Waterfront Pizza may be iconic in Port Townsend, but it does not make good pizza. Crusts are like white bread, thick and formless. If their tomato sauce is not from a can, it does a pretty good imitation. For anyone who knows the difference between great, or even good, pizza, and mediocre or lousy pizza, do not expect much from Waterfront, unfortunately. And they are very pricey. Pizza by the slice is nice when strolling the main street of Port Townsend. Decent price for a big slice (4.00) and lots of variety. Crust was a bit bland for me but the toppings were plentiful and the portion filled me up to a comfortable level. Seating is very limited so this is a grab and stroll type of place. read more

The pizza is great, but I got yelled at for ordering pizza to be delivered. Every year I attend Strange Brewfest at The American Legion. We usually end up at the Pourhouse after and enjoy Waterfront pizza. We walked by and stopped in to order, and were told it's better to call, which is ridiculous as we were walking by. They had 3 slices for individual sale, and a line of 6 couples to order. What else did they have to do, but take our order? Last year we were also given attitude for ordering pizza 15 minutes before closing. It's a special event weekend for the 16th year and they act surprised and inconvenienced most years. I am going to reconsider my pizza options next year. read more

Just say NO! We were graced with wilted, dried out greens in the salad, greasy, salty pizza leading to giant stomach aches for both of us. We were excited to eat here, after smelling the pizza during our walkabout in lively Port Townsend. After throwing us the menus, our server angrily took our beer orders and disappeared. After 25 minutes, we caught her attention and she asked "do you have a question". We apologized for the inconvenience of trying to order and asked for a pizza, if it wouldn't be a huge bother. After another 30 minutes, during which we were treated to freezing cold drafts as they opened the door for smoke breaks, our pizza did come. Myself and 5 of my friends came in for lunch and we were approched by two employees that we were taking up too much space. we had two tables..each table sat 4..so yes having 6 peole requires two tables. Most excellent. I've been a thin crust convert for some time but this pizza changed me. Crispy bottom and chewy center topped with awesomeness and baked to perfection. Loved every bite of our veggie with added artichoke hearts and half with pepperoni. The 16" is huge. Busy place but very friendly and accommodating folks. Yummy! read more

Honestly, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Our server forgot to ring in our order so we waited for more than an hour without an apology, while people who arrived after us were served before us. To make matters worse, as soon as we'd finished eating, the two women working swooped in like vultures to clear our plates and drop our check... there were guests waiting to be seated and it was clear they wanted us to leave. While I finished my last slice and second beer (which I wouldn't have even ordered had our pizza not taken so long), my sister overheard these two women badmouthing us. Before we left, I let one of the two women working know that an apology would have been appreciated and the "sorry" she mustered out was less than sincere. This pizza is really good! So after a day of exploring the area we were looking for something to eat. For the time time it was alot of places had closed....I think it was around 8pm ish. Our choices were limited. We decided hoping for the best. We had walked by this pizza joint earlier in the day and thought it was a to-go place with a handful of chairs...we were wrong. They had a dinning room upstairs. When we walked up, another customer commented, "it takes 30 mins to get pizza....but worth it." We were like....ok....I guess will give it a try. We did, I think maybe 15-20 mins but after getting pizza we realized why. It was like a deep dish pizza loaded thick with premium toppings like sausage, olives, cheese. We ordered the medium (they have 2 sizes) and we had left overs for 2 people. THIS IS UP THERE WITH ONE OF THE BEST PIZZAS WE'VE EVER HAD. So realize this type of pizza takes time. I would definitely recommend this place if you want a great tasting pizza. If we ever visit Port Townsend area again we will definitely stop by again. Best kept secret in this little Victorian town, yet it's NO secret! If you miss this place during your visit you're absolutely insane! Grab a slice or a full pie, you won't regret it. Being from the Bay Area I know when I taste a live cultured traditional sourdough. This is it! Their crust is out of this world. They nailed the "hole-in-the-wall pizza joint" with flying colors. Best place in Washington, best on west coast and perhaps best I've ever eaten. Don't waste your time guessing around and taking a chance for another restaurant in this town. If you want the best go here, now. Toppings range from basic to gourmet. People are real friendly small town folks. Call ahead of time to order take out or get there early for upstairs seating. They are super small and fill up fast. The beach is right around the corner so if the weather is nice, you can always picnic on the sandy sunny beaches. Single slices range from around three to four dollars but they are a fairly good size. Full pizzas range in price depending on the number of toppings. Looking for a quick bite to eat in Pt Townsend? Waterfront Pizza's got you covered. After walking most of the day, we mostly just wanted a quick bite to eat. Who doesn't love pizza? Especially pizza by the slice! They have a regular restaurant too, but we just used the little pick up window area. We grabbed our slices to go and ate at some picnic tables on a little beach near by. Which I totally suggest other people doing. We saw otters!!!! The pizza itself is quite tasty, I would definitely come back for it again. The prices are a bit high at $4 for a slice, but its a BIG slice. Lots of different options available too. Everyone in my group enjoyed their different slice. Be warned though, the workers aren't very friendly. I can't believe I had the audacity to actually *ask* what toppings were on the various pizzas. I am sorry I don't know what the 3 different kinds of "meat" or "veggie" pizzas are. If you can get passed the jaded, smug workers, you can enjoy a quick, tasty lunch. read more

Well, I'm happy to inform you that I have found the best pizza not only on this side of the state, but dare I say in all of WA! I absolutely adore this place. Every slice I have ever tried has been nothing short of mouthwateringly astounding. My favorite is the one with pesto, tomatoes and mushrooms. I'm sure they have names but I can't remember them and that's not important anyway! The important part is the party in my mouth with every bite. Every time I go to PT we go for 2-3 nights and we eat dinner here every night. It just doesn't get old. If you're in the area- even if you're not and you just want to road trip for delicious pizza- GO HERE! I promise you will not be disappointed. And if you are... there may be something wrong with your taste buds. Tips: there's a small parking lot right next door, with 10 or fewer spots so you will probably have to park on the street and walk a bit. There's always at least a small line but they move pretty quickly so that's always a plus. I've never waited very long. There are only a few seats inside along the counter. My husband and I were here in town for my friend's wedding. My friend told me that we had to try Waterfront pizza and Elevated ice cream while we were in PT, so my husband and I wandered down here and each grabbed a slice of pizza to eat outside. I took one bite out of my pizza and I really loved it. However, a seagull was flying above me and pooped on me and my pizza. It was kind of awful. My husband was like, "suck it up. keep eating your pizza." I was like there's seagull poop on it and I have seagull poop in my hair. He thought I was overreacting and should just eat around the poop. He also wanted to go to elevated ice cream for dessert, but I told him I kind of needed to go and wash my hair. The service was inattentive and, once they acknowledged our presence, they were surly and rude. We attempted to get a seat in their upstairs dining room and were ignored. Darned good pizza! We ate inside, up top, in a cute little attic-type space looking out through an open window at the town's major "street" and shops.The service was warm and lovely and personal. The pie was terrific! We ordered the thin crust, and it was crackly and charred at the edges, just like you always hope it will be. The sausage and mushroom toppings were generous. This is classic, traditional, skilled pizza. I have been to Mozza and this pizza is better by a substantial margin. I am sure that the folks in Port T realize that they are living in Food Heaven. Overall really good pizza! The crust is good, but the pepperoni is really good! We sat upstairs and ordered while we warmed up from a brisk walk around Port Townsend. We ordered a 12" half pepperoni, 1/2 something with mild green chiles, onions and tiny pieces of sausage. Both really good! Second visit over many years, this streetside joint is just the grimy little nugget waterfront towns are made of (if they haven't been gentrified to death). Great pies, good toppings, good crust (someone said it was sourdough instead of traditional pizza dough?). By the slice downstairs you can sit at one of a few stools or on a bench outside and soak up the town's vibe. Upstairs you can sit like civilized folk, but seating's limited. Delivery or take-out, too. We opted for take out, got a half cajun/half pep with a slice of pep w/mushrooms & olives on the side. Again, good crust, sauce was tasty on it's own, toppings excellent. My all-time favorite pizza place in my hometown! Even living in Seattle I have not had better. It is amazing. Thin sourdough crust, tangy sauce, fresh toppings. My favorite is the pepperoni. You can buy pizza by the slice to go or sit at the counter and eat. Upstairs there is a charming little eating area you can sit and enjoy your meal while overlooking Water Street. Little hole in the wall that took our collective breath away with its scrumptious menu. Our group had the Foccacia as a side to complement our 16-inch Portuguese Delight pizza. The fluffy yet chewy texture of the Foccacia was delightful, while our pizza was baked with a more than generous dose of Linguica sausage, olives and mushrooms (see pictures).
