I've had consistent issues with the receptionist Kenneth, who most recently hung up on me after trying to schedule over the phone. Consistently rude, with attitude, makes off handed comments, smells of smoke. I thoroughly enjoy the women staff on this team. What an unfortunate representation for them. read more

My issue is not with the Dr's or practitioners themselves, but in business ethics. I had dental work done, and explained that I only live in the area seasonally. I left contact information along with my insurance information. They never billed my insurance company, in fact, when I followed up, they finally billed them almost one year after my care. They are now treating ME like the scumbag, because the insurance company won't take anything after 180 days. They claim they sent my claim, the insurance company claims they didn't, and I am the one on the line. Caught in a scum sandwich. read more

Dr. Dana is the best! I will only see him. He's kind, gentle, and checks on you after a procedure. With him I was able to schedule 6 months out and Dr. Dana never canceled. The new owners are no good. They cancel appointments all the time. The doc doesn't check on you after a whole bunch of fillings. They will give you a night guard that doesn't quite feel right, but the doc won't come take a look at it herself, but instead tells her assistant to tell me to come back another time if it still feels weird. read more

So disappointed that this is no longer owned by Dr. Dana. He still works here so I will continue to go and only see him, but the office changes make me sad. The receptionist is super rude and unfriendly, the old receptionist was so nice and friendly and always knew your name and face. They're "renovating" the office, which means jamming another chair in there for more patients, but this means they took out the large air filters Dr Dana installed at the beginning of the pandemic because they "don't fit". They did not alert patients that covid protocols were taken away in this regard, which I find very uncomfortable since we are now headed into a new spike in MA. This alone makes me want to find a new practice since I'm not sure this shows concern for their patients. So sad this went from a lovely, personal, small business and is turning into some weird corporate dental office. Not a fan. read more

This is no longer owned by Dr Dana. Mayani Dental bought the business. Even though I had a terrible experience with Mayani in the Brighton location previously (see that review), I was convinced to give it another shot twice because Dr Dana was still on staff. Dr Dana was still great, but BOTH times I went I was "accidentally" overcharged/billed incorrectly by Mayani. Had I not already been distrusting of Mayani's shady tactics I might not have caught it. I highly recommend you carefully look at every bill, you get from this place if you do actually go there (Don't go there). I believe these "mistakes" could be intentional. I'm very disappointed because Watertown Dental and Dr Dana were great, but now It's just not safe to go here anymore. read more

I did love Dr Dana, who (I think) was the owner for many years. I think we are now on the second set of subsequent owners. I had a checkup / cleaning recently with Dr Mason last week, and was so calm and reassuring, so nice, gracious. Seemed very competent too. And I loved that he performed the cleaning himself, with hand-tools, no 'fire-hose' sprays of water or air (which usually hurt me). read more

I went here after being in need of a new dentist and reading Betty's review. I just got back from my first appoint here and I had Dr. Peter Dana as a dentist today. Now I have been to 8-12 different dentists throughout my life thus far and I must say this was by far the best and most comfortable dental experience I have had to date. Dr. Dana talked to me the whole time and made me feel very relaxed and comfortable. He explained everything to me and gave me choices on what I would or would not need to do. Also good to note that all of my other dentists in the past usually had a hygienist do all of my cleaning and would only come check on my teeth for 2 minutes after the cleaning was done. Dr. Dana did the cleaning entirely himself and complimented me on my good dental hygiene. If you're looking for a new dentist go here! P.S. Cleanings are great!! Made an appt for 1 filling to be fixed (due to a broken tooth) they set my appt out for about a month and get in the office, and they are telling me they are doing 2 fillings. I have a pinching sensation, sensitivity and pain in one of the fillings that was fixed - still after a month of it being done. They were horrible at sucking out the debri (old silver they were removing), and I was coughing it up while in the chair and still some when I was at home. Dentist referred me to get crowns done on the teeth afterwards. They tried to set me up with an appt for that immediately. Which after the experience i just had - i told them i would get back to them on that. I received a bill ab9ut a month later- that normally my insurance would cover (military insurance) but the dental office listed/billed it a different way and solely at the discretion of the dental office (not insurance related as I called them to see what was going on) - I was charged over 100$ after my $60+ co-pay. The bill doesn't even show the date of services or description of what the bill was for. I called the dental office first and was told it was because my insurance was limited. I have had the same insurance for 21 years and have never had an issue with a payment or coverage, and numerous dental issues. My insurance tried to call them during business hours to help take care of the issue but their office was closed (at least they were not accepting calls after 4 p.m) and it went to an emergency after hours line, and was unable to get the issue taken care of. There business hours state they are open until 5 p.m. Went in to pay, and they were still claiming it was the insurance at fault when that was not the case. I, of course, paid my bill and canceled any future appts. I will not be going back and will be looking for services elsewhere. I'm saddened that I am leaving a bad review, as I rarely leave bad reviews for any business. read more

I went to see Dr.Dana once before an abrupt ownership change which I was not notified about until I was in the dentist chair about to get a filling. It's unsettling as a patient when there is lack of communication. BUT with that being said, I have been delighted with my new Dentist Dr.Sood! I have had two appointments with her now. She takes the time to explain what's going on with your teeth and has a very gentle touch. Dr.Sood's technique administering the numbing shot was surprisingly much less painful than any other dentist I have been too. And I can't forget to mention their wonderful dental assistant Debra, who also has a skillful, gentle touch (plus she's also lovely to chat with!). I'm terrified of going to the dentist, so the prospect of having to find a new one is not a process I tend to take lightly or feel relaxed about. I had finally found 'the perfect dentist' a couple of years ago and all was well... until I showed up for my next appointment and was told "oh, she doesn't work here anymore. Actually I don't even know if she's practicing dentistry anymore...but we've switched your appointment to this other dentist, go have a seat in the chair"... I was then subjected to the roughest cleaning I've ever endured, and several tacky stories about the dentist's friend/ex-roommate/someone who used to lure ladies to his apartment with his player piano. So I basically ran screaming from that place and stewed about what I was going to do. I had a couple cavities forming and there was no way I was letting Dr. Fratboy anywhere near my mouth again. So I did what any twenty-something would do and sent a plea out on Facebook, and lo and behold one of my friends recommended Dr. Dana at Watertown Dental. Picture angels singing and unicorns frolicking amidst fields of rainbows and that's pretty much how I would sum up my experience with Dr. Dana. I went in for my cleaning and had the nicest woman clean my teeth, and then Dr. Dana came in and looked things over and talked to me. I explained how nervous I am about dental work and he was so soothing and kind. Of course the cavities I had been told about at my last appointment had blossomed into bigger cavities in the 6 months I spent avoiding the old place, and I needed to have them filled. Cue horror movie music. But...it was okay! Dr. Dana has this amazing thing called the isolite that goes in your mouth and keeps your teeth isolated and everything dry WITHOUT gagging you (my worst fear), and he was able to fill three cavities in like, less than an hour. All while keeping me calm, comfortably numbed up and even making me laugh. I am a basket case about fillings. Seriously. Like, nightmares all night the night before, sweating in the car on the way over, needing to take an ativan ahead of time basket case. I'm not afraid of needles or the pain or the drill or anything, I'm just always afraid I'll gag (and I never do anyway). But I didn't gag. And he was gentle and super skilled at what he was doing, kept me aware of everything that was happening, and it was just amazing. My teeth are FINALLY all happy now. I'd had pain in one of my teeth for like 6 years and other dentists were like "oh it's probably a crack. Let me know if it continues" and it always continued, and I was told it was probably a crack. Dr. Dana found the cavity below an old filling. Ha! Fixed it with a nice white filling and I can finally chew on that side of my mouth without fear. I am so happy about my experience there. It's easily worth the half hour+ drive to go there. If you are a nervous Nellie about the dentist, or even if you aren't, go see Dr. Dana and his staff. They're so nice, they have top of the line modern equipment and he is really really good at his job, and is a truly kind and gentle human being to boot. No more Little Shop of Horrors dentist trips for me! :D read more

Seriously, I hate the dentist. I too am surprised to be positively reviewing a dental office. I inevitably cry from pain and/or fear every time I'm in that chair, and it's not only terrible, it's embarrassing -- the whole experience is usually pretty traumatic for me. So it was such a relief to find a dentist that is sympathetic to hypersensitive people and tries his hardest to minimize the painful experience! Dr. Dana clearly cares about his patients. I was really impressed with the level of follow-up at Watertown Dental. At a lot of dentist offices, you see the dentist for five minutes -- I don't think I'd recognize my last dentist on the street if I saw him, since he hardly interacted with me at all. Not only did Dr. Dana spend a lot of time on the exam, he also called to check up on me after a filling and later a surgery. I was terrified of both, but everyone at Watertown Dental (including the surgeon that comes in once a month who was great) got me through it. read more

If I had the option to give ten stars I would give ten stars. I have been going to Dr. Dana for over ten years, and he and his staff not only have an impeccable reputation from everyone I have referred over the years, they are also a staff that I consider family at this point. I just recently had a very unfortunate incident where I had a basketball related injury where my entire front tooth/cap completely snapped off. Dr. Dana answered his cell phone after hours, and offered to come into his office the next day at 7 a.m., well before they opened, and he has a 45 minute commute! I was completely blown away, but it still did not surprise me as he has treated me as family since day 1. Dr. Dana is one of the most genuine people you will ever meet. He remembers specific details from conversations 6 months prior. A true friend. I could go on for days about what good people the staff at Watertown Dental are, but most importantly, I firmly believe their practice is incomparable from top to bottom. Dr. Dana is a perfectionist, and will have you at ease your entire visit, and you will not have a fraction of doubt that whatever you are having done at Watertown Dental, it is going to be treated as well as it can be treated, with maximum comfort. I could not be happier that I will have Watertown Dental as my primary dental practice for as long as they have their doors open. They are the best of the best! Your review reading should stop here. I am upping my review to 5 stars finally. Dr. Teiber has an awesome bedside manner! She is calm, friendly, and really an all-around sweet person. She doesn't just clean your teeth, but she gives you useful tips on maintaining good oral hygiene. She gives you good feedback on your return visits and seems to genuinely care. She is also a fellow NYC gal! Today, when she noticed I was engaged, she gave me an extra toothbrush and toothpaste in my goody bag. She said it was a gift for my fiance for our honeymoon. I'd read good reviews about Watertown Dental, and they did not disappoint! I had a cleaning with Dr. Teiber (sp?) a few weeks ago and a filling with Dr. Dana yesterday. It was easy to make appointments within my time frame. Both were very thorough and neither left me waiting in the waiting room at all. I was nervous about the filling since it's been awhile since I've had one, and they warned me that it was in a tough spot, but Dr. Dana got me nice and numbed up, was very gentle, and I appreciated the Isolite and the headphones/radio he provided. Nothing can really drown out that awful drilling sound, but it did help calm me down. Dr. Dana was very excited about the Isolite and I understand why--rather than filling my mouth with gauze, something to bite on, and the additional suctiony thing, the Isolite does it all and keeps the tongue out of the way. I've also never had a dentist tell me to take Advil after a filling, but he said I might be sore and should take it for a few days. I actually feel fine today, but I appreciate the precaution. He even called me last night to remind me of that and to ask how I was doing! I definitely recommend Watertown Dental. read more

Initially, a few of my coworkers sent me to Watertown Dental when I needed a new dentist in the area. I had polled the office where I worked & the patients from Watertown Dental GENUINELY seemed happy with their experiences there. The dentist there--Dr. Dana--and his staff have cared for my teeth for several years now & they're healthier & happier for it. Dr. Dana replaced some of my older, deteriorating fillings with composite (white colored) fillings. They're nearly undetectable. Seriously, one would be hard-pressed to find them! Shamefully so, I had gone years without visiting a dentist, and after my first trip to Watertown Dental I can proudly say that I have become vigilant when it comes to taking care of my teeth. Slowly but surely, friendly visit after friendly visit, Dr. Dana and the rest of the team at Watertown Dental have become more like friends to me, instead of people to be afraid of. I must admit that I was initially fearful when I found myself seated and ready to be examined, but Dr. Teiber cleaned my teeth with such care, while chatting me up and making me feel at ease, that the fear melted away, never to return...no matter what procedure I am facing. Dr. Dana and Dr. Teiber are such naturally friendly, skilled, and considerate dentists, that I never experience any pain during an appointment. I am always sufficiently numb and comfortable, and I am so at ease during my visit that it is seems to be over much faster than I had anticipated. What is really amazing is how Dr. Dana calls in the evening to make sure you are ok...making the team at Watertown Dental seem like a group of friends. I tell everyone about Watertown Dental and praise them in every area, from their own skill to their awesome referrals. I think that this practice is wonderful. I have been coming to see Dr. Dana since I moved to Mass for college over 15 years ago. Even though we've moved since then, my husband and I continue to shlep back to Watertown because we like this practice so much. Dr. Dana is very concerned about your comfort when he works on you and he is very gentle with the needle when it is necessary. He even follows up with you later in the day if you had any type of procedure done to make sure you are doing well. His staff are also wonderful--this is the joy of going to a small practice. I know them all and they know me. Even though they are a small office, I have never had any problems getting an appointment within a reasonable time frame, both for routine care as well as emergency appointments. I cannot recommend this practice more highly. read more

Dr. Teiber brings her dog with her to work and if you so choose will bring the loveable pup for some quality time. I just completed the process of having three implants as a result of crowns that broke off at the gum. My extremely good experience with this whole process started with the referral by Dri Dana to an implant specialist in Belmont, Dr Taraneh Naghieh. She worked closely with Dr Peter Dana throughout the 18 month process. Dr Dana is a very caring and professional individual. He is sensitive to the needs of each patient individually. He gave me back my full bite by installing three beautiful new crowns on the recently installed implants. I have been so happy with my visits here. My family also goes to this office and I have never heard a complaint from anyone. Sometimes when you move to a new area it is really hard to find providers in your area that you really love, but I have found several and this is one of them. I have had to have a variety of different dental specialists for random things. Dr. Dana was one of the doctors that I have seen and I appreciate how gentle and nice he is. I used to have a chronic pain issue that caused my joints to be very painful so you can imagine how it was to sit in a dental chair with my jaw hinged open for an extended period of time. I just remember how he was very patient and conscientious about not causing me any more discomfort than was necessary. Great office!!! read more

Despite all these wonderful Yelp reviews, I am entirely displeased with Watertown Dental. I called to make new patient appointments for exams and cleanings for both my husband and I. They had availability pretty soon after I called, so I was able to get my husband scheduled for a week out, and myself for two weeks out. The woman that I scheduled the appointments with wasn't friendly or pleasant, but she wasn't entirely rude either, so I just let it roll off my back. The day before the appointment I called Watertown Dental to confirm the time of my husband's appointment since I couldn't remember what time I had made it for. The person that answered the phone was more pleasant than the person I spoke with the first time I called, and he confirmed (by name) that my husband's appointment was the next day at 11 am. Come the next day, my husband texts me and tells me that he went to Watertown Dental and the receptionist told him that she didn't have an appointment scheduled for him. He told her that I had made the appointment for him, that I called to confirm the day before, etc. and asked her to check if we had the date wrong. She said that she didn't see his name down for an appointment anywhere on their schedule. No apology or efforts to accommodate him were made. Once I got my husband's text I called Watertown Dental and asked them if they had any idea what happened with my husband's appointment. The woman who I spoke with (who was the same one I scheduled our appointments with originally) was very short with me. She asked the date and time of when I called to confirm the appointment and then said that the appointment must have "gotten deleted." When I replied with "well, that is frustrating" all she said was "yes, it is frustrating." No apologies, no efforts to further explain the appointment deletion, and no offers to help schedule another appointment. All of this was communicated with a very terse attitude. When I asked her if my appointment the following week was still scheduled, she stated that it was. I told her to go ahead and cancel it because neither my husband or I would be seeking dental work at their office. Note to Watertown Dental: Your customer service is losing you business. read more

I had a filling done here a few weeks before my wisdom teeth were extracted. Last week, part of the filling fell out, exposing the nerves and causing me tremendous pain. I called the emergency number the office left and Dr. Dana called me back within a few hours. Sensing my concern, he offered to see me the next morning on Saturday, as early as 9 AM, so the issue could be taken care of. He was extremely thorough in replacing the broken filling and made sure that I was comfortable throughout the process. I felt so much better once the filling was replaced and I'm so appreciative that he was able to see me less than 24 hours after the filling fell out, let alone on a weekend! I also appreciated him checking in later that afternoon to see how I was feeling after the dental work -- I thought that was very thoughtful. read more

Dr. Dana is awesome. I can't even believe that I, the world's worst dentist-phobe, would be gushing the praises of a dentist. But there you have it. I am a mess at the dentist's office. Most dentists get annoyed, or just kind of ignore a patient's anxiety. Both of these things make it worse, I think. My husband has been going to Dr. Dana for years. He explained my phobia to Dr. Dana, and Dr. Dana said, "No problem. Send her in." I have to tell you, Dr. Dana is friendly, competent, and super calm and mellow. OK, so I still freak out while undergoing dental procedures, but Dr. Dana is completely unfazed by it. He keeps reassuring me that I'm doing a great job and that we're getting through everything OK. He'll walk me through a procedure, all the while giving me the millions of injections of novocaine that I require to get numb. He'll calmly stand by until I tell him I'm all numbed up before even touching my teeth. If you are horrified of the dentist, but you know that you need to get back into the dental chair for an emergency or for routine dental care, call Dr. Dana's office and make an appointment. read more

The best. I had an amazing dentist growing up as a kid, he was a Red Sox pitcher and super sweet. But I will say Dr. Dana is just not good if not better. So friendly, takes great care of his patients. I had my first filling with him the other day and he texted me later to make sure I was feeling alright. The whole staff is super nice and for the first time in my life I am ENJOYING going to the dentist, I kid you not. Dr. Dana is the best dentist I've ever had. I've had troublesome teeth my whole life and have suffered through a string of bad (and at times mean) dentists. I am so lucky to have found Dr. Dana. He is extremely friendly and gentle and makes sure every procedure is as comfortable as possible. He is frank about dental costs if they will get expensive and helped me prioritize which dental work I should have done immediately and which I could wait on if I couldn't afford it for the time-being. He didn't pressure me to get the lesser-priority work done (though he did stress the importance of getting it done as soon as I could), which I really appreciated, given my budget. I've felt pressured by every other dentist I've been to and in the end felt they just wanted to make money off of me. On the evening of my appointments, Dr. Dana calls me personally on his way home to ask how I'm doing. Wow. Who else does that? He's an amazing dentist. I will be so sad if I ever have to move away to another dentist. I absolutely recommend him! read more

A small no frills dental office with friendly staff. Located right in Watertown Sq and easily accessible by various bus routes (71, 70, 70A, all the buses that stop at Watertown Yard a block away). The services seem to be limited to general dentistry but they will refer patients to other offices for more specialized care. I've only gone once so far and Dr. Dana was super nice and friendly. I plan to make this my regular dental office even though it it "out of network" for my dental insurance. read more

I've had probably five dentists in my life, and Dr. Dana is by far the best. He has a great bedside manner, and was extremely knowledgeable about dentistry (which he should be, but definitely more so than my previous dentists). Example: I had an old filling, and apparently they used to use mercury in those fillings. He told me that and recommended that I get them replaced (which I did because mercury in your system is never a good thing). The replacement was incredibly smooth and I didn't feel a thing, and he even called me that night to make sure that I was feeling okay and didn't have any problems with the new filling. He does not do unnecessary procedures and when you do need work done, he is extremely gentle and very good with Novocaine.
