My significant other had an exam in Newburyport and ordered glasses. Her insurance card was presented at that time. Nothing was said. When it came time to pick up the glasses, she was informed that they didn't accept her insurance. She was not told ahead of time. Had we known that, we would have gone somewhere else in the beginning. She ended up paying full price! $500 out the window! Be aware of this deceptive practice! We will never go back and will tell our friends to avoid them as well. read more

I have found Dr. Lynch to be very good at getting my prescription right. She is very professional, thorough, and takes the time to explain her procedures. I had seen Dr. Traveis in Ipswich and did not have as much good luck. I struggled with my eyesight for a few years before deciding to switch opticians. I find the office staff in Newburyport however to be unfriendly. The woman performing the diagnostic tests also talked to me like I was a child and I was quite insulted. I will return for Dr Lynch although will reconsider if my experience with the office staff/assistants does not improve. read more

I have been going to Lisa Traveis, OD on Market Street in Ipswich MA for 12 years now. I am always pleased with my examinations. I love Dr. Traveis' calm, friendly demeanor and her staff is the best (Rachel and ---- I'm going to kick myself for forgetting her name). They are all professional, friendly, helpful and efficient. And the merge of Dr Traveis' practice with Appleton Eye Associates this past year hasn't negatively impacted the level of service that Dr. Traveis and her staff provide. Their COVID precautions are not consistent. When I went in for my eye exam they had me wait in my car until my appointment, they took my temperature and everything. I felt very secure by this. But then when I'm picking out my glasses, they let someone in the store who not only DID NOT have an appointment but who was NOT WEARING A MASK. How is that possible? I thought that was just horribly irresponsible, and it put me at risk. As a customer who had an appointment, I was put 2nd. I decided to leave and finish my purchase over the phone. They didn't call me for 2 weeks and then it was phone tag and then they just ordered my glasses without going over the order with me on the phone. The lack of communication was really bad. Appleton Eye Associates is THE BEST place to go for your eye exam. There is no hassle, no fuss, and no time wasted. I have been to several other Optometrists over the last few years and Appleton is top of the list! I was running a few minutes late and called ahead to let the office know. When I arrived, about 5 minutes late, I was quickly picked up by the doctor. Minutes later, the thorough eye exam began. I was very pleased that time was not wasted waiting and that the exam was thorough and done correct. After the exam, I met with the woman in the room with the frames. She quickly helped me pick out a nice pair of Oakley frames. After explaining the fees for the lens and frames, she also said I get 25% off for the lens and the frames. That was over $100 saved! I was a few minutes late for my eye exam and the receptionist informed me they had to reschedule because they were just so busy..meanwhile there wasn't a single patient in the office. The doctor was in the exam room with the door open NOT giving anyone an exam, the eyeglass fitter was NOT fitting anyone for glasses and there was no one in the waiting room. And then the receptionist gave me my rescheduled appt for 6 weeks later...I think I'll find somewhere a little more accommodating. read more

My family and I have been patients at this office for years. The doctor's themselves are fine. The staff however, is not. Both my mother and I have had unpleasant customer service by the females who work at the desk . Not only are the unpleasant, they are just plain rude. I don't understand how one can be so miserable sitting behind a desk 9-5 but, I will never go there again, as my family members will switch doctors as well. These doctors should think about finding better employees because they are not an asset to their business. read more

The optometrists are good, but it's impossible to get an appointment since the front desk does not answer the phone. Calls go straight to voice mail. Also some of the people in the optical shop are good, but one woman in particular, who has worked there for years, can be very difficult.
