Awful food the few times I have ordered, but tried one more time with different choices than usual. This time I ordered hot sesame wontons. I have never ordered sesame anything so didn't know that it had peanut butter. Since I smelled peanut butter I had to throw it out immediately as I am ALLERGIC! What happened to this place? New owners, new management? Whatever. This place used to be great. For a time, 5 stars. It is now terrible. I just had lunch there and had the worst tasting, least appetizing, bland tasteless Pad Thai I have ever had in my life. It wasn't even warm. Noodles were literally gray. I've never seen Pad Thai noodles look like that. The chicken was absolutely tasteless. I left 3/4's of it on the plate. Then when I was eating the fortune cookie, there was a part that was completely inedible. I thought: did I eat the fortunate by mistake? I was spitting out pieces of indigestible fortune cookie all the way home. My suggestion: go to the bar, order a double and stay away from the Thai food. Zero stars. read more

I'm trying hard to like this place and have made several visits recently. It is nearby and my understanding is that they have new owners. This is nice spacious restaurant with ample parking located just a couple of miles from downtown Nyack. They bring really good fried noodles with duck sauce when you are seated, along with hot tea...really nice. And their homemade hot mustard is very hot, but excellent. The menu is very interesting and generally a good value...and they serve Japanese as well. They have some tasty dishes and I am especially fond of their garlic sauce, which I often order for my sauce. So why only three stars? Every time I am there I get something that is lukewarm or just plain cold. Usually, it's the wonton soup that is not at temperature and the inside of the wontons has been downright cool. I expect that at a buffet, but not here. It is so odd. It makes me feel like they are serving leftover food from the previous night. I hope they get it together and figure out what the issue is, but getting cold food at a sit-down Chinese restaurant is not going to fly. read more

The food here is pretty good. I came with a party of nine and we shared a bunch of dishes and appetizers. They have a broad selection of Chinese, Sushi and Thai. The service was fairly quick and we were seated promptly. The inside is much bigger than it appears. There is a Japanese side and a Chinese side. read more

It's likely the best Chinese food in Rockland County! We went there last weekend and were so happy with the entire experience. We started with the Steamed vegetable Dumplings and the egg rolls. Both were great. My wife had the General tso chicken, I had the Capital Chicken and my daughter had the Spicy Dragon sushi. All three dishes were scrumptious and the large portions allowed us to enjoy the leftovers the next day. The restaurant is a warm casual place with nice decor. The service was excellent. Golden Mushroom - "Supposedly" sashimi! - Chinese Near Me - Nyack, New York

So I haven't been to golden mushroom in quite some time. I used to really like it there but no more. First of all we were going to sit in the bar area but it was freezing and smelled really bad. We should have left right away but we decided to sit in the dining room . It was so cold in there that the wait staff were wearing puffer coats zipped up. Silverware and plates were cold. I ordered hot and sour soup that was slimy and cold. My friend ordered pad Thai that was gray and totally unappetizing and I ordered shrimp with lobster sauce. As I was sitting there freezing waiting for my dinner I looked around and was shocked at the utter filth around us. The walls were filthy, there was a filthy broom and dust pan sitting in full view sitting next to a table with plates and bowls on it. It was disgusting. We wondered if this is what they allowed us to see we can only imagine what the kitchen looked like! We promptly got our food to go and threw it in the dumpster. It's only a matter of time before someone gets food poisoning there if it hasn't happened already. I'm still nauseous thinking about it. read more

Finally, an old style Chinese restaurant with a bar. Food was good, beef Chow Fun, boneless spare ribs and a Spring Roll. Everything was fresh, and the drinks (a Zombie and hot sake) were excellent. Prices were very reasonable. A little far from home, but worth the trip. read more

Terrible service!!! We'll never go back. We were constantly rushed. We waited 30 minutes to be seated at a restaurant, which happened to be empty. We eventually sat, and the waiter arrived 10 minutes later. He rushed us with taking our orders and didn't even let us purchase drinks. I've never before gone through anything like this . We experienced discrimination. All the other diners around us were all Caucasian, and the treatment was different. STAY AWAY. read more

I have been coming here for years. It's one of the few places that serves you both tea and homemade Chinese noodles as soon as you sit down. They have a white linen tablecloth and comfortable table and chairs. So you have privacy. The food is always good. read more

I love their food! My favorite are the crab Rangoons, although I don't think there's much 'crab' in them. On the weekend they get good business. I recommend trying the food. However... there are some negatives. They don't do combos at all, so you have to pay for each individual item. Not to mention it's very over priced, and they regularly get my order wrong. So I'll pay more than I do anywhere else and not get what I wanted. read more

Golden mushroom is just fine in our humble Brooklyn opinion. Some of the reviews are laughable. Of course the combo went up from 6$! Hahah. Cost of goods are sky high right now. The food is decent. Surprisingly good Peking duck situation. Fried rice is exceptional as is general tso. The sushi should be forgotten, as should the Thai dishes. Focus on the classic Chinese takeout dishes and you won't be disappointed. read more

This used to be a great place to go for lunch and dinner. From what I understand they sold the place. The much special went from $6 to $9. It's supposed to be until 3pm but if you get there after 2:15pm they tell you is over. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. And judging by how Empty it usually is, neither does anyone else. To make matter even worse, the waiters seem too busy to make sure sure you have what you need or Offer you water with your food unless you go out of your way to ask for it. Stay away. We've been coming here for years and fondly remember our waiter, Jack who must have retired. I ordered my usual shrimp bento box which was ok but the California roll tasted off which spoiled the whole lunch for me. The egg drop wonton soup mix was very watery, too. I am an alumni of Nyack College (RIP) and the Golden Mushroom has been a faithful standby for many years. We do a string orchestra concert every semester and the long standing tradition is to order Golden Mushroom delivery for the evening of the dress rehearsal and concert. The arrival is usually prompt and the order is accurate. The delivery man is friendly and courteous. Our usual order is a few trays of of General Tso's chicken, spare ribs, tofu and veggies, mei fun noodles with veggies, and both boiled and fried dumplings. Reliably tasty, hot and fresh. The chicken is crispy, the sauce a good blend of sweet and tart. The tofu and veggies usually has a flavorful sauce and for a vegetarian dish, is quite good. Overall, can give a solid recommendation for take out. read more

First time at this restaurant and we came with no preconceived notions, since we were just in the area looking to have dinner and saw this place. I must say that the food was excellent. We got the Golden Star (shrimp, beef, & chicken with a scallion pancake) and chicken & broccoli. The meals were flavorful with the right amount of spices and we definitely enjoyed them. At this point I'm at 5 stars. Then there was the service. From the beginning it felt like we were imposing on our waiter to take care of us. He was gruff, uncaring, and gave the vibe that he'd rather be at the dentist than doing this. We had ordered a soup and vegetable roll to start. The soup came out in a few minutes, and the veg roll came out literally ten minutes later. Even a newbie waiter knows you wait to serve until both are ready, especially since soup can be plated at a moment's notice. He got annoyed when five minutes after the soup arrived I asked where the veg roll was. After the main courses were served, he never came back to our table, even though we saw him towards the back of the room. I only got a refill on water when I got up and found someone with a pitcher. I also had to get up and go to the front desk to ask for our check. I got a better workout here than I would at a gym. There are other Chinese restaurants in Rockland with excellent food and much better service. No reason for us to come back here. read more

It's typical American style Chinese food. Didn't try Japanese but Thai dish was mediocre. Service was per Chinatown, seemed annoyed taking orders and managed to forget some items here and there (ladies working there are better) General tso was waaaaay too much source...and not enough chicken. Zero veggie was another turn off. Chx and broccoli was very good. Dim sum was total disaster, it was just a shumai dumpling. Did I miss small writing??? Overall this is Nyack and it's descent. I also really don't get the harsh reviews about this spot. I went today and excellent service and really tasty food. Most of the food in Nyack is average at best, but Golden Mushroom is definitely above average. Clean, quiet, quick, and good. It will become my regular local Chinese spot. Everytime I order something here, it really is not fresh nor exceptional. Today I ordered delivery, a spider roll and a salmon dinner box, and my order came without the tempura sauce and they just forced me to wait nearly half an hour to have it delivered, when I would have been fine with promorional credit instead...because by the time it arrived, my food was cold. I ordered a spider roll, and let me tell you, it smelled and tasted rancid. Like mold. I have never had a spider roll look or taste like the one I ordered here. The sushi here I already knew was sub par compared to authentic Japanese sushi, but the spider roll was soft and not crunchy, and looked MUSHY. Everything on it smeled and tasted old. Am I really being served second hands or something? The week before I tried the Thai ho fun and it tasted like I was eating plain bland noodles with no sauce. And I have had thai rice noodle entrees elsewhere that I have loved before. The time previous to that in which I ordered, I asked for some inari, and the price on the menu was different than the new one that they had (they upped it a dollar) and when I told her that she didn't tell me after I ordered, she just said "oh well, we can change the prices at any time." then when I asked for it to be removed from my delivery order she just said no because the driver was on the way already. And she didn't tell me the price subtotal after I ordered because she said the computer was down so she would call me back and tell me the price. How unprofessional? You don't even give me the price initially then change it afterwards? To make the matters worse, the inari was BARELY stuffed with sushi rice. It was like a teaspoon fo rice in the huge pockets. Nearly 6 dollars for 2 pieces of that? You're better off ordering japanese food from a real japanese restaurant. Especially with the unhelpful customer service, not worth giving your business to them. read more
