Happy to write a 5-Star for Wasabi. Tonight was just perfect. The waiter was kind, fun and cordial. The food was delicious...from the edamame to the creme brulee. The Tuna Millennium is a must, and the sushi rolls are fresh and flavorful. Try the Miso cod. The bartender makes great drinks. The owner walks the floor and knows the crowd like family. Wasabi is the perfect place for a date, to meet friends or to celebrate a birthday. A gift card to a friend will always be appreciated. On weekends you must make a reservation. I've never had sushi before (at least not real sushi besides the quick stuff at the check out line). My partner wanted to treat me and decided on this place since he loves sushi. First, it's hard as hell to find this place-- at least at night. I had to go through the physical numbers on the buildings to come across here, the sign isn't very prominent in my personal opinion. When you walk in the staff seems a bit meh at being there. The hostess first sat us between to large groups of people, and the seating is very compacted unless you're a large group. My partner asked for us to be reseated and the hostess gave us an "I guess so" look before dropping the menus at our new seats. The music in there is so loud and remixes of pop songs, think EDM rave but in a sushi restaurant. It definitely turned me off and I was having a hard time concentrating on reading the menu. Which is so large and bulky plus so many choices, very very VERY overstimulating to me. Anyways, our server came, who seemed nice enough but not particularly helpful in suggesting any items or going above and beyond. He didn't really serve us either, it was someone else who mainly brought out the food. First for appetizers, we ordered Seaweed Salad. It was fairly small and basic, dressed with soy sauce and tasted of sea salt (obviously). It wasn't my favorite and I won't order it again. I love seaweed this just wasn't for me. Also got the Chicken Tempura, which was such a highlight. There was crispy sweet potato, asparagus, broccoli, and of course the chicken. Everything was fried lightly and just a clean bite. The garlic aïoli was to die for truly. I also just love a sauce so I happily spread it over everything. Octopus carpaccio was also very simplistic, the octopus didn't offer much flavor on its own so it took up the flavoring of the soy sauce mixture. Octopus texture was pleasant to eat and sliced very thinly. The presentation was very pretty too. My partner wanted more though since this dish felt a bit incomplete and small. Onto the sushi, we got: Coconut Roll which was my first pick. It had an addictive flavor of sweet and savory. The inside was shrimp tempura with mango slices and a bit crunchy with the coconut flakes on the outside. I recommend trying this roll out! Spicy salmon roll: Not too spicy in flavor, the sauce definitely gave it a boost. The salmon itself was really tasty and left me satisfied when eating, the rice and seaweed were also pretty good. Basic choice but still good! Rainbow Roll: I took the liberty of ordering this one, such a treat! I will be interested in tasting more rainbow rolls in the future. The fish was so delicious and melted into a scrumptious bite. The avocado was also delightful and paired well with the fish. Alaska Salmon Roll: the last roll we ordered, it was slightly warm. The salmon tasted like butter and the shrimp tempura gave it a slight crunch when you bite into it. I kept going back to this roll over the course of the meal. Since this was my first sushi experience I have to say it was pretty decent though overpriced for what you get. I would rather have gone someplace a bit nicer and atmospheric, but this place will make due if you're in the area. read more

I'll start by saying We ordered food to go by phone. The process was seamless. When we arrived the places is nice. It's on a busy strip. The ambience is very sensual. Dark lighting, low music, candles. Perfect for a date night...wouldn't bring my kid. We were greeted upon entrance. Our food wasn't ready so we sat at the empty bar. I was surprised no one asked if we wanted to order a drink while we waited because we easily would've. Oh well. The food was good. We got a couple rolls including spicy salmon and spicy tuna. This is where my only complaint came in. Every single roll had tobiko on it. This was not included in the menu nor was that mentioned when ordering. It was okay but I'm not usually a huge tobiko lover so definitely wouldn't have wanted it on every roll. Also was priced a bit expensive. read more

Wasabi is only for those that crave sushi that happen to be in the area (this area has a lot to offer in walking distance and is safe) but only go if you have money in your wallet. $15-17 a roll... sushi per piece is around $4. Pricey apps. It was packed outside and empty inside and I see why. The place looks nice but service was not what I expected. The menu lights up but 1/3 of ours did not. Our Waiter was rude when they brought over our apps and said "why are you so excited ...this is just soy sauce"... the food was good quality but it is hard to laugh off the waiters vibe at the table. Why this place further fails as a date spot or meeting for friends also is the private female bathroom has 2 toilets next to each other with no divider and it became a inescapable topic of conversation of why any establishment would do that... the wasabi tobiko was a new experience and if you do like wasabi that is a must try. Maybe if you went alone and wanted a quick roll while at a festival or before drinking but this area has other food/establishments that I would prefer to go to. I would never drink there either. Had a great dinner here, edamame appetizer that came for free at the start was a nice and delicious surprise. Then we got a bunch of rolls. All were delicious! Good quality fish, I wish the spicy tuna and salmon were a bit more spicy & it was decently priced but we left at about $50 per person full and enjoy it a lot. read more

First time here for dinner with a small group. Seated promptly at reservation time after throwing down a round of drinks at the bar. Front windows were open to the street and the band was cooking next door- so a little loud and warm up front. Drink menus were mixed up with duplicate pages (multiple times) and the wine list lacks vintages...a pet peeve So we rode the Sake train with our meals, and really enjoyed a light, slightly sweet and fruity sake - drank them out of stock. Appetizers of calamari, beef negamaki, shrimp shumai and pork dumplings were all excellent. For dinner, most of the group ate the full boat - literally (see pic) a boat full of sushi and sashimi. I went for the "summer roll" (rice paper and peanut hoisin) and the Ahi Tuna roll, both of which were fantastic. Everyone raved about how fresh the fish was. Dessert of green tea cheesecake and another trio of stuff that we didn't really need but tasted very good also arrived. 0h my. Food baby followed - enjoyed it all. What an amazing meal! I've grown up eating sashimi and sushi in a friend's house, but never truly enjoying it. In one night, my view has changed, thanks to Wasabi. The meal was inspired, and the service friendly and helpful. I can highly recommend the tuna tartare, the octopus carpaccio, the Alaskan salmon, and the salmon belly, which almost melts in your mouth. The truffle gyoza was good, as well. Its been years since I was last at Wasabi's. Glad to be back and made a resolution to come back more often. This place just is a reason why you don't need to go to NYC to have a city vibe and great sushi bar experience. The decor, with several private small and mid sized tables and a scattering of lounge chairs separate from the bar area gives you various options depending on your mood or the size of your party. The staff were very nice an attentive. Loved the menu that lights up and the extensive list of both cocktail drinks and wines. A must try is the east west ceviche with a kick of wasabi, mango roll, and the pork buns. Also if you like plum wine, try the Tokyo martini. Today's dining experience is definitely worth giving 5 stars. Hope they keep up the good work! read more

Dined here with my fiancé last night & the sushi was so fresh. This restaurant has very high quality items. We ordered the popcorn chicken, crispy rice, kamikaze roll, wasabi roll, and mochi tasting. Was very impressed by the sushi however the crispy rice, which is typically spicy, was not. Overall, enjoyed this meal very much. Kim, the manager or owner, runs the place and is totally obnoxious and rude. I have been going there for years and have spent thousands of dollars; however, it was unknown to me until recently, just how unprofessional Kim is. My last two experiences were Uber delivery, and both were very wrong. Unfortunately, Kim blamed Uber as if they are the ones preparing the food. Truly unbelievable! Instead of an apology, I get blamed for not calling right away (they were closed when I called) and then that Iscrewed up the order (until I proved otherwise). She was looking for ANY excuse not to credit me for the wrong meal at a $100 clip and then another $75. So sad. read more

Been here a couple of times and I can't complain. Almost everything I have had here is incredible. Started lunch off with pork steamed dumplings. Can't complain. There were six dumplings that was a good size. Had the spicy tuna roll; this was good as well. All the rolls come as a six piece or eight piece. By far the best dessert here is green tea mascarpone cheesecake but I tried the black rice pudding, which is there soon on sticky rice. The mango was very sour and the rice wasn't sticky but the sugar level was ok. My only complain is the prices. Yes most Japanese restaurants come with a price tag but I think they need to have a lunch menu that is affordable. I easily spent $35 on lunch: this is usually a dinner amount. Nonetheless, service is good. It's slow in the afternoon so your waiter/waitress might be MIA. Wasabi thrives on presentation so every place looks amazing. read more

Walked in at 9 pm on a sat night and it was packed! Lucky for us there was one open table. Nice hip ambience - there was Christmas decorations! People dressed pretty nice (feeling a bit out of place in my leggings...lol). Definitely don't come to have a nice conversation cause it's pretty loud. Waiter was a bit rude, but they bought edamame as soon as we are seated. It was doused in salt though. Just sitting in the restaurant and looking through the menu(too many rolls with weird names haha)- I knew it wasn't going to be one of those traditional Japanese places. And they give you those cute dimsum silver tea pots when you order green tea. We ordered sautéed udon, uni, tuna sushi, and 2 wasabi boats. They give you soooo much soy sauce-it's literally in a tiny tea cup. Food takes a while to come...make sure you ration off your edamame. The udon was really salty. Don't get it. The uni was SO GOOD. The boats are hugee...sashimi is decent, rolls are okay-the rice is a bit funky-but the boats look good. The best thing on the boat was the soft shell tempura roll. I also ordered a tom yum soup (bad choice) - it tasted like miso soup with lemon. This is a good place to bring someone you want to impress. But the food is all right. read more

We have been going to Wasabi for about 14 years and although there have been ups and downs the experience has usually been pretty fantastic. The "recent" renovations, which were definitely needed, really spruced up the place and even made it more ambient than before. Our recent visit was a bit disappointing. We received a lukewarm greeting, the bar had Spanish sports channels on although there were no Latin customers (??), we had to listen to country music for an hour and a half which did not contribute to an "Asian" experience at all, we were given no warm towelettes to wash our hands, which is customary at Wasabi and the food was only so-so. This lead us to the conclusion that chef/owner Doug Chi Nguyen was either off or possibly even sold the restaurant. We will of course go back to Wasabi because it's one of the best restaurants in the area and that is why we want you to be aware of these issues. read more

Had the ceviche, the salmon was stringy and it was mostly liquid; that totally covered the tasted of everything with the dish. My entree the salmon it was over cooked and the ends were crispy. There some kind of crust on it, which just made the dish look as bland as it tasted. There was a Wasabi based sauce in the dis, the give away was that it was green.
