Absolutely do not stay. You're better off at a motel 6 FOR SURE. The room and bathroom were VERY clean. But the bed frame and the mattress were absolutely insane. Every tiny movement, every time you stand up to pee or lay back down, you're waking up everyone within 3 rooms on either side just from the THUNDERING noise of the bed frame. Aside from all that, if you call and request an extra 30 min for late checkout the younger guy behind the counter will allow it, if you give him $40 in cash on checkout. I'd rather stay at the OVO/hooters hotel in Vegas again before ever stayed here. read more

Canceled prepaid stay + months to get refund -- unacceptable Booked and prepaid a room at The Wave. They were unable to accommodate the stay that night, so we had to book and pay again at their sister hotel next door (Hotel Pacifica). Fast forward: it took approximately six weeks to get the $100 deposit back, and nearly three months for the travel agency to force the refund for the prepaid room that The Wave canceled. The travel agency sent eight or more documented emails simply asking the hotel to confirm in writing that they were unable to accommodate the guest. The hotel did not respond. The front desk staff were polite and helpful -- Kevin became familiar with us because of how many times we called and went in person. The problem was management. The manager/owner (Nick) was the person required to approve the refund and chose to be non-responsive to emails and calls from both us and the travel agency. That is not good business. You don't get to take someone's money for a room, cancel the stay, and then ignore refund requests -- especially when the guest had to pay again at your sister property the same night. If money was that tight, the guest should have been accommodated. Keeping the money without providing the room is unacceptable. Advice to other travelers: Get a printed folio and deposit receipt before you leave. Ask the hotel to inspect the room and release your deposit in writing. Otherwise, you may find yourself months later fighting to get your own money back. read more

The first room I got had a terrible gas smell, as in petrol. They moved me to room next door. This room had water dripping from the ceiling. Third room had no working AC. Finally seemed okay on the 4th room, until I used the shower and spotted black mold on the ceiling. Pool was surrounded by caution tape and unavailable. read more

We have never stayed such awful hotel.( if that is what you call it) First the bed is so uncomfortable you might as well throw the bedding on the floor and sleep there. The tv , well good luck with that. Wanted to take a shower got a towel and that two large dirty areas on it.Took that to the front desk and they told us just leave it on the bathroom floor. No apologies. People were yelling outside at 1:30am and we complained they said it's ok nothing was wrong. Again no apologies. Toilet ran all the time we were here, that was four days. We put the tag out for the room to be cleaned two days in a row no results. They came into the room left a washcloth and hand towel The first time with nothing else done. Second day they came did nothing but move a table and change the A/C temp. Again to the front desk, they gave us some coffee packets, towel, washcloth and trash bags. again no apologies. We don't upset very easily but I tell you we're plain mad. Will never stay at this dump again and bad mouth them to everyone. So if are booked here good luck! read more

Recently stayed here and 100 percent do not recommend. The mini fridge did not work at all to begin with. Upon checking out they said they would return my 100$ deposit fee, 4 days later I only get 80$. I called and asked why, they said two towels were damaged... WE TOOK OUR OWN towels. ZERO STARS -- DO NOT STAY HERE (If zero stars were possible, that's what this hotel deserves.) My husband and I booked the Wave Hotel while traveling from Las Vegas to California for my godmother's funeral. This was already an emotional and difficult time, and unfortunately, our experience at this hotel added unnecessary stress. We paid for and confirmed a KING-size bed, which was important since both of us are over six feet tall. Upon entering the room, it was immediately obvious the bed was not a king--more like a full or queen. On top of that, the mattress was so hard it was like sleeping on the ground making it extremely uncomfortable. I took photos and went straight to the front desk. The front desk staff stated they were unaware of the issue and said they needed to speak with the owner (her father). When he arrived, he never spoke to us directly. The next day, we left early for the funeral. When we returned later, another employee claimed they had attempted to move us to another room while we were gone, which was not true. We were then told there were no other rooms available because the hotel was fully booked--so again, no resolution was offered. Additional issues: Dirty towels Uncomfortable, damaged mattress We did not use the hotel's towels or pillows because we always bring our own towels and pillowcases At checkout, we raised our concerns again. Management offered only $20 back for parking, and told us that if we wanted to dispute anything further, we would need to contact Expedia. Also we checked out at super early (6am) due to the uncomfortable 2 day stay About a week later, we discovered an unauthorized charge on our card. The hotel claimed we damaged their towels, which is completely false. We never used them and there were no washcloths in the room at all. We had to dispute the charge with our bank, and we are currently waiting for the refund. This hotel is poorly managed, unprofessional, and dishonest. Came for 4th of July weekend. Picked the hotel using bookings.com which left good reviews. We were very disappointed. I will say that the location was good. Good distance to stores and places to eat. A close drive to the beach. Room was bad. We were missing a couch which was advertised. The bed was too hard and the metal panel around the bottom of the bed made a loud bang every time our foot bumped against it. Super annoying. Continental breakfast was simple and light. Make sure to request a room far away from the cleaning utility room. The maids were loud early in the morning. read more

The biggest problem I had was that the mattress was awful. It's hard as a rock. The staff was very polite and attentive... BUT...their so-called beds are awful. In fact, they are not a real bed with a mattress and box springs, they are more like deteriorated foam pads placed on a steal frame. Notably, the frame has a thin metal shielding at the floor level that echoes like a Chinese Gong when your feet hit it - talk about irritating! So back to the mattress,... if you like sleeping on a bumpy uneven surface that is extremely unconformable and frustrating then this hotel is your best choice. Be aware,... all the rooms have these terrible beds, so changing rooms will not make a difference. I brought this fact up with the staff and their kind reply indicated to me that their budget did not allow for a proper upgrade with respect to the beds. Some people just don't get it when it comes to customer satisfaction. Investing money in customer comfort will increase profits in the long run and will bring a halt to negative reviews like this one. In addition, their ice machine did not work, so I had to go across the street to the Hotel Pacific to get ice. If you're into extracurricular exercise then you love the ice journey. I checked into The Wave hotel in Manhattan Beach on March 22, 2025 and check was for March 23, 2025. The photos posted on the internet is deceiving. The property is very old and outdated. The parking structure is undeground and it is not well kept. I went to front desk and checked in and I asked the employee did the hotel have a safe in the room. She stated no. I came to the area for one day, because i had a event planned for the evening. As I was walking to my room each air conditioner unit had a plastic container on the ground to caught the leaking water for the units. When I enter the room the room appear to be clean. There was cheese chips on the floor under the desk corner in the room. When I went to the restroom there was duck tape on the toilet seat holding it together. I tried to turn on the television while I was getting ready for my event I was attending and the television didn't turn on. I called the front desk to request for another room and no one answered the phone. I called approximately three times. Walked to the front desk and there was no one there. I had to leave to go to my event. I came back to hotel approx. 3 1/2 hours later. I parked in the parking structure underground and the whole area smelled like marijuana. Right away I went to the front desk to make a complaint about the toilet and the television not working. The front desk female stated she didn't know anything about the duck tape on the toilet. She stated she would change the batteries on the remote for the television and she would take pictures of the toilet and show the photos to the manager in the morning. After she replaced the batteries and gave me instructions on how to use the television I thought things would get better. But before i knew it the volume of the television would not go down below 19 in the volume. In the meantime, I go to take a shower and the water pressure was so low. The water felt like it was barely touching your skin. I was tired and I got into bed and the sheets did not smell clean. I couldn't hardly fall asleep due to the people upstairs were stomping around and making noise. I felt this was the worst experience I ever had in any hotel , located in Manhattan Beach. I paid $ 150.00 for the night, and for the area. This hotel did not even touch the standards of a high quality hotel. I went to use the iron, to iron my clothes and the iron didn't work. I was done at that point. I had to wear wrinkle clothes. I went to the front desk In the morning and I spoke to the manager. I complaint as I was checking out. The manager name was Kevin and all he could say that the hotel did not have any other rooms available for the night . This statement was hard to believe when the parking structure wasn't even full during my stay. As I was complainting the manager said well you checking out now and he could have cared less. He was unprofessional and inexperienced as a manager. There was another guy standing at the front desk and I asked him his name and he stated Carlos. I asked him what was his position at the hotel and he said he was the maintenance guy. He right away made a comment concerning the duck tape on the toilet and he said he didn't have time to change the toilet seat. I said but yet you still opened the room to a guest and that was not very ethical to rent out the room under those conditions. The manager just look away and didn't make any more comments. I ask if he could discount me on the room and he said no and nothing can be done. I hope the owner of this hotel evaluate his staff and make some changes to improve this hotel. read more

Needed a last minute place to stay on Thanksgiving. Ended up going here thru Booking.com, whose rating was good (in the 7's). After leaving and going back to family's house to sleep on a couch instead, I looked this place up on Yelp and found the two star rating which seems more accurate. We didn't end up staying here because when we went to lock the door from the inside the door was so out of wack the deadbolt wouldn't work! We immediately turned around and went back to the desk for another room and was told they didn't have anymore doubles. We'll thank goodness they didn't and we were able to get a refund and get out of there. The place had an overall sketchy feel. TONS of very visible security cameras around which is kind of a clue. Generally run down in the common areas and lobby. In the 30 seconds we were in the room it looked like it may have been clean, but I can't really speak to that or the comfort of the bed or the room amenities. Giving one star because clerk was nice enough to work with Booking.com and approve a refund. I would not try to stay there again. And in the future I will be cross referencing Yelp on any Booking.com ratings (also Trip Advisor has a decent rating and reviews) in the future. Maybe my standards are too high‍. Stayed at this hotel for a soccer game, and I will give it one star for the closeness of the beach and the venue where the match was, but other than that, I wouldn't both staying here. The price is pretty much a "get what you pay" for situation. Sure the hotel stay price seems like a steal, but staying here, everything seems dated and dirty. I booked a room here back in April 2023 for an event I booked for August 31, 2023. I needed to cancel the room and was told to go to booking.com where the reservation was originally placed. booking.com in turn told me to speak to the hotel. So needless to say, neither provided me a solution and just ping-ponged me back and forth for over a week. I was then charged a fee for not canceling the room in time. You can't make this stuff up. Stay anywhere else!**** The hotel manually charged me an additional $180, which means someone went into the system and keyed it in for an extra reservation the first night I was staying at the hotel. The sheets felt like sandpaper, were even thinner than sandpaper, and were stained. No blanket in the room. Had to go down and wait 15 minutes to get one. Towels were made for toddlers. The water pressure is nonexistent. Keys rarely worked and had to continuously get them replaced. One staff member was nice but the rest were some of the rudest people I have ever encountered. First let me say that if you attempt to call this place it is almost impossible to understand what is being said. I am not suggesting anything other than very poor communication skills. Room furniture old and very tattered, bed is horrible, and room has a musty smell. Check in time is 3pm, if you arrive at 2 they will charge you $20 extra to check in. The fees are $20 per hour prior to check in. Horrible PR skills as well as verbal communication. THEN arrived day-of to find that they over booked the hotel and didn't not have rooms for us!! They could see our reservation, but did not have the room. Offered zero solutions. Would not call the manager, would not offer suggestions of other places, discounts, etc. WE had to figure it all out. Eventually - our party of took the only room they did have and used an old roll-a-bed in addition. They give us keys - we go to the room and THEY HAVE GIVEN US A KEY TO ANOTHER GUESTS ROOM. We open the door on these people in their undies, scaring these poor people to death! When we returned to the front desk disgruntled (please note that we did not yell, swear, or disrupt the space) AND YET we were instructed to stay calm / speaking more "respectfully" / be more understanding. My first thoughts - "it will do for 1 night". Arrived at 12:00pm and were advised check in is at 3pm and nothing that they could do until then... the receptionist was acting like the hotel was fully booked out that previous night and house cleaning have to go through and clean every single room? Sorry that's bull sh*t, the hotel was EMPTY, we've just come off of a long haul flight and this was noted on the "special instructions" when the booking was made that we may be arriving early. You can't tell me that there isn't at least 1 empty room....whatever. Receptionist couldn't give us directions to our room, just gave us the room key and said with a bad attitude "have a good day", once we finally found our room, we can't even get through our door because it is jammed, you physically have to kick the door in to get it to open. The evidence is there from previous guests as the door lock is just about ready to snap off. Our room is located in the back far corner of the hotel directly across from the house keeping/laundry room (empty hotel yet they give you the most inconvenience room). Loud noises coming from the laundry as they've got the dryers going, so hoping this (+ house keeping staff moving in and out of the area) will not wake me up in the morning as I am jet lagged. There's no window on the laundry room so we can clearly see all of the stained, massive pile of unwashed linen. Open up the door to our room and are greeted by a disgusting smell of bleach/chlorine, like it's seriously over powering!!! I am happy I only need to sleep here once. Feel gross walking around in the room as it is very unclean. Stains EVERYWHERE. Turned the shower on to check out the water pressure, it's not too bad, look down on the tiles and there is yellow stuff all over them?? I had to shower with my thongs on as I did not want to be on that floor with bare feet. The towels are tiny and thin. The air conditioner (while works fine) is LOUD, it looks like it's from the 1700's or something! Our curtains in the room don't cover the window 100% so people can see inside. 4 tiny pillows on the bed, I don't understand why they can't supply normal rectangular pillows. UPDATE: it's been 8 months since I stayed here. We called and emailed the owners several times with no response. I reached out to the BBB who reached out to them 3 times with no response (who knew the BBB won't do anything with a no response except document it!? What gives BBB, what are you even good for?). Whole story short, you probably won't like it here, your room will be outdated and not clean and you're service most likely will be bad. It's definitely not worth your money or your time. Owners are awful. From our experience we're reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. First, the service was horrible. Our check in time was 3:30pm. We didn't get there to check in until 7pm. We were told that our room wasn't ready and that they will get someone to clean it. It took another 50 minutes for it to be clean, a total of 5+ hours over our check in time. We wanted to speak to the manager because that was unacceptable. It's family owned, which means they are never there. When we checked out, 2 days later, the assistant manager happened to be there and said that this was definitely too much time to wait and we should be compensated, BUT she had to talk to the family owners and they would call us back. We have called and called and they won't return any of our phone calls and it's been a week. This is so disrespectful to me and just unprofessional. From that alone I would tell you to STAY AWAY. But the quality is also a factor. Second, quality sucks. Showers were clogged so the water filled up. There was black hair on the floor on the bathroom, so I don't know why it took 50 minutes to clean, it hardly was clean. Certain lights were out and a lamp was cracked, missing a big chunk. TV only has 2 channels and one level of volume, low. You won't get a good night sleep here because the pillows feel like 1,000 cotton balls are shoved into the pillow case. !! DONT GO HERE !! This was not a good motel please do not go here. The location is really good and there was good food places by there, which is probably the only good thing. In my bathroom there was mold on the ceiling and the water smelt so bad. the floor was sticky and I had to wear slippers the whole time there. Everytime you moved on the beds one centimeter it made a loud squeaky noise. The desk chair was so dirty, had stains and didn't seem clean at all. The pool looked very dirty and not cleaned at all and the Jacuzzi was closed. First day there I had to clean down everything and it was so dirty. These walls here are so thin I could here everything going on all besides me it was annoying and made me not have sleep at all! We booked 3 rooms. I called ahead of time to make sure we were all together, I was told yes. When we got there, we were all separated. Front desk lady was super nice(she had just started her shift) tried to help everyone get a room(there was a long line). Had to physically go check the rooms to see if they were clean. The rooms smelled horrible all 3...old and moldy. No microwaves (just 1 in the main lobby), the king room had no refrigerator, our bathroom seat was split and mended with double sided tape.( don't know when it happened but looked as if it's been there awhile, not to mention all the dead ass skin after people have used it. GROSS) We bought some blankets because the blankets are disgusting. No coffee maker, just old coffee packets. Basically, the pictures on the website are nothing like the rooms. It looked like a beat down apartment complex. The beds were so uncomfortable that my partner and I have been aching since we left. The walls were all dirty and scuffed up, the towels were so small they couldn't wrap around my body and felt super rough. The sheet that covers the box spring was dirty. The showers looked like they haven't been scrubbed down in a while. The handle to the toilet was broken and would hang off when we pushed to flush...then we would have to hold it down because the toilet wouldn't flush. Uninviting wood floors with no area rugs, nothing on the walls like pictures for some sound proofing, the bed felt like it was 20 years old, no lamps on the side tables, the white pillow cases and sheets were dingy and not clean crisp white like they should be, and the hair dryer didn't work! I went to the front desk to get a new one because I had to dry my hair for work, come to find out it was the outlets at the sink that didn't work! I had to dry my hair by the bed as that was the only other outlet that worked and I couldn't see myself in the mirror! My hair looked like crap for work! Plus the mini fridge made an awful clicking noise, so bad that I couldn't get to sleep and had to end up unplugging it! Rooms look nice however the sheets are gross and really unsanitary. When my son got under the sheets he cut his foot on a piece glass found in the sheets. First time coming here booked this place from a third party . Made reservations however it took a beautiful lady receptionist to change my dates. Chris the manager is never reliable. Arrived on the 17th lady front desk was wonderful but the room was okay hotel is under reservation. Didn't like the fact we were placed right next to housekeeping and you have full visibility of the sheets. Their no housekeeping room or laundry mat bin to place them. Every morning when my husband and I wake up you hear the housekeeping at the door. Breakfast is god awful they need better accommodations than that. Cater if you have too. We end up going to I hop instead don't let your kids drink the apple juice it's been days old and I know what apple juice taste like. The sheets have ink and grease stains in them. This hotel looked amazing online however once we arrived to the property we were surprised by what we found. To begin with the property looks nothing like the photos online. We went through booking.com and thought we were getting a deal. Once we checked in and walked towards our room we discovered that the pool and spa area looked very different in a bad way compared to online. Then we got to our room, WOW! This room was dirty looking and nothing like the pictures online. I have to commend the photographer because they made a sketchy property look nice online. Once we got to the room we noticed stains on the chairs and what looks to be blood on the bed skirt. Additionally there is no box springs for the bed just a tin platform that bows and makes noise once you get on the bed. The bed was horrible with springs you could feel through the thin sheets and sorry excuses for pillows. We immediately called the front desk to inform them that we needed to cancel our reservation and leave as this was clearly not what we had seen online and not up to our standards for a comfortable stay. The only good thing about the property was the front desk lady who was super nice and refunded our money. I however can not in good faith recommend this property to anyone. We ended up staying about 3 miles up the road for less than this property and way better amenities. read more

First the good things...Mona at the front desk was very efficient and accommodating. The service staff was fast and pleasant about bringing us extra towels, blankets, shampoo and coffee pods that were not in the room when we checked in. The hotel is close enough to Uber just about anywhere in Redondo or Hermosa. Now....no continental breakfast is offered. The jacuzzi is out of order. The pool is disgusting. The room had half an inch gap at the top and bottom of the door. The coffee maker didnt work. The shower had some weird fungus in one corner. The vending machine was empty. The man at the front desk is a slack jawed dolt who couldnt be bothered to get out of his chair or look us in the eye when he finally came to the counter. Would I stay there again? No. You get what you pay for...and for what we paid, I'd at least expect the basic ammenities. read more

We got our room key but when we got to the room the room was a mess.We had to get a new room.When got to the room it was ready for us.It was a clean room ,but when I first walked in the toilet was broken.I also needed a roll away bed, but when we asked they did not bring it.We left for about 2 hours then they finally brought it.This stay wasn't bad but not great. read more
