Amazing service and an introverts dream I've had about 15 massages here. Only 1 massage therapist spoke more than 2 words to me. All of them simply do a light rub down and then immediately pin point my troubleshoots and get to work fixing them. I've had knots in my upper back, a pinched nerve in my glute, and a variety of aliments. They are able to figure out exactly the problem just by touch. It's amazing! And I don't have to deal with small talk when I'm there to try to get fixed up and am in a bad mood. But I always leave in a great mood! I also love how they have the tip suggestions posted based on time which makes it very easy to calculate especially since they are great at giving lots of good deals so it can be confusing calculating. One of my favorite things is that they accommodate last minute appointments. I find it very hard to schedule anything in advance. I consider this place an important need for my health, and am happy to be able to afford to come here and tip well without braking the bank. They have great prices and give deals if you purchase a package. Some parts are not the most fancy....but I'd much rather have massages that I can afford on a regular basis than go somewhere more pristine and only be able to go 1-2 times a year. TRIGGER WARNING: SA My boyfriend specifically requested a female massage therapist for me when booking due to prior trauma. I was surprised when I was assigned a male therapist while my boyfriend was assigned a female therapist. I did not realize this until after they started massaging us. During the massage, the therapist began massaging and touching my glute area without my consent, which made me extremely uncomfortable. It was difficult for me to speak up in the moment, but I eventually worked up the courage to ask whether we could switch therapists. When I raised my concerns, I did not feel that they were taken seriously. They laughed and said "ok" which made me feel dismissed. I left feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable, and I also did not receive any apology for the distress the experience caused me. What was particularly confusing to me was that my boyfriend did not receive any glute massage during his session, so our experiences differed despite being there together. This experience was deeply upsetting for me and brought back memories of prior trauma. While I cannot speak to anyone else's intentions, I can speak to the impact the experience had on me. What should've been a celebration for a special occasion left me feeling distressed, violated, and shaken by what happened. This review reflects my honest recollection of the experience and the impact it had on me, and I stand by it. I am sharing it because customer comfort, boundaries, and therapist preferences matter. I hope future customers who make similar requests have those requests respected and that concerns raised during a session are met with compassion and understanding instead of what I experienced. There is a parking lot behind this building designated for Water Lounge Spa patrons, which I greatly appreciated. I purchased a 30 minute hot tub session with 60 minute custom facial and 60 minute massage with essential oil and hot stones, and the total came out to $150. The hot tub was really nice and it comes with a shower that doubles as a sauna. I was a little skeptical of using the shampoo and conditioner that the shower comes with, but I did rinse off using the body wash that they provide prior to my massage out of respect for my masseuse. The massage was so comfortable, I nearly fell asleep. During my period in between the massage and facial, they took me to a couch where I was given water and crackers. The experience is heavenly, my facial included steaming, extractions, and a soothing herbal mask. I found my experience wholly worth it. read more

We booked a one-hour hydrotherapy session for two on Valentine's Day, selected Alice and Angela when reserving and paying online cuz it was required to select a staff member per person, but it was totally unnecessary, as the hot tubs are in individual rooms with a door we were able to lock to maintain privacy, and we encountered minimal staff interaction at arrival, just someone leading us to our hot tub room. The lobby was beautiful, with high ceilings and stylish furnishings in the lounge/waiting area. The hot tub room was simple but sufficient. It was spacious and consisted of one bench/seat, a few hooks for hanging garments, the hot tub with strong jets for the back and legs, and a shower/steam room combo (not as hot in there as an actual sauna, but again, it was sufficient for our needs). Liquid soap, shampoo, and conditioner were available on the shower wall, and the restrooms on site provided hairdryers to use and individually wrapped disposable combs. We had a relaxing and rejuvenating experience, and would definitey recommend this spot for hydrotherapy. They also have a dedicated parking lot in the back for convenience (entrance on El Camino Real). read more

I used my unused Classpass credits and thought this place is reasonably priced. The spa reminded me of Asia. There are 2-3 private hot tub/jacuzzi rooms with showers downstairs. Overall cleanliness is decent and acceptable. I appreciated that there were plenty of massage rooms. If you want add ons like aromatherapy massage oils or hot stones, it's only $9 which is relatively cheap. Massage was decent. read more

We appreciated the onsite parking as street parking is horrendous around there. We felt welcome throughout our stay, even though majority of the workers speak Chinese and only minimal English (we didn't mind). Our massages were heavenly. Soo much pressure and so relaxing. We had a man and woman but we did not catch their names. Just fyi you don't get much guidance, so I'm glad I had been to a massage before as I could explain the process to my husband. I was glad they had larger size robes available - always a source of worry for me. The facial was also great. Be aware they do extractions without asking. I do hope they sterilize their equipment. I did appreciate seeing the aestheticians certificates displayed. Others commenting on tips should know is expected to tip with massages - based on the typical service price, not the Groupon price. While it's not the most high-end location, the space is cozy, clean, & creates a genuinely relaxing ambiance. The private spa was such a peaceful moment to unwind, & the shower area was spotless with quality products provided. Alice gave me one of the best deep tissue massages I've ever had--no wonder she's in high demand. I walked out feeling completely refreshed. This is the second time I bought the Groupon for hour massage and hour facial. First of all, there is parking! My appointment was at 11:00 and after using the restroom, I waited in the waiting area for only a couple of minutes. I did do the $9 add on for hot stones essential oil. Gary was my masseuse. Got here for an afternoon of me time. Started off with an hour of hot tub, followed by an hour of massage and 30 min of body scrub. I also tried the head treatment. The hot tub room is private with a good size of tub and a private shower area. It is pretty clean but the chlorine smell is a bit strong. The complimentary body wash is better than their Millbrae facility. Scrub and massage is in another room, which comes with a big shower area. Massage was okay. Scrub was nice with very fine salt. It was overall okay. They prep the shower for me here which is nice. Head treatment is in another room. I find the treatment to be okay and I likely won't get it again. The head treatment came with heavy head massage. At first, the lady used a small device (those cheap head massage tool) which didn't do anything for me. I asked for changing back to real massage which was a little better. The washing band (with arch) was comfortable. I passed out a bit. I likely won't get it from here again on the head treatment. Overall, value wise, it is pretty good here. But similar issues with the other facility. They accept walk ins. It is good on flexibility. But it is difficult to manage. When I was in the tub, they were supposed to knock 15 min before the end of the session. The notice should happen only once. But my door got knocked many times starting from 30 min mark. It turned out that they thought my session should have ended it earlier or they thought I was someone else? Similar things happened at the sauna room in Millbrae location. So yeah, you somewhat got what you paid for. I would recommend bring your own slippers here. Much easier. This is a better facility than Millbrae but it doesn't have the sauna over here. read more

Wish I had the option to give ZERO stars! The front desk lady was extremely rude, and this place is filthy. I made an appointment for 4 people, but one friend unfortunately couldn't make it last minute, so I called to update them. The front desk lady told me to "call back later" and then hung up on me. After driving an hour and arriving only 3 minutes late, she rushed us through check-in and got upset that the 4th person wasn't there. We were also charged an extra $9 for hot stones and essential oils, which would've been fine, except the masseuse never even used either of them. To make things worse, they separated our group of 3 and placed my friend in a steam room with no music near the front area, so all you could hear was traffic and people constantly coming in and out. Our first experience here was great and everyone was nice, but this second visit was horrible. I'm not sure what the front desk lady's problem was with us, but we will never be coming back again. read more

Horrible Experience -- Developed a Nasty Fungal Infection From Unsanitary Conditions After Spa Visit I'm writing this to warn others after an absolutely awful experience at Waterlounge Spa in San Mateo. I visited in June 2025 for what was supposed to be a relaxing hot tub session, but instead left with a severe fungal infection that has lasted over four months and caused me daily discomfort, lost sleep, and anxiety. The infection started just a few days after my visit with intense itching, burning, and redness on the bottom of my feet. I had never had these symptoms before, and I immediately realized something was wrong. After researching and later confirming that it was athlete's foot, it became clear that I contracted it from their unsanitary facilities. It's now been over four months, and I'm STILL dealing with this infection. Despite using multiple antifungal creams, cleaning my home and shoes constantly, and taking every precaution, it keeps returning. It's caused me countless sleepless nights from the burning and itching, and has spread my toenails WTF . I've spent so much time, energy, and money trying to get rid of this fungal infection that came from the steam shower.... where fungus and spores thrive in the warm, moist, and poorly sanitized environments.... how disgusting now that I think about it. If Waterlounge Spa truly followed proper cleaning and disinfection practices, I would not be dealing with this painful infection months later. Athlete's foot fungus thrives in warm, moist, unclean environments -- exactly the kind of conditions I experienced there. Their so-called "cleaning" procedures are clearly nonexistent or completely inadequate. What's even worse is how the owner handled my complaint. Instead of showing concern, apologizing, or investigating, Zuyi was rude, dismissive, and defensive, insisting that it wasn't possible. Then sent me texts about how to treat it.. which I had already been doing for months. She clearly didn't care about the serious health impact this caused. Her lack of professionalism is obvious in her Yelp responses. This has been one of the most frustrating experiences of my life -- months of applying antifungal creams, disinfecting my home, throwing out shoes, socks, bath mats, and feeling isolated because I don't want to infect anyone else. Not to mention the money I spent on creams, disinfectants, antifungal powder, socks and doctors appointments. If a business operates in an environment that promotes fungal or bacterial growth, they have an obligation to disinfect thoroughly between every customer -- not just claim that they do. Based on my experience, Waterlounge Spa's hygiene practices are virtually nonexistent, and I wouldn't be surprised if others have been infected too but never realized where it came from. If I could go back in time, I would never have stepped foot in this spa and I strongly urge anyone considering this place to think twice. If you care about your health, safety, and peace of mind, avoid this spa at all costs. read more

I went in for a full body massage and had a very concerning experience. During the massage, the therapist placed her fingers under the base of my skull, near the back of my head, and pulled upward. I immediately felt and heard a pop, followed by a strange sensation like cold water rushing down my ear (though there was no actual water). Two days later, I developed severe symptoms: * Intense headaches * Pain running down my entire spine * Popping in my ear * Numbness in my left arm This has been incredibly alarming and uncomfortable. What was supposed to be a relaxing massage turned into something that has left me in pain and worried about possible injury. Please be very cautious -- I strongly advise against coming here for massage services. I just want to say, this girl has amazing work of hands! I'm a little sensitive/tender but I know if anyone else is in need of a good massage- she's your girl. This was my first time getting a head care treatment and I loved that Linda was so friendly and walked me through everything she was doing. They also had these amazing eye masks that seemed like they had some weight and heat to them. Tubs are hit or miss. And FYI: Doors don't lock! It felt very unsafe. Massage is average or below. Prices seem ok. Stressful service that will up-charge very quickly. The last time we went the hot tub was foaming with soap (photo). And then the water started to drain and the jets started spraying like crazy! Like terrifyingly. Got moved to another tub with no jets. By that time we had no energy to complaint so we just waited until the time was up. If you're coming here for the hot water experience I would say: don't bother. We also got the deep tissue massage and I was very disappointed by it. Little to no pressure - despite paying "extra" for "deep tissue". It's really a service mill so they want you out as soon as possible. And you can feel it! I found this spa on ClassPass and decided to check it out! I went for a European facial on a Sunday afternoon. The front desk person was busy checking in 3 people ahead of me, so my facial started a little late. The spa is spacious with multiple rooms for other services such as hair scalp treatments and massages. It is not a spa with a minimalist interior design. My esthetician came out quickly and took me to my room. She was kind and ensured that I was comfortable the whole time. She didn't explain each step or product, but answered all of my questions. Is the clock inaccurate now or does your clock run faster? How you should have handled this situation is " I am sorry you didn't have the right experience today. Here's a voucher or discount you can use for your next spa visit" and this could have saved the situation. And I would have not left the review and maybe will come back and give you another chance. My dear sister treated this surprise facial treatment before the dinner, even I was shy to take the offer and still felt lucky that I did. And it is very quiet here, there are two stories and the store manager lead me to my room. And she introduced me to the facial specialist- Stella, who is knowledgeable and nice. And her beautiful face convinced me that I will be in good hands. I got the basic facial treatment, she cleaned my face pores, and massaged around my head and shoulders..... I think I was too comfortable to remember the rest. ...... After about one hour, Stella woke me up with her sweet voice and asked me if I would like to have moisturizer and sunblock. She did what chose and passed a mirror to me. Wow..... niceeee.... My face looks alive and brighter.... Even better than the makeup I had before this. I'm pretty bummed about my experience here. I am a very frequent member at water lounge Millbrae however today I was in San Mateo and I wanted to pop in and get a 1 hour foot massage. Unfortunatly they do not do foot massages here at this location ?? Only Millbrae? That's kinda odd considering that's not on their website where it says what's at San Mateo and what's at Millbrae. I think their website needs some updating. I was really disappointed and I didn't find the girl to be to friendly. Also when you walk in it smells very strong of chlorine which I didn't love read more
