I don't know if the guy who was the only person there every time I have gone in is the owner but he provides the beat customer service ever! I went there recently to get a battery for a watch that I hadn't worn in awhile. I was in a hurry and he really did a great job of estimating the time it would take to install it, even though he had a person ahead of me that needed work on two watches. I was in and out in less than ten minutes. A few days later I noticed the crystal had a slight fogginess and I brought it back in for him to look at it thinking that moisture was collecting on the inside of the crystal. He quickly fixed the problem and didn't even charge me! He said it wasn't water but a kind of oily residue which I imagine must have been like that before. My girl's watch needed a new battery. It was a Sunday, so most jewelers are closed. We were out and about anyway, so I figured I would use the old smart phone to find someone close to where we were who could replace the battery. I found Watchcare. We stopped in and the guy behind the counter took a quick look at the watch and said' "Give me a couple of minutes." He took the watch back to his work area and within about three minutes he came back with the new battery installed. The total was less than $10. Happy? You bet! Will we return? I needed a battery replaced in a Freestyle watch and was recommended here. $10 and 10 minutes later the battery was new and the date and time were both set as well. I could see there was a row of watches that needed something done but as a simple in-store battery replacement customer I jumped the line. read more

I bought a watch second hand on ebay and needed to replace the leather band. The guy running the store, was really nice, speedy, and communicative. There were about 5 other people that he also helped while I was there and it didn't slow down what he was doing, or change up the order in he got back to helping me. This place has provided the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Came in on may 3rd with an old Seiko watch to have the band fixed and crystal face replaced. Was quoted 1 week for the work. They called 2 days later on the 5th to tell me the watch was completed. Went in to pick up my watch and discovered that they haven't even touched it (took him 10 minutes to even find the watch). The person didn't apologize at all for the mistake. Instead he just told me he'd call me back when it was finished. Nearly 2 weeks have passed and still have yet to receive a call from them. Finally called and the guy took another 5-10 minutes to locate the watch then said he had to order the face from some other company because it was discontinued. Never offered an apology for not calling me with an update, or for the earlier mistake of telling me it was finished, or for the delay. New wait time is 3-4 more weeks. I understand the crystal being discontinued is not their fault. However they have shown no initiative to inform me of any setbacks nor any apologies for their mistake. Truly frustrating and quite disheartening based on the other reviews here. Curious to see if I'll ever hear back from them. (Edit): The guy i talked to called me back this morning after reading my review to apologize and explain. However, I didn't want an explanation for why they didn't call or why he seemed to not be attentive to my concerns on the phone yesterday. All i cared about was what were they going to do to make it right. I expressed as much and told him to just repair the watch when the crystal came in and give me a call. Instead he continued to try to provide explanations and excuses. When I interrupted him to say I had to get back to work and I was hanging up he instead cut me off and said he was cancelling the order for the crystal and would not finish the work promised on my watch. I went to pick it up and the lady that worked there continued the apologies and they comped the charge for the band repair (would have only been 10 dollars). Unfortunately not enough to redeem the poor customer experience I received and I am left still with a broken watch despite wanting him to finish the repair over the phone. read more

I've been here a few times, and each experience is excellent. The place is easy to find and comfortable inside. Michael, the technician, is extremely knowledgable, informative, and friendly. The prices are excellent -- while I was there, he performed consultations and services for two other customers free of charge. Knowing that as usual, I'd struggle with setting my square Armitron wristwatch one hour ahead...on Sunday, March 10th when PST standard time began... I popped into Campbell Watchcare a few days ahead, asking Mitch to do it for me (deftly, in seconds.) Then all I had to do to until Sunday the10th was remember my watch was already one hour ahead a few days early.. Thank you, Mitch. At another place they wanted $120 to "fix" my watch (which only stopped working AFTER they replaced the battery). At this place, he lubricated it for free and sent me on my way! Battery repair on my favorite watch. Quick, reasonable, polite.

I had recently cultivated a hobbyist's curiosity in time pieces and horology, and in the process ordered my first ever Seiko watch. The only issue I had with it was that the stainless steel band was not the right fit. I initially inquired into a DIY job but concluded that it simply made more sense to take my automatic time piece to a mechanical expert. "Watchcare" ranked highly in the local Yelp milieu, and so after some careful trawling, I selected their service. It turned out to be a good fit. The expert was knowledgeable and eager to help, and his assistant was friendly and professional. I was politely greeted as I opened the door, and then tended to so promptly that it hadn't even closed shut before I was already being helped. I paid a small fee to have my stainless steel Seiko band re-sized (no appointment necessary) and their pro got the fit right on his first try. The entire process took only a few minutes, after which we discussed tips, movements, history, and maintenance. TL;DR - Watchcare is efficient, affordable, friendly, and meticulous. My stainless steel watch adjustment was made quickly, adroitly, and inexpensively! All of my questions were answered. Good times; everything meshed. read more

Unprofessional and horrible service. My automatic Seiko needed a new battery. They said it would have to be shipped to their other store across town and the special battery would cost more than a normal one. Told them NOT to ship. Call me with the estimate for the replacement battery and labor FIRST. They called two days later with a high cost and I said again Do NOT ship, I will be down to pick it up. I show up and they can't find my watch. They lost it. Told them I'd be back next week to give them time to find it. Get a phone message that they found my watch. Show up and no watch. They can't find the description of it or my full name because he never took it down initially. Employees starting pointing the finger at each other and playing the blame game while searching the store. Unorganized filing system, poor records keeping, very unprofessional. When my watch was finally located- They had shipped it without my authorization, done the work and installed the new battery without my authorization, then laughingly acted like they did me a favor since they weren't going to charge me for the shipping, labor, or battery. Got home and it still didn't work. If I could leave less than 1 star I would. read more

Older male employee was exchanging laughs with someone on the telephone, then immediately returned to his work area, without saying a word to me. Hey, ignoring walk-in customers as a matter of business practice is a GREAT way to generate revenue ! This can mean only one of two things: 1) you're actually an undercover rocket scientist working on advanced telemetry and, 2) I need to call the Vatican to get an audience with you. But guess what ? I have been coming to this location of Watchcare for years as it is close to my house. The people there have always been very helpful. I usually go there to have a new battery installed in one of my watches, but have had new watchbands installed as well. Each service performed was done with me waiting and it was not long. They usually run a coupon in the SJ Mercury News to install a new battery for $8.95. They also have a online coupon card good for 5 battery changes for $34.95 (this is a pretty good value, and don't we all have more than a couple of watches?). I'm taking one star off as they charged extra for battery replacement of "highline watches". My Raymond Weil worth about $600 is highline? This is one of my pet peeve's just like smog shops charging extra to smog my SUV. While serving four other customers who were coming and going, he finished my job in 17 minutes. Told me to keep my receipt, as a one-year warranty on the bands. I'm completely satisfied. I took a watch in to have the battery replaced. The owner quickly determined that the problem was that the hands were loose. He said he could fix the problem while I waited. Since the battery was 2years old I asked him to replace the battery anyway. Despite my instructions, he tested the battery anyway. He told it was at full strength and would last at least another year. He fixed the hands in about 5 minutes and charged me $20.00. He guaranteed the repair for 1 year. He would have been perfectly justified in changing the battery and charging me for it, but was honest and thorough enough to determine exactly what was needed and only charge me for that. Anyone who knows what he's doing and is honest enough to turn down income that isn't honestly earned gets my business any time! read more

My family has been going to the Watchcare store on Bascom since it opened. I recently brought a watch in that was too large for me. The very nice and professional staff person altered the links and it fits perfectly now...and at no charge! Our other watch repairs and battery changes were handled with equal friendliness and care. 5 stars for sure! read more

This is a great store. I have been in on a couple of occasions over the years when my watchband broke and the gentleman fixed it in minutes for free! I have been taking my watches here for years and I absolutely love this place. It is definitely old school, however, they are really nice people and willing to try to fix anything. I mainly have Michael Kors watches, so my experience is with that level of watch. I have been here for regular maintenance, repairs and even a broken ceramic watch. They are extremely reasonably priced which is also a great benefit. I definitely recommend Watchcare. read more
