    Italian-hot, sub turkey for ham
    Melanie C.

The bartender or owner was on it. He bounced from table to table to bar-that man is getting his steps in and he did it with ease. No one really had to wait for any real length of time. The sandwich's are great. Our table got the cheesesteak, the turkey bacon pesto, the Italian and the roast beef. The cheesesteak was great- it was pretty cheesy, if I was ordering for myself I would ask for slightly less cheese but really it was perfect and piping hot. Everything else was also good as well. It's a little pricey but it was good. I wish the sandwiches/subs did include a side for the price. We will be back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Side note-Everclear was playing when we sat down so extra points for good jams.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The way this was hyped up on TikTok.... I think I set my expectations higher than what they should have been. I love a great sandwich... and if you grew up in Richmond when Padows was at willow lawn mall, then you know, that was a great sandwich... this was mediocre at best. I wouldn't drive out of my way again to come here. I will first start with customer service. When I first got there, there was a man and a woman behind the bar. Not once was there a hello, welcome in... there was nothing but a look up and they continued with whatever they were already doing. Normally, I would just leave when the customer service starts out like that... but again, this guy on TikTok hyped this place up... There is a baby sized tablet that is the kiosk to order on... so make sure you read the signs when you go in because of the lack of communication, no one told me that... i was just in there looking confused because the employees, i guess, thought that I would just figure it out... and I did... the BEST thing I got was the macaroni salad. It could have been a little more of a creamy texture but that doesn't take away from the flavor it had. It was very good. The meat on all 3 sandwiches seemed overcooked and a little tough to chew. The cheesesteak lacked flavor tremendously. And the meat on top seemed a little burnt. My man who is a cheesesteak fanatic (from up north) even said nahhhh this ain't it... and I agreed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is cute... but i don't have to have it again.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was very empty in there. Maybe that's because of the customer service or maybe it's because it's just a okay sandwich.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The man that was behind the counter was nice when he handed me my order. But that was the only interaction I had even though I did sit in there while I waited for my order. Even while sitting, there wasn't a How are you today... or your order will be out shortly... it was nothing else...

    Philly with fries

This restaurant receives high reviews and was located only a couple of miles from my client's site, so I decided to give it a try. Most seats at the bar were taken, so I chose a table next to the bar. It's a little strange to see a sandwich shop / cocktail bar back in Texas, but I guess it's more common here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music playing on the speakers was all over the place but ranged from Latin to rock to pop to reggae mostly during my visit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I didn't try a cocktail, so I can't comment on those, but they do offer a full bar. I looked over the brief menu and chose the Philly since I was pretty hungry. At $15, I was thinking it must be good and huge. I subbed the American for provolone and added grilled green peppers and jalapeños. I chose fries as my side. It turns out the Philly is indeed delicious and packed with beef, so the meat to bun ratio was high. This is more like a torpedo in shape, as the buns are not very wide or long. It was also plenty cheesy and even has a little grease taste without being completely grease soaken. The fries came out hot and fresh, and salty, but these are just frozen French fries so nothing super special. Service was very friendly from the woman behind the bar who was hustling the entire time and handling bar customers, a handful of customers at tables, and the take out customer like a champ. This was not her first rodeo.

Stopped by on my way to school after seeing so many great things about their cheesesteak! I can say this is now my #1. Unfortunately it's not "in Richmond" but well worth the drive ! It was sooo cheesy but not soggy at all. It was packed full of meat but not too heavy. Delicious.

Cheesesteak sub - 2 days old. Couldn't eat the whole thing. It was just as yummy later

The subs are delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you ever thought that a night out (they close at 7) at sub shop wouldn't /couldn't be fulfilling, think again[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. My favorite is the cheesesteak sub. That's until I order the Italian sub. Then that becomes my favorite and then the vicious cycle repeats!

Came in to get some food to go. Was treated very kindly. It felt like I was one of the regulars there. To top it all off, another customer paid for my meal. I felt very special here. The food was perfection.

    Cheesesteak and potato salad

We ordered our food online and it was pretty quick to be ready in 15 minutes which is about how far we live from the place. My husband said the place was clean and you could eat there but we took ours to go. There are different types of sandwiches but we had our eye on the cheesesteaks since people rave about it. It was definitely tasty and had an over abundance of meat and cheese. It's a pricey dish but I think it's worth it. I also had a side of the potato salad and that tastes just as delicious. Great eats!

Heard about this place from a group I'm in so wanted to see if it lived up to the hype. Upon arrival, we were advised that they were out of quite a few items on the menu. Luckily, or so I thought, they had the items I came for. I ordered buffalo wings and a side of fries and my mom ordered the cheesesteak with a side of fries. The cheesesteak was 8" and was packed with meat and cheese. It was pretty good. The wings were okay but when we asked for another side of ranch we were informed they had just run out. The waitress told us they make it in-house. Overall, the food was good but go early in the day because they run out of menu items. We got there around 5pm on a Friday. The restaurant itself had a cozy feel and there was a decent sized bar.

    Well crafted old bay wings.

I had the pleasure of going to Waves Sandwich Shop in Hopewell, VA. First, I have had plenty of fried chicken wings in my day, but none can compare to the crisp and well seasoned flavors that came from these wings. No heavy greasy aftertaste, which was a plus. The price point is $13, and you get 10 wings that you will not soon forget. There are many reviews that rave about the cheesesteaks. For many good reasons, they do not disappoint. They're jammed packed with delicious seasoned meat and worth the $17 price. Overall, it was a great experience, and I will definitely be back.

Been hearing about this place for months and finally drove the 25 minutes from Richmond City to go there. Called to place my order for pick up and was happy to see the sandwich was ready when I arrived. Got back to my car to take a bite and the sandwich was piping hot still. This tasted like an authentic cheesesteak from the Philadelphia area. Have to admit this is the best Cheesesteak I've had in the RVA Area!! WAVES, I'll be back for another Cheesesteak and I'm bringing friends so they can all experience your delicious sandwiches!!

We ended up at the Salty Siren for two reasons, one, it was recommended by one of the guides at the Henricus Historical Park as being near the Farrar's Island historical marker (ancestors) and it was on the river. The view was gorgeous. We were promptly seated at an outdoor table overlooking the water. Our server, Jodi H., greeted us with a smile and offered to get our drinks and our calamari appetizer. It was excellent. Light, crispy, fresh with a few fried jalapeños for zing. The dip served with them was really good. I ordered fried oysters, which came with authentic hush puppies (which for this southerner means no sugar!) and I ordered the vegetable of the day (steamed broccoli) to sort of make up for the "fried". My husband ordered the grilled salmon. His salad was huge and the vegetables were so fresh that I filched some of his cucumbers. His salmon was amazing. It was perfectly cooked and it was so moist and tender. We will try to return if we are ever travelling this way again. Try The Salty Siren. Presentation & Variety: The dish is a beautifully orchestrated showcase of premium seafood textures and clean flavors. The plate centers around a high-quality, lightly browned lump Blue crab cake resting atop a smooth bed of rich whipped potatoes. Individual Components: The Crab Cake: Features a golden-brown crust with minimal filler. It is packed with sweet, tender lump crab meat and garnished nicely with fresh herbs. Although there were a few remnants of crab shell within the cake, this was my favorite part of the entire meal as the authentic flavor of Blue Crab was abundant. The Scallops: Four large sea scallops were seared to perfection on one side, displaying an appetizing caramelization while remaining incredibly tender and juicy inside. The Shrimp: Five large, plump, tail-on shrimp circle the right side of the plate. They are beautifully cooked, retaining a vibrant pink color and snappy bite. The Sides: Fresh green asparagus spears rest in the center, providing a crisp, earthy contrast to the rich seafood. I don't eat veggies, so I didn't touch the asparagus. Would have taken a substitute, but the restaurant would not honor my request to substitute. Which is the reason for the service rating of 4.0, although the waitress did an amazing job. A bright lemon wedge and a side of robust cocktail sauce round out the plate perfectly, although neither was needed to make this meal taste any better. Bonus: They did give me a 10% discount on my food, therefore bumped my 3.0 rating of service to a 4.0. Would have been a 4.5 if Google allowed half star ratings. Highly recommend.

There is a pretty small public parking lot directly across the street, and it was full, so I'm not 100% sure if we parked in the public parking or the parking lot of the glass shop next-door since there weren't really any signs. I really hate parking in the middle of any town, but it wasn't too bad. But I'm still not sure if we could've gotten a ticket or not. You seat yourself in this really awesome classic rock themed restaurant. The decor is great, a perfect mix of interesting things to look at, without being super claustrophobic-ly overwhelming. It is really cute. We took a minute to look over the menu, and decided on the house cut chips appetizer, and both a beef and chicken Shawarma for us to try both. The beef Shawarma was delicious. I really like the seasoning that they use on their meat or sauce or something. I never could place what it was or where it was, but the flavor is just heavenly. A little sweet, a little savory and delicious. The fresh pickled veggies were also amazing. They were still crisp with that snap that you really want with pickled foods. Chicken Shawarma was definitely my favorite since it had slightly different pickled vegetables. They were both good, but the chicken was definitely my favorite by just a touch. The bread was a little hard and chewy for my likings, it definitely stood up to the creamy sauce and the juicy pickled vegetables, but it almost hurt my teeth if you just had a dry spot that hadn't been soaking in some form of liquid. The house cut chips are just OK, nothing special by themselves, but that trio of dipping sauces was amazing. We were dipping our fries into it because we liked those a little better than the chips, but we ate almost every drop of that sauce trying to figure out which one was our favorite. one of the hot sauces is blueberry and very sweet with a mild spice, one is I think mango and not spicy initially, but when you swallowed, you definitely felt it burn in the back of your throat. It was a nice sneaky heat, which I love. And the third dipping sauce, we could not place, but we literally could not figure out which one we loved the most. They have a patio outside with lots of tables, but we did not go out there. It looks cute in the pictures though. The downside, is that while the service was very great, if you catch them out a bad time, they don't yet seem to be able to handle huge amounts of orders. They've only been open for about two months, I think, so that will come in time. It seems that they only have one guy cooking in the back, so we were unluckily there at the same time as a table of eight people. If we had all the time in the world, I could have sat and stared at the decor for ages. But unfortunately, if you are on a lunch break or have to be somewhere, they could potentially be so backed up it takes quite a while to actually get your food. It was a rare and random set of circumstances, and probably does not happen often, and she generously comped our chips which was not necessary but was very appreciated. The service here is absolutely top-notch. We will definitely be back for more of that delicious Shawarma. Definitely earlier in the day though, so we can sit as long as we want.
