Great Gluten-free options. Staff is super friendly and coffee is delicious. Very casual and relaxed, as it's in an old house on the river. Two-star coffee with a five star location. Come here for the beautiful backyard, not the coffee. Maybe if you get one of their syrup/whipped cream concoctions, it will mask the flavor of inexpertly roasted beans. The entrance/ordering area is awkward and gets crowded. Really bad feng shui. I wish they'd thought through their floor plan before they built the kitchen out. There are some sweet nooks and crannies to hang out in. You can't beat the coziness of an old home. read more

I went in to get some coffe and enjoy a nice morning with friends. Instead I was met with snooty attitude. I mentioned the punch cards being "buy 10 get one drink 1/2 off" being cheap compared to other places. The lady said it was a privilege that we would even get that! I told her it was a privilege we would even be there. "No it's not at all!" Was the response I got. Really? Way to lose a customer (or 12) since this attitude bothered me so much I've been telling friends I will not meet them there anymore and we can find someplace else to go. read more

Always love dropping by the Bean. Within walking distance from my home, so that's always nice. An always-friendly staff serves the best hot java or specialty drinks - plus locally made food items. The place is usually populated with locals casually conversing, or the obligatory laptoppers studying their respective screens. The fireplace keeps things cozy during the colder days. Then, of course, there's the splendid view of Mirror Pond beyond the grassy back lawn (which is a great place to sit on chairs or benches during the warmer days!) While we were headed to the Bend Brewing Company I saw this and had to try it as it said Local Roaster. I'm a huge fan of local coffee & tea spots so I convinced my group to do a quick stop with me. While walking towards the door a young woman held the door open for us. I believe she worked there. When I stepped in the aroma quickly got to us and half the group of 9 ordered something with me. I couldn't decide on the Velvet Elvis or the one below it. I ended up getting the Velvet Elvis with a Soy Milk substitute since I'm sensitive to large quantities of milk throughout the day. We waited probably no more than 3 minutes each person to receive our orders. My friend had a beautiful decor on top of his. A designed leaf was on top. Wish I didn't have a light cream on top of mine just so I can have a design too! Haha. Oh well not that it mattered too much because my Velvet Elvis was perfect. Not too roasted. Not too strong. Not too sugary or creamy. It hit the spot just right and I would've loved a bigger size but I got the 12oz. Finished it in a few minutes! Fabulous job! The inside was bustling with tons of customers too. It almost seemed crowded. Other than that don't hesitate to stop by and grab a good cup of coffee! read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. THE BEST COFFEE. EVER. And not just in Bend. The owner, Brent, is a coffee genius. The service is fast, helpful and super friendly (want to feel like Norm at Cheers? become a regular at The Bean). The space itself is comfy and unique. And unlike the "popular" Bend coffee house this place isn't pretentious or hipster. And did I mention the coffee is outstanding. They really know what they're doing. And if you're hungry they have some great pastries and bagels and the like - the cookies and scones are the best! I'm moving back to Dallas and I will truly miss this place. I've made arrangements to have their beans shipped to me on a regular basis. 6 Stars! read more

Incredible setting, overlooking Deschutes River. Picnic tables, cornpole toss, lawn chairs, bistro tables, friendly staff. Small patio overlooking all of the above on a nice lawn going down to the river. The atmosphere, the setting is five stars plus, but not the best espresso in Bend. That being said, the bar for great espresso in Bend is very high. read more

Love love love this joint! So many reasons to fall in love with this place. First off - the coffee. I dig it. My favorite drink is the "Dirty Hippie" which is chai with a shot(s?) of espresso. Never had a bad cup of joe here. Now let's talk about the location - in the heart of downtown with a cute little patio out front compete with tables and chairs. Comfy couch seating inside when you just want to cuddle up with your cup of coffee. And then go out back to the giant yard any Bendite would envy that includes an awesome view of mirror pond. Since it is right over the fence and all. The fence that makes it safe to bring your kids if you want, by the way. The yard is stocked with yard games so after your second cup of joe you can release that extra pep in your step ;) I could hang out here all day. Staff is always super cool too. read more

So delicious and courteous tucked away on the river. Need I say more Def a daily go to in the am! I had an orange cinnamon roll which was light and decked with a fresh marmalade , also a almond croissant which was filled with almond paste my fav.
