They know what they are doing. I've used them for over 12 years. I know dozens of neighbors of mine who use them regularly and are delighted with their honesty, great prices, professional friendly staff and they are set apart from other companies who do a little of this and that. They specialize in exotic wood decks and that's why I use them. These decks require special care and a typical contractor doesn't offer that. Sadly it's always the nasty people that take time to complain while thousands of others are super happy but dont have time to comment on the everyday things that get done right. We used WMD to sand, wash, and put down oil on our ~750 sqft IPE (Brazilian hardwood) deck. We initiated (i.e paid 2/3 of the estimate) in mid-April 2024 and the deck was mostly finished in early June 2024; they claimed we were "in the que" and weather caused the delay. They completely missed applying the oil one rail and multiple spots on the deck and did not wipe up the excess oil (causing it to be sticky); we notified them immediately, with pictures, of the incomplete/unprofessional quality of work. They said they would have someone out to fix it; no one showed (to complete a less than 30 min job). In late September, we got a bill (threatening to go to collections) for the balance. We reiterated the incomplete job, to include the timeline, and were again told someone would be out; a "technician" did show up and watered (not washed) the deck and was gone in 15 minutes. We have had to clear our deck of furniture, plants, grill, etc..., multiple times, waiting for the technician to arrive (i.e. we haven't been able to fully use our deck all season). If you plan to call them, don't bother as they don't answer and don't return calls. If you have an IPE deck, we strongly suggest you don't use this company due to their poor quality of work and customer service...the headaches dealing with them are not worth it. 1. Steve Chapman's customer service skills lacks all elements of "customer service." The way he responded to my emails was condescending, arrogant, and a lot of finger-pointing that it's our fault we're not satisfied for something we did not order AND he demands to get paid. 2. He suggested to have their crew call before arrival. I gave him 2 phone numbers to make sure we dont miss. Found a door hanger that service was already done. No phone call. 3. Asked for POWER WASH and apparently an order for just DECK WASHING was placed. Even though there was an email for my order and when I spoke to JoAnn, I corrected her that we want POWER WASH and not deck wash, we still got the wrong service. 4. Oh and by the way, they claim deck wash 'Removes mold, mildew and dirt.' Uhm well, there still is mold and mildew on our deck so obviously they can't do a simple deck wash either. See photos. 5. Dont expect someone to pick up your call. Leave a message, wait a day...or two. Same with emails. Reading the previous bad reviews, there seems to be a pattern here with Steve's customer service, communication and quality of work. We hired this company to clean and stain our deck. A technician came to clean our 700 square foot deck and front porch and sidewalk, he was gone in 40 minutes!!! Deck was not clean, sidewalk still had moss growing on it! We sent pics to the company and were told that he saved water by working so quickly. The initial email said cleaning the deck alone would take 1-3 hours and that they would move one table and 4 chairs, they removed NOTHING! We were then sent an invoice for $500, unbelievable! Had my deck stained several years ago worker got stain on my vinyl siding and I didn't complain. I have never used them since. Maybe I should have because they continue to Robo-Call and send advertising post cards. I have requested they stop and take my address off their mailing list politely and no response. Can't get anyone over the phone and have mailed requests but the hits just keep on coming! Stains are still on vinyl over 15 years. Sent one guy to stain a huge deck and in heat of the summer disastrous. And it was hard to get a call back When they finally showed up the sanded my deck in less than 20 minutes!!!!!! Wow!!! And the job showed what 20 minutes was worth. Absolutely terrible. The didn't even sand under the built in bench. The steps looked like they were not touched at all. As far as the previous stain, there were bits of it sticking up.... nothing was sanded smooth. For starters, they should honor their warranty. I had my deck pressured washed then stained and sealed in October 2019. In April 2020, my deck was already peeling. 3yr warranty. They want me to pay them again ($156) to re-purchase the product they: a- applied incorrectly b- used inferior cheap product or c- all of the above. I have called numerous of times to get upper management to call me back. Elizabeth refuses to provide me a number to talk to anyone but her. spent over $1k and is pissed. I shouldn't have to pay for anything warranted for 3 years and its peeling after 5 months. GARBAGE!!!!! Disappointing - Been trying calling and waiting for three days to make deposit and get sand/stain scheduled - and finally made contact earlier this week but told "no definitive schedule date & time for 3+ weeks out and we'll be updated with weekly emails to advise to 2 days out" ? The whole process shared with us from start to finish was to take 2/3 weeks weather permitting - this pushes us out past 5+ weeks and their "open scheduling" didn't work when we had to keep chasing date / time for power washing schedule which didn't happen on date promised - and also did not happen a second time when it was re-scheduled for next day at a time they chose (delay not weather related). Quality of service/work was poor/sub-par as previously shared with this company via email and pictures of dirty horizontal surface of railing. We cancelled moving forward and didn't expect to pay $185 for less than acceptable power washing quality service/work for less than a 250 square foot deck. Extremely disappointing - never owned up to poor quality work or addressed delayed issue which if you read previous reviews is a common complaint about this company who does NOT live up to their guarantee = "Our Job Is Not Done Until You Are Satisfied! We hired Wash My Deck in August 2018 to powerwash our deck and then to re-stain/seal it. They sent a crew out to powerwash the deck, stripping it of its existing seal and paint, but they never came back to do the staining and sealing that we paid a deposit for. It took me more than seven months even to get a partial refund, with one broken promise and missed appointment date after another. However they next step was staining but the previous paint was not removed during the washing portion. The original tech dumped out stain in my mulch bed and then tried to hide the puddles with a Frisbee and a planter that were sitting close by in the yard. Absolute losers. What an atrocious company. Their website says "100% satisfaction guaranteed", but that's a complete LIE. They hired a "seasonal" worker to perform a deck wash and stain and the guy covered the surrounding area with stain. When I called to complain the customer service rep was rude and condescending, but was snarky enough to imply he didn't give a care. All they wanted was their money. I took dozens of pics and asked over 10 times to speak to a manager. No one ever called me back. I am in the process of a job to power-wash and re-stain my deck. I requested a quote in June and it's September and the job is still not complete. We had the power washing done relatively quickly at the beginning of July, and then we were placed in a pending file for weeks. I had a question about the different types of stains that I was never able to get an answer from the receptionist, and this lead me to spend some more time in the pending file while I chose a stain color. Finally, when someone came out to do the another powerwashing since it had been done so long ago form the first one, they discovered that the stain I had chosen would not work with the current stain on the deck. I am not sure why this issue could not have been determined when the quote was prepared. I have found that the management to be courteous and responsive (when you can reach them). We have to call and e-mail multiple times just to see where we are in their work process. It's very frustrating. I will write an update once the work is completed. read more

Buyer Beware! I initially made an appointment with Elite Pressure Cleaning to clean and stain my deck. The lady on the phone offered me Wednesday, Thursday or Friday of the following week. One of the conditions of the work is that you have to clear your deck off. (They will move a barbecue grill, a table, and four chairs, but we have a lot more than that on our deck.) I knew I wouldn't be home Tues night and unable to clear the deck off, so I planned to clear the deck off Weds night and I made the appointment for Thurs. I also gave them a credit card number over the phone to charge a deposit on the job. Fast forward to Tues, for two other factors beyond my control, I was unable to support having the deck work done that week. I called Elite Pressure Cleaning to cancel my appointment. The lady searched their records and she could find no record under my name or address. Uhhhh... okay. I thought that was odd and maybe I got companies mixed up and maybe I made the appointment with a different company by mistake. So I went on our online bank to see what company charged us for the deposit. Nothing. Nobody ever charged us for the deposit. I figured this whole telephone reservation thing didn't work out with them and I don't have anything to worry about then, right? Wrong. Weds afternoon, my phone rang at work, and my very confused wife reported she just got home to find all the stuff had been moved off our deck and it looked like someone had cleaned our deck, and there was an invoice from Elite Pressure Cleaning hanging on the front door. I immediately called Elite Pressure Cleaning and left a message there, and I sent the owner an email expressing my concern that his company (a) wasn't supposed to do any work until Thursday, and (b) wasn't supposed to do any work PERIOD because I called to cancel the day before. The owner very quickly responded to my email via BlackBerry and said he would look into it. That was the last I heard from the company for a couple of weeks. I had figured they started the job, so I might as well have them finish the job, but I couldn't get in contact with the owner. ...Then I received a bill in the mail from Elite Pressure Cleaning for the deck cleaning work they did. I tried calling again and left a message again. I emailed again and said I didn't think I should be charged for unauthorized work. The owner responded via email that they maintain a log of all phone calls and have no record of me calling on Tuesday. He said he asked each of his 3 staff members if any of them remember me calling, and they all said no. Since he has no record of me calling to cancel, he said the charge for the deck cleaning stands. I think the company made five errors: Error #1) They scheduled the appointment for the wrong day. I asked for Thursday, and they put it on their schedule for Wednesday. Error #2) They didn't follow up with any sort of email or written form of contract to confirm the scheduled date the work was to be performed. Error #3) They didn't charge my credit card for the deposit like they said they would. If I had seen that, I would have called back after looking at the bank records and said, "Hey, you charged my credit card for the deposit, so I've gotta be somewhere on your schedule." Error #4) When I called to cancel the appointment, the lady didn't see my name on the Thursday schedule, so she couldn't cancel it. This is error-carried-forward from Error #1 and 2 above. If I had something in writing with a job order number on it, then I could have referenced that when I called to cancel. (Or better yet, I would have realized they scheduled it for the wrong day.) Error #5) When the deck cleaners arrived at our house and found a LOT more than just a barbecue grill, table, and four chairs on the deck, they didn't stop to ask if this was okay. I had: barbecue grill, patio table, 6 patio chairs, kid's picnic table, an end table, two large potted plants, two hanging baskets with plants in them, two metal hanging hooks for the plants, four tiki torches, and a tupperware bin with a bunch of kids toys in it. This would have been a great opportunity for the company to call and say, "Hey, we're here to do the work on your deck, but you didn't clear the deck off in accordance with your part of the (verbal, not written anywhere) agreement. Would you like for us to remove the additional items for an additional fee? Then we could have said, "No! Stop! You are NOT authorized to do work on our house!" The owner continues to insist that he has meticulous records of incoming phone calls and claims that I never called, so therefore I owe him for the deck cleaning that was done. I paid to prevent him from charging me late fees or submitting it to a collection agency or placing a lien on my house. I went to the BBB website to file a complaint, and discovered this company already has a "C-" grade due to the number of complaints filed and time they take to resolve complaints. read more

Washing part was just OK but weeks after that I caught the guys, who it seems were subcontracted out, starting to stain without sanding first which I initially paid for and was in the contract. They ended up not sanding and getting over-spray stain on the siding because they did not use plastic sheeting to protect the home, which their website said the worker are supposed to do. Had to get goof-off from home depot to remove as best I could. I tried many times to call and email but was ignored. They only responded after a month or so but by then I told them I was not going to send them the any more money. After all I went through they had the nerve to send the balance of the breached contract to a collections agency and from there forwarded to an attorney. I made the mistake last summer 2021 of hiring WASH MY DECK ! The estimate was thorough but very expensive. I was asked to submit a 60% deposit and told I would be contacted in 3-5 weeks for the process of cleaning to be started. The next week I get a call at work from someone who is at my house to pressure wash the deck ? OK . The following week someone shows up to stain the deck but informs me that my deck is dirty and needs to be cleaned. I told him that is was cleaned within the last 8 days by his group! He says well they really don't have a stain that is anywhere near the color I have and there is too much pollen anyway so why don't I just leave it the way it is ?! He told me to call the office in the morning and cancel the rest . Joanne in the office was Not happy and it took over 6 weeks to get a refund by mail even though I had paid by credit card!! My husband and I currently in process of having our deck serviced by "Wash My Deck." We are the endusers and are the onsite POCs for scheduling the work process through completion wirh this company. Its communication is much less than professional and punctual. They were contracted the last week of May 2017 to powerwash and stain our 3rd floor covered condo deck. An estimator came the 1st week of June. A technician came on June 8th to powerwash the deck and did an amazing job. He was given a tip to reflect our appreciation. He told us he or another tech would be back within 1 week to complete staining. After many telephone calls and emails to this company. Then I received payment due mail notices and threats that they would report me to collections. When I called in early November the person I spoke with said there was an issue with their systems. Then she asked if I still needed the service. I said I did and it was scheduled for the next day. The work was done satisfactory and I paid by check through my bank. They cashed my check on 11/27/19. Then on 12/6/19, a woman left a threatening voicemail for me. She said, "Hello Roxann. This is Wash My Deck. After numerous attempts to collect payment from you, we are making one final payment (sic). If the payment is not received by December 16, the debt will be turned over to an outside collection agency. This will be reported against your standing credit. After we have turned over your debt to a collection agency we cannot help you from there. Please call our office with Visa or Mastercard. Thank-you and have a great day! Needless to say I did not have a great day. I tried calling the number given repeatedly on Monday evening and Tuesday throughout the day. No one answers and it goes to voicemail. I left a voicemail and wrote an e-mail. I filed a BBB complaint. On Wednesday morning I received a reply to my e-mail from Jeanette Peterson. She wrote, "Hello Roxzanne, Can you send me a copy of the check to this email please? Thanks" I called the number on the original flyers that I still had: 571-405-7596. Jeanette answers this line. I recognized her voice as the woman who left the voicemail. She asked is I sent a copy of the check. I said I did but asked if she would apologize for the harassing voicemail. She said: No I was doing my job. She hung up on me. Then she replied to my e-mail where I attached the cancelled check, "Thanks for the proof." It is not incumbent on me to prove that I paid them when they cashed my check. This woman was so disrespectful. There was no apology for the way my account was handled or how they treated me. The scheduler said I didn't need to be home but I specifically asked that the estimator contact me before coming to make sure I was here. The deck/porch cleaning and re-staining have some complicating factors I needed to discuss. Fast forward to today. I looked out my window this afternoon to see someone on my property and then drive away. I called WashMyDeck (answered by a rude woman who didn't even announce the company's name) and confirmed that was their guy who had completed the estimate. Right. I checked my CCTV cameras. The guy pulled up to my home and got out of the car at 3:44 pm. Walked out back, looked up at my porch at 3:45 with a clipboard in hand. Walked back to his car at 3:46 and pulled away. I kid you not. Man! This company SUCKS!!!! The Name is Elite Pressure Cleaning and the website is Washmydeck.com ....confusing! So not to mention the many many scheduling errors on their part and no shows and showing up weeks later. After which I called twice and left voice mails to never get a call back. Calling a third time I reached Samantha "Sam" and she informed me that she was the only one in the office and that she had been out sick with a stomach bug or something but that she had never gotten my voice mails but that she would get right on it and send us a bill. Fast forward 4 months later, I get an e-mail saying that if we don't pay our bill within 48 hours it will be sent to collections. Keep in mind we haven't heard from them in 4 months. So, I call and she mentions that it was fine and that she would mail me the invoice. LIE! So I get the letter from the collections company before I get the invoice. NO KIDDING! So then...I call my dear friend "Sam" back and ask her to explain how I never even got the 48 hours notice stated in the e-mail. And let me quote my dear friend, Sam, "Let me explain, so I faxed the list over to collections and then realized I never sent the e-mail. The e-mails were supposed to go out 48 hours before I sent them over to collections but then there was a computer glitch and the e-mails never went out. When I spoke to you, I called the collections company and told them not to contact you and to wait because I spoke to you." Did I mention all of this happened on December 20th? I am not at all happy with the end result of having my house power washed by Washmydeck. While the house itself is clean now, the employee who washed it soaked my motion sensor lights on the outside of my garage so much that they smoked and shorted the lights out. This in turn shorted everything connected to power on the outside of the house on that same circuit. I know it was caused by the washer as he told me it happened when he called to tell me the work was complete. As a result, I had to have an electrician come out and rewire and replace the lights as well as the surge protector outlet. I called the company's office two times and left 2 messages (you can never get someone to pick up the phone) asking that they call me back to see how they can compensate me for the damage caused by them, and I was never called back. Used these guys in 2012 and they did a great job. Tried really hard to use them in 2016 and failed. Here's my story, hope it helps both Yelp users and the company. About a year after their great service in 2012, we got a letter from their president saying he was sorry for the bad service and promised things would improve. Odd to us, but whatever... Fast forward to present. I called them on a Monday based on an internet coupon for a deck washing. I also wanted them to stain/seal the deck. They gave me the coupon price for the washing, but said they would need to come inspect the deck in order to price the stain. They said they had "changed computer systems" and didn't have any records from my job in 2012 anymore. They said they couldn't start for 4 weeks. Wednesday, I found a bag on my door showing they had been there to inspect the deck, but no quote. I called them up, they were very apologetic, and promised to email the quote over right away. When it arrived Thursday, it was for a different name, address, and deck size, so I immediately replied to the email asking for a correction. No response to the email, so I called them back up the following Monday. Again very apologetic, and promised to again email the quote over. 3 more business days, no response. Contacted another vendor who did the inspection, washing, and staining all within 2 weeks. But that's not the end of the story. They just called me to tell me that they had cancelled all deck washing today (I guess because it rained last night?) and wanted to know when I would like to reschedule. Disorganization is one thing, but apparently they were trying to do the work without actually having a written contract with me. I'm no lawyer, but I'm pretty sure it's illegal to do work like this in Virginia without a contract. Plus if something goes wrong, like if they were to damage your property or change the price on you, with no contract, things could get messy and possibly legal very fast. In my case, what would I have had to do if they power washed my brand new stain off my deck? Glad I don't have to find out. I think I'm really lucky it rained last night. Everyone I've talked to there has been polite and professional over the phone, so I can't complain about the people. I had to take pictures and send, email then call to tell them that the work was not completed. During the phone call they told me that they do not clean windows or sills. The siding was still dirty in spots. Exterior of gutters were still dirty. The trim around the windows was still dirty. So I cleaned all of the windows and sills myself. I explained that I wanted to be here for the follow up visit. That second appointment was cancelled on me. I called the following day and my call was handled very rudely and I was hung up on during the call because she got mad that I was complaining. Destroyed My Walkway and Could Have Cared Less - Contracted to clean pool deck, wood deck and walkways. Tech failed to show up, or call, for first appointment when I had arranged to be home to supervise. Office rescheduled and told me they were sending "their very best tech" and I did not need to be home. I came home after service was performed to discover every speck of stone dust from my 100 foot long front walk had been aggressively removed and blown into my lawn during cleaning. I wanted to cry! I have had to re-apply all the stone dust and make the repair myself. Wash My Deck made no offer to repair or refund the cost of service. I hired deck washing to save time. I spent longer repairing my walk, in back-breaking stone labor, than it would have taken me to rent a power washer and do the power-washing myself. Despite written emails there was an apology, but no offers to refund or repair my walk. I ended up being out both my time and my money. Buyer beware. I would not recommend this company. read more

Elite did a fantastic job cleaning and staining our deck. We recieved a flyer with a promotional price, which they not only honored, but didn't require us to buy all of their services for the full discount. They were prompt with the service appointments and did a great job at keeping us informed during the process. We had one slight billing mixup, which Emily in the main office corrected immediately. This is a tale of a company who strives to fail! Please consider anyone else other than this company--that means the shady guy with a rusted out van; someone who nails fliers to street sign posts; a high school student; or even your shady uncle that nobody trusts. The problems with this company started out the gate, and we were blind to the red flags. Why? Because of the glowing and 'heart warming' stories on their website. But here's the truth: do not buy into any of their false claims including the 'Apples to Apples' guarantee or their affiliation to the Bull Run Rotary (Edit: after contacting the Rotary they have since removed this posting. Who on earth is part of the Rotary and acts in a manner to generate business? Easy--a fraudster!!). Our personal experience is as follows. IF you'd elect to choose this company, THEN expect someone who: - Provides an a-la-carte price quote for services that don't apply (e.g., stain a Trex deck) - Does no show up on the advertised day to wash the deck - Tell you that happens often, which is ironic given their guarantee - Calls you at work because they don't understand how to unscrew your hose from the faucet - Does not cover personal items, which then get caked in dirt/debris - Fails to give you a 24 hour notice of the stain job, so they have to reschedule - Stains not only your deck but your siding, cable box, AC unit, grass, rocks, AND the best part--your neighbor's brand new patio - Breaks part of your Trek deck and then blames it on rusting and says the Trex piece is bad (No doubt it's bad...because your team broke it) - Fails to send you an accurate invoice and laughs it off as 'no big deal' - Sends you multiple invoices after a check was already sent & received To top it off, the owner, Mr. Chapman, paid a visit to my house, likely not expecting me to be home. He was well aware of the ongoing issues. If you were a reputable, honest business owner, what's the first thing you'd do when meeting a client? Perhaps shake his/her hand, apologize, and state that you'd work to make it right. Oh no no, not this guy. He rolls up wearing baseball cleats, nylon shorts, a white T-shirt with red stains, likely from the Slurpee he was thoroughly enjoying. As I walked onto my deck he couldn't be bothered to make eye contact with me. If I haven't convinced you at this point to avoid this company at all costs, here's one more example. After telling him about my neighbor's patio, he walks towards it, examines it for a few seconds then states, "Well, the stained part actually looks better than the un-stained part." Why yes, it does. Perhaps that's because my neighbor's father recently completed re-building the entire deck and patio by hand and was waiting to select a professional to stain it. If i could give a zero I would!! Don't hire them. Terrible service terrible company to deal with. They damaged our house 4 months ago and still after many promises have not resolved the problem. Horrible experience. We received an initial estimate in April and they still have not completed the work...although they did take the time to charge our credit card for the work. I've contacted them multiple times to complete the work but I always receive the same response. The work they did complete was sloppy. We had a deck power washed, sanded, and painted. The first attempt at painting was sloppy and has left us with spattered paint all over the side of our house and all of the stones we have in the backyard. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! read more

Please read the reviews that have been moved to the "not recommended" category before having work done. We have had our decks washed and sealed by this company for the past decade or so. This spring, while the deck was being washed, a window was broken. The company has yet to return my phone calls, and though they did return an email the day this happened, said that they would only be willing to split the cost of the repair. Given that they broke it, we do not feel that is acceptable. I contacted the Fairfax County Board of Consumer Protection, and Wash My Deck has ignored their letters as well. The quality of their work is good, and the techs that we've had over the years have been nice as well. However, if you run into a problem (see the other reviews) prepare to be ignored. read more
