Water's Edge is still the only place in Ventura where you can have a drink and watch the sunset over the harbor. 3p to 6p Happy Hour(s) offer nice bargains and tasty dishes. We love sitting on the deck in the sun and watching boats come in and out of the harbor. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Service professional and quick.

We really had such a wonderful time here. Out of all the places we could go for Thanksgiving after Grandma passed, this place truly felt like the proper getaway with their view, lights, buffet option for our family of picky eaters, and excellent service. Even after looking at other venues, this venue definitely had the best selection of food and the most quality in addition to their stellar location and ample parking. Our family had a wonderful time. I loved their salmon, Brussel sprouts, roasted veggies, gluten free brownies, and my mother loved their carved tri tip.

Had a great time with a party of 13 for a birthday celebration. The chef was accommodating to a vegan diet, they were able to make a vegan mushroom risotto and vegetable medley. The mushroom risotto was a tad salty but overall great paired with the vegetable medley. Others in the party seemed to enjoyed their meals as well. The view is beautiful at sunset, but the glare can be harsh depending on where you're sitting. The staff was kind enough to lower the shades to try and help. The service was great! Our server Nick, was amazing and attentive. He also helped us to come up with a birthday surprise, the staff came out and sang Happy Birthday with a dessert and candle.

My father and I always love coming here when we make the treck over from Thousand Oaks. He has been coming here for years, and I have just recently joined him. Solid spot with good food and an amazing view of the harbor. The staff is friendly and does a good job taking care of you. The food is always delicious, and recently got the Cioppino which was super good. We always have a few glasses of Chardonnay with our meal, and enjoy the harbor scenery. Cool spot that you won't regret coming to. Thanks for having us!!

I work right next to Water's Edge and recently brought my daughter to the office. She wanted chicken strips and fries, so we decided to try Water's Edge for the sake of convenience. I ordered a kids' chicken strip meal and a drink over the phone, but they didn't mention the total until pickup, which ended up being $19. I don't mind paying a bit more for convenience or quality, but unfortunately, the food didn't deliver. The Good: The fries were the highlight. Crispy, well seasoned, and overall really tasty (a little on the salty side, but still good). The Bad: The chicken strips were nearly inedible. All three pieces had undercooked batter that was wet and mushy, making the entire chicken strip unpleasant to eat. It was really disappointing, especially considering the price. For $19, I expected better quality. I might stop by again just for the fries, but definitely not for the chicken strips.

A CRAPPY EXPERIENCE The Mother's Day Brunch was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. The food quality was subpar and sparse. The presentation was not appetizing and the promised menu items not readily available. The lines were long to get into the restaurant and the flow for the buffet line not well thought out. The ambience was lacking and felt like a food service line at an aging Vegas casino. It seems that the idea of serving a brunch was money-driven and not mother-focused. I felt like I really let my wife down after talking up the menu items. Other Dads and Sons looked as miserable as I felt as I'm certain we all collectively realized we made a colossal mistake with this place. $350 that didn't include any alcoholic beverages could have been spent on a really nice gift for my wife. Upon leaving and walking through the crappy parking lot (literally - bird poop all over my car - had to spend another $25 to get the car cleaned) on top of paying a harbor parking charge. NEVER AGAIN!!

Had an excellent experience doing happy hour with a very large group of friends Thursday night! The service was excellent despite having a humongous group of 30. Everyone was served so quickly, the food was hot and delicious, drinks cold and tasty! All of the staff was so efficient and polite! Just awesome!

What a gorgeous place for a special dinner! We came for two birthday celebrations. I had the drunken noodles and the calamari and both were bland. Also tried the shrimp scampi and it tasted delicious. Service was slow but they did an exceptional job at making it a special experience for my bday friends. The cosmo martini and the view outside was definitely my highlight.

The food and pastries were amazing! Service was fantastic and the view was beautiful :)

Awesome meal! With a gorgeous view of the harbor. And thank you Grace for your attentive and friendly service! My husband enjoyed his chicken and waffles-said the chicken was a bit dry, need to master the recipe/dish. I LOVED my breakfast burger! Wagu beef (egg on the side) Their homemade buns are amazing! Cooked perfectly (well) as requested The bacon and quac were amazing! No greasy drips! Not a big burger - actually perfect size for me but for $17? This is the world we live in. Highly recommend!

17 checkins later, and I think as many menu changes, they finally made it to 5 stars for me. Always the perfect sunset viewing spot (one of the few restaurants in Ventura to have a sunset view), friendly service, a deck with heaters, plus good food choices, we have had happy hour with a group from 4 to 6 on our last two visits. The group arrived at different times, which the staff handled well. We ordered various appetizers in waves, and the food arrived hot and tasty. The best part was that our perfect cosmopolitans arrived quickly. The menu ranges from appetizers on happy hour to three pages of dinner options so I can find something new to try. I enjoyed my fish tacos, and everyone enjoyed their orders as well, including the mussels, salad, and the lumpia. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Trio of tacos got the thumbs up from one of the diners at the table.

The wife and I stopped by for lunch today with another couple. it was the first time for both of us. The verdict? Everyone's coming back! We had a really enjoyable time. The restaurant is spacious and bright and sits right on the water. Every table can be a view table, but we were seated by the glass and looked out at docked fishing ships and sailboats. It was a very relaxing place to eat. We were there for lunch, but I understand that you'll pick up sunsets in the evening. Service was prompt. Water was delivered right away and our server took a drink order from the bar. They have a decent selection of wines and beers, both bottled and on draft, as well as a full bar. We also ordered the shrimp lumpia to split, which came in eight pieces with a dipping sauce. They were piping hot and had good flavor. I also had a cup of the clam chowder, which was excellent. For entrees, my wife ordered the coconut shrimp and chips, which she really enjoyed. The whole table dipped into her fries, and all agreed that they were perfectly cooked. My SIL ordered the trio of tacos. They looked really good, and she said they were. I had the "breakfast salmon", which was a nicely cooked piece of salmon topped with a fried egg. It was very good. No issues, they take reservations, service was on point and the food was good. Add to that a great, relaxing harborside view and we will be back on a regular basis.

    Is there a children's menu?

I didn't see a happy hour menu for kids but they may have kids plates on their main menu. There are a couple kid friendly items in the Happy Hour menu. The pizza is good.

Save yourself the headache and eat somewhere else. -- We were told our wait would be approximately 15 minutes. It ended up being closer to 30. Once seated, things got even worse. We sat for roughly 15 minutes without anyone acknowledging our table and had to flag down two separate employees before we were assigned a server. Despite arriving over an hour before I needed to leave for a scheduled appointment, our food didn't arrive until approximately 11:35 AM. Spending over an hour at breakfast for a simple meal is unreasonable, especially at a resort restaurant where guests often have reservations and activities planned. Unfortunately, the food wasn't worth the wait. The chicken sausage arrived room temperature, and my pancakes were raw in the middle. Not undercooked--raw. After waiting over an hour for breakfast, receiving food that wasn't properly prepared was incredibly disappointing. As if that weren't enough, the restaurant somehow managed to charge our credit card twice while also posting the charge to our room. Resolving the error became an ordeal of phone calls, receipt photos, waiting for managers, and multiple follow-ups. What should have been a simple correction ended up taking a significant amount of our vacation time. The most frustrating part wasn't even the mistakes themselves--it was the lack of urgency in fixing them. Nobody seemed particularly concerned that guests were waiting excessive amounts of time, receiving improperly prepared food, or dealing with billing errors.

In Ventura's industrial area, the Cave is a nice, cozy restaurant that is hidden in the Ventura Wine Company shop. We were greeted by live music which made a lively atmosphere. They have the self vending wine machine with a decent variety of wines for all. I'm going to be honest - I did question the pour size. We ended up buying a bottle of wine at dinner instead and I'm pretty sure that was the economical choice plus it gave me peace of mind. I will say - the plating of the food is strange. Giant plates for small portions never really sits well with me. The kitchen's "thinly sliced" waygu steak was also off putting visually. The Jumbo Scallops w/Leek & Truffle Risotto ($46) is a must order. Scallops perfectly pan seared and that risotto I would eat by itself. The Lemon Chardonnay sauce was incredible. The Slow Braised Beef Short Ribs ($39) was okay. The meat fell apart as it should. The red wine sauce was okay but lacked depth. The creamy mashed potatoes were very good and seasoned perfectly. Wasn't mad that I tried it but would not order again. Wagyu Top Sirloin 12 oz. ($48) was very good despite the poor slicing. The creamy mushroom sauce was perfect to add some flavor but not overpower the protein. The Pepperoni Pizza ($18) was decent for my son. My daughter planned to order the Seafood Pasta until she saw all of her favorite things combined: Mac and cheese, bacon and pizza - the Mac and Cheese Pizza ($21) was honestly top notch. It wasn't overly heavy, the depth of flavor was great and it's extremely tasty. The spicy aioli was top notch. Overall, a good experience at the Cave. I recommend giving it a try.
