I do not trust anything they say. They will tell you that components need to be changes when they do not. I will not elaborate further other than to say there is no magic in their system. Everything they use is off the shelf. You can find quality companies to change filters and membranes for a fraction of the cost Water Techniques charges. Earlier this year had issue with system not producing enough cold RO water. Technician arrived and could not figure out problem. After a process of elimination I had to show him that the large cold water tank was not operating correctly. I received a price 3x+ the last replacement price. I have decided to operate the system in its diminished state until it fails completely. I will then look at replacing the system with a more competitive product for home RO soft water use. read more

After a few tries with our system we have success. First the water wouldn't come on and the battery kept beeping but they back came out again and it seemed to work. New tank put in and it seemed all right. Started beeping again so we called again. Danny came out and put a new part in and so far it works. Water Techniques is the company to call for your RO system needs. Had an issue that required a new Permeate pump, and diagnosis of a constant dripping problem that Moulton water informed me of. Called for and received a very timely appointment. Danny and his assistant showed up properly on time and Danny was quick to evaluate the cause of the dripping, and flawlessly installed the pump. He explained what the issue was and reviewed the functions of the various line valves. Having someone knowledgeable and efficient at handling the problem was really a positive experience. We have been with Water Techniques for around 20 years for our RO system. We would get a service call when the filters needed to be changed out. Never had any issues, but never needed much other than normal service. We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen, and we wanted the system reinstalled by them and filters changed out. They said it would be $601 and some change. We thought that was a little high and we questioned it. We asked if they could do any better with being long term customers, but they "Couldn't commit." A few days later a manager called and asked if we still wanted it reinstalled and we needed to send pics of under the sink. we questioned the price again, and the manager said quote, wow! You have an old system, and it's going to be $1000 unquote. They obviously didn't want our business. Well, it worked out for the best as we found a family owned company that came out quickly, changed 3 filters, reinstalled everything very professionally and even helped out with an issue at our sink faucet and didn't charge extra for it. Please watch out for the SOPHISTICATED SCAM from this Water Techniques company! The sales person named MAGGIE there would not disclose upfront that the company will charge $130 if the technician show up and customer don't accept the pricing they give out on the spot. If you ask for her manager to dispute, he would take side with her; So don't even try that as you will waste time! The technician they send would give you either a) Your system needs a lot to fix blah blah blah and it will be ~$800 to fix; or b) A total quote of ~ $1000 for the RO system (quoted ~ $700) plus installation fee (quoted ~$300) where if you google, you know you can buy a brand new one ( same brand, and brand new. e.g Hydrotech RO) for $329 on Amazon with free shipping and can install yourself or hire a handyman to do for next to nothing. In either case, when they show up at your door, you would expect a ridiculous pricing and if you don't take it, they would ask for $130 or would not leave hour house until you pay. I have been using this company for maintenance of my water softening and filtration system for quite some time. I have learnt that they are dishonest and not transparent when it comes down to maintenance, their technicians have been trained to lie and "misdiagnose" . Every time they come up with costly repair estimates which I have learnt that are unnecessary after seeking a second and a third opinion from two other companies in the same industry. Stay away from this company . Alejandro Leon, one of their last visiting technicians was dishonest and manipulated the system for it to be off on purpose by shutting the bypass valve !! I've had two homes and Water Techniques has been the staple in both! Their customer service is impeccable, their product works wonders on hard water, and it's reliable. Recently, I had an issue with an o-ring and they sent Grant out. This guy was incredibly customer oriented and even answered questions NOT related to their system. We bought a new home that had Water Techniques installed filtration and water softener system. Arranged to have them out to refill the carbon and get the system up and running. Quote was ~$3,800. We thought this was expensive, but we thought it best to go with them since they did the original install and knew the equipment set-up. They informed me that the two existing filter valves have systemically failed causing whole house flooding and they recommended that I replace them at a cost of $995 each plus labor. I took their word and went ahead with the replacement. I later looked online and found no articles mentioning the specific replaced filter valves failing and causing flooding and I also called the manufacturer (Pentair) and they said that they also were not aware of any failures causing flooding. Further, the Water Techniques rep informed me that one of my water on/off valves was stuck and could not be moved. Therefore, I'd need to have my plumber replace it (or they could do it for an added fee) and then they would need to do additional work (at a cost) to get the new valves connected and running as the new filter valves that they installed do not interface with the plumbing the same way as the old (this would take about 2-3 hours or around $600 extra). And so now the filters are sitting in my hallway waiting for them to come back and do this additional work after the plumber makes the repair. However, after becoming suspicious, I checked the water on/off valve myself this morning to see if I could turn it. It functions perfectly. There is no need to replace it. They also charged me an additional $500 for a membrane that I'm no longer sure was truly needed or not. I called the company to discuss these issues and was connected with Lily who defended their actions. I asked to speak with the owners and Lily responded in an email that there is "no owner per say but I can have our President call you or Service Manager". I'm not sure how the company has no owner. I asked for the President to call me a few times and it has been almost 24 hours now with no call. UPDATE 12-10-20: As Martin points out in his response, we required that Water Techniques remove the overpriced valves that we did not need and that they attempted to sell us and return the originals. However, we were not comfortable reinstalling the originals since Water Techniques had them in their possession for a few days. We have now hired another company (highly reviewed on Yelp) to sell us and install the EXACT SAME Pentair new valves that Water Techniques was trying to sell us. They sold us these EXACT SAME Pentair valves for 60% LESS than what Water Techniques was trying to sell them for and charged less on the installation. Confirming again that Water Techniques was attempting to take advantage of us. When I told this story to my contractor, he reminded me that he had warned me against using Water Techniques, but said that he should have been stronger in his recommendation. I wish he had. Using Water Techniques cost us over $3000 more than what we needed to spend along with wasted time and frustration. read more

Burst fitting on a system installed in 2018 - the part should have a 5-10 year lifetime and isn't a typical maintenance item, according to their own tech. Flooded the first floor, damaged the moulding and rugs extensively. After first blaming the problem on a lack of maintenance (it isn't - already admitted the fitting isn't a typical maintenance item), they informed us that their warranty is 30 days for the system that's meant to last 5-10 years. I'll update this if they resolve the issue appropriately, but as is, this is a complete joke. read more

We have contacted this company because their name was on our old water purifier system inherited from the house. I would definitely never recommend this company as they have tried to fool us with additional and not necessary items to our filtration system like a pressure valve regulator on the mainstream at the entrance of the house aguing that a water surge could possibly create pressure inside our house cause major leaks on old water pipes like ours. On top of this, this company is requesting that we pay $130 for just giving us an estimation, an estimation that is way above (saying $2000 above) the range of other purification systems on the market. I needed new filters for a system I bought from them when I remodeled our kitchen. The technician that they sent to my house floundered for 3-4 hours because he could not figure out why the system was not allowing water to flow out. Now mind you normally a filter change is only $99 at most places, there charge was $110. After he left I received a bill for $500.00!!! I called and said this is wrong, its not my fault that your technician did not know what he was doing. This was August 2019, now I paid Water Techniques $243 dollars on August 21, 2019. Currently I have refused to pad an additional $200 they say I owe them for their technicians lack of expertise!!! They installed a house water softener system and water purification/insta-hot system with licensed plumbers that we made available to them to follow their instructions. The installers never tested the water and we discovered the system was not working properly. We pulled out the system and installed a new system made in the USA not the Chinese substandard system that was sold to us. When we asked for a credit and return their defective system and their response was that my wife signed off on the installation. They did not provide a credit or accept any responsibility. Many years ago I purchased a 5 stage reverse osmosis water filter system for my kitchen. It's truly awesome... the water tastes amazing. Way better than bottled water. But cleaning the system and changing the filters, which needs to be done yearly, is a royal pain. I called everywhere and no one would come service it because they hadn't installed it. (I had purchased it online, and installed it myself.) Most places would only service systems if you bought or rented it directly from them. Water Techniques was the only company I found that will service any system, regardless of who installed it. And even better, they are extremely reasonably priced. I've had them service the system in my home for around 5 years now. They always arrive in the given time window. They call when they are on their way. They perform the service in a quick and efficient manner. The last time they were here there was a problem that needed to be fixed with the system in addition to the cleaning. One of the filter housings had needed to be replaced (I was aware of this before they came...) It turned out to be only a few dollars more... a welcome surprise! So if you have a system that needs servicing, you can't do better. If you don't have a system, they also sell and install, so get one. You won't regret it... some of the best money I've spent. read more

I have had many different people come and service my water, but this last man Danny was the best ever, he was so polite, informing and he was great with timing, clean up and very aware of his work. Also I had an appointment 10 to 2 but needed to leave by 1:30 due to a sudden issue, so I called to see if I needed to reschedule and thankfully the lady who answered was very understanding she asked if she could call me bk so she could see where and when Danny would be arriving. Dear Mark, I want to make sure you know how thankful I am to you and Jorge at Water Techniques. Your team is so caring, honest, patient and thoughtful when it comes to your business and the product you sell. I was very worried when my contractor wanted to tear up two walls to add water pipes in our ceiling to get fresh city water to the front of the house for 2 sprinkler units. He also wanted to remove the Bioguard system and switch us to a totally different company and use HousePure 9100 Twin Tank by WaterInc. My hesitation served me well. The folks at WaterInc. were honest when they called me back. They said, 'Why would you want to swap out your tank and then... get no service". The bypass valve and Jorge's unwavering patience with me over the phone saved us from switching to a new water treatment company, two months of noise, expense and construction and a possible "no fix" to the issue. I love it..the fix was 2 screwdrivers and simple labeling on the Bioguard tank- "Salt Water" and "City Water/Plants". The gardener and I and the family understand the bypass system on the unit ---thanks to you and Jorge for taking the time. I am a very happy customer. read more

Excellent well managed service. They delivered everything that was promised. The system performed exactly as described during the sales process. The installation went perfectly. The communication through the phases was more than ideal. I had real concerns with potential changes to pressure in our showers. We actually had more pressure post installation. I was skeptical that my showers would no longer have water spots. All the spots are gone. They told me my wife would love the system because she has super long hair... she raves about the quality of water. The faucet added at the sink provides perfectly tasting water. Its great to be able to make hot cocoa or tea in just seconds. The guys that came out to the house to do the work were polite and very conscientious of working in our home. They cleaned up everything. I even think our garage floor was a little cleaner than when they started. They also took time to point out a few other plumbing issues while they were on site. They even fixed them before they left. The girl in the office Joyce deserves applause for running such a tight ship and communicating extremely well over the phone and email. In a world where it is getting increasingly difficult to find great service... Water Techniques did not disappoint. This is a rare instance where I would honestly give a higher rating if I could. As a follow up to my original post of 5/17/16 we have since had another company look at our home filter system that Water Techniques installed and serviced. Apparently the Water Techniques tech that installed the new unit forgot to install a flow restrictor which has cost us an unknown amount in our water bill since installation 5 months ago and has never allowed the system to operate properly. In regards to their attempt to change out the control head of a media tank for $500. due to a minor leak. It was later determined by the other company that a couple $5.00 O rings was all that was needed. In my opinion I would highly suggest BUYER BEWARE when dealing with WATER TECHNIQUES. read more

Water Techniques is a joke. While there is nothing wrong with their water, their attitude to their customers is amazingly bad. If nothing goes wrong, all is fine. If anything at all goes wrong, its your fault, not theirs, and they don't hesitate to let you know they don't need your business. They were recommended to us by Jeffery Sears, CEO of Fixtures Living (now PIRCH), from which we bought most of our bath and kitchen fixtures, and some smaller specialized appliances. We have had a series of problems with this company. First, during a pre-install check - which we scheduled to have both our plumber and the Water Techniques tech present, so that Water Techniques could tell our plumber exactly where they wanted the valves to go, they smashed our newly installed and painted drywall in a corner so hard with a toolbag that the entire plaster corner came off down to the metal. I was right there behind the guy and saw and heard it happen, and said something to him. Nothing nasty, just "whoa! you just broke that!" and he had the gall to tell me "I didn't do it." Second, (remember we had Water Techniques tell our plumber exactly where they wanted the plumbing, to their specifications?) during the installation they jammed the water tank in so it pushed on the sump pump vent line and broke the connection. They then told us to "just pull out the salt tank" after they had filled it full of about 500lbs of softener salt. Zero apologies. Best of all? They blamed the positioning of the tanks on the plumber, "due to the way the plumber plumbed the bypass in and out" [email from Mark Wakefield, VP]. If the salt tank could be moved by us, the customer, why wasn't it positioned properly by the installer in the first place? Third, we couldn't even get customer service when it came time to pay for the second installment of 50%. I left messages that went unanswered and played phone tag for days. Regarding the drywall damage, first Water Techniques offered to pay for and offset the cost of the repair, and then very rudely demanded the invoice as proof that it had in fact been done. Guys, if you had asked and not been so offensive about it, I would have gone to the trouble of retrieving a copy from our drywall company and providing it to you. Finally, THEY REFUSED TO SERVICE THEIR OWN EQUIPMENT. I scheduled an appointment to service the filters and check settings with their office. A couple of hours later, I got a telephone call from Richard Ethridge (according to LinkedIn, the COO), who told me point-blank that they had decided that "we weren't a good fit", that they were choosing not to service our equipment, that they weren't going to show up for their appointment, and that he could "help us" by providing a name of another contractor who would service our equipment. I have never dealt with a company that is more contentious, sarcastic, and just plain disrespectful of its customers. Also, they are terribly snooty and their VP Mark Wakefield told us very directly that "most of their clients are multimillion dollar homes". For their list of "references", which I didn't read until much later, they don't reference how much their own project cost (I think our install ran about $9000.00), but rather the cost of the home itself, e.g. "XXX Residence. $9 million. YYY Residence. $11 million." Really. Who cares? Are you installing a water treatment system, or claiming credit for their whole house? Our house is pretty high-end but not quite in that range. Apparently, Water Techniques thinks it's appropriate to then treat you with contempt. Good luck getting any response other than to go fly a kite if you ever have any problems with this company. Unfortunately, with Water Techniques this is the opposite. Net/net: Look elsewhere to get your home/residential water treatment needs. Water Techniques did a great job installing my whole house softener system and kitchen RO dispenser. I decided to write the review because they quickly and accurately worked through a technical issue that I thought would add hundreds of $ to my installation costs. The layout of my home posed a challenge for the softener drainage. My nearest drain was very far from where I wanted the water softener located and was in my home and behind my HVAC system. The issue was quickly and efficiently solved by the technical staff at Water Techniques. They figured out a way to do the installation that both solved the challenge efficiently and very cost effectively. Overall, I am very pleased. Water Techniques installed my whole house and RO system 4 years ago when I built my home in Corona del Mar and I've been on an annual service contract since. Everything has gone as smooth as can be--from Tammy in the office, to the service people and finally, to Mark Wakefield who is so knowledgable and responsive on all water and equipment questions. We've had 1 major piece of equipment fail in 4 years & it was promptly and efficiently replaced under our service agreement. We live in an area with very hard water & our system has performed so well--none of our plumbing fixtures have any damage from the hard water--unlike all of our neighbors without the system.
