We hired Ryan about two months ago. He came out and looked at our pool because of it's size. When he arrived we agreed he would come on Wednesdays and he charged us 200 per month. Service included chemicals, vacuum, and brush and net. He basically came on Wednesday approximately 2 times. He sent texts claiming he couldn't come for rain, he was sick, due to wind, or he just wouldn't show up. He would show up on Thursday at times, but after he left the pool wasn't clean. This last time he came on Thursday, I think he was surprised that we were home since he knew that we weren't there most of the time. I said hello as he was just starting to clean. By the time I got in the house and fed my dogs I saw him leaving on the security cameras. I thought wow that was really fast for the pool to be done since the pool had leaves at the bottom. When I went to see the pool I was shocked that he would leave it that way. Giving him the benefit of the doubt I texted him to inquire if he was coming back. When he didn't respond by the next day I texted him we no longer needed his service. He didn't value us and showed the upmost disrespect by not even responding. Sad!! read more

I hired this company in March and my pool was fine for a few months, and then we started having issues. Ryan comes every week for a very quick cleaning session and recently we've had issues of algae, murky water, etc. I've called and left more than one voicemail, my boyfriend has asked him to call me back when he comes to the house so that I can get to the bottom of what's going on and I never received a response. I gave him every opportunity to help me help him and understand what was going on and he refused to answer my calls or call me back. The only time I heard from him was when I asked him not to come back and all he did was send a text that read, "just sent you an invoice." If you're okay with subpar service, a pool left in worse condition than he started working on it in, and zero communication, then go with Waterboy Pool Service. I should have just called someone else but I try not to make a big deal out of stuff I thought he might have been having a bad day, but it continued. Went out of town and came back to a gross green pool with a layer of ick on top. Called Ryan and happened to catch him near the house, and he arrived within 10 minutes. He quickly assessed the situation, checked out the equipment, made some adjustments as well as a small repair, skimmed out the ick, and took the time to answer a bunch of questions I had about the pool equipment (we just recently purchased the home). We hired Waterboy Pool Service to clean / maintain the pool at our VACANT rental property. When I handed the pool service off to them, the pool was crystal clean and ready to swim. After 3 service visits, he sent me an out of the blue text message saying he was quitting because our pool was struggling and needed repairs. At NO POINT IN TIME did he reach out regarding repairs or say he was turning off our pump/filter. When I found out he was quitting, it had been exactly one week after turning off my pool equipment. I called and texted him immediately asking why he was quitting, but there was no answer. I hired a new pool company the same day who came to service the pool, but our gate key was missing so they couldn't gain entry. His employee lost our gate key!! I had to hire someone else to replace our gate lock. After the gate key was changed, our new pool company found the pool green, foggy, full of debris, and the water level 6 inches below the ideal depth. Ryan initially told me over the phone they would adjust the water timer as needed to keep the water level correct. Our new company tested our pool equipment and confirmed it was fine. This company is a joke... they are poor at communicating, only care about upcharges, getting paid, and doing minimal work. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THESE GUYS... THEY ARE NOT RELIABLE. read more

Ryan is AWESOME. We had no idea what we were doing with our pool as we've never owned one and he came out willing to help teach us everything we needed to know about it without any hesitation. We had pool inspectors when we bought the home but they weren't friendly when it came to teaching us anything. Ryan didn't have everything he needed at the time because he wasn't expecting to actually work on the pool but he still ended up cleaning and adding the chemicals we needed and it looks 10 times better already in just 1 day! (Update) I had originally written a great review as in the beginning Ryan was great. However, that did not last long. We were in the process of selling our house and paid Ryan to do some leak repair work, replace a burned out spa light bulb and we prepaid for one final service to make sure that the pool was in top shape before the new owners took possession. Problem #1: Ryan had replaced the light bulb in the spa, but the day before closing on the house we received a call from the buyers realtor telling us that the lights were not working again. We called Ryan and he stated he would not be able to get out to the house to fix the problem until the day after we were to close on the sale! This was his repair that had not worked! So the night before closing I had to replace the bulb myself in the dark working by flashlight! When I disassembled the light housing, I found that the bulb itself was broken. The cause of this was either he had tightened the bulb too much and broken it, or he had installed the incorrect bulb (it was too high of a wattage). I am inclined to believe that he twisted it too hard as it was a cracked bulb and not shattered. Either way, he knew our tight time table, had been working with us for a month or so on the pool, and did not make it right. I should not have had to repair it myself after paying him $85 to fix it. Problem #2: We had prepaid to have one final cleaning performed and had scheduled it 2 days prior to the closing. Ryan did not show up, nor did he call. When we we called him to report the spa light was out and to ask about the final cleaning he claimed not to remember that we had prepaid and scheduled the cleaning/chemical service and stated that he could not get to the house until the day after we were to close. This was obviously too late as we would no longer own the home at that point. Bottom line: We paid for a light repair that was not done correctly and we had to correct the problem ourselves, and we paid for a cleaning/chemical check (service) that we never received! Ryan did some good work initially, but that good work was quickly overshadowed by the poor final days of our need for service. I feel that a refund for the light repair and for the prepaid service should have been in order, however this was in September and not once did we ever receive another call from Ryan. read more

He missing several weeks around the Xmas/New Years times, and he never came or called the third Thursday in a row of not cleaning because of rain. When he finally did arrive, he failed to clean the spa and left the skimmer unhooked and loose by the pool. He never called to say what was wrong with the pool. I would never recommend him---there are just many people who take pride in their work---unlike Ryan. read more

I see the pattern in the reviews of other pool owners. The first few months the service was ok. Today my pool is all green and the guy refuses to come and do his job after I told him that I have the issues, throwing the the excuse 'I don't know when the next time I'll be in your area'.. Really? Never was I rude or not nice to him. He comes only to clean it once a week for 5 min, never checks the chemicals in the pool unless you ask him to.
