Felt at home from the moment we stepped in. Of the 4 nights we spent in Bar Harbor, we ended up at Cottage Street Pub 3 of them. The drinks are great and the atmosphere is equally pleasant. Very fun, busy local pub! We came here for pre-dinner cocktails and were pleasantly surprised. It is a small space but we lucked out with getting 2 seats at the end of the bar. The drinks seem endless and the good times are just getting started as soon as you sit down on this classic wood lacquer bar. The servers tend bar as if the season ends in a week, and maybe that's true, but my tip will be tremendous. We started to get up and leave and the bartender said he was coming to get our order soon and proceeded to call my friend the * c word * and told us to get the f out of his bar (we weren't leaving because we were waiting- which we explained to him). If you are into cocktails and mixology this is the perfect little place to grab a drink when in Bar Harbor. Loved the friendliness and coziness of this small bar. The Smoked Old Fashion was delicious and well balanced. My husband was pleased they offered 3 different straight ryes which Is his preferred spirit. At $23 for two well made drinks we found it a good value. It was fun to sit at the outdoor bar seating and watch the passers by. Although cocktails are their vibe they do also offer a beer selection. Look no further for a top notch cocktail! Cottage Street Pub has the same quality $17 NYC cocktails but at a more friendly Bar Harbor price point. These are very choice craftsmanship! Their menu is rotating and they definitely boast some of the best cocktails in town. It's an ideal summer oasis cocktail spot. My friend and I got a spot in the side outdoor bar right off the street. Great people watching and good company to sip a cocktail with after dinner. The crowd is always fun. It's a small little tight location but definitely worth a stop if you are a cocktail connoisseur. By far my favorite place in Bar Harbor. From the minute we walked in I knew I would LOVE this space! It's is intimate with a great selection of crafted cocktails and beers. Tessa the bartender was attentive and friendly and her drinks were delicious! My husband had an Old Fashion which was smoked and I had one of Tessa's originals which are listed on a chalk board. I followed cottage street on insta after my girlfriend and I took a vacation to bar harbor in May of 2021. I saw them post a negative review on their insta page and had to jump into action to defend this place. We went to a fantastic restaurant in town and asked the hostess which bar to go to and she said all the locals KNOW cottage street is the best bar in town hands down and that was certainly our experience. The place was crowded (in a good way? Small hole in the wall energy) but the energy was fantastic and the bartender was working at lightning speed to make drinks. we had a blast, met a ton of random people (who I still follow on Instagram lmao). Cottage Street Pub is still the best bar in Bar Harbor. They've stepped up their specialty cocktail menu with even more unique and great tasting drinks. This summer I tried their new drinks, the Guns and Rosé and the Watermelon Crawl. Both cocktails were absolutely fantastic, but nothing holds a candle to the Albert Meadow. It's still my absolute favorite drink! We stopped by Cottage Street Pub at least five times during our visit. Always a must location on our vacation. This was the best bar we visited during my inaugural Bar Harbor trip (and trust me...we went to many) and would be a very solid cocktail bar in Portland. The atmosphere is cozy. Inside was cramped with the crowds, but outside was expansive. Unfortunately the staffing was baffling. On both a Friday and Saturday night during the third weekend in July (prime busy season) there was one bartender. Friday also had a barback, but Saturday did not. There must have been 30-50 people each night waiting for drinks. Both nights the bartender did a pretty great job considering the crowds, but they desperately need two bartenders. On Saturday night the owner manned the bar. We had recently closed our tabs but tried to order another drink after friends showed up and were lectured about doing this, so we left. It felt stressful at this bar. So how was Cottage the best? In the end, it's all about the drinks, and they are freaking amazing. There must be twenty cocktails on a chalkboard, and all are unique, clever, and unbelievably delicious. Think strawberries inside of ice cubes, smokey mescal varieties, fun fruit cocktails, etc. The menu perfectly spans from sweet and fruity to strong bourbon drinks, with everything in between. The cocktails are extremely well thought out and executed. Properly staffed this would be a five star experience. read more

But they need to do a better job with managing the bar seats. For a place with only a few stools, it sucks to have to stand behind the stools or go outside because other patrons are sitting at the bar with empty glasses, not ordering, or worse yet Children.
