She claimed it was the food we order ( mine was a lobster roll) .the rest of the table was crab cakes , steak and chicken. When I did get my lobster roll it's was probably the worst one I ever had . This place is great for ambiance and location. It feels very cozy (working woodstove in the alcove near the bar) in winter and has a great view of the water. For food and service, it's typical seafood tourist fare. We had the mussels as an appetizer and the mussels were local but they were huge. I find that any large shellfish doesn't have any flavor and this was the case. The broth was good when dipped by bread but wasn't remarkable. I got the crab, bacon and avocado sandwich. Again, not much flavor, even with bacon! I got the three bean salad as a side and loved how many kinds of beans were in it. Service was slow (it was busy) and when the mussels came out, the bowl that was perched on top for the shells was very hot (too hot to touch) making it obvious that the dish had sat under the heat lamp. This spot is always fun to watch the harbor and all the boat activity. We were lucky to get a table right on the edge outside. We were a party of two and ordered the mussels and a wedge salad. Both were delicious, but I highly recommend the muscles they are so soft and juicy sweet/ tender! This place has the best view of the water, especially if you get a table outside. They don't take reservations, you need to give your name and wait. If you come after 5 in the summer you will have to wait for a while. We didn't get a table outside which was a bit disappointing, I wanted to eat and enjoy the view. Our waiter was very nice and friendly. Food is ok but not amazing. The halibut was good, the mussels were good, and so was the salmon. Beautiful restaurant. Did not eat there. The host would not "seat us" without our entire party present. We were there at 4pm on a Saturday. The place was half empty. Staff was unfriendly and rude. This place looks lovely, and is located on the harbor in a summer tourist town. So my expectations were low. I was referred by a local, and very glad I was. The food was amazing. Maybe we hit it at a good time? It was about 1230/1 PM on a Wednesday I believe. We sat near the water and I enjoyed the best burger I have ever had. It involved barbecue sauce and bacon as well. Even the fries were good. my companion had a lunch size portion of fish and chips, which was perfect. It was light and she also commented that the fries were good. And, three bean salad, also fantastic. And the staff were truly good too! How can this be? In a tourist town, no less! Despite being from Portland, I'm not big on pretention. If you have a small party you can see if there are seats at the bar. Very good cocktails and the inside remind me of being inside a boat with all the handcrafted woodwork. Such a neat place! Everyone in Camden recommends this place, but it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. The young host was friendly and the ambience and lighting in the dining room by the water was good. Aside from that, there was an older gentleman helping host who was rude. The waitress was too busy, I think, because we barely got waited on. Excellent service and delicious food! My friend and I were on a weekend trip to see fall leaves in Maine when we stopped by here for dinner. Around 7:30pm on a Sunday we were told there was a 40-45 minute wait for a table for 2, but the wait ended up being more around 30 minutes. Although the restaurant was super busy, the staff was very friendly to everyone including those of us who had just arrived. My friend and I went full-on lobster mode since we heard that Maine is known for good lobster. We split a lobster stew that was probably one of the best soups we've ever had the honor of tasting -- creamy and milky, not too thick or salty, generous portion of lobster meat inside. We both wish we got the larger size instead of the small size! I had the lobster risotto which also had generous portions of lobster meat. My friend seemed to enjoy her lazy lobster as well. It felt like a lot of food, yet we didn't feel uncomfortably bloated afterward, only super satisfied! So I suspect the food is made with quality ingredients and not too greasy. The food is a bit pricey, but that's to be expected from three lobster dishes and a good location by the water. They were not stingy about lobster meat at all we had no complaints about the price. Service was excellent throughout our dinner. Our waitress came by regularly to refill our waters and ask how things were going. She also calmly took a nice photo for us despite how busy the restaurant was. Food didn't take too long to come out. Lettuce was cut in large difficult to eat pieces and the veggies were not super fresh or flavorful. Would not recommend that salad. For the price, it was robbery. This was an okay stop in Camden on our way to Islesboro. The view was stunning, and worth a stop to grab some photos of the water. The food was typical for a touristy town - it felt pretty pricey for what you were getting. The food was good - lobster roll was really fresh and tasty, but it was more expensive than I was expecting in a town that get's lobster in their backyard. The service was incredibly slow, we ordered drinks immediately upon sitting and it took close to 20 minutes to receive them. Waters went without being refilled for too long, it just felt like we spent a lot of the time looking around for answers on where everything was. I have been wanting to eat at the Waterfront Restaurant in Camden for a few years. We did tonight. What a disappointment. Although we had a great table overlooking the harbor, the food was terrible. The scallops were under cooked and watery. The lobster chowder was huge but cold. The Brie cheese on a blueberry bread which tastes more like a muffin. We were half an hour early for our reservation and they were able to seat us. We were too hungry to think of pictures! The food was very nicely plated and all delicious! I had Fish & Chips with au gratin potatoes instead of fries. The haddock was fresh, sweet, moist and crispy without being greasy. Best I have had in quite some time! The cole slaw was different than traditional with peppers, I was glad the red onion was in large pieces so I could remove most of it (a little goes a long way). My husband had the Herb Seared Salmon with Butternut Squash special. It looked very pretty snd he loved it. We shared a Profiterole for dessert, it was excellent!
