The woman who checked us in at 3pm said they were waiting on the linen service to change the sheets and remove the old / dirty ones. But, they let us in the unit at 3pm. At 7:30, I called because the dirty linens were still on the beds (I have pictures). No one was able to come handle the service. So, I got the extreme pleasure of 1) handle strangers dirty linens and put them into garbage bags (7 beds!!). 2) travel to the rental office and pick up the clean linens, 3) make all seven beds by myself. That when I PAID for a service to have that done. This isn't our first rodeo. We travel all the time and we are great guests. I understand that mistakes happen. All the customer service representatives were lovely and very apologetic. They just had no power to improve the outcome. It's the management team who doesn't care about the customer experience. After several phone calls, no one from management called to follow up or offer to make it better. I had to touch a strangers' dirty laundry!!! GROSS!!!

We've had to call housekeeping back multiple times because the initial cleaning was not done well. This past year, there was hair on the toilet paper holder, visible dust in several areas, and the indoor glass tables looked like they were wiped with harsh cleaners, leaving them streaky and cloudy. In the past, if something wasn't right, we could call and it would be taken care of quickly and professionally. This year felt very different. The hot tub was broken, and instead of a straightforward apology or resolution, the issue seemed to be brushed off. We also had random sheets placed in our elevator that we didn't request, which added to the confusion. What was most disappointing was that when my mom left a review on their site, parts of it were altered and the negative feedback was removed--even though she still gave a generous 4-star rating. As long-time renters, it's frustrating to see the quality and customer service go downhill like this. We've made many great memories over the years, but we hope to see improvements moving forward.

It didn't take us long at all to notice food and crumbs all over the floor and furniture. It only got worse as we unpacked to settle in and get ready for our beach vacation. It looked as if the room hadn't been cleaned for a while. Dirty linens on every bed had to be washed. There were broken fixtures, which included lights that didn't work, shower heads, and towel racks falling off the wall. The bath had to be scrubbed to remove all the filth that was left in it due to lack of cleaning. Doors to rooms wouldn't stay shut, which was interesting with 2 small children with us who wanted to walk into every room at the most inappropriate times. There was mold build‑up on trim and wall decor. Previous renters' mouth retainers were on the floor. A gigantic hairball was on the furniture, and sinks were clogged from hair buildup. There were layers upon layers of dust on fans, and a broken television in the master bedroom. During our stay, the keyless door lock to our room decided to run out of battery power. My Girlfirend and I waited 4 hours in the room waiting for someone to come change it. Don't expect common household kitchenware--the lack of basic necessities you would expect from renting a beach condo was not there. We were there 5 days and called every day about a new issue or just to inform them of the filth. They offered us a "reclean" 3 days in. It wasn't cleaned to begin with, and we had already cleaned just to try to feel comfortable. When we checked out and talked to the manager about our issues, he offered to refund the cleaning fee, saying that he couldn't credit us anymore unless the A/C or hot water was out. But Elliot Reality was perfectly fine with us laying and living in filth after we paid them over $3k for a 5‑day stay. It is a disgusting place, and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND doing good research and finding a more accommodating rental in this area. Elliot Reality is not your top choice--please trust me.

Even though I completed all of the online pre-registration beforehand, I had to repeat the entire process at the front desk because they couldn't find any record of it. The line was long, instructions were minimal, and parking was confusing. Both towers park in the Indigo garage, and you have to use the third-floor walkway to get to the other tower--information that wasn't clearly explained. The room itself was the biggest disappointment. The layout is incredibly long and narrow and honestly just... odd. The master bedroom shares a wall with the public hallway, and because we were close to the elevator, we heard people talking at all hours. It felt more like sleeping in a hallway than a bedroom. The furnishings are badly overdue for an update. The furniture feels worn out, the closet door came off its track when opened, the master sink barely drained, the safe battery was dead (maintenance had to replace it), and the sheets felt like sandpaper. There were no USB charging ports or convenient outlets like you find in just about every hotel these days. The "kitchen" is really just a mini fridge (without a freezer), microwave, sink, toaster, coffee maker, and blender. Then the layout gets even stranger. The living room has a sofa bed, but there were no pillows and only one set of sheets stored in the master closet. Meanwhile, the second bathroom connected to the living room is enormous--with dual vanities, a huge shower, and a Jacuzzi tub--while the master bathroom is the size of a basic Holiday Inn bathroom. The whole setup feels backwards. The ocean and pool view was beautiful, but the room itself felt like a design that never figured out what it wanted to be. One of my biggest frustrations was the housekeeping policy. We were charged a daily housekeeping fee (nearly $30 per day), yet the paperwork says they don't actually provide housekeeping. The first two days no one even came until I called. When they finally did, they simply emptied the trash and left a couple of clean towels on the counter. Charging a daily housekeeping fee without providing daily housekeeping feels misleading. To top it off, the only proactive phone call we received during our stay wasn't to see if everything was okay--it was someone trying to sell us a "timeshare". There are also no ice machines in the tower and no front desk staff nearby if you need assistance, so every issue requires contacting the separate check-in building. For the price we paid (roughly $500+ per night after resort fees, housekeeping fees, marketing fees, and taxes), I expected a much more polished experience. Instead, it felt dated, confusing, and overpriced. The ocean view was lovely, but unfortunately that wasn't enough to make up for everything else. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it.

They use automated locks, so there was no key to keep up with. The best part was the lock code was the last four digits of our phone number, so it was easy to remember. We visit Myrtle Beach every year. We will definitely be using Southern Hideaways again.

This resort is described as a…read morepremier (3-star) oceanfront timeshare resort featuring 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom suites in four towers with full kitchens, lots of pantry space, balconies, and within-unit washers and dryers. Resort amenities are abundant and include direct beach access, indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, (small) lazy rivers, a fitness center, an arcade, and a fire pit. We made a relatively late reservation here for five nights when we learned that international guests would be visiting. There would be seven guests (all adults) for two nights, and only four of us for the other three nights. We used extra timeshare points (making it more expensive) in order to get a unit on an upper floor, hoping that the upper floor would give us the best ocean view. Unit. (3/5). Our unit in Tower 2 was spacious (especially when there were only 4 of us), and had everything that we needed and was clean. We especially appreciated the fully-stocked full kitchen with generous pantry space, having a washer and dryer in the unit, and the jacuzzi in the main bedroom (which we under-utilized!). The beds were comfortable, and had high quality linens. However, we were somewhat disappointed with the unit as our ocean view was limited (although you could see the ocean, beach, and one of the pools from our balcony). And, as the resort was built in 2002, and last renovated in 2011, it's now beginning to show its age -- with sofas and chairs that were no longer firm, some chips on furniture, and the musty smell that comes with high humidity. Amenities and Activities. (3.5/4). Tower 2 was convenient, and had many amenities that we utilized. It was home to the Lobby and Registration, had direct beach access, a lazy river, access to indoor and outdoor pools, game room/arcade, activities center, gift shop, and fire pit. As with our room, some of the amenities need upgrades. For instance, the hot tub was lukewarm at best, and the markings on the shuffleboard had eroded off. The resort also had a full calendar of "Resort Experiences", which included arts and crafts, shows, fitness classes, and more. HOWEVER, we were three days in before we even learned that there were resort activities, as we weren't given a schedule at check-in. For instance, we would've gone to the Sunday evening "Karaoke Welcome Party" at the fire pit, but we weren't aware. We DID enjoy the "Hula Fire Show" a few nights later. A few other random points. (1) Parking could be challenging if it's important to you to have parking close to your unit. If not, there's plentiful parking (and a free shuttle, which we didn't utilize) behind Tower 4. We were able to get parking in Tower 2 most evenings, except one evening when we got back late. (2) we were surprised that the concierge did have discount tickets to the shows in Myrtle Beach that we wanted to attend. (3) we would stay here again, but probably wouldn't pay extra again for a higher floor.

The oceanfront rooms are spacious as it includes a living room with a sofa and murphy bed, a full kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, utensils, pots/pans, etc. There is also a washer and dryer in the condo. Our rooms were not cleaned daily, possibly on an every other day schedule. We had to request the bathroom to be cleaned thoroughly by leaving a note for housekeeping which was indeed addressed by the time we returned to our room. Overall, the rooms were clean, well maintained. The elevators stopped working multiple times during our stay or would stall while we were inside the elevator. The staff were all very pleasant and the bellhops would use some "muscle" to make sure the doors would close. This is a newer hotel, so that was a bit surprising although I recognize they have a lot of traffic. The gift shop was pretty empty as far as essentials and gifts. I did enjoy the restaurants onsite, and I would recommend prepaying for the breakfast when you book. I did have to return to guest services the next morning since they did not provide me with the tickets we would need for each breakfast. I enjoyed the easy beach access, and also they have several pools for both the kids and adults. Our condo was a corner room which had a partial view of the ocean from the living room and a view of the street from the bedroom which wasn't the best since our bedroom was located right next to these large HVAC units. On one morning, we looked outside our bedroom balcony and saw a person working on one of the units. Imagine opening up the curtains and seeing someone outside of your room where I could not immediately identify him as Avista resort staff. I reported this to guest services and was told that our room could not be changed since they were completed sold out. Alternatively, the manager stated she will tell the staff to notify us prior to working outside of our bedroom. I felt like I spent more time trying to explain why this was especially troubling for me and left that conversation feeling disappointed in the "resolution" thinking more could have been done to ensure we felt comfortable during our stay. Also, the pictures on their website should accurately depict what the view actually looks like from the bedroom if choosing a corner room. Check out is at 11 am and went pretty smoothly. You can communicate with guest services via text throughout your stay including notifying when you have left the room. If my family chose to stay here again, I would definitely not book the corner view.
