I wanna give them another try i was in the area at another restaurant on the strip and decided to stop in to take a look and decide to try atleast something and that's just what i did . I decided to try this one particular dish, which pretty much was just rice, but it so happened to be unique. It was salmon rice never would've thought of that salmon fried rice but it was delicious. The proportion was decent only due to the fact that it was the bottom of the pot I guess at the end of the day, but I still wanted it so I can try it out. The lady at the counter told me to the place are usually eight dollars but since it was the bottom of the pot, she sold it to me for five so that was not a bad idea or a bad deal and the rice so happens to be good. The rudeness is what stood out. The cashier lady got mad because she told me the wrong price. The sloppy cook came out and literally cussed me out called be a b!tch because she over charged me then I saw a mouse (yes a mouse!), so I didn't want any food from there and wanted my money back. It's a humble mom and pop establishment. Walked in the door I was greeted. All of the food was labeled and immediately recognizable. It was quiet and smelled delicious. The turkey is smoky a little bit of spice and delicious. The cabbage is good if you love garlic, which I do when I have goat meat sauce drizzled on my peas and rice. I have come here a few times over the last couple of years. Most recently during the holiday season. I've tried the oxtail and the curry goat a few times. I've always enjoyed my meals. Everything has good flavor however it's not the best I've had. The curry goat has more bones than I'd like and the oxtail is a little tougher but overall still one of the best in the area. They are located in a lot right next to a chevron gas station. There's typically ample parking. The workers are Jamaican so I could tell the food is authentic. The meat literally fell off the bone the second I picked it up with my fork. And the flavor is so good. Perfect spice/heat to it and the seasoning is on point. I also got to try the fried chicken and Jerk Turkey wings. Man the fried chicken was out of this world. I have never tried any fried chicken like these. So flavorful, tender, juicy, and skin was crunchy, with the perfect spice and the seasoning. I wonder if they cater because I need to bring their fried chicken to my next potluck. Man! The woman up front offered excellent customer service as we were indecisive in making our selections. We decided on oxtails, jerk chicken and jerk turkey wings. The portion sizes were big and the pricing appropriate for each dish. As a Trinidadian, it's hard to find decent Caribbean food here in Atlanta. I ordered the Salmon fried rice, oxtails, steam cabbage and plantains. Pros: Friendly staff. Clean. Prices are decent. The oxtails was tender and well seasoned. Cons: The salmon fried rice was a little hard. It was a $3 upcharge which was fine but not for the rice to not be cooked fully. Just needed to cook a few minutes longer. It was well seasoned and didn't taste fishy. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars. Couldn't leave 4 1/2. You know the one place that you pray is open because you had a long day at work, don't feel like cooking, and want some comfort food? I have 2 or 3 and this is easily my Favorite. With reasonable prices (10-15$ for most dishes exempt oxtail) and it's cafeteria style set up this becomes the perfect place for my grab and go mentality after a long day. Above and beyond Wavez is one of my husband's favorite restaurant. So I decided to have them cater a small (7 person) surprise dinner I had for his birthday. I placed my order and provided a $50 deposit 13 days before the dinner. But when I arrived to the restaurant I was told there was a miscommunication with the chef and I was offered a refund. I let them know that was not an acceptable resolution because I had guest arriving within the hour. The owner came out personally to speak with me. After I explained the situation, he worked with me to determine acceptable substitutes for the items that were out of stock - providing more expensive replacement items at the lower cost. He also refunded my deposit to make up for the inconvenience. As always the food was delicious - plantains, cabbage, jerk chicken wings, and jerk turkey wings. Jerk turkey wings are my husband's favorite and did not disappoint. As a matter of fact, they were every one's favorite part of the dinner. My brother in law is a cook (BBQ) in south Georgia who doesn't particularly like turkey and he loved Wavez jerk turkey wings. No one is perfect. Mistakes happen. I ordered lunch one day and the attitude from behind the counter made me nervous about eating the food. Found this place in my GPS looking for food and I thoroughly enjoyed. It's very clean inside and the food is already prepared which made lunch on the go a breeze. The jerk isn't too hot like most Jamaican spots which I love because sometimes the spice can be overbearing. The collards were well seasoned and she put curry juice on my rice which was delicious. I saw no health score; I always look for the health score. I ordered a small Brown stew chicken, rice and peas, collard greens and plantain. The portion is huge! My Husband ordered his usual, a large curry goat, rice and peas, collard greens and plantain. We both ordered a cream soda as well. Our order came to a little over $24. Amazing price for homemade food and the portions. My chicken was flavorful, seasoned and falling off the bone. Rice and peas were spot on, and my collards were aldente and not over seasoned. My gravy had beautiful and colorful bell peppers, my peas and rice has little traces of thyme sprigs. I felt and tasted the love in my food.
