We had such a great stop at Dukes Beach grill. All the food was great, they have a huge menu that is sure to please everyone. We sat on the patio and it was such a fun vibe, they had board games, sports on the TV, and even water bowls for dogs. The staff was very attentive and helpful, we had a slight issue with another customer saying inappropriate things to our table and before we could even say anything the bartender noticed and handled the situation. We will definitely be back!

I live about an hour and a half from Ventura but I come to the beach here every week. This is my new, go to place. Friendly service, good size portions and value for the money, great Beach vibe, and food arrives quickly.

Casual, friendly place a walk away from the ocean with a small parking lot of the side and tasty food within. Place your order at the counter and in no time, a server will bring your meal to your table . Seating is either inside or if you so choose, you can also sit at the bar or the front or back areas. My friend chose a chicken bowl which had lots of fresh veggies and rice topped with teriyaki sauce. My hubby ordered an ahi poke bowl with rice, cukes, avo, scallions and carrots while I chose a seared ahi bowl. Food is delivered quickly and the employees are friendly.

Very friendly local beach bar in Ventura! Menu features all the comfort foods you would dream of! We started with a Ceviche Pacific snapper and shrimp marinated in lemon citrus juices, mixed with pico de gallo. Served with homemade tortilla chips & topped with avocado. My son ordered DUKE'S DOUBLE Double burger patties, double cheese, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, served on a Brioche bun with Duke's burger sauce. MyDIL decided on the Teri Chk Bowl Grilled chicken breast served with white rice, veggies, pineapple & teriyaki sauce. My wife decided to try a Cup of house Chili and Chicken Tenders Crispy fried chicken strips & fries with Honey Mustard sauce I went with the Chili Size Burger Served open face with house-made chili and cheddar cheese. It also came with fries! The meals were all amazing truly a comfort food place. All the staff here were warm and friendly you do order when you come in but I advise you if you're a party grab some menus and a seat and then go order! Also we ordered our drinks from the bar! This place is a beach bar & grill enjoy the comfortable atmosphere.

New England Clam Chowder in a bread bowl

One of my go-to spots whenever I come to Ventura, Duke's always has great food, especially the soups. During a two-day getaway trip, I came to Duke's twice....first having the New England Clam Chowder in a bread bowl, then later, a grilled cheese sandwich paired with tomato soup in a bread bowl. It's a very relaxing atmosphere, with an outdoor patio, and the staff, especially Clover, did a fantastic job!! Thank you, Duke's!! Until the next go-around!!!

My first visit to Dukes to enjoy a little lunch with a friend. The business has a lot of beach character. The staff were very nice and the food was great! There was so much to choose from. And we finished off the afternoon with a walk on the beach!

    - located just off the beach, this local spot offers very good food, sassy waitstaff and a Spotlessly Clean environment. The bacon mushroom burger is terrific (comes with homemade potato chips) as well as the chili verde stew. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any entree. We're lucky to have this joint next to the beach. if you want to order food, just order and pay up front then grab a seat. The bar is its own separate entity ...order and pay for cocktails/beer there. Offers outside seating for people and pets - about as "chill" CA vibe as you'll ever find :)

Looks great just disappointed at the price and small amount of French fries for said price. $25 for this

Tourist trap. When a restaurant raises prices they should also raise their quality. This meal is $25 and I had to upgrade to get fries or I'd just get chips service is decent. And food is still decent but just an another tourist trap with overpriced food.

This is a cool spot. We've always enjoyed coming in here! This was the first time we came when they had live music and the band was good and so was the sound! A lively bunch of what appeared to be regulars! Definitely look forward to coming back to enjoy some more live music here. Unfortunately, the NY Pastrami sandwich that I got made me pretty sick. Within a couple hours of eating, it hit me... was pretty ill throughout the night and the next morning. I've ordered this a couple other times before and never had a problem so I'm sure it was the sandwich. Such a bummer!

Ceviche - 10/10! Best beer pairing too

Great little beach spot! I had the ceviche and it was so delicious! Served with homemade tortilla chips. Everyone in our group loved their food, and enjoyed some 805 Cerveza with it. Definitely recommend stopping here!

    Clam chowder was ok

Finally after 10 years I've got to try Dukes. The Bronx burger was really yummy. Chicken wings were nice and crisp. They have counter style dining so you'll go in order, then go take a seat. Nice spot to grab a bite when going to the beach and don't want to drive off anywhere.

The Good: * Beyond all the beers on tap, they also have a full bar. * Service was friendly and pretty good overall. * Secret menu for both food and drink. Shhhh...! * Their wings were fantastic! You've really gotta try the Strawbanero (Strawberry-Habanero) sauce, as it was a sweet and savory bite that had all three of us fighting over. * Buffalo Barrels (aka Tater Tots) were worth the $5 upgrade. But, I'm somewhat of a Tater Tot junkie, so take that advice for what it's worth. * Fries were fantastic, as well. * Short Rib Melt was delicious, but very, very rich. It could've used a little relief like some pickles either on it or on the side. The Meh: * They do have their own parking lot, but it is smallish and can fill up fast. There is some street parking available, as well. The Ugly: * They had a lot of beers that were out of commission, including several that I was pretty excited to try. =/ Conclusion: Great spot to get your suds and spuds!

There's an outdoor patio with birds swooping by for free entertainment, and they'll even bus tables when you're not looking. One thing to note: The menu is filled with lots & lots of good choices. A case of indecision threw me for a loop when I read over the menu. To limit down my 7 first choices (yes 7), I managed to decide on something locally caught or farmed. My first thought: If I'm at a harbor, I'd like to eat fresh fish that's locally harvested. I was craving FISH TACOS but discovered that they're "flash frozen fresh" and not local. Then I thought a bowl of BROPHY'S CLAM CHOWDER would be good under the same principle. They're not local clams. The FRESH CATCH FISH & CHIPS, however, were caught locally (but I had that the night before so the timing was off). Quickly, I pivoted and ordered my original first choice. * CAULIFLOWER SANDWICH * It's locally farmed. An unsung hero on the menu, it's made with pickled onions, large, breaded cauliflower patty, green onions, lettuce, and pickles. It's filled with a roasted garlic sriracha aioli that adds a nice kick and pulls all the flavors together. The portion size is also very filling. * KID'S CHEESEBURGER * My kiddo enjoyed the tots that came with it and we added some extra greens for a small up-charge. Worth it. The portion size was more adult-sized so it's a good value for your buck. Other tasty items on their menu: WAFFLE STICKS, AVO TOAST, and BREAKFAST BOWLS. There's also CORN DOGs, Grilled Cheese, and Seafood Salads. See why it was so tough to decide?! After all that contemplation and heavy decision-making, I built up a three-person line behind me. It seemed that a few senior locals were battling a case of getting hangry. I don't blame them, but I also think a good tip is to not go there too hungry because it'll be near impossible to order quickly. So please leave your case of the Hangries for the birds. The sun, harbor, and that view should be a reminder to chase it away when it starts to bubble up.

Last Sunday we were ready to get out of the relentless summer heat of the east side of the county,…read moreand headed for the coast. I told Dear Hubby that fish & chips at the harbor seemed like a great idea, and he agreed. Initially, I tried to get us a table upstairs at Brophy Brothers, overlooking the water. That was going to be about an hour's wait, so we retreated downstairs to Brophy's fast casual option - On The Alley. Essentially, it's the same fish & chips recipe, so all good there. The line was short and moved pretty quickly. While DH finished up ordering, I went out to the indoor-outdoor room to scout a table. I wasn't able to get one against the window, but we were still able to have a water view, just a bit further away. DH was hungry, so he ordered a burger, as well as the fish & chips. He shared a small portion of said burger, and it was really good. At a Brophy's establishment, I think of seafood, but thumbs up on that burger! The portion of fries they provided were extra generous. We missed having Adored Granddaughter with us, as she would have help demolish those fries! We brought some home to revive in the air fryer. I only had water, as they don't really have any beverage options that work with my restrictive dietary preferences. (i.e., no caffeine, and low- or no-sugar). The fish & chips hit the spot, although the fish was somewhat oilier than usual. DH got a cup of their delicious clam chowder, which was served with their delicious sourdough bread. That I got to have some of, and happier for it. Sunday afternoon at the harbor made for a great spot to people-watch. There were lots of folks who seemed like they had come from points east to get a break from the heat, just like us. We all tend to have a look that doesn't portray "Ventura local". Lots of young families, which was nice to see. Made us miss our granddaughter, for sure.

And we ordered the chefs charcuterie board. The charcuterie board was delicious! The bread was warm and obviously homemade. I was really impressed by their wine dispensers and how many varieties they had of different selections. I think overall we tried 4-6 different wines for less than $40. The ambiance of the inside reminds me a little bit of Squidwards house (but in a good way) with a high arched ceiling and classical decor. I'm really glad he did because it's the kind of place I probably wouldn't have found on my own. The first thing that caught our attention was the self-serve wine dispensers lined with bottles ready to sample. We had a lot of fun walking back and forth, looking over the different selections, and deciding what to taste next. Being able to sample wines by the ounce before committing to a full glass made the whole experience feel interactive. I especially liked that I could compare different Cabernet Sauvignons side by side, which isn't something you get to do very often. After trying a few different Cabernets, Chimney Rock ended up being my favorite. The dining room added to the experience. The cave-like ceilings, warm lighting, and comfortably spaced tables made it easy to settle in, enjoy our lunch, and catch up without feeling cramped or rushed. If you enjoy trying different wines, it's easy to lose track of time here. We started with a cheese plate, which turned out to be much more generous than I expected. It came with a nice assortment of cheeses, crisp apple slices, grapes, candied walnuts, crostini, and a savory relish on the side. It was a great dish to share with our wine. My friend ordered the tuna poke tower, and we shared the cheese flatbread and sweet potato fries. I went with the Original Cave Salad with salmon, which came with a generous piece of perfectly cooked salmon over fresh greens, apples, grapes, walnuts, and blue cheese. Everything tasted fresh, and the portions were generous enough that we left completely satisfied. One thing I appreciated was that we never felt rushed. Lunch naturally turned into an afternoon of catching up, comparing notes on the different wines, and deciding which pours we wanted to try next. Before we left, we wandered through the wine shop one more time. If you discover a favorite during lunch, you can pick up a bottle before heading home, which is a nice touch. I'm really glad my friend found this place. The next time I'm in Ventura, it'll definitely be on my list again.
