    Spinach goat cheese brioche

Sunday pop in for a light bite and lattes. My dirty Chai tea latte was a blend of both spicy and sweet Chai mix and was perfection for this crispy autumn afternoon. The warm spinach goat cheese brioche hit the spot, perfect amount of savory. We also got an egg, sausage and cheddar hot sandwich on fluffy brioche, exactly the small bite we were looking for! The baristas were super helpful and sweet when helping us decide what to order, and both indoor and outdoor seating areas were clean. Will definitely be back!

Sweet Spot To Grab That Coffee Before Hitting The Edmonds Ferry SITREP My buddy Jenner and I were on our to hit the ferry, but we were looking for some caffeinated refreshment and saw this spot just kitty-corner to the ferry-building. Definitely worthwhile to investigate, right? THE SETUP Waterfront Coffee Company ("Waterfront") is a charming independent coffee shop that provides a wide array of caffeinated beverages and some sweet and savory treats. Reasonably priced, the coffee is hearty and does the trick of giving me that caffeinated kick. And the pastry treats are definitely worth going for: the scone was totally yummy! THE LOWDOWN Stop for your coffee and treats here before you get on the ferry. There is not much offered on the ferry itself, so make sure you stock up here first.

Sancho and Quijote are two local brothers who visit the Warerfront cafe for their pup cups. So spoiled, so loved.

The waterfront cafe is my favorite place to grab coffee and a pastry in Edmonds. I go on walks with my dogs and make sure to stop by and even my dogs know that it is a place to stop at. Thank you Waterfront cafe for so many good memories.

Okay. Coffee is about community. This place has two legged and four legged communities. Depend on your direction in the ferry line, this is the first or the last chance coffee meters from the loading dock to or from Edmonds. This narrow coffee shop also serves light breakfasts and modest lunches. The coffee is fine. I had a Mocha. The price is typical. The service was good. The barista was kinda. There isn't a lot of seating inside. But it seems as though this is a walk in order and take and talk joint. Yet, the patrons inside seemed like locals, as they relaxed in front of a wall of puppy Polaroid snap shots-- hence the four-legged community. You can't go wrong here. There are probably 12 coffee shops in the bowl not named Starbucks. Try anyone of them for the true flavor of Edmonds. You can't go wrong here.

Coffee and ice cream detour prior to boarding the Ferry. Stopped here as it was a bit hot and a nice cold drink sounded pleasant. Moderately busy. Small space but the ambience was great and inviting. Staff was knowledgeable and efficient. WiFi offered for those seeking a longer stay while sipping on coffee. Minutes away from park and beach. Beautiful views!

Love their lattes! They're super creamy/frothy. The interior of this cafe is tiny but there's probably 5 or 6 tables inside, plus a few outside. We will definitely come back!

This meal was a maple bar and a Mango, lemonade, smoothie

I'm not sure if it's because something changed on the side of the bakery (maybe recipe or personnel changes?) or on my side, having tried more bakeries around the area. On our last visit we bought two loaves of bread to accompany a butter tasting. Both loaves I found to be not nearly as high quality as I remember previously. Pane Bello ($9) - The crust basically doesn't exist in this bread. It's soft and leathery and doesn't give that satisfying crispness of a well baked bread. The interior, while having good crumb structure, is particularly dry and almost crumbly. The taste is mild, perfect for pairing with higher end butters. (3/5) Parmesan Black Pepper Sourdough ($9) - This batard has similar texture as compared to the Pane Bello. It has the addition of plenty of black pepper baked inside, spaced out rather evenly, allowing a peppery bite every time. There's salty and fatty parmesan baked on top, giving a caramelized salty umami. It definitely has more flavor than the Pane Bello, but suffers from the same textural issues. (3/5) We purchased both loaves at 10AM on a Sunday morning and they were consumed within 2.5 hours, so I don't think it's an issue with storage. I ate a bit of their regular foccacia at a work event too. It has a good crispy exterior and is salted well on the top. Unfortunately the interior isn't the best, having a really dense, chewy crumb. I'm honestly not sure what happened. I really loved The Cottage when I first moved here 1.5 years ago. Now? I have a number of bakeries I'd choose over here in a heartbeat.

I asked for their most popular dessert, the guy at the register said it was the ube basque so I ordered it, to go. The flavor was good but I disliked the amount of food coloring used. The purple color was quite exaggerated and my stomach complained about it later on. I noticed a similar intensity with the green color of the pistachio option. I should've known better and order something else but I was tempted by it since I was told it was their best selling option. Sadly and very disappointed, I later discovered on their website that this ube basque is not even shown on their menu! Apparently, croffles are their most popular desserts... I don't understand why they didn't tell me that... but whatever. Intense food dye + lack of honesty with the recommendation = Hence the 3 stars.

I tried to revisit once during the holiday season, but the pastry case was cleaned out except for three cookies. I had much better luck stopping in and hanging out onsite (1/8/26). Same welcoming counter person/barista. Better available variety, and I opted for the featured special, 12oz mocha and a pain au chocolat for $9, which was a great value! There were just two others onsite. There were a lot of takeout customers, including regulars, that I observed while onsite at a nearby two top. My mocha was decent, the pain au chocolat was fresh, good flavor and texture, despite being pretty hollow. The photo I took created quite the illusion, looked like it had mass quantities of melty chocolate. Despite the bakery/cafe has an unassuming, now faded yellow exterior and well worn interior, French and Vietnamese inspired Grand Pere Bakery has quite the longevity record and staying power since March 2014. Pro tip: make sure to show up in the morning for better selection for both sweet and savory items. Their pastries are baked fresh onsite, but I've made the mistake of showing up midday and towards closing and their pastry case would be slim pickings. They also have a great variety of beverages available too. Espresso, teas, and milk teas as examples. The mocha has improved, very coffee forward and not cloyingly sweet. Just needs to be hotter temp wise, but that's just me. My favorite go tos has been variable depending on availability, but recent visits have been their ham and cheese croissants. I greatly appreciate the offer to have it warmed up if dining onsite. It's just a strange pairing to place such tasty pastries on a paper plate and then provided flatware, knife & fork or just a fork. I appreciate that this indie bakeshop & cafe has been going strong and steady since 2016, so coming up on a decade! Flying under the radar, but iykyk this is a popular destination.
