just the most ok food ever. I could make better food at home. Things didn't taste fresh or homemade. They had a sign saying that they are experiencing understaffage and that there would be wait. Food took forever to arrive but it didn't even make sense. People who sat after us got their food first. Food came out in no particular order and one main course for 4 people came at least 15 minutes before the other ones arrive. Waitress was friendly but didn't write down order so we got drinks we didn't order. I asked for something to be omitted but it was still on my dish. Mac and cheese and crab fries were too salty. Breading on catfish also salty. Too many flies outside in back patio too so it wasn't an enjoyable experience. Other people eating salads had an issue with their food too. Sad. read more

I would like a 3.5 option, but alas. The pros: we were immediately greeted at the door, the decor is very nice and reflects the owner's desire to succeed. My food...the crab cake was delicious. Cons: the beer list...sigh, this is what brings us out...not only did the board just list brand names, ie. Goose Island rather than Goose Island Seasonal or IPA, when we asked our waiter he had no idea what kind of beers they had and did not offer to find out. We did eventually learn there were too many IPAs for us. The TV...does anyone want to watch a bloody movie with dinner?? I guess, but not us. We prefer espn or some such. Pricey for this area. This place is the total opposite of what it's former counterpart, Gunners, used to be. Complete and utter transformation from the hole in the wall bar with great wings to a cozy little farm to table restaurant. The ambiance is perfect for this small little area along Route 46. Too bad it was to cold to sit on the porch and watch the water flow by us. My mom ordered a medium burger with fresh cut fries. Now here is the reason that they are getting four stars instead of five. I ordered the appetizer Gran's Meatballs and I asked that I have a little bit of mozzarella melted on top. Brian told me that was doable until he put the order in. There was a woman throwing a fit in the back at the fact I wanted a little bit of cheese melted on top. Brian came back out and told me that I couldn't have it. He went back into the kitchen and was screamed at by the cook and then she was ok with putting cheese on my appetizer. She yelled at Brian to go get cheese and he came back with fresh mozz and she yelled at him for that. He came back out and got shredded mozz but the container he used for the cheese was unacceptable to this female cook. When I got my meatballs the sauce wasn't hot and barely warm and the meatball was cold in the center. My mom asked for a medium burger and I would be damned if that is a medium burger. The cute little dishwasher dropped a glass in the kitchen and Brian went to help and that gave the female cook in the back more reason to have another meltdown in the back. Maybe the owners need to reconsider having an open kitchen concept or maybe have a conversation with the woman cooking in the back that just makes the experience a bit uncomfortable. Maybe she needs to learn how to not talk down to people and use a normal respectful voice. I heard there is another male cook. Maybe I will come back when he is cooking so as not to hear someone degrading people who doesn't know how to cook a medium burger. read more

The side salad took like 15 minutes to arrive and the entrees were even longer...3 burgers and macaroni and cheese in a skillet. The 3 burgers were finally delivered. The one cheeseburger didn't have any cheese so it had to go back and when it returned it was cold. Back it went. The skillet still hadn't found its way to the table. Then the cheeseburger returned again but it was still coolish and seemed boiled and tasteless. I swear there was paper in it. 1/2 of it remained in the plate and the server didn't ask if ok or issues. The skillet finally arrived and the corn arrived even later... cool and tasteless. That also remained barely touched and the server did ask about that either. 4 meals to prepare and they didn't seem to be able to handle that. What was the kitchen doing? read more

Came here for the first time after someone mentioned how good the wings were....the recommendation was beyond solid. Wings are smoked then fried and so full of flavor. Among the best I've had in New Jersey and I've had ALOT of wings. Painfully slow service during the two visits I've made to this establishment. The pizza is average, the potato soup with sour cream mixed in created a sour taste and was an odd mixture of flavors to say the least. On a positive note, the steamed clams are amazing and aren't the tiny ones you typically receive when dining out. I'd make a visit to the Waters Edge again just to have them. Stopped in here on the way home from Skiing. Greeted promptly when we sat at the bar. The inside is recently renovated and looks nice. Food came out quick and hot. I got the Onion Soup burger, it was nothing short of amazing. With how the burger tasted they should consider doing a French onion soup.
