I had a ton of household items - broken furniture, some boxes, broken containers, etc. - too much for the local trash pickup. I took a trailer full to the Waste Management Okaloosa County Transfer Station. It was fairly easy. You drive the vehicle on to a scale. Pick up a safety vest. They tell you where to go to drop your stuff. Then you weigh your vehicle again on the way out. Easy enough. Be prepared, though, this place is no joke! It's an industrial area. I had a F-250 and was almost swallowed by the holes in the ground. It's wet, muddy, uneven. Wear the proper clothing. You pay by the pound. I had half a 16'x8' trailer and it was just shy of $12.

That's substantially less than the 50 cents a pound that the intartoobs tell me a pound of cans is worth. But hey, sometimes you don't have the time to find a recycling center or have the motivation to lug dripping bags of cans around. Plus, those machines cost $30,000-$35,000, so that money has to come from somewhere. Think of it as an eco-friendly slot machine where the payoff is low monetarily, but high in smugness.

The security system had been non functional for over a month allowing thieves to easily steal our belongings. The facility had previous theft on exterior units yet ignored the security breakdown. Many attempts were made to recover our items or funds to replace them. Storage King refuses to make this right. I am stuck here without parts or funds for my home/boat. A single quarter starts the dryer. No detergent vending machine, but you can buy a baggie for one load from the proprietor for 50 cents. Drop off your duds and they will launder them for 75 cents per pound, 10 pound minimum. You can also have alterations done, get patches sewn on, or get your stuff dry cleaned, pressed, and starched here. Not necessarily in that order. I didn't see any prices for any of those posted, so ask before you act.
