I came here because it was an Allstate certified shop, but I will continue to come back here for the characteristics listed previously. My car was sideswiped a few weeks ago and the guys at Waters fixed it all up in two days. They washed and vacuumed my car and even fixed some of the dents and scratches on other parts of my car! I am amazed. Lastly, I had left a bunch of valuable items in my car by accident and of course they were not taken. I feel bad for even worrying about them now! I would never take my car anywhere else for body repairs. A friend recommended Waters Auto Body years ago when my Honda needed work from a fender bender. The estimate here was significantly lower than two other neighboring shops, and the work was first rate. Several years later, I came in because I wanted to sell my car and remove a few dents so it'd go at top dollar. Jim told me it wasn't worth the cost because my car ran great and was clean on the inside -- the minor scrapes wouldn't drive down the cost. Imagine that, someone turning away work. This morning I took my car in because someone had hit me in a parking lot and left me with front wheel well damage. It was affecting my passenger door and also my turn radius. Jim straightened out the dent with his bare hands, made sure the wheel wasn't affected, re-aligned the passenger door, rubbed off the paint from the car that hit me, and tucked in the plastic cover that was hanging from the wheel well. My first Yelp review. Just had to. Welcoming, friendly, honest, inexpensive, fast, professional! I went to 7 different auto body shops to get quotes for my broken bumper/tail light. Jim at Waters Auto Body was by FAR the most friendly and welcoming. Spoke to me with respect and took what I had to say into consideration, and answered me honestly about my opinions as to what needed to be replaced and what we could cut corners with (considering I was paying out of pocket). He didnt try to shove a bunch of expenses down my throat, he gave me options. In comparison to the other 6 places, Jim's quote was on average $400 cheaper than the competition. When I gave him the go ahead, he had the parts in very quickly and did his best to negotiate aftermarket prices with the Honda dealer. He was flexible with me on the dates to leave my car there, and had my car done quicker than expected, looking beautiful and freshly washed! The upper trim metal where the top of the hatch meets the roof on my SUV was bent down and water from the car wash doused everything. I surveyed about five different auto body places in Culver City and their prices ranged from $160 to $500. Jim took a look and told me he would bend the metal back and replace a corner bumper piece that I brought in for free. The work took less than a half an hour and the THEN I brought in the shocks that hold up the back hatch and he installed them for free as well. I'm not saying he will do this for everyone who comes in, but he is a really nice and authentically real person who won't rip you off just to make a buck like some of the glossier auto body places around. Jim's place is mom-and-pop, he's easy to deal with and his work is impeccable. Waters Auto Body was extremely helpful and friendly. I needed my side view mirrors replaced; I already purchased the replacement mirrors elsewhere and just needed someone to screw them in. I called them up to ask about mirror replacements and the man on the phone (I think it was Jim) was super friendly and told me to just bring it on by and he would take a look at it. I brought my car in to get a pretty big dent fixed after someone hit the front bumper in the parking lot and just took off . This body shop is a real find. This is the third time I had to have body work on a car and, as before, after checking out some others, I took my car back to them. Why do I keep coming back? Because 1) When I talk to Jim, he always comes across as organized, professional and honest. He's businesslike and never impatient or evasive about answering my questions. 2) Without fanfare, work starts soon after the insurance adjuster has been by and my cars are done when promised. 3) Jim calls me with updates while my car is in their shop. 4) They do nice work at the agreed upon price. No games, like calling the adjuster again in an effort to drive up the price, while the customer waits for their car to be ready. So, on the advice of a friend, I took it to Jim at Waters to get a third opinion. That was the single BEST thing I could have done. Waters beat both prices. Highly recommend Jim and the team. Came here for a broken side mirror (due to vandalism). They did a quick and excellent replacement job, and even cleaned my filthy car. Jim was so incredibly awesome and nice! Someone had hit-and-run my car. It completely scraped the side of my passenger door. I was really nervous about having to pay for the damages myself. I went to Jim to get an estimate on the damages. He told me he wanted to try something really quickly. He grabbed a towel with some liquid on it, and was able to remove my scratches completely!!! I am from South Carolina, so I didn't really know a good mechanic in Los Angeles. Someone sideswiped my car, so my insurance agency suggested Waters Auto Body. I just bought a new (used) Lexus sedan in very pristine condition. I made the mistake of not pulling the car into my garage all the way and the garage door nicked the bumper when it closed. I was very upset, needless to say. That same day, I started researching local auto body repair shops on Yelp and decided to give Waters Auto Body a try. Jim took glance at my bumper and offered me two alternative approaches to repair; since the scratches were on the bumper, inevitably, there may be other potential events the bumper may be exposed to as the car ages. So Jim actually suggested the scratches be covered with matching touch-up paint instead of removing, repainting and reinstalling the bumper which, given my insurance deductible, I would have had to pay for. Jim offered to look around the shop for the touch up paint and invited me back and applied the paint by hand to cover the scratches. He even gave me the small bottle for any future issues. Very customer oriented, practical approach and response to resolving my small issue. Hopefully, I won't have to use Jim's services in future, however, if you are in the market for auto body repair, I highly recommend Waters Auto Body. read more

A neighbor placed a vase on my car's hood (don't ask me why because the car is parked properly within my own spot) and ended up scrapping the paint. It is a brand new Volvo with less than 7K miles on the odometer. I originally took the car to another body shop and was quoted a 5-day repaint job costing $1,500. After taking the car to Waters, they suggested that we try spot treatment first. If it's not successful then we can consider repainting. As they were busy at the time, Jim said they would call within the week. Lo and behold, a couple days later, the phone rang and he offered to fix the car for free on the same day. I went and after about 90 minutes, the big scratches were completely gone and any visible damage reduced to barely noticeable even when you look hard. I think the technician who did the job was Benito. Such a good job. I felt compelled to write this review and commend Waters for their integrity and professionalism. As you know it's like hitting the jackpot whenever you can find someone like Jim in his trade. I've taken my car several times to this body shop over the last few years (but being a regular customer at a body shop is not good thing). Although the owner, Jim, is very nice, I am unhappy with the job his shop did on my car. My car door needed to be replaced and the paint matched. He said he blended the paint on either side of the door, but he didn't. I could tell and was in fact glad because where he did paint, on the door, the paint job was not good. There was a faint pattern in the pain, like an orange peel. There was also a hair that had dried into the paint. I was so disgusted since it is a brand new car. I didn't want him to mess it up more, so I will have it repainted somewhere else. I would never use Waters Auto Body again. read more

I asked "when ?", Jim said right "right now", I asked "how much?", Jim said "no problem-keep your money." And...about 3 months ago, I was in an auto accident in which my Mercedes GL suv suffered extensive body damage. 8 days in Jim's shop, and the Mercedes was like new - - after I drove it home, I spent almost an hour inspecting the area of repairs for any inconsistencies in alignment of body panels, paint matching, etc., and could find none. One last point : I now live more than 40 miles and more than an hour's drive away from Waters Auto Body shop, but I still drive to the shop whenever I need auto body repairs to my vehicles, because I am too meticulous when it gets to the care of my vehicles to trust anyone else other than Jim.
