I was so excited to try this german food restaurant and brewery with trivia night! It's located as an anchor in a strip mall but looks modern and nice and new inside. The ambiance isn't much but it's fine, tables are comfortable, and you order at the counter. We tried to order the goulash but they were out which meant we also couldn't have the loaded fries. We also tried to order the sausage sampler, which consists of three half sausages. The restaurant refused to allow us to order this... claiming since they are out of one they couldn't possibly slice other sausages in half or they'd be left with one (but I'm confused on what they do literally every other night since these are the same sausages you can order... just split in half). She also wasn't particularly nice or helpful just refused to let us order that without offering alternatives. We went with the pretzel with a side of the beer cheese which was very tasty and the schnitzel which was unfortunately almost $20 and pretty tasteless. My boyfriend and I each had two beers, one pretzel and the schnitzel and it was somehow $82 before tip, which is outrageous for 4 beers, an appetizer and one entree: we definitely won't be back anytime soon. I'd love to have loved this place but unfortunately we didn't care for the food or the service. read more

My husband is from the SW Rhine River area of Germany. When we moved to Houston 6 months ago we were disappointed that there were only a few places with German food, this place was not on any of the search results. I promise I have done every search and we've tried the places that came up on google. The other places may have the Bavarian look or the Bierhaus style, but they've come up short on the food. I went shopping this afternoon in an area I've not explored, I saw the grocery and was headed there to get things to make for dinner when out of the corner of my eye I saw a bar that had Schnitzel written on the window. I brought the car to a halt, did a quick search on the name and discovered Watershed. . I normally would've tried the schnitzel and spätzle but I'm trying to go low carb so I chose the apple walnut Brie salad and sausage sampler for me and the Schweinsaxe for my husband. The salad was fresh and delicious, I wish the poppy seed dressing had a little more vinegar wang but I was glad that it wasn't sweet. I was told they were out of the sampler, so I was given a full size Weisswurst and Bratwurst instead. Traditionally Weisswurst would be boiled ( and white). This was chargrilled and not white but nonetheless both sausages were flavorful. They did lack a little fat or density...something was missing to give us the authenticity of a good wurst, but I'd eat it again anyway. I liked the curry ketchup and we both really enjoyed the sauerkraut, however we were disappointed that the kraut was served as a condiment and not as a side. It was really good! I wasn't offered a bite of my husband's pork but the only thing left on his plate was a bare bone, so I guess he liked it. He did say he wished it had some crispy skin on it. Since I ordered to go, I can't really comment on the service, although the bartender was friendly and made me a stiff gin and tonic while I waited. Next time we'll eat in and believe me there will be a next time. read more

Fantastic, non-chain restaurant in this area. Staff was incredibly friendly, and food was all prepared perfectly. We ordered the chicken schnitzel sandwich, turkey club, and the garlic brat (forget the name). Everything was great, but the brat was the clear standout. I rarely get impressed with bread, but the pretzel bun it was served in truly caught me by surprise. It was terrific. The tots and sweet potato fries were crispy how we like. Extensive draft beer selection, as well as some good signature drink options. One of the only places in the area to catch a game and have a couple beers. Can't wait to get back! read more

Got it for takeout tonight (thanks COVID-19) and oh my sweet schnitzel. SO IMPRESSED. Y'all, I consider myself a pretty good cook. I 've been doing alright cooking our meal the last few weeks. We've been enjoying our home cooking. We've picked up a few to go orders, and every time have been like, yes this is good but I could have made this and it would've maybe been the same or better. But y'all, I could never reproduce the flavors i got tonight. It was amazing and everything I didn't know I needed. The schnitzel was authentic, moist, and full of flavor. The fish was cooked to perfection. The fries were the perfect amount of crunch, and the apple Brie salad was proportional perfection. We were recommended by a friend to try this place out, and I promise we will be coming back frequently. I would love to try again to see the atmosphere inside the restaurant, but of course it will have to wait. 10/10 recommend. Better than German food I 've had in New Braunfels (which says a lot). read more

Fun place to watch the Astros!! The food was disappointing. The starter we had was the artichoke dip, the dip was great, but the bread that came with it was burnt is places, and that taste overwhelms the entire appetizer. If you don't eat the bread, it's good. The meal, I choose was the burger, the tejas burger. It had a weird taste to it, but ate it anyways. But the sweet potatoe fries tasted burnt, couldnt eat them. This place hires people with sticks up their asses. Called ahead to see if the patio was available and they sounded extremely displeased to speak on the phone with me. Showed up and they were very rude yelling at everyone to wear masks who stood up from their tables even if they were up for just a few seconds. Would not take my boyfriends ID. The ambience is great. It is close to our house. However, the food is just bland. I don't understand how the food can get such rave reviews. We've eaten there about four times in the last six months and the food has been underwhelming each time. I get it that German food is not necessarily my go-to food. But there's multiple items on the menu that I've eaten in other places that were done much better. They have one excellent dessert, the apple danish thing. Others may be good, but we've not tried it. Bar in a strip mall parking lot with a barren patio with picnic tables, no shade. Inside had booths and tables but the kitchen vapors/exhaust were very strong due to poor ventilation. No service, go to the bar to order food and drinks and they bring them to your table. Good draft beer selection. My son's burger was sixteen-fifty and his verdict was "meh". Cabbage rolls plus 2 sides were twenty-three, hot potato salad was small boiled potatoes mixed with mustard, awful. Pork schnitzel plus 2 sides and sauce was twenty-nine. Digital check-out asked for eighteen percent+ tip to continue. Overpriced fair to poor food with no service or atmosphere. Won't be back. read more

Pretty decent selection of beer, but atmosphere does not feel warm at all. We chose to sit in the outdoor area because it was freezing inside. No music or service for beer drinkers outside, so it was a little annoying to have to get up and reorder from the bar, especially when server is checking on table next to you because they ordered food. We ordered the pork shank, schnitzel dinner, sausage selection and kids Hot Dog for takeout. Upfront, the fact that we asked for German (bottled) beer and were only offered variations of Budweiser and a grapefruit induced Austrian parody of a beer should have made us suspicious. In a nutshell, if you are looking for a place that serves German food, keep on looking. This is one is not it. In fact run and take your money elsewhere. Review in detail: - Pork shank: Dry and with a very strange, "wine" induced side dish. - Schnitzel dinner: Such a sad parody. Pork was tough as leather, breading, instead of crispy and fluffy, was soggy and dripping of fat. The Spatzle were literally swimming in fat and lacking any hint of cheese flavor. The mashed potatoes tasted of butter only. This dish was worse than at any Bahnhofsspelunke. - Sausage selection: I've been trying for a long time to find a butcher in Houston that offers sausage that gets close to what is being offered in Germany. Seems like Watershed has struggled with the same endeavor ... and given up. Not only did none of the three sausages even closely resemble a typical German sausage, two of the three varieties offered were outright disgusting. This was a massive disappointment. - Hot dog: The hot dog is an American invention, so unsurprisingly you get an American sausage (which was too sweet but else decent) in a German pretzel type breading. The pretzel was tiny but actually pretty good ... the only item in a $80 order that this can be said for. Staff seemed stressed and was semi rude, barking at me a "are you waiting for anything?" after I had paid ... but not received my order. Yeah, I am waiting for what I just paid for. Don't bother asking if you can help me. Lastly, If as a restaurant you choose to ignore any CDC guidelines and admit guests in a crowded space without masks, that is one thing. Not a smart thing when ICUs don't have vacancies, but a decision I can understand from a business perspective. It bothers me massively, however, when waiters don't wear their masks and, far worse, it's frankly disgusting - Covid or no Covid - when all of the cooks are unmasked and ungloved. We have a Covid and RSV and flu wave going around for Pete's sake, just pretend to care about creating a sanitary environment for your guests. Overall, this was a massive disappointment. I was excited to get some home food in a newfound location close to my neighborhood, but instead will explore other options. This was not just horrible food but a bad service experience. Two stars for the pretzel. Maybe they should just sell pretzel and Budweiser. read more

Wow, it's really difficult keeping a 5 star rating, but this place deserves it. Really good German food can be found here. The Goulash is the closest I've found to the dream bowl I had in Belgium - melt in your mouth stewed beef with just the right amount of spices. Wursts were great as well as the Pretzel Bites. My kids loved their burgers too. Even their Papaya salad was pretty good. Great choice of beers on tap too! read more
