    Chopped salad with steak
    Lynda H.

We were looking for a restaurant within walking distance from our hotel. We researched and found this one was close by so we set out to find it. It's located off the main drag. This is not a fancy place, just a friendly neighborhood bar. We were able to get a seat at 5:30 but by 6 the whole area was full including the bar and some of the outdoor seating. Gregory was our server and he was so helpful and attentive, answering my endless questions! I ordered the chopped salad with steak which was cooked perfectly and the salad was fresh. My partner ordered the burger with bacon, cheese and onion rings, and fries. We both agreed they were both great meals. The wait wasn't long, and it was a great ending to our day.

Loaded Tots...the absolute best we have ever had!! Scrumptious!

On our last night visiting Rockland, we found that most places are closed on a Tuesday! So happy we stumbled into Waterworks! Wish we would have found them earlier! We opened with adult beverages, a Manhattan for me and a glass of vino for my wife. For a starter we ordered their Loaded Tots. They were the absolute best we have ever had. Scrumptious almost sums them up! I ordered their Blackened Haddock Ruben and my wife their Chopped Salad. The Ruben was finger licking good and my wife's Salad was superb as well. This place is a gem! Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, it doesn't hurt that they know their was around cocktails as well! As usual, we enjoyed the bar area, the the rest of the restaurant was well kept, inside and on the patio. My wife noted that the ladies room was clean as well. Super spot! Give them a try!

Absolutely delish! I had the Alfredo add shrimp and my husband had the chicken Parmesan. I would say the Alfredo was up there as one of my top favorite Alfredo's I've ever had. The sauce was perfectly creamy and the garlic bread with it was so good. My husband also loved his dish as well. We sat at the bar and the service was great and super friendly.

Driving through Rockland, we decided to have a late lunch and drink here. We sat at the bar, and the service was prompt and friendly. I had the large clam chowder, and it was good-- not the best, but it satisfied my craving. I had the Caesar salad with seared scallops, the scallops were divine. I can easily eat a dozen of those. BF had the steak salad, medium-rare, and he said it was good. Looking forward to coming back.

Great crab dip and nice drinks before our check in for a family reunion nearby. Server sent us to a nearby market. Nice patio.

Chicken & Gnocchi Soup - Special
    Adrianna A.

The...best...chicken and gnocchi soup I have ever had. Trying to put it into words does an injustice to the divinity of this dish. Outstanding. There were hours of love in that bowl and it shone in every bite. The finely diced carrots and celery with perfectly sized pieces of chicken, you already know the satisfaction of that bite. Double it. The broth itself! Creamy but not overly thick, perfectly balanced herbs and spices...hours of this chef's love. You can tell when someone really cares. He does! Then the gnocchi people. The gnocchi. They deserve their own review. Pan seared to absolute perfection, light, creamy, fluffy inside...the flavor!!! You don't understand. This is the best dish I have tasted in a long time. Do not under estimate the chef in the kitchen of Waterworks. Every time I come in, I am surprised by the flavor and the love you can tell is going into the food. On top of the fantastic food, the staff is always kind. The atmosphere is cozy, a place just asking for families and groups of friends to come enjoy what matters most in life. Love.

    Haddock Ruben

Cute, chill neighborhood spot right downtown across the water. Super friendly staff. Wide selection on the menu: something for everyone! They even have gluten free and multiple veggie options. The patio is decently sized with comfortable seating (high and low tops). We started with the Fried Green Tomato Caprese, which is fantastic. The Haddock Ruben is AWESOME! Huge portion and really tasty. The Club is also enormous and really fresh and delicious. They have a solid wine, beer; and cocktail list and even offer non-alcoholic cocktails. Highly recommend this spot!

    Fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli

This place is a hidden gem! My husband and I stay in Camden regularly and always search out new places to try but In my searches this restaurant was buried and I just happened to see it... very glad I did and we will be returning when we're in the area! The restaurant itself is in a old waterworks building ( hence the name Waterworks) that was used by the city of Rockland. The restaurant is in a smaller portion of the building and the rest of the building ( larger portion) is now a boutique hotel. The restaurant is tucked away on Lindsay street just off the Main Street in downtown Rockland. Another reason we didn't know it's there, you can't see it from the Main Street.. There is limited parking on the street and a small parking lot but it's awkward to navigate. We love early dinners so we were able to park on the street but this place gets busy so I'm sure parking could be a challenge. Rockland does have public parking lots so you could use that and walk to the restaurant. The atmosphere is really unique being the inside of an old waterworks building. It has brick , cathedral ceilings, exposed piping and a huge stone fireplace. There is a huge bar that runs the length of the restaurant but limited seating and some of the tables are connected so you may end up sitting next to a stranger. There is also outdoor seating, but obviously that's seasonal. Noise level is high as it's cathedral ceilings and all open inside with no separation to the tables. I enjoy it because it gives a great energy, there is so much life in there! But to those of you that are sensitive to noise prepare yourselves. Service is great but be patient, the servers and bartender share all the tables.. ( short staffed as every restaurant is now) it's really cool to watch they just buzz around waiting on tables and working together! Finally onto the food which is the best part! I don't know who they have in the kitchen but whomever it is there doing a fabulous job! Everything comes out piping hot ( which is a rarity) extremely fresh ingredients and the flavor scale is off the charts! We had Nachos as an appetizer ( which we love) and they were some of the best we've had! Fresh crispy chips, plenty of cheese and even fresh sliced jalapeños. Not the ones that come from a jar! They are very generous with sour cream and salsa, which again is a rarity these day! They were fantastic! For the main course we had the Alfredo with fettuccine... we are vegetarians so we asked to have broccoli added but they do also offer chicken if you prefer. I have to say besides my own , it was the best Alfredo I've had at any restaurant! Creamy ( not watery) filled with flavor , pasta was cooked perfectly... just perfection! They serve it with fresh bread that is buttered, seasoned and grilled. So delicious! If you haven't tried Waterworks I know you'll be headed there now! We will be back as often as possible!

Found on Yelp! We were in the next town and my husband suggested dinner. Found this place doing a Yelp search and it looked promising. We arrived at 5:30 pm for an early dinner and were seated right away. The hostess was friendly and polite. The menus were extensive for what we figured was a small pub. We had a hard time choosing and eventually picked the fully belly clams and the sirloin tips. We were not disappointed. We each had a drink (alcohol) and I had a second. Total was $75 with tax. Waitress Geogianna was speedy and nice. The food was not disappointing. The tips were done but not overdone. The clams deep fried to perfection. Garlic mashed potatoes were not too garlicky but tasted great. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good dinner in a good atmosphere.

Decent food portion, but my burger was a bit undercooked. Beer was cold, and Lily was a pleasant server.

Server was very nice, but the pace was extremely understaffed leading to unacceptable wait times. Food was dry and not worth waiting for.

Ok. I'm not going to lie. When I first looked at the menu I actually headed next door to…read moreMargarita's to eat instead. Boy do I regret that decision! We came back the following night for a REAL treat... First of all, Tony was our server. What an absolute sweetheart!! He had nothing but fantastic recommendations for us. He was definitely not your standard "waiter". He spoke to us like we were regulars, which we appreciated, considering we were from Massachusetts. We ordered three of his suggestions: wings, fish and chips and the spicy margarita. Outside of what was recommended we also got the beer cheese and GIANT soft pretzel, bangers and mash and the creme brûlée. First off- this was my first time trying beer cheese, so I was beyond excited. I hate pretzels, however. Guess what?? They were BOTH SOOO GOOD!! The pretzel was the size of my giant head and was so soft & salty. It really paired well with the creamy beer cheese. I'd come back just for this appetizer every time. The wings too, actually! I was a little hesitant because I read the word "dill" on the menu but they really tasted more like Buffalo wings with a note of dill at the very end. I think I might be in love.... On to the main event! The Smithwick's beer battered fish and chips... WOW. It was a little different than I'm used to (which was a great thing in this case). The batter was thick and crispy (I'm used to thinner) and the haddock was super moist. Very fresh! I order this meal wherever I go and this is definitely in my top 3 (out of probably 50 others). I was hoping I could switch out the chips for fries because, well, I've never had traditional chips before! I must say I was pleasantly impressed though! They were the BEST and completed the dish perfectly. My fiancé had the bangers and mashed. He said it was good and very traditional. I did not indulge, so I can't relay that in my review. Last, we ended the meal with a MUST try....the creme brûlée. LEAVE ROOM FOR THIS DESSERT! The top was a hard sugar coating while the rest was truly a creamy dream. I might have to stop back in JUST for this before I head back home! 5 stars. Definitely. 6 stars for service!!

The kitchen closes around 8:50pm during the week so keep that in mind. We found out too late in the evening that their jumbo pretzel was sold out. While it's tough to navigate through most every restaurant in the Trenton/Ellsworth/Bar Harbor area without the blitz of seeing t-shirts and beanies for sale, Finn's has their their own Challenge Coin for sale ($8), which was a nice find.

This one is located in downtown Camden and offers some outdoor patio seating with great views. Sea Dog Brewing is by no means in talks of outstanding beers or brewery considering the far superior competition the state of Maine has. Even their most popular blueberry beer tastes much more artificial than you would hope. Sea Dog has been a brewery for a long while but I don't think they have kept up with the quality of craft beer you can find now. Now despite that negative talk overall about their beers I do believe most of the locations do offer quality pub food. You will find a variety of options including sandwiches/burgers, salads, pasta, soups, and more. It's a spot that everyone in your party including picky eaters will find something they want. It does have a lot of space available for dining. Service wise during our visit was alright. Ordering took awhile and time of seeing our server from one time to next took a little while. Food wise I went with Sesame Chicken Bowl and my wife got the Sautéed Lemony Chicken Piccata. Food was alright, my wife's chicken was quite dry. Overall I think it's an alright spot to grab a bite to eat when in Camden. You can likely find better spots but like I mentioned they do offer quite a variety here so give it a shot.
