It is not a fancy clock, but its face shows the area in Maine where she was born, and it is a cherished item that reminds her where she is from. Mr. Yoshinaga repaired the clock within just a few minutes. More importantly, he treated her with such respect and kindness. As she is an elderly person with memory problems, that is unfortunately not always the case; many people become frustrated and are short with her. But Mr. Yoshinaga's kindness and friendliness made her day. She showed it off to all of her friends at the facility, and we rehung her clock at the end of a fun day out. Totally ruined my Rolex watch. Took them a month to fix it for being too slow. Got it back and the hands fell off inside. Turned out they are not certified to repair Rolex. It was $1000 with no refund. Took it to a friend of my parents and they got it "repaired" but it still pauses and slows. I guess I've gotta send it straight to Rolex. read more

This business ruined my Rolex watch, did not refund the fees and were not competent to fix it. They charged $1500 to replace a broken crystal. When I got it back, it was still damaged and the watch did not work. I called them and learned that they were not certified to repair a Rolex. This is not what I was told when I dropped it off. Invited me to come in so they could try to repair it again. I told them that I wanted a certified Rolex repair shop to do it. They agreed to give me a partial refund. I took it to JLICHT and sons at Westfield mall, and they recommended to send it to Rolex. I did that, and Rolex discovered that there was still glass inside the mechanism, There was damaged face and arms bars and other damage. I had to pay another $1500 for Rolex to make it right. It came back perfect, polished, and perfectly repaired. I went back to the village watchmaker and requested my refund, and he refused to give me anything back. They were rude and belligerent. These guys are dishonest, they are not skilled, and they don't care about customers. I would never go back to the village watchmaker. They were not even less expensive, they were more. I would never take any watch here. There are better options out there. read more

I brought in an old clock to see if they could get it working again. They took it apart, cleaned it and now it runs perfectly. They also showed me how to make minor adjustments if it runs fast or slow, and gave me a new key since mine had gotten lost. Later I tried to replace the crystal - brought one in that I had found online, and he attempted to to insert it but it didn't quite fit. No charge for that service. They are always super kind and polite, and keep me informed of the status of the repairs by phone. I would highly recommend Village Watchmaker for clock repairs. read more

In normal circumstances I would leave The Village Watchmaker a 5 star review for their convenience, efficiency, customer service, and value. In the middle of a pandemic I'm leaving a 5 star review for all of the above in addition to appropriate and sensible COVID precautions while not letting customer service slip. As stated on the website, I emailed for an appointment to drop off my broken 30-year old kitchen clock on a Saturday afternoon. I received a reply in a couple hours and made an appointment for drop off. Sean looked at my clock and gave me a reasonable quote and an estimated date of completion. Both were within range of what I would expect without being in the middle of a pandemic. When the clock was ready, I called to make an appointment to pick up and pay, but Sean was gracious enough to offer delivery since he was driving out my way the next day. The clock needed a whole new mechanism and I'm happy to have it back. Even in these days of having our clocks on our phones, I found myself missing my kitchen clock until it was back and I'm glad it's ready to tell time for another 30 years. read more

We arrived on the day of our appt. He meets you right by front door, (cannot go inside for time being) friendly, added a link to my watch 3 minutes, then I forgot it needed a battery, took another 3 minutes. Folks are right, this isn't a discount mall shop where you take your 7-11 watch to get repaired - it's a bit more refined. This boy man is a thief and a piece of work I left him with my mothers antique watch two and a half years ago. A very special gift from my mother, the band is white gold link set with diamonds. I went to Sheppards in Los Gatos to have four extra custom links made to fit my wrist. Custom made white gold links with diamonds. I was ecstatic. Sheppards did an amazing job. He referred me to this antique watch shop to have the broken crystal replaced and the face cleaned. I went When I picked it up it looked beautiful, I was very happy. Not the original crystal but I thought it was close enough. I had a family event in the next week I wanted to show it off. I wore it that day. That evening I was sitting in the living room in front of the fire and looked down (I was constantly looking down at it) and there was pieces on the carpet. The crystal was gone, the back of the watch was gone, only the band and clock face were still on my wrist . I found the pieces, gathered them and called him. It was several weeks before I got in to bring the pieces back. He said he'd fix it. I've called repeatedly the last two and a half years. The times he's actually bothered to pick up the phone he told me he was still looking. Never returned all of my frantic calls after. Well I finally picked it up 2 1/2 years later. 450$ for the initial work. I told him this was absurd to take this long and not contact me or return my calls. . He screamed at me that I broke the watch and what was he supposed to do, follow me home and put it away for me? 2 and 1/2 years I put something very precious to me in his hands. Clearly he never had any intention of fixing it. Honestly, I think he was hoping I'd never pick it up because that's how valuable it is monetarily, I'm assuming somewhere between 5 and 7k. To me, it's priceless. And he's a serious con artist, creep and insanely rude. You couldn't have returned my calls? Passed me on to someone who could fix my already 'fixed' watch? If there's something goofy going on with your watch, come here. This store is a slice of the good old days when problems were solved by actual, talented people on the spot. Or, just stop in and look around. It's a small place with, well, watches in it. I dropped off my TAG to have the clasp removed. When Sean called to order the part, they told him he had to send the watch in for service ($200) and they would inspect the watch and make repairs(+ $?). He fixed it in a few days himself for $40 using his own stuff and it's working perfectly. A couple years ago I took the watch to Macy's (where I bought it) for a battery change - I didn't see the watch for over two months! He's keeps short hours, so you should call and make sure you'll catch him, but it's well worth it. read more

This is an awesome place if you have a unique/difficult problem with your watch. However, if you just need a battery -- this is the most expensive place in Santa Clara County. It's a minimum of $20/battery. Even on a watch that isn't worth $20. I was shocked! If you have infinite resources and a super expensive watch with a problem-- this is the place for you -- nice owner, great little store, great location, fast service-- but priciest I've seen. You can go to Westgate and get a battery replaced for under $10, this place is over 2x that price. read more

I have a Fossil watch that was missing a pin in the band. I walked into the shop shortly after opening and was greeted immediately. Sean took my watch and replaced the pin while I waited. First, I went to his store at 1pm. A sign said he would not be back until 3pm. Huh? Who leaves their store in the middle of the day for an hour? So I waited. When I finally saw him, he said he could not resize a Rado watch band. Huh? He's a watchmaker...he told me to go to a Rado dealer. instead I went to a watch repair place and they did the band in 15 minutes...so how is this guy a specialist in watches, has a nice store in a high end location but can't do what a low end watch repair place can do? I think that The Village Watchmaker is an accomplished artisan. However; he did not do a good job with my vintage Rolex. When he returned it after "Cleaning" it, the manual stem clicked (an eventually failed to lock) and the watch kept no better time that it had when I brought it in.
