When I called about my prescription expiring on 11/26, I scheduled the next available appointment for 12/30, which meant I would be without contacts for 13 days and needed a few sample lenses to bridge the gap since I couldn't purchase more with an expired prescription. When I requested samples, the receptionist was dismissive and offered no help. When I asked if she could check with Dr. Chin, she replied--in a tone that made me feel as if I should have known better--that he was with patients all day. I explained that I understood, but hoped she could ask him at some point when he wasn't actively with a patient. Despite this, she never followed up. I emailed the office today, following up on my call from Monday, explaining the terrible experience I had with the woman I spoke with and again asking that my message be passed along to Dr. Chin, as he deserves to know why a long-time patient is leaving. And once again--no response. At the very least, a response to my email should have been a basic professional courtesy, but I didn't receive any acknowledgment whatsoever. Do better, front office at Andover Eye. After reading other reviews of AEA, there seems to be a consistent theme of dissatisfaction with the front desk staff. It's surprising that nothing has been done to address it, and it makes me wonder whether the doctors are even receiving this feedback. I hope this message ultimately reaches Dr. Chin. He has always been excellent, but the lack of support and communication from the front desk ultimately led me to seek care with a new provider. On a positive note, I want to give a shout-out to the optical office staff--they have consistently been terrific.

I got a revision surgery on only my right eyelid back in October 2025. Dr. Townsend did my right…read moreeyelid because he said the reason why my left eyelid is still looking droopy is because the eyelid creases are uneven. So to even it out he made the eyelid crease on my right eyelid to match my left eyelid. Enough time has passed to heal and see the results and I'm STILL noticing my left eyelid still droopy. I notice it in the mirror, when I'm taking a picture, I feel it still droopy and it still bothers me. I notice that on my right eyelid there is some extra skin on my inner eyelid crease that doesn't match the inner left eyelid crease. It just looks weird and I'm still self conscious about my eyelids. I look closely at the pictures I take of my eyelids and notice my left one is still droopy. I was told he fixed the levator muscle but I don't think the ptosis is fixed. I moved to California and I've seen several Ophthalmologist's here but they're not being useful.

I had to wait 30 minutes for my appointment. Had a 10 am appointment and waited and waited almost canceled as I had another appointment after. I finally got seen and they were apologetic, and I had a good through evaluation. Still have good sight and happy to still see clearly with no devices. I would recommend but plan on waiting around.

The office is clean and usually punctual. Based on this I had referred my husband and others to the practice. The unfortunate - my 6 year old was evaluated and in dire need of glasses. There was not much inventory for a young child so I left having been advised that they'd have more samples in a few days and I'd get an email or text with the styles to evaluate in advance. This was 12/9. I waited several days, then began to follow up... phone calls, voicemail, text messages...absolutely no reply. None. I figured holiday hours and schedules could warrant a delayed response... but it's now 12/30 and still no response. My husband went in person to perhaps see if they were closed and maybe forgot to update their voicemail... and to our surprise the office was open! There was no acknowledgement of my numerous attempts for outreach, and even asked if I wanted to wait for the new samples to come in...um, no! My child needs these to see, and it's already been 3 weeks!! Mistakes happen, but good customer service and communication goes a long way, and this was totally absent from my recent experience. It makes me sad to leave this review because in I think everyone who works here is very kind and…read morewell meaning, but this was such an unusual and upsetting experience that I hope can be prevented and avoided in future. I flunked my first contact application appointment and I booked a second appointment for contacts at 3:30 hesitantly, explaining I wouldn't be able to arrive until 3:40. I was assured this would be fine. I arrived at 3:40 and went into the doctors' office around 4:10/4:20. I had practiced beforehand and was able to put the contacts in (hooray!). I had an unexpectedly really hard time getting the contacts out though. After trying for a while and asking for help, my doctor Amanda Gannon told me she "didn't know what to tell me" and that if I couldn't get them out by myself or with assistance that I would have to go to the ER and have them surgically removed and that MyEyeDoctor was closing in 10 minutes. She kept telling me that I had to get the contacts out and that they were closing until I started crying. She kindly told me she would wait until I could get them off and after the pressure was taken off, I was able to take out the contacts. She told me I had "gotten myself worked up" and that I would most likely be able to put contacts in at home. I was surprised to see that I left exactly at 5, which is when MyEyeDoctor closes. I can't imagine how hard these eye doctors are working and how much they want to get home, but this is one of those experiences in healthcare that will stick with me. I appreciate the doctor giving me some extra time, but I really feel like this whole thing could have been avoided with different scheduling or with my doctor easing up when she realized I was struggling with the contacts. I did wind up getting them out in time for closing, but I was really scared and upset. Lovely front of desk people, nurses, and doctors, and I've had very positive experiences with my glasses, so perhaps this was just a bad day.
