My surgeon cleared me to begin working with a personal trainer at four weeks post-op, and since I had dropped in a few classes with IFA last Spring, I knew where to go. Saro listened to my doctor's orders/restrictions and focused on helping me stabilize my core muscles at first while (not so subtly) teaching me solid long term lifestyle habits to make the effects of this surgery count for the long haul. I started seeing him once a week in September and have had 12 personal training sessions. In that time my endurance has shot threw the roof, I can almost squat my max and I can do (assisted) pull ups for the first time in my life!! (My butt also looks great ) Most importantly, I feel like I am in the best shape of my life. I have slowly increased to 6 training days a week, varying my workouts. I could not have gotten here so quickly or been so strong without the instruction of the coaches at IFA. I've started integrating into the classes now that I have recovered from the surgery and I really feel like part of a team. After being bored of the same thing I got to a point where I was so miserable and out of shape, eating bad and unmotivated. I was so unhappy with myself I didn't know what to do. A friend told me to come to a class and try it out. I was instantly hooked and signed up that day. Since starting in February I have made such progress. I used to not even be able to run down the stairs, even though I could lift heavy weights. I wasn't really in shape like I thought. Now I can run a mile, sprint 400+ meters and I have so much more cardio endurance then I've ever in my life. Every day is different and challenges something new inside you. I was so scared to start something new, something out of my comfort zone. I walked into class and realized it was just a bunch of people like me, all ages , all sizes and even women 9 months pregnant! The coaches are all amazing and help you through everything. They will scale your workout to your best availability's but also see your potential and give you that push you don't have on your own. There are always events going on to keep you motivated and give you a goal. The owner Chris and his wife Christi are amazing! They always help with nutrition and guidance, they are so well educated. Inside this warehouse it is so much more then a gym. This is a home and it comes with a family. The people I get to see every day, work side by side with and even in events out side of the gym have become A family. Everyone is so welcoming and everyone is cheering you on! No one wants to see you fail and no one will ever let you. This place has changed my life mentality and physically, inside the gym and in every aspect of my life. I have been a member here for 5 years but truthfully only been consistent for the last 2 perilous I was a flake and also working multiple jobs. The owner Frank is a gem, from day 1 he and his wife have always been supportive and always over deliver to their members. This gym is a place where people of all ages, fitness levels and body types get together to workout. I love the attitude and support of the community. I remember my first few months just wanting to stick to myself and get in and get out but it's just impossible! The staff is super helpful, friendly and they really genuinely make you believe that anyone can do it! But not in just a pipe dream but reality. I used to run a 14 minute mile in now down to under 9! If you have seen a Crossfit video, meme, joke and roll your eyes at the thought of Crossfit and the "Bro" culture that comes it it don't worry this place is not that.
