I found this shop near me on Yelp and brought my car in for an oil change. It was reasonably priced at $85. I also had my tires rotated, which was an extra $25. They do not honor the Yelp check-in (I'm told they didn't approve this deal?) but the manager gave me a discount to compensate for this. I feel like they're trustworthy people and they do good work. Ill try and make this to the point and brief. This shall be a first for me. On 01/02/24 at 8:00 AM, I dropped my vehicle off to fix a power steering leak that was visually diagnosed by Service Advisor Frank Garcia as a return hose to be replaced. Frank gave me a verbal estimate of $178. A couple of hours passed and was called that estimate has increased due to part being more...? Hours passed and by 4 PM I picked up car paid $286.65. Assuming leak was fixed. Tragically leak started up 2 days later at a more astonishing rate. Aware of the 12000 miles 12 month warranty, I brought it back on 02/06/24 at 8:00 AM was told by Frank to come back at 10:00 to be diagnosed properly. Left car at the said time just to have it sit there and never call me. I called a couple of times and by 3:00 PM Frank said they would finally look at it. Still no call so by 4:00 PM I had the unpleasantry of meeting Franks coworker Ron who announced his 36 years of expertise in the feild. KEEP THAT IN MIND. Great so getting a proper invoice of estimate and diagnosis should be no problem, well the clowns printed me an estimate invoice for the initial crap job they did for me on 01/02/24. Photos attached. Ok, let me start this with.... I really don't write too many reviews, unless there's a serious need to. In this case, I really needed to sit down and write this. Quality Automotive is run by a man who really loves cars. Now, you can love cars... and you can REAAAALLY LOOOOVE cars. Ronnie is the latter. You can tell by his work ethic, and how he carries himself. I have a classic, a 1965 Shelby Cobra and really won't trust the car with anyone because its one of the most iconic cars I've every had, and I've had a whole bunch of exotic cars. This is the one I'm gonna keep until my arthritis won't let me to hold the clutch anymore. I had just bought the car, and it had a ton of trouble, it was leaking fluids from just about every connection, was missing parts like the PCV valves, smelled like gasoline, wouldn't start right, would keep running after you turned the key off, and shook like leaf if you went over 50 mph with it. I gave it to Ron and said do whatever needs to be done to make this thing works right. He quoted me about $3k... maybe more to get it done. Alright, now ... let's fast forward a few weeks... and I get the car back, and it drives like it just came out of a brand new dealership. So at this point I'm bracing myself, and saying to myself, it's probably gonna cost more than he quoted me, because he did a bunch more stuff on it than what we originally talked about, and trying to convince myself not to get surprised, and that it'll be worth it in the end..... Here's where the story twists. Earlier I mentioned.... Ron told me about $3k to get it all done, and he did a bunch of extra stuff that wasn't on the list. So I was expecting it to cost a little more. When all was said and done, he charged me a little over $2k for everything. Yeah..... How often does that happen in this day in age, you pay less than you expect, and get more for you paid for. Needless to say, Honesty and integrity is a trait very few have in this day in age. Ron's been doing this for 30+ years, and I can tell he really does it because he wants to. I'm pretty damn certain he could have retired by now and closed up shop, sipping margaritas in Mexico somewhere. To bring it full circle, he does a damn good job because he REALLLY LOOOOVES cars. At this point, if I take my car to him, I just drive up front and leave the keys in the car and let him take it when he wants. I don't need any paperwork or quotes because the man is honest. They are amazing! Simone had knocked over my motorcycle breaking my kickstand and rear mirror. I drove it to the nearest mechanic which happened to be them to see if they could help and to make sure it was safe to ride. Even though they don't work on motorcycles, they brought it in, fixed my kickstand and found a mirror on eBay for me to order. I asked to pay them and they politely declined. YOU CAN'T USE THIS SHOP. The caused thousands of dollars in damage to my car, charged me for parts they didn't use and literally stole hundreds of dollars in cash from me. I brought my 1987 Cadillac in for a tune-up. They dramatically overcharged me for parts yet didn't even change the air filter. So they most likely didn't change the fuel filter. $670 for 3 small fan belts and $5 spark plugs. They were also supposed to change the engine valve covers which were leaking a little. But . . . they put on the wrong size. The first time I took the car out, I had a puddle of engine oil under my car. I brought it back and Frank said it was just the old oil that had to burn up. (because they didn't clean up after themselves.) Second time I took my car out, same thing. I told Frank it was so much oil that I had to clean it up with a beach towel. He repeated that it was just the old oil that had to burn up. "It might even smoke a little." Indeed it did smoke. The third time I took the car out, I barely made it home. I checked the oil and it was bone dry. Not a drop of oil. If I had driven the car for another few minutes the engine would've seized and the car would've been totaled. Then Frank tells me he didn't have the right size valve covers. And he couldn't tell me that the first time I told him I had a puddle of oil under my car??? Soon after I was having real trouble accelerating. I asked him if it could be the air filter or fuel filter and of course he lied again about changing them. He made an adjustment to the carburetor and there was a decent improvement. He charged me $220 for something that most mechanics do for free. But no big deal. Except . . . soon after he tells me I need a completely rebuilt carburetor. SO WHY DID I JUST HAVE TO GIVE HIM $220 TO ADJUST IT???? They were also supposed to fix a coolant leak. They didn't. A few months later . . . BLOWN GASKET. I think I had to pay $2,400 and it took 4 months. Frank also insisted that I had a "short" somewhere and he needed to locate it. I TOLD HIM . . . that it was the amp for my subwoofer which I had removed. I said I just needed to disconnect it from the battery. He insisted it was something else. So I let him look at it. Long story short . . . it was the amplifier that just needed to be disconnected from the battery. He still charged me $150 I trusted them because I lived a few doors down from them and they're always working on classic cars. That fools a lot of people. They are straight up thieves. I gave Frank $480 for parts to rebuild the carburetor and replace my ac compressor. He took the money and avoided me for a year and a half. When I finally had enough and asked for my money back in writing . . . Ron Morgan had someone posing as a lawyer threaten to call the police on me for harassing them. After 3 months and 3 letters they finally returned my $480. But they refused to take any responsibility for the thousands of dollars in damage done by their mechanic. Final verdict still remains the same, if I could give this place a negative rating I would. This place is untrustworthy and disrespectful. They are the mechanics that further exemplify how crooked this industry can be on and prey on people who may be clueless about cars. They are the mechanics that take advantage of the situation. These guys ripped me off so badly. Charged me $600 to replace my front and rear brake pads, one rear brake rotor, as well as resurface the other three rotos. My brakes went out after only a year and a half (15,000 miles). What's weird is that the rear brakes went out before the front ones, when they are supposed to last twice as long as the front. They took serious advantage of a young lady, and I highly recommend avoiding them. Either they are malicious, or really bad at what they do. I went back to ask them if they could help me out since my brakes went out so soon after having them done there and they just laughed at me. So terrible. Avoid at all costs. Plus, they are always backed up. They have your car for weeks. Absolutely terrible. read more

I got really scared because the man started to follow me and he was clearly unwell and unstable. Lucky for me, Ronnie was there and he went out of his way to make sure I was safe and reassured me that he was there to help. If I ever need any car repair, I will definitely use this shop. Terrible, irresponsible, and low quality service. Why do you want to go here? I could die on the freeway because of brake deformation. Now my car is not operating properly. The mechanic misdiagnosed my car and failed to repair the right part, which caused extra cost, made the car worse, and broke my brake during repair. I have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan Base for 3.3 gas. Before February 28, 2019, I found that my car's engine got very hot and needed to add water to cool it down every week. On February 28, 2019, I went to Quality Automotive to fix this hot engine problem. The mechanic (or owner) inspected my car and performed pressure test and said that I needed to come back for re-inspection on the next day. On March 1, 2019, we went to the shop. The mechanic reinspected the car and said we need to change a radiator because he diagnosed that water was leaking from radiator tank. I said there's no water leaking as my observation. But he insisted that he was right. I and my son who translated English for me asked the mechanic to reconfirm whether this could completely be fixed if we change the radiator. After his confirmation, I agreed to replace the radiator. At the evening of the same day, I let my son ask the mechanic if he finished repairing. He said it was done. He eventually charged $490, saying that the shop provides one year warranty. I made the payment through credit card (but later held the payment due to this dispute). He gave me the car key. So I found my car outside the shop where my car was almost abandoned in the far place. When I checked, the car's hot engine problem still existed. I tried to talk to him right away but they called it a day and left. I needed to use my car for work, so I drove the car from March 4, 2019 to March 6, 2019, and found that the hot engine problem got much worse than before replacing the radiator. I needed to add water every single day. I called the mechanic, and he let me come back to the shop for re-inspection. Then, he told me that I should replace the whole engine motor part, which costs $1500 plus labor fee, total approximately $2000. I did not expect the price would be that high. Also, I was very angry for his misdiagnosis that caused extra charges on the radiator and the engine repair. It made me totally lose trust on them. So I forced myself to drive the car to home. I had a hard time to operate my car on March 7, 2019, but I went to the Malibu for my work. At night, my wife and I were coming back home. When I exit freeway and almost got home, the brake suddenly stopped working at all. It was very deadly if we were on the freeway. On March 8, 2019, I called Advance Auto Clinic to repair my car's brake. They repaired my brake and said that on the brake hose part, someone touched and caused the deformation of the metal part of the brake. It eventually damaged the rubber brake hose to have brake oil leaking. When the brake oil leaked completely, the pressure was not enough and it automatically failed my car's brake function. Quality Automotive was most likely the culprit. The brake repair charged me $360 on March 9, 2019. Other mechanics at other Auto shops said the problem was just on the engine, not the radiator. When I talked to Quality Automotive again, the mechanic had explanations using technical terms but fully denied his negligence on the diagnosis and repair service. So now my car's hot engine problem is still very serious, and I basically can't drive my car. Pouring coolant is not helpful; water is dried so fast; and engine easily gets hot. I already paid $860, and still have to fix hot engine problem by spending more expenses. I also can't stand Quality Automotive's irresponsible responses to my complaint through BBB when it failed to perform its duty to fix it. This is my first and last experience with this business. After complaining through BBB (better business bureau), I consider filing a small claim lawsuit against this business in the LA Superior Court. I will update my review when there's any progress. I will share how I file a lawsuit if my lawyer does not represent me this time. read more

OMG! This operation is a high risk and flakey, as they took my money and applied it to a towing charge that was covered by my insurance, and then came back to me for the deficit! It wasn't even their own towing company! If I had the time I would take them to the DMV repair section. They wouldn't finish the work claiming a lien of $500.00 and would not release the car after I came up the towing bill, which the insurance company had already paid. They did not mention this when I signed the documents in the beginning. FIND ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP UNLESS YOU DON'T MIND IDIOTS. read more

Arrogant. Sloppy. And happy to mislead you. Let's start with the $950+ ripoff. A/c not working. Obviously a leak, because when freon was put in it worked, but only for a day or two. These guys insisted it was the compressor, valve and hose routing. They claimed to have checked for leaks but couldn't find any. $950+ later the a/c worked. For 1 day. The only reason we gambled on the $950+ repair was because had to leave for a cross-country drive that afternoon. We lost that gamble because chose these clowns. (Later, in NJ an honest mechanic found the leak.) The whole time we were there we were friendly and trying to understand what was happening with the repair since we were late on leaving for the drive. They, on the other hand, were rude and arrogant. "The less you talk with us the faster we work." Sorry we asked. They also installed an electrical power outlet, a switch and fix a dim taillight for $190. The power outlet wires were left exposed and hanging. We had to tape them up. They "fixed" the taillight by replacing the bulb. Still dim. Sloppy work. (We later got the dim taillight fixed in NJ for about $15. The socket just needed to be cleaned. This was the same mechanic that found the leak that Quality said wasn't there.) The Vettes and other classic cars give you the idea that they are craftsmen, and they may be, but we spent $950+ on some freon. Crafty craftsmen who know how to empty your wallet. read more

I love Ron!!! I used to have a 1959 Ford Fairlane Galaxie, and I took her to see Ron on recommendation from my dad (who is in the Street Rodder business). He has been servicing many cars in my family for many years now, not just the classics... I always take my junky 1991 Toyota for Smogging when needed (she's an old girl!). Not only is his work above-par (I never have had any problems), but he is a fair and honest man who will not rip you off! That in and of itself is priceless. Pros: They know there stuff. They're nice people. Cons: I took my 60's car in there multiple times. Rarely did they call me before starting the work. They would just assume that I would be ok with spending hundreds or sometimes thousands of dollars. If you have tons of money and just want to completely restore an older car then this shop might work for you. Also, Frank is very short on the phone which makes it difficult to communicate. They are also overpriced compared to other shops I have talked to to do the same work. read more

I have been going to Ronnie Morgan's shop for about 15 years. He is THE most honest mechanic I have ever met. When I first started going there it was just for things that were too complicated for me to do on my beloved 1969 Camaro. Now I have a new Chevy truck and I still go to Ronnie for everything, I make my son go there for his truck too. Ronnie and Frank insist on fixing things correctly, with factory parts, no crappy replacement stuff. When you go in there for the first time, don't be afraid of the collector and high-end hot rods in there, they can do work on ANYTHING. I have seen some strange cars in there over the years (like a Lincoln Ranchero, one of five). If you know someone that has a high-end collector car, you know that they don't just let anyone work on it. Ronnie has an excellent reputation. It does not get better than Quality Automotive. When you move around a lot, it is hard to establish relationships with people you rely on, for me that comes to two people, mechanics and barbers. I was hesitant to take my car to Quality Automotive. The reviews looked great but I have the absolute worst luck with cars and just service in general. Frank broke down how they operate at Quality, and when I handed my keys over to him, any feelings of doubt or hesitation soon went out the window. In the end, Quality Automotive fixed the problem with my car and gave me the satisfaction of knowing that I have a reliable, reputable, expert working on my car whenever the time comes. I took my car in for a minor mechanical problem and they spent a week looking at it; they thought they had identified the part that was problematic but instead of replacing it, they inspected it and found it to be fine, and returned the car to me without charge. Even though the problem ended up not being fixed (and apparently it is a common mysterious issue for my make and model), I felt very well treated. read more

I FOUND MY NEW MECHANIC!!! WOO HOO The men running this shop are wonderful. I recently bought a car from my old mechanic in Arizona and took it to a different auto shop on Sunset Blvd. for a new brake light and an oil change. The men at the shop in Hollywood not only did not fix my bulb (even though I paid for it) but they also proceeded to hand me a list of all the things I needed to fix on my car. (ie: i was getting shafted). I asked a local LA woman for a referral to a mechanic and she sent me to Quality Automotive. (she has been going there for 25 years). They were amazing. Not only did they fix my brake light (FOR FREE) but they also told me to contact my car dealer to find out if I was due for any required maintenance---(and were sensitive to the fact that I am a fool and didn't think to do so in the first place). They checked out my car and validated my assumption that the other guys were trying to get money out of me. These are good, honest, hard-working people. They started on my car right away, called and texted me when my car was done, and are genuinely respectful dudes. GO HERE (especially if you are a fool when it comes to cars). Just signed up for Yelp just to give Frank and the boys at Quality Auto some props. I have a 03 Cobra that needs a good shop and this place is my place. My heater core just broke on NYE - so i went to the SVT forums to read about my symptoms, how to fix, and how much it might cost. Ppl from all over the country w Cobras said this would be a 500-600 $ job, mainly bc it involves removing the dash. I was going to tow it down to the OC and go to GTR, but found this place 7 miles from my place on the westside. I couldnt be more pleased. First I call Frank and tell him my symptoms and what I think it is. he gives me a quote, and i say im going to shop around and get back to him. He was totally cool. Sure enough, i couldnt get a good quote. Everyone, besides GTR was telling me 1200$ +. So i call Frank back and tell him id like to bring the Cobra to him. He said, bring it first thing Monday morning (which was MLK day) and they were open at 730 am, boom! I was first impressed w the collection of cars they had in there. They had such a wide range of new slick ass Audis to a 56 Corvette....So i knew they would take care of my Cobra. He called me before doing any work and ordering any parts and the quote he gave me was only about 50 bucks more than what it was going to actually charge, which put me right in the middle of what the ppl on the forums were estimating. Got the job done pretty quickly (2 days) and picked her up on Wed. Frank also took the time to show me my old broken part and answered all my questions. He was also concerned w how well he did his job, and wanted to know if i had ANY problems. I had none :) So here goes a 5 star rating for Frank and Quality Automotive! I've been coming here for years. Over a decade now I would imagine. I started coming here because they deal with older cars and I have a 1981 Datsun that most folks don't know anything about. I trust them with it. That car is like my child and I wouldn't leave it just anywhere. They do also work on newer cars as I've taken my '99 Pathfinder in many times for maintenance. They don't rip you off or tell you something is wrong when it isn't. A trustworthy mechanic is hard to find. Having dealt with them for so long I can tell you that you do have to call and check up on status. They should be more on top of that but most shops I've been to in my lifetime are all like this. Don't know why that is but it definitely isn't an issue that's isolated to them. I will continue to bring my cars to Ron and Frank for as long as they stay open. read more
