Veronica was so nice. i came w my family & had burgers & musibi. the draft beer was delish. my picky nephew didn't know there would be mayo on his bun. which is clearly stated & i read but of course he didn't haha (i just ordered for myself & my daughter). they were kind enough to remake his. staff is wonderful & food is great, i loved the sweet potato fries.

The worst "kalbi" I've ever had

This is supposed to be kalbi but is the worst thing I've ever tasted. The texture is extremely dry and chewy. It also tastes bitter which makes me question if it is safe to eat. This is so disappointing because I've had good food from here in the past but I don't think I will ever come back.

Been in a few times before and i remembered enjoying the food. This time we popped in for a midafternoon meal before heading back to San Jose. We ordered on the kiosks but someone was nearby to answer our questions. Lots of yummy plate lunch and side options to satisfy your cravings. I ordered the katsu and a side of Mac salad and my bestie ordered the teriyaki chicken with rice. Lots of space to sit outside and enjoy the ocean breeze.

It's in progress of getting revamped and still has outdoor seating options. Still gives a tropical beachy vibe for some Hawaiian food. We got the loco moco and chicken katsu plate. Mac salad has less mayo than other places and it's very tasty. Always has friendly staff at the cashier. Limited sparking spaces.

Great discovery!! I had their poke tuna, coconut shrimp!! Poke was very well seasoned Great service and casual ambient like Hawaii!!! :) Chicken teriyaki my friend had was nicely seasoned and grilled!! Definitely going back next time!!

Stumbled upon this shop as we were driving down to Capitola and what a happy accident it was! I wish I lived around this area cause I would surely be here at least once a month. Both the food and the staff were warm and inviting! It's a great, chill spot to grab a beer on tap/ Hawaiian sun and plate lunch that'll satisfy any appetite and transport you back to Hawaii with that yummy authentic taste from the kahlua pork, pork katsu, and mac salad!

I've been here a year before, and I loved it, so I went back. They were doing some renovation, so the back room was closed off. I ordered a manapua, 3 spam musubis, chicken katsu plate and kalbi plate. The food was just meh. The manapua tasted good, but it could use more filling. And a little small for the price ($5+). The spam musubis were just spam straight out of the can on plain rice wrapped with seaweed. The spam was not fried and barely had any sauce on it. The rice is definitely not sushi rice. For $4.50 each, definitely steep and not worth it. The kalbi plate was also a miss. Yes, the portions were good, but that's the only good thing I could say about it. The kalbi marinade was soy sauce heavy, and just did not taste that good. The mac salad was bland. The only thing that was good was the chicken katsu. It was nice and crunchy. They have a menu on the wall, but most of the things I asked for were not on it. I only know they had it from Yelp. I had to ask her for them. She said they are available just not on the wall menu. Is it so hard to add them to the wall menu that's written in chalk? The last time I was here, the vibe was totally Hawaiian hole-in-the-wall place, which I loved. I understand that the staff is mostly Hispanic, so they were blasting (really loud) Hispanic music. It wasn't island-type music at all. This is a Hawaiian joint. Play island music. It just lost the Aloha-vibe. Good thing I was taking everything to go. Will probably not go back here, and will try the other Hawaiian places in Santa Cruz next time I am in the area.

the food is always incredible & the staff is super friendly!! long time customer & i've ordered most menu items by now -- never any complaints :) it's a small spot loved by locals, and the food speaks for itself. 10/10 recommend!! i apologize for not having better photos -- i truthfully always dig in & completely forget to take a pic today i ordered takeout w my boyfriend and kiddo, we called ahead of time to check about an allergy, and Naia answered & was so helpful!! she was very confident in her answers, but still double checked with someone else before guaranteeing no cross contamination. very empathetic & sweet to us both on the phone and in person! working in customer service myself, it's always such a treat being somewhere with great service!! I think Naia has helped us here before & she's always great! as a note to the staff -- thank you for always providing great food & service!!

This is what I got. Kalua pig with a garnish of raw cabbage.

I haven't been here in a few years, and honestly, I was very disappointed today. I ordered the Kalua pig and cabbage. While the meat was good, when a dish is listed as this one was, I expected a lot more cabbage. All I got was a little bit of raw cabbage sprinkled on top, like a garnish. Also, traditionally the cabbage is cooked. Unless I get desperate for Hawaiian food, I won't return.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in is the smell. It smelled of cleaning chemicals but with stinky water. When we arrived and throughout our meal, we were the only ones there. The cashier was very friendly and patient while I navigated the menu. I ordered the kalua pork and cabbage. Most things here are probably pre-cooked and heated up to serve. Our meal came out pretty quickly. I was very disappointed because there was maybe 3% cabbage and the rest was very salty pork. I usually like a minimum of 30% cabbage mixed with my pork. The rice looked old, but it was actually soft and moist. The green salad was way overdressed. I did steal a couple of pieces of my husband's teriyaki steak which was good. It was tender and well-seasoned. He said the teriyaki chicken was dried out. The prices would be reasonable if the food was decent, but it really wasn't worth it. They have a few parking spaces, and since we were the only ones there, it was no problem getting a space.

    Food is good…read more Great

Let me start by saying I am a very regular customer - I have come once or twice a week, nearly…read moreevery week, for the past 2 or 3 years. Their food is great, & I love the poke. I would've given this place 5 stars in the past, but their recent employees' service is extremely, extremely poor. Due to other responsibilities, I am often arriving about 30mins before close. There have been several occasions where they are cleaning up already, even 30mins before closing time. This leads to certain items being cleaned up/removed from display before they close, & their go to answer is that "they dont have anymore available for the day." It happens most often with the avocado, although it can also be other ingredients. This happens too often to be true, & on a few occasions, Ive had an employee go to the back & retrieve a small amount of avocado to add to my poke bowl, which is the appropriate action to take, but demonstrates 1. theyre not actually out & are being dishonest with customers & 2. they are cleaning things up & putting them away before it's an appropriate time to do so. Additionally, there was a time my fiancé & I arrived at 6:30pm & the worker helping us was so eager to close that as they rung us up they kept asking, "anything else? Anything else?" to rush us out of the restaurant. We both felt rushed & pressured, & when they asked "anything else?" & my fiancé went to look at the drinks to consider getting one, she continued to ask "anything else?" multiple times over before he even had a chance to look at what was available. He never even had a chance to look at what was available because she wanted to rush us out. This service is extremely dissatisfying, dishonest, & lacks integrity. From someone who comes once a week for years, the service has significantly gone downhill, & I do hope this is addressed in the future by leadership.
