It was advertised to have over 40 vendors, but it actually seemed to be less and not sure I would promote it as a Food fair, since there were limited offerings. This is normally an event venue but we went for their artisan craft market which was held in a large heated tent. About 40 vendors displayed their wares. The most unique was a woman who made mittens from thrift store sweaters with many cute and cozy designs. A fun stop when in the area. read more

We just enjoyed the 11/2/2023 Fall Friendsgiving Dinner and wow: this was an AWESOME experience! Basically, it's a large-capacity family-style dinner best experienced with friends (you get the full table) or solo/couples (to meet new folks). We were surprised, as at least 150 people were there. I would have given 5 stars minus the following issues: 1) They ran out of wine during the "Open Bar," which is disingenuous since it's free beer, but cash/credit for wine and one cocktail option. Better learn to like beer or it'll cost more and some folks had so.many.glasses of wine... maybe they should max folks out at 2 glasses before dinner? 2) Water tastes like egg/sulfur. Bottled/filtered water is a must and how they've served it this long?- who knows! 3) Charcuterie/grazing station was a MESS because there were 6 tongs when they needed at least 15. Really strange that this standard issue was missed and people picking with their hands is not acceptable. 4) Finally, there's the STUNNING amount of food waste here(!!!) So much food is served and NONE of it can be taken home (we were told "not allowed due to the outdoor nature of this food service.") One table brought their own doggie bags (geniuses!) while otherwise, we saw massive amounts of uneaten food from the serving bowls get dumped. The food here was DELICIOUS, so watching it all go in the trash was depressing. (It may be the law and laws are really stupid sometimes.) Otherwise, LOVE this and will do it again in the Summer! This review is based on the many interactions over the years with the farm. The produce continues to be great so would give that a much higher score (5) and highly recommend, but averaging out amongst other interactions. A Wedding we attended there was fun and no complaints. The biggest move downward on this rating is the quality of the dinners at the farm. I think the first 2-3 dinners we attended years ago were incredible, the food was awesome, ambiance was amazing, drinks good, and service was decent. We were always excited to book another one. Since then, while the dinners are always fun because of the atmosphere, several things have taken a step back: -The food is simply not as good as it used to be, and at a recent cocktail dinner, it was almost all crawfish instead of an even mix of crawfish, crab, sausage so feels like it is getting overall cheaper, but not reflected in the ticket cost. It also felt even more vegetable forward in the past which really highlighted the farm and some of that feels lost. -As for the drinks, the beer dinners are always good. The cocktails at the cocktail dinners unfortunately have not been good, at all. When you pay $100 a person at a "Cocktail Dinner" you expect them to be good. One time there was 6 of them and all were below average to bad. Again, this wasn't the case in the past. Certainly not worth $100 a head when you have so many other options in the area. -Service is hit or miss but feels like it also wasn't as good as it used to be. All in all I hope this feedback helps them return to where it once was and I can come back with a 5 star review, rather then having to even consider if its worth going back. read more

I had my wedding at Heritage Prairie Farm. I booked my wedding in 2019 for a 2020 wedding but ended up having it in 2022 due to Covid. The wedding planning process was really nice and easy. We had Liz at the start then switched to Kara. They both were wonderful and really quick with responses which we were so appreciative of!! The day of the wedding we got ready at the farm house and Kiki was great help keeping everything running smoothly. Our food was incredible and we are so thankful for chef!! We asked for a few things to be gluten free and he was very accommodating. We are so appreciative of everyone behind the scenes the day of too and made sure to thank them during our speech. Everything ran smoothly and looked perfect. I would have given 5 stars but we did have some communication issues with Jessica (the GM) that were extremely disappointing. We made it clear from the start that we couldn't have the outdoor cats around because my dad is very allergic. We were reassured many times from our coordinators we would not have to worry and even told on our tour they could be kept away. The day before the wedding we had our rehearsal and I reminded our coordinator when I saw the cats with us in the barn and my dad who was allergic. Jessica sent me an email THE DAY BEFORE saying that it is "inhuman" to keep the outdoor cats inside. We had no issues keeping the cats away for two years so it was really sad the day before how it had flipped and became an issue. Thankfully we only saw the cats later in the evening. Overall our experience was amazing and our wedding was perfect due to all our incredible vendors!! I would recommend the farm and Liz and Kara are awesome to work with. :) read more

Where to begin... My fiancé and I fell in love with this venue and saw our special day being there. Had decided to get a contract and get our date locked in. They have a 3 day window for holding the date when you get the contract. Sunday was sent the wedding contract, with Wednesday being the day we need everything signed and paid for. Ok no worries. Reading the contract Monday we had a question about the contract. Tuesday morning called the venue to speak with Liz the event coordinator, she was out of office and our question could not be answered. Ok, so we email them Wednesday, promptly getting an email back with Liz saying "You booking deposit needs to be paid when you return the signed contract. I know you're contract is due today so just get it in the mail as soon as possible. I will send you a confirmation when it arrives in the mail. Yes, all deposits are $2500." An hour later we receive ANOTHER email saying "another couple in interested in the date and our deposit needs to be paid today" Today was Yom Kippur so guess what? We couldn't drive out there and hand them a check. After calling HPF MULTIPLE TIMES and emailing them to run our card which incurs a 3% fee. we do not hear back from HPF. Called and got someone on the phone and they said Liz was busy (sounds like a story of "we got more money from this other couple") After 6pm we receive an email from HOF saying they decided to not continue with the contract and our date was released to the other couple. Not only did HPF breach their signed contract that says a signed contract and deposit (which we authorized) is all that was needed. They also caused us to miss out on different venues. STAY AWAY. Only thing that deserves a star is the food, everything else was a nightmare. Happy to explain further for those contemplating having their wedding at heritage prairie farm, variwedding@gmail.com. Fisherman's inn, also in Elburn was my second choice, similar price point. Definitely wish I would've went to fisherman's. I've reached out to the owner after my wedding and she refuses to talk to me about my nightmare of a wedding day. Don't believe me? Try it. Her name is Jessica. I had an appointment to talk to her and that day came and went and the next day her assistant called me and said it slipped her mind. If you had an upset customer wouldn't you want to make that a priority? Possibly family owned, definitely all about the profit. We contemplated paying for one more hour, leaving at 10 instead of 9pm and they asked for $2,000. I asked what it included and they said the bartender and servers to pick up glassware. I have 15 other guests with aweful experiences with the event planner Shannon. TRUST ME, do not go through the same mistake. I regret booking my wedding here. Previous reviews mention employees that no longer work there. I'm guessing they had a change of management because it has definitely gone downhill. The positive reviews are only referring to the food and the atmosphere, the rest was a complete nightmare I'll have to remember the rest of my life. I promise. Arrived on time for rehearsal at 5:15, told us we all needed to be off the property at 5:30. As we were loading up in the car Shannon, event planner, leaves with her purse while florists were still on property. We were unnecessarily rushed. I was contacted the morning of my wedding saying the venue wanted to change a bunch of things, (I.e. cutting/serving cake at a different time, removing decor that they agreed to set up, etc). They did not cut or serve my three tier cake. We wanted cake cut after dinner and they said it wouldn't give them enough time to cut and serve the cake so we paid for another layer to give them a head start. They put about ten pieces on a side table and never served anyone. My guests asked me where the cake was the next day. We went to pick up some small decor the next day and they physically handed me back our three tier cake saying they never cut into it. Shannon, the event coordinator agreed to set up our Photobooth and just before the ceremony they unplugged it and it was out of order the remainder of the night. I even tried to fix it on my wedding night. We had a micro wedding due to covid, so it ended at 9, and they packed up all favors and started covering furniture at 8:45. I came home with 80% of the favors because of this. I had less than half a bin of decor they agreed to put out, never did. I had a vegetarian at the head table who was never served a meal, after several clarifying emails. She left the venue to get food for herself. We were missing cards that guests had left for us, and were never accounted for. I wanted photos of my new husband solo before everyone else was allowed in the reception, and they invited everyone in the tent. I had professional programs made that were never put out even when they agreed to do it. Spent about $1,500 on decor, photo booth, decor they agreed to set out, extra cake layer to help the venue, and it was all a complete waste. read more

My daughter and son-in-law had their wedding here on 5/14/21 and I cannot stop thinking about it. The venue was amazing, the coordinator was hardworking and friendly, and the staff was excellent. Not a detail was missed from the moment the bridal party arrived, until the last guest left. From start to finish we felt cared for. The ready rooms for both the men and women were well stocked with drinks, safety pins, breath mints, etc. Anything needed was handy (like scissors and needle and thread!). Our friends and family marveled over the touches like mason jars, eclectic dishes and spots to take pictures. The coordinator ran the event and also went with the flow, she was perfect for our couple that kept dissappearing to be present with guests. The food was spectacular too! It's a weird mix of sh*t to find yourself among on a random Thursday night, but I swear on my love of cats and Bill Murray that this is absolutely one of the coolest places in all of the city and suburbs. Scout's honor, yo! So, what is a Pizza Farm? Well, it's a farm that grows all fresh, organic, fruits, veggies, and grains and then makes a pizza menu that varies by week depending on what's ripe and in season to make you pizza in their barn-house brick-oven... and there's a mini donkey... and a goat... and booze... and goat milk lattes. It's pretty much in the middle of nowhere and you'll pass a youth correctional center with hella ominous barbed wire fences, but it's worth it. So unbelievably worth it. It's magical. No really. There was actually magician there for the kids, and he wasn't hokey at all. We were lucky enough to get a tricked performed as well when he needed a break from the kids, and I'll admit I totally thought he was gonna be lame ballz, especially since when we first saw him he running and sweating while chasing after his dove that tried to fly away, but I'm telling you guys, the card trick this dude did for us was some straight wizard sh*t. Move over, Gandalf... There's a new guy in town. Now listen up, because I'm super serious when I tell you that you absolutely NEED to clear your calendars and be sure to make it out here for at LEAST one, if not all, of the remaining and Thursday Pizza Nights at the Pizza Farm. Seriously, you owe it to yourself, your family, friends, and significant other to bring them out. It's a guaranteed good time. Peaceful, relaxing, beautiful atmosphere, family friendly but still romantic, fresh fruit falling from the trees, delicious, fresh as can possibly be pizza and ingredients, farmhouse cocktails and more. It doesn't get any better than this, folks. I could wax poetic for days about this place, but I'll let the million pics I took do a lot of the talking. The pizza was some of the best I've ever had, the beer was local, the wine was organic, the bourbon cocktails with gingerale and homemade raspberry preserves, or sweet tea vodka with lemonade made from real lemons were the truth. We got a campfire s'mores cookie and actually ended up staying for so long that we decided to order a second pizza for second dinner before the kitchen closed. I drank peach kombucha from Madison, Wisconsin, and perused the farm shop for their vegan soups, and fresh-plucked veggie. Before we left we got a cinnamon honey latte made with goat's milk because why not? It might have been the best non-alcoholic beverage I've ever had and that's coming from a person who has a thing about milk. I don't drink it. It grosses me out. Nasty nipple juice... not for me. But I can't deny that I had a hard time tearing myself away from this treat. The staff here welcomed us like family and it was just really nice to sit back at one of the picnic tables or under the white circus tent, or in the barn, or around the campfire and just exist. Little farm animals = Cuteness overload! Little human kids = Pardon me while I get this noose fitted 'round my neck and properly secure it to one of these majestic, romantically lit trees. Seriously, I think this is where every city and nearby suburban family brings their offspring to freak the fuck out. Parents sit on the sidelines sipping suds while little Timmy and Sally scream, cry, put their grubby hands all over items in the Market, break shit, push each other and attempt to invade my personal bubble... But pizza! Oh.My.God.Pizza! Their Wood-Fired Pizza Nights aka Pizza Farm occur many Thursdays during the summer and fall from 5-9pm. It highlights their fresh, local ingredients atop perfectly cooked crust. The selection changes a bit depending on what's available that week. Candice G., Mark S., Laura N., Veronica X. and I split 5 pizzas. We got Traditional with tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil; Drop the Beet with beets and goat cheese (I think beets taste like dirt. I gave it a try and still feel the same. The veg-heads who like that sorta thing said it was great, so you'll have to take their word for it.); Pesto with fresh pesto sauce, feta and zucchini (this was my favorite and I'd like to try it with chicken next time); and a Build-Your-Own with zucchini and goat cheese. So much pizza! Leftovers for days! We arrived a little past 5pm (when they open) and there was already a long line, but the ordering process didn't take long and I snagged some goodies while Candice held our place. I bought two of their fresh, ginormous chocolate chip cookies and a glass bear jar full of Bron's Bees mint honey. While waiting, which took a while because each pizza is made fresh, we watched the magician distract (um, I mean entertain) the children for a bit, listened to some live music, and I took the opportunity to pet the donkey and goat that hang out together in a pen near the Market. Our group sipped goat milk lattes as we lounged on a Yelp tablecloth and soaked up the last rays of sunshine that evening. We were lucky that the weather remained very pleasant on the last night of Pizza Farm 2013. I could probably go the rest of my life without having to deal with that many children again, but I don't think I can go more than a year without that pizza and the hospitality of the employees at Heritage Prairie Farm. You gotta realize that this is a family-friendly place, so it's expected. Can't fault them for that. They sell local beer and wine, so... What is your idea of a magical night? Mine consists of: being with my husband, a pizza farm, sweet honey, crazy bats, a friendly donkey, an adorable goat, goat milk lattes, sweet friends, Indian summer temperatures, and a full Harvest Moon shining over fields of corn. A magician is cool, too. Not to be too specific or anything, but a magical night for me is something like that. How do I know? This magical night actually happened. Yep, my friends, you better believe it. When I saw Candice G.'s shining review of Heritage Prairie Farm, my farm-loving heart wondered why I hadn't heard about this earlier. I said two words to my husband, "PIZZA FARM," and marked the calendar for one of the remaining pizza dinners for the year. Last week Thursday, we navigated through terrible rush hour traffic (my husband's car nearly died ten times from the unusual heat and sitting in traffic way too long) to this little farm on the outskirts of the suburbs. We were a bit cranky, but once we arrived, the stress melted away as we soaked up the farm-y fresh air. THIS was worth the drive. After greeting Candice (of course she was there again for another pizza farm night!), we dashed off to order our pizza. My husband and I usually can't agree on pizzas (he wants loads of meat, I want loads of veggies), so we agreed to split a traditional pizza. The pizza is made in their barn-house brick oven and uses fresh and organic local ingredients -- some from the farm, and some from other places. It takes about an hour to make (the place was filled with people ordering pizzas). The pizza was so good. SO GOOD. SO FRESH. I'm salivating now, thinking about it. I also bought an iced cinnamon honey latte made with goat's milk. It. WAS. AMAZING. I drank it way too fast and was itching for another one right away. (It's probably a good thing I didn't get another one... I stayed up too late and another drink probably would have kept me up all night.) During the hour that we waited for the pizza, we wandered around to check out the farm. It's actually a really small farm but it's absolutely lovely. Fields take up half of the property, while the farmhouse, a barn, an outdoor eating patio, a grassy yard, a ceremony area (for weddings), a beautiful event tent, and parking covers the rest. Bees are kept somewhere too. We even found a little pumpkin patch with some huge pumpkins on the vine. A fire pit surrounded by white chairs is available for use as well -- the fields behind it are a great background. I could see myself sitting there with friends, drinking a beer and strumming a guitar with my shoes kicked off. But alas, I didn't have my guitar. And a family had taken over. Maybe another time. Finally, tucked in one corner is a little fenced area for a goat and donkey. The goat was being his usual goat self, but the donkey was the sweetest donkey I'd ever seen! And his name is Christophine! We fell in love with him. Heritage is definitely a little country escape near Chicago. It's peaceful and romantic (it's a popular wedding spot), yet very family friendly. Kids were everywhere and a magician was walking around. The magician didn't do anything awesome while we were there, but he did manage to entertain the children (oh my gosh, so many children) pretty well with some hypnotic spinning thing. Normally, places overrun with children kind of irk me, but I barely noticed them here. I was so mesmerized by my plant and food and animal surroundings that I kind of forgot about people. Oops? After we finished our pizza and the sun set, we stuck around a bit longer to visit the donkey again, watch the bats fly around, look around the store, and marvel at the moon. The store has a good selection of several different kinds of flavored honey (with samples). They also have some vegetables and meats for sale, along with books and gardening tools. I ended up purchasing a jar of cinnamon honey. YUM. Everyone at the farm was so friendly and knowledgeable. At the end of the night, some of the girls working there even let us wash our hands in the kitchen sink after having our hands covered with donkey saliva and sticky honey. We felt so welcome, almost like family. All in all, this place almost made me wanted to get married again just so we could throw a lovely wedding on the grounds. (Almost. I didn't see the point in divorcing my husband just to marry him all over again and spend more money in the process. Just visiting here with him is good enough.) PLEASE check this place out! It isn't too often in the 'burbs that you get to play and eat on a farm, especially a farm as magical as this one. This is certainly a hidden gem that needs to be uncovered! read more

Stopped here for their Wednesday pizza nights during the summer months. I'm so glad I pre-ordered our pizzas. We arrived at 6 PM and they were already sold out. And, there was nowhere to park on the grounds so we had to park a mile down the road. Not exaggerating. My Fitbit was pleased. Went to confirm our pre-order and was told it was a 2 hour wait. I understand that woodfire pizzas take awhile but maybe people that have pre-ordered should get priority? Not sure how to rectify that. Thankfully, the grounds are great for strolling and we indulged in some beverages. Precisely 120 minutes later, our pizzas were all we had hoped they would be. I had the green farm with plenty of obscure veggies and my husband had the red farm. He said he was glad the pizza was delicious after that long wait and then inhaled the whole pie within 10 minutes. I am saddened my tonight's experience. Before tonight, I was the biggest fan of Heritage Prairie Farm. I told everyone to visit for their unique experience and beautiful setting. But, tonight I felt hurt and confused. Our group of friends made a plan a couple of months ago to attend tonight's pizza night. Knowing the number of crusts is limited, we made special arrangements to get there promptly from different towns. The lot doesn't open until 4:45, so when we arrived at 4:30 we were more than content to wait. Unfortunately, the staff was not patient or polite about our desire to wait a few minutes. When I saw other people starting to park on the street and go in, I did the same. When I walked up to the entrance where tickets were being handed out, I was denied a ticket because, "only people in cars were being given a ticket." That was news to me. People behind us were given a ticket when we were basically turned away. All of this bothers me because we had only the best intentions, but we were not treated with kindness. Also, we had plans with other friends to visit again for a farm to table dinner (about $90 per person), but now that I've been treated so poorly I won't be back. I will bring my business to places that treat me with kindness and appreciation. And I would advise everyone else to consider how they want to be treated as a customer before they plan to visit HPF. FYI... Heritage Prairie Farm had a Facebook post with similar comments tonight, but they deleted it before most people would read it. read more

We had our wedding at Heritage Prairie Farm this past November, and had a great experience! Jennie was a dream to work with! She was very quick to respond to all of my emails, and was very helpful. Whether is was a question about the length of the dessert table, or a debate on fabrics, she was on top of it. They make you feel like you are the only wedding, and not like you are part of a place that just pumps out weddings every weekend. The food and cocktails were outstanding as well! Everyone raved about the food and the bourbon apple cider was to die for! We were pretty much given free range to customize the menu any way that we liked, which was nice. Our wedding was in the fall, so I loved how well that it went with the season. It was defiantly not your standard chicken and decorative potato! We were actually the last wedding of the year at Heritage Prairie, and were so worried that everything would be all barren and not look nearly as nice as the all of the pictures of the beautiful summer weddings. Yes, Mother Nature came through, and did a number on all the pretty greenery, but it was still beautiful and all the stress was over nothing. We used Heritage Prairie Farm last weekend for our wedding and we were so, so, so happy with how it went. Special shout out to Liz and Tina for helping everything run so smoothly and paying attention to even the tiniest of last minute details; I was so impressed with their service and thoughtfulness! Our wedding was fully vegetarian and almost fully vegan; I wasn't entirely sure it could be done but they did it! Not only did they do it, they were able to accommodate gluten free guests as well, and I had several of my traditional, meat eating guests come up to me and say that it was the best wedding food they've ever had. Not only was the food delicious, but the whole facility runs like a well oiled machine. During dinner at one point the cover had fallen off of my desserts; I noticed some guests eating them before they were served and so spoke with someone in the kitchen. The problem was literally fixed within a minute or two before I even got back to the tent! The day of the wedding really could not have gone better and that's all thanks to the expert staff at Heritage Prairie Farm. read more

Heritage Prairie Farm hosts a Wednesday night pizza dinner and I was in the area visiting so I went! We got there twenty minutes early and the gate was closed and did not open until 4:45 which was a bit annoying. So we had to wait on the side until the gates opened to park. Once you enter, you purchase as many tickets as you would like in exchange for pizzas which cost $15 each. Also, they sell a maximum of 200 pizzas and sell out quickly, so I would recommend coming early. I ordered three pizzas: the BBQ, Red Farm, and Simpleton. The BBQ pizza had smoked pork, coleslaw, cilantro, chihuahua cheese (white cheese that tastes like cheddar), and of course bbq sauce. The Red Farm pizza had Italian sausage, pepperoni, pickled red onions, mozzarella, shaved parmesan, and a tomato sauce. The Simpleton was just a cheese pizza. My favorite was the BBQ pizza because it had great flavor and the coleslaw was a unique touch to it. Also, I am used to eating BBQ chicken pizza, so the pork was a nice twist. We got picnic tables on the grass and had the band playing in front of us. The pizza night is very kid-friendly, more so a hang out place for families than having a nice dinner for two. Difficult wedding vendor to work with. Had a poor experience and would not recommend.

4.5 stars. I had a nearly flawless wedding at HPF last night. This place is truly a package deal. You get catered food that is actually palatable, incredible photo ops, wedding planners for the day-of that wrangle your vendors to make sure you don't forget anything, goats and a donkey, picture-perfect setting...guests said it was one of the best, if not the best, wedding they'd ever attended. We went to a food tasting for the venue and were a bit iffy on the food at first but Chef Brett really stepped it up at the end. Not only did he make a Mac and cheese recipe we requested, but he also went along with our requests for bread and cheese from outside vendors. The guests were raving. There is only one issue with this venue, which knocked it down a half a star. If this were fixed it would truly be perfect. And, it's the drinks. The drink master needs to be fired. Our Moscow Mules were essentially un-drinkable, the bartender either did not know how or could not make well mixed drinks (and we stocked the bar with the best spirits) and worst of all, we ordered many kegs of beer but I didn't see the varieties advertised anywhere. As a result, no one knew about them, and no one ordered craft beers. This was a waste of the oodles of money we paid for bar fare and while it was nice that no one at the wedding was inebriated, it would also have been nice to give them the opportunity, you know? With that little tweak, it will be impossible to book this place for weddings because it would be so perfect. Thanks HPF! read more

Farm, Pizza, Drinks, Magic, Music, Yum! Heritage Prairie Farm is a wonderful escape from the conventional restaurants of the burbs. It is a bit of a drive, which makes you feel like you are getting away but close enough that it does not take all that long to get there. I have only been there on Thursdays, which is pizza night, but I have not been disappointed. I have had their goat cheese, kale, and beet pizza the pesto pizza and the the margarita pizza. Each of them are very good but the pesto was my favorite. The beet pizza is unique and was great to try but I would easily pick the pesto over it. The farm has a nice vibe to it, there are veggies everywhere, a few animals, a bunch of places to sit and relax, and a nice fire pit. To order you walk into a little shop that has a oven in back. Inside the shop there are are a few other things for sale including; honey, goat milk, veggies and a few treats, including a s'more/brownie mash-up which was amazing! After a few minutes they send you a text and you can pick your pizza up around back, find a spot to relax and enjoy. On the farm they have all sorts of wonderful things going on besides the food. There is a bar that serves beer, wine, and some cocktails (most of which are local). There was a live band playing one time, slide guitar and all. Also, there is a magician doing tricks for kids but I have to say that he got me on the trick he did for us. On top of all that there is enough indoor setting to throw a big party! I'm completely annoyed at my last experience! I have been begging my BF to bring me here all Summer. He runs a business and is extremely busy this time of year. We finally agreed on tonight (8/19/15) for a pizza night. Let me just say this wasn't easy. He flew out of his office and we still were only able to snag the LAST 2 tickets for pizza. Long story short we were still excited and happy. We brought a blanket and were prepared for the crowd. We sat and sipped on some amazing wine and beer (and eventually lemonade) during the 1 hour 40 minute wait. They finally text me that my pizza was ready and when I picked it up...my order was wrong! I wouldn't normally care. Easy fix, right? Wrong! I kindly said to the woman...you gave me a white pizza and I ordered a red. She said "my ticket says white".... Ummm ok?? So 2 pizzas, wine, ice cream and misc snacks at $70 and we didn't even get what we ordered! To make matters worse the white pizza we were given instead of the red we ordered, we didn't like. The mushroom pizza was crazy heavy on garlic too! I had high expectations for this special night. The experience killed it! I wish I had cooked my man a meal at home and let him rest. I am a very forgiving person, but the poor attitude of the staff KILLED it for me! Very disappointing!!!! read more

Heritage Prairie Farms was the spot for a wedding I recently attended as a plus one. I was just going with a friend, so I went in with zero expectations. What I left with was quite the positive impression. Parking was a snap. We were early, but we easily found parking and walked toward the barn where the ceremony would take place. The grounds are gorgeous! So rustic and homey. I wish we would have taken the time to look around. We also missed the shop (that I think was open upon our arrival). I just have to go back to see what I missed. The ceremony was beautiful! Most of that was the sentiment, the special moments, the candles, etc., but the backdrop of the barn interior was lovely. Cocktail hour was held in the neighboring greenhouse. The setup was nice although getting to the actual bar proved to be a bit of a challenge until about halfway through. But the passed appetizers were awesome!!! I could have eaten those all night long! My favorite bite was a fried chicken bite with a lightly sweet sauce and micro greens. Soooo good! For dinner, we moved to a large, heated tent. Once inside, it didn't feel like a tent at all but rather like a grand reception area. There was plenty of room. The tables were spaced out nicely. Each table setting was unique and beautiful. The bar was easy to get to and the line moved quickly. Dinner was quite delicious! It was served family style and we tasted things like focaccia with a honey butter (not necessarily a match made in heaven, but independently both were scrumptious!), a field green salad with candied walnuts, panzanella salad, now tie pasta with pesto, amazing herb grilled chicken with rustic potatoes and carrots and a BBQ Berkshire pork. The traditional wedding cake was more of a hearty, country pound cake with a luscious frosting. It was fantastic! If I had to find something I didn't love, it was that our table was right next to a speaker and while that was awesome for hearing the speeches (which were so heartfelt and wonderful), it was a bit uncomfortable once the music started. I would love to attend another function here and would highly recommend doing so from a guest's point of view! read more

--update-- Heritage Prairie Farms has copy/pasted the same generic message to a lot of people today who wrote non-positive reviews about yesterday's event. Until yesterday, they received a couple/few reviews per month. Last night a handful of folks provided them feedback about the observations and attitudes witnessed. Today, a lot of people wrote 5 star reviews and they're back to a 4 star cumulative rating. I'm not making an accusation. I'm observing context and suggesting that if you're interested in them that you consider these things. To me, it seems suspect. Maybe they do have people coming to their defense, in which case, that's great--and different than my observations, which is also great; it's entirely possible that what i saw and heard from others (unsolicited over-hearing in the line) was with limited exposure. I have nothing against these folks and hope they figure out who they want to be and how they choose to operate, and how to set expectations with others while providing appropriate wayfinding and well-designed services. Enjoy! -- This would and could probably be great. If they weren't so over-the-top rude. We watched kids getting yelled at for playing near a tree or in the parking lot, and we heard plenty of conversations about how others were treated poorly on the way in. Totally get it; organizing this must be challenging. However, after years you adapt. And if you don't want people here, then just don't do it. We came to check the place out for a potential future function. We won't even be back for pizza. It was disappointing in so many levels where it didn't need to be. Sad Jessica on Brundige Rd(which is the rd the farm is on) left me a message interested in my "ideas". It's a really odd message and I don't get calls on my cell phone at 9:40 at night about people looking to learn more about my ideas and solutions. This just gets more comical by the minute. Sad people don't realize that google can trace a number. **People attempted to write reviews like this on the Facebook Page for Heritage Prairie Farms bUt Heritage Prairie Farms DELETED EVERYONES POST, in response their explanation on what/why happened today when people arrived at 4:20pm or later today***** Tried to attend pizza night- got there 10 min early and was told we could not enter the parking lot early, decided to park on a side street that was listed available parking and got yelled at by a Heritage Prairie worker so we moved to wait down another street. Got yelled at again f or waiting there for farm to open so we decided to try and pull into the lot 2 min early and were told we would not be able to pull in and wait for farm dinner to begin. After moving the car 4 times and then getting in a long line to pull into the lot at 4:50 we were refused a pizza ticket and told it was sold out. However - people behind us were given a ticket for pizza and going in. They are trying WAY too hard to make their overpriced average wood fired pizza a "novelty" by being jerks to the people who arrive early to play on the farm with their families. They are playing games to seem that they are more of a "trendy" item than they really are. Poor customer service-poor business model- trying to be the trendy "farm to table" when really they are rude and pathetic. Heritage farm ruined a family night to appreciate the farm to trying too hard to be a "hot commodity". Good luck farm- with this business model you will not succeed. We spent the night with our 8 friends on our patio- drinking wine and eating Lou Malnatis. Way more fun than eating in a stuffy farm of people trying to hop on the "farm to table"train. read more

We had an awesome wedding at Heritage Prairie Farm. We wanted to incorporate lots of time outdoors, a fun atmosphere for kids, great food - and this venue took into account all of those things. We loved our farm wedding and if we could do it all over again, we would choose HPF again in a second. That said, here are some things to keep in mind if you are making a selection for your dream wedding: The best things about this venue: -they set up a tasting for you couples early in the wedding season so you can try the farm's fare - take advantage of this -an overall beautiful setting and venue - and it keeps getting better as they upgrade landscaping, the tent, etc. -tons of amazing places to take pictures -great food (we received lots of compliments) -the staff is totally willing to work with reputable vendors -the staff is truly willing to work with you to make any of your crazy whims happen (and we had lots of them, some at the last minute) Things you should know: -Be in tune with the pricing structure -The food comes as a long family style affair which doesn't really work for the bride and groom who need to visit - you might want to consider asking for a plated dinner prior to the day of -If you have a bigger wedding, make sure you have considered enough stations for dessert, etc. so as not to have lines read more

My husband and I got married at Heritage Prairie Farm in August as well, and ditto all of Karis F's sentiments (review below)! TOP-NOTCH venue, staff & service. Jennie was nothing short of a god-send; a real asset to the farm, and furthermore to any couple's planning process! My husband is an artist and I'm a designer; we made a lot of things complicated for our wedding (antique headboard stawbale lounges, a custom built cigar bar, etc.), and Jennie welcomed our creativity, contributing solutions and assistance in pulling our ideas off every step of the way. Always personable, beyond helpful and consistently a total sweetie. Chef Nick. NICK!!!! What can be said about this guy!? He's the coolest and knocked everyone's socks off with his food the day of our wedding! No one could believe this was "wedding food". And we've been craving it again ever since (private throwback dinner for our first anniversary perhaps..?!). Planning with him was a breeze. He worked with our budget and unconventional vision, provided perfect suggestions and made it happen. "Satisfied" is an understatement. We didn't meet Brian in person (bar manager) until wedding day, but he too did a great job working with our [at that point, leftover] budget to put together a decent bar package. As soon as we met him, we loved him. His cool & confident demeanor combined with impeccable service sensibility helped to create a rocking party. We had two different bar set-ups (remote & main), both were clean and well-stocked at ALL times. Greatness! And I'm guessing our point person that day was "Sean" as well..? Whomever he was (sorry, forgot your name because I hadn't met you until that day, and when I did I was frenzied with setting up for the wedding!), you were so attentive and helpful. It was those little moments like when you handed us bottles of water while we raced around sweating, trying to get the final touches up - genuinely appreciated. And the farm itself! We chose this venue in the middle of winter. We were blown away when we returned in Spring to begin our planning with Jennie. Their attention to detail was obvious. Simply beautiful. The gardens were so vibrant and healthy, the lawn is well-maintained, the porch of the house was decked out with huge ferns, and the gorgeous 5-point tent was impressive and sharp. They had planted the perfect combination of flowers and tall grasses by the pergola where we planned to get married. This made for lovely photos. It's the details, you know!? And the honey!! YUMMM! We opted for raw honey favors & our guests were raving about how amazingly tasty it was. THE BEST! We were actually sad to say goodbye to some of these folks after the wedding. We even took pictures with many of them! We were encouraged to keep in touch and come back to visit. Just a nice feeling. My husband and I HIGHLY recommend Heritage Prairie Farm, not only as a wedding venue, but everything they offer (pizza nights, farmer's market, etc!). We are considering joining their CSA program next Spring. They are just awesome. And it's great to be able to say this about the place where we had our wedding! #win read more

Perfect wedding! My husband and I got married at Heritage Prairie Farm in August. Our guests could not stop gushing about the farm, the food, the staff. So many people said it was one of the best weddings they've been to - and most of this was due to the farm! The planning experience was very organized but not overly rigid or overwhelming, which I appreciated. Jenny (the farm's wedding coordinator) was very responsive and great to work with. We loved talking to Nick about the menu. He really crafted a menu that was tailored to us and our families. We had our rehearsal dinner at the farm as well, and it was a lovely evening. Everyone loved the salad, pizzas and dessert. The day of the wedding went off without a hitch. Having the farmhouse for our family and wedding party all day really made everything so easy. The staff was so organized and worked so hard. Most importantly, they made our guests feel welcome. Sean was our point person that day for the reception and he was always asking me and my husband and our families and wedding party if we needed anything. He did such a great job! The guests enjoying being able to make S'mores by the bonfire, play games on the lawn, dance, or just sit and chat. And the food... amazing! People were raving about it. We had a wide variety of cultures and culinary palettes to please, from vegetarians to serious foodies to people who don't like "fancy food." So many people commented on how good everything tasted and how original the dishes were. My dad even liked the grits, and he's hated grits his whole life. The pourover coffee bar was a big hit, too. Overall, this was such a great experience start to finish. We will always have great memories of the farm and the staff who make it a special place. read more

We had our wedding at Heritage Prairie Farm on 8/20/16 and although the weather was not on our side in the beginning, the wedding and reception were perfect beyond words. Melisa helped walk us through every step of the way leading up to our wedding day and exceeded our every expectation on our wedding day by making sure no detail was overlooked. Her calm and warm personality kept us cool and collected during some of the more stressful weather-related issues that came up just before the wedding. Our guests are still talking about the beautiful and ridiculously delicious dishes chef Brett prepared for the wedding as well as the elegant space and beyond-friendly staff. We cannot say enough about our experience with HPF and can't thank everyone at HPF enough for making our day simply perfect. read more

Went to Farm Dinner on Thursday 13 September. Lovely location. Big line for drinks that took about 20 mins upon arrival. Need more help at bar to start. I have one major observation. For $85 everyone had to use the same one plate for all courses. When you have a 'soup' that wasn't really a soup more like a slad with lost of dressing. Hen. Then a not very nice whitefish (which strangely was the last course before dessert) both your plate and silverware were swimming with, and dirty from,several mixed courses. Everyone on the table commented on how unpleasant that became. There may have been 140 folk in the tent but at that price I expect fresh plate and even (as every country except USA does) fresh silverware from meat to fish. Spoiled a nice evening. Three stars for the service and atmosphere and pre dinner drinks. read more

My husband and I were married here back on September 21st, 2013 and what an experience. I know I know, I'm maybe partial because this is where I was married and it was my wedding day, etc, but wow. Everyone still talks about our wedding. The food is amazing, seriously, AH MAZING. Part of the reason we even wanted to get married here in the first place was knowing we weren't serving our guests cold banquet food. We like to eat, food was important to us, and HPF DELIVERED. The atmosphere is obvious. You're surrounded by nature, what's not to like? It's also basically a blank canvas for a couple to just be themselves and infuse who they are into the day's ambiance and decor. They gave us lots of freedom and lots of suggestions as to what works and what didn't. Jennie was also a revelation. We had started working with a nameless employee who is now longer an employee with the farm when we booked our wedding date and he was a mess. Jennie helped us get everything cleared up and was incredibly helpful throughout. She is incredibly organized and on top of her sh*t, which I always appreciate in anyone who has "planner" in their job title. She asked our opinion on literally everything and anything, and if I turned back to her and asked "what has worked best in the past?" she had advice to offer. They thought of pretty much everything, including some awesome heaters in the tent for the chillier fall evening. Free s'mores pit? Yes please! Customized food menus to reflect your taste? Amazing. Adorable setting and incredibly staff? Yes and yes. Seriously, no complaints, you should probably book your wedding here and let me be jealous of you forever that I'm not getting married every year and like, do it now. read more

Heritage Prairie Farm is a literal DREAM venue. We booked this venue in February 2019 for an October 2020 wedding. My husband had been to a wedding there a few years ago and still remembered how amazing the food was. Since food was a top priority for us, we booked without even touring it (they only had a few fall saturdays left and didn't want to miss out!). This venue is so unique. You get the cute farmhouse to get ready in. You don't need to leave the grounds to get seriously amazing photos. You can opt for the chef to prepare you a farm to table lunch that was seriously amazing. My bridesmaids are still talking about the grilled cheese! There are a ton of decorations that they let you use, including table numbers, signs, antique furniture, lawn games, candle holders, etc. They have a fire pit to stay warm and roast smores. The sunset view from the fire pit is breathtaking. The farm animals make for such a cute photo op and entertainment for the kids. Make sure you have your florist make a greenery bouquet to feed the goats! There are several areas to have your ceremony. The pergola outside is a no brainer, but the barn is also beautiful in case of bad weather! Again, the FOOD is what sells this venue. We had at least 15 guests (out of 50) tell us it was the best wedding food they had ever eaten. We served the roasted chicken with veggies, beef tenderloin, bacon brussel sprouts, roasted potatoes with cheese sauce, a goat cheese salad, and a focaccia bread with honey butter. Everything was amazing, the beef tenderloin melted in your mouth. You can't beat in house catering, and this is the best of the best. We chose a fall cider margarita and Lynchburg Lemonade as our signature drinks for cocktail hour. They made them so cute with the herb garnishes and rimmed glasses. Again, we got so many compliments on the drinks. About halfway through planning, COVID hit and turned our wedding plans upside down. Our 250 person wedding had to change to a 50 person wedding. HPF was so great throughout all of the uncertainty and stress of recreating our wedding. I want to give a HUGE shout out to Shannon, the venue coordinator we worked with for most of planning. She was always there to answer questions and replied within a day or two. Her job is definitely not easy, especially dealing with all the recent restrictions, and she always did such a great job with a smile on. The day of the wedding she made everything run so smoothly. She set up all the decor, both the venues and our own, perfectly. She made sure all the vendors were situated and taken care of. She also checked in with us periodically to make sure everything was going well. We can't thank Shannon and the rest of HPF's staff for making our micro-wedding a dream come true. Everyone loved the venue so much, especially now during COVID, since there is so much space to spread out and be outside if you'd like. I wish I could relive the day over and over, but at least I have the cutest pictures from the farm to remember forever! Thank you to HPF! And if you're looking for a romantic, rustic venue that has a ton of amenities, go here! They made planning a breeze. read more

This is one of my family's most favorite places to go for Wednesday night "pizza nights on the farm." The woman who runs it is consistently rude, I get yelled at to stay in my car until they allow you to get in line, every week is a different time that they allow you to get out of your car, and the pizzas sell out before they tell the public they are even open. But the pizzas are amazing and the atmosphere is beautiful. It's a summer tradition to come here at least 3 or 4 nights. I even had my son's birthday at one of these. It's been worth the weird vibe that is given during the first 30 minutes of the event every week. Then tonight on Facebook they posted that to punish their loyal customers, they will only be making 150 pizzas and not 200 because they're sick of complaints. This was absolute flip off to the hundreds of families every summer who come out and deal with alllllllllll the nastiness because we still love the event. This was a COMPLETELY childish and unprofessional way to conduct business. I am sad to say we will not be back this year and this place needs to seriously consider who they are entrusting with their customer service because I personally know dozens upon dozens of irate people who refuse to go here anymore after tonight's antics. I am on a very limited budget, but I spend a lot of money over the summer here because it's always been worth it. Not anymore. Please get a new face and voice of this farm because the one you have now should not be dealing with the public in any manner. read more

We got married at Heritage Prairie this Sunday. As I am writing this I have tears in my eyes just thinking about how beautiful everything was. This was my dream wedding, and the wonderful staff at HP made my dream wedding a reality. Melisa was wonderful, and so attentive the day of and leading up to our wedding. She really put all my worries at ease! It rained during our ceremony and the staff at HP quickly moved everything into the barn. Melisa saw a break in the rain and rushed us to the barn before it started raining again seconds later. Which saved my hair and make up haha. Looking back at some of the photos my friends took, I am so grateful it rained during our ceremony because the barn was just magical. They had champagne waiting for us as we excited the ceremony, which was so nice because and gave us a special moment to share with our wedding party. The food was amazing, and my friends and family kept commenting on how it was the best food they have ever tasted at a wedding. There were so many beautiful little details that were added as well. It was hard to take it all in. I could go on and on how beautiful this venue is, but it is really hard to put it all into words! I highly recommend HP for your wedding. The venue is beyond beautiful and the staff works really hard to make your day perfect. Thank you to everyone at HP for all that you did for us on our wedding day.
