One associate tells me one thing and then another tells me the exact opposite! I can't believe these people can even read or they would be able to read that a 45 yard dumpster, that had already been dropped off at my home, does allow concrete! Told emphatically not to put concrete in this dumpster after being told 3 times that I was getting the correct dumpster, I spent an additional $1200 to have the concrete hauled away that I could have put in the dumpster already in my driveway!! Now I'm being charged another $109 for going over the one ton that I had already paid for. I am furious! DO NOT use Waste Management, pay what appears to be more for a private service but is actually much less expensive. As an added note: I called to see what they could do about it and was told the "salesperson" would get back to me the next morning. Nope!!! No return call. Waste Management is truly one of the most unprofessional service companies I have dealt with. I have had multiple billing issues with them in the past, and many of my neighbors have experienced missed trash pickups as well. Unfortunately, today was another example of their poor service and complete lack of customer care. This morning, I was outside speaking with a neighbor when a moving truck briefly passed in front of my home. Instead of waiting literally five seconds, the Waste Management driver skipped my trash bin entirely--despite it being completely full and clearly accessible moments later. I immediately called Waste Management and spoke with a representative named Cheryl (spelled S-H-E-R-R-E-L-L). She informed me that they would charge me $15 to come back and collect my trash, stating that it was "not their fault." I explained that all the driver had to do was wait a few seconds and the bin would have been collected without any issue. Her response was that their drivers "don't wait" and that it was my fault due to a moving company briefly being in the way. What was most disappointing was the lack of empathy or accountability. Cheryl made me feel like a completely unimportant customer and showed no interest in resolving the situation fairly. The attitude was dismissive, unapologetic, and indifferent. Waste Management operates like a monopoly, and it shows. If there were real competition in this space, I would switch services immediately. Between the billing problems, missed pickups, and poor customer service, this company consistently falls short. WASTE MANAGEMENT now charges the following for what they used to offer at no additional charge: Payment Details Payment Amount $ 168.30 Convenience Fee $ 9.99 Total $ 178.29 That is EXORBITANT! Waste Management isn't even attempting to gently introduce a new cost to its customers...they are just charging exorbitant rates for what they had offered as part of their services. We have a contract with waste management for our business so it's industrial trash removal for over 15 years. Aside from missed pick ups and all sorts of problems we had with this company( too many to mention here) recently we received a note that said the trash bin was heavy for them and the had to remove some of the trash before picking up! Total nonsense! Our trash hasn't change! Maybe your trash pick up vessels are getting old and not updated or your staff is getting lazy because our trash amount hasn't increased. Also, can someone tell me if they weigh their trash when they dispose something. This is a business for god sakes! That's why we're paying extra for big trash cans . Trying to reach a real person here is like yelling into a black hole. The "customer service" line loops you through endless menus until it just hangs up. Good luck getting an actual human. They also somehow "forget" to send bills for months, then magically remember just in time to slap you with ridiculous late fees. My trash gets picked up every week, but apparently sending a bill more than once every few months is too much work. When you finally do get someone, they act like it's your fault for not paying a bill you never got. Complete scammy behavior for a company that has a monopoly in most areas. Absolutely terrible customer service and billing. They sent me confirmation emails for 6 months telling me my automatic payments were being accepted, only to suspend my trash service without any notice at all. When I called them up to ask WTH was going on, they informed me that my account was 6 months past due, with a tone like I'm some sort of deadbeat. So I immediately pulled out my email history and started quoting them dates, payment amounts, and confirmation numbers to prove my account was current in their system. They then told me that even though they sent me all those confirmation emails and even though my account was on their checking account autopay, those payments weren't actually being made, and there had been a balance accruing. Uhh, whut? Then they wouldn't reestablish my service unless I paid off the whole amount in one huge lump sum. At no point in this process did they accept any shred of responsibility for a malfunctioning auto-payment system, give me any assurances that the problem would not recur, but they were nice enough to waive the late fees - yes they actually said that. I honestly don't understand all these negative reviews regarding Waste Management in SimI Valley. I've lived here since 1988, and I've never had any problems with them. Since mom passed away this year, they've helped me out greatly with payments. They always come by the house, pick up the trash and leave. My experience has been fantastic. They don't leave any mess, and my bins are empty. Now if you want a service requested, you either call or you can go directly to their office, and make an appointment. It's that easy. I'm not speaking for everyone, just myself. Some people are complaining that their bins are crushed. I admit, I think waste management should upgrade their garbage trucks to the latest standard. Or maybe fix the claw so it doesn't squeeze the bins too tight. My advice to some people who say that they find stuff still in their bins after pickup is, don't shove and squeeze everything into the bin. The garbage bins should be a little loose inside. So if it is full, wait until next week or call waste management, and ask them to send another truck for another pick up. Don't put things that are sticky. Sticky stuff will remain inside and could prevent other stuff from coming out when the trucks arrive. The office experience has been great when I visit. However, I do agree, they need to hire more people for customer service. I've only seen one person working the front. More people would bring better service and less complaints. In the end, I've had no problems with them. But if I do, then I'll change my review. read more

The quality of their services is absolutely horrible! I have had to replace my green waste can twice this year because their drivers and trucks crushed and split them. Just two weeks ago, their truck dropped it so hard that the plastic "hinge" on the lid broke. Inconvenient and irresponsible! Then, this morning, my recycling container was on its side, still partially full. It was not overloaded and the lid was fully closed. It was not closer to the mailbox than the other waste cans, because they were emptied with no problem. For the rates we pay, I expect a much higher level of service from WM. read more

Absolutely horrible, my service was missed, I called and they said they were going to pick it up the next business day, well they gave me the run around and they kept closing the ticket and marking it as picked up when they didn't for a full Week a they finally picked it up a week later. Probably your lazy dispatch or lazy drivers keep marking it as finished and picked up making the customer wait a full week, I hope the city terminates the contract and picks a different more reliable provider. read more

After several years of service WM started charging us for Lock services, even though its our lock, they charge $40/month to open and close a door. When I asked about it they said its normal part of service, even though it had never been in the past several years. And $40 to open a lock!!! It's not even a reasonable fee. WM's website used to be functional, now nothing on it seems to work other than the pay bill. Wanted to see how much an extra trash can would be- could not get the info on line. I called- of course they are backed up. They called me back. For me to order another trash can, I have to call their customer service line- which includes waiting some unknown period of time, explain what I'm trying to do, then they have to tie me into another dept somewhere, can't give me the phone number. And then I have to wait an unknown period of time- which I gave up on. When did it get this bad? Their regular pick up service works. I'm not grading that. My recycle trash bin was not picked up last Tues 11/14/23. It was curbside with 4 neighbor bins, but must have been invisible. Mediocre pickup service over the last 11 years. The recycling bin's been left nearly full 3 times in just the last 5 weeks! The inaccurately named "customer support" office provided a video from the truck, showing about five pieces of paper coming out, and says that "material left the bin" is evidence that "the bin was emptied", even though those aren't the same thing. In his defense, he's arguing by implication that because words left his head, his head is empty? We ordered a large bin to dispose of some dead sod, in preparation for a new lawn. The cost was pretty steep, at $400 for a week. The customer service representative told us that we could put up to six tons in the dumpster for that price. We put 4.3 tons in it, and then WM sends us a bill for $93.69 for overage, stating that 3 tons was the limit? Why tell us six tons on the phone and then charge us more later? Next, they didn't call prior to picking up the bin. I tried to call the day before, to tell them we needed it for a couple extra days, but their phone system wouldn't put our call through. Consequently, the driver arrived while I was gone and picked up the bin without notifying us first. I was told to keep a bin longer costs $15 per day. Now to reorder the bin back will cost yet another $400. Then I had the back doors unlatched and my wife's aluminum wheelchair ramp in the back when he picked it up. We used that for loading. It was very obviously not yard waste. The driver either never checked the bin before hauling it off or did and took the wheelchair ramp anyway. I called the dispatcher literally an hour after the pickup and she said she would put a call in to recover and return the ramp. No call and no ramp. I call again the next day and the next customer service representative states that no order was put in to recover that ramp, but that she would do so and give me a call back in 2 days. Seven days later - no call, no $300 folding handicap ramp, a $93.69 bill after the first representative lied to us and we still have sod to haul off. Needless to say, Waste Management locally in the Simi and Moorpark area is a very poorly operated company, with poor customer service, poor communication, and conflicting policies which can cost you, the customer, lots and lots of money and frustration. We learned a very expensive lesson and will never use them again. I highly recommend that you don't use them either... read more

I recently took advantage of the annual Free 2 bulk items pick up twice a year. I called in, made arrangements and our old couch and love seat were picked up on our regular trash pick up day as scheduled. I have ordered the small and large 40 yard bins on several occasions and never had any problems. I guess I'm the lucky one! When our Recycle Bin was stolen, I called WM and they sent us a new bin on our trash pick up day. It seems recycle bins are stolen often from what I was told. WM is good by me! read more

I rented a temporary dumpster and had it brought to my house. Went to do what I thought was a simple task of having it removed because it was full. Went to my online account and it didn't show that I even had it. Went on and chatted with their representatives and after 15 minutes finally got somebody to answer the chat. After a myriad of questions which had nothing to do with anything, only to have them say "oh we can't help you with a dumpster removal you actually have to call the 800 number". I know lots or people don't like this business, and maybe they are right to not like them. I don't know. All I can do is post my experience with them that just happened yesterday and finished today. Waste Management are the people that pick up my trash, at my residence, every week. I have three trash bins from them; the black one for recycling, the green one for yard trimmings and the blue one for random trash. Yesterday I phoned them to tell them that two of the bins had cracks in them, after many years of use, that is probably due to the colder than usual weather we've had recently. I was kind of expecting bad service when I phoned them to get the bins replaced. Instead the lady that answered helped me very politely and efficiently. She said to leave my bins out after my next trash pick up which she noted was the next day. I did leave them out and all three were replaced by end of day the next day. Liars! All of them are incompetent and just liars. I called to have extra bags picked up. I was told I can leave 6 bags curbside. Day of pick up- the guy leaves the bags behind. I call them again. They said we will have someone pick them up that day. Leave them outside. Still no pickup at 10pm. I haul them back into the back yard. Call on Saturday again- same story. Put them out in curb, but no one came to pick them up. Called on Monday and they told me they will pick them up at next weekly trash day. Guess what- trash day comes and they f'ing leave the bags behind AGAIN!! Finally in week 3 they managed to get their heads out of their asses and picked them up. Fast forward one month, I had extra trash to be picked up. I called again- got a quote for extra bags. This time I left them right in front of the trash. The guy moved the bags, picked up the bin and left. WTF. So I call back again the following Monday. They tell me they will call me back after they talk to 'dispatch'. No call back. Called again and spoke to supervisor- was told they would pick them up by tomorrow COB. So we shall see... damn liars and untrained staff. read more

The green can truck refused to pick up because he claimed it was overweight. He tried to demonstrate how the can would not lift, but it did, then he stopped it before it tipped over.
