Welp,Today I deleted the wawa app from my phone. The last visit I would ever make to wawa/this Germantown location because of its unintelligent demographic of employees they choose to hired here. I went in used my rewards up and brought extra items. All methods of pay have been used before and caused no problem before. For whatever reason,their system did not want to register my payment methods properly so it took some time for me to get in & out the line. A ignorant unintelligent black employee decided while helping someone at the Self serve register to announce very loudly about my choice of payment method & that's why I was holding the line up. Me & the other customer were in 2 different lines meaning I had nothing to do with holding him up. Why was he so loud & felt the need to announce that,Idk. Maybe he's one of those mentally ill employees that needs supervision. Also most likey has alot of self hatred for himself. Shoutout to the manager,she'd handled the situation with maturity while being calm which made me calm & patient. Outside of that, the demographic they choose to hire all have bad attitudes. No matter how many times they like to rotate employees, it's either a hit or a miss with how sandwiches & other food are getting made. Drinks are also a hit or miss,with either being done right or watered down because staff member is tired. With all these bad reviews I really wish less ppl would frequent this store and company. That's why the store still exist,just stop giving them your money and let them die out. It's only a matter of time . As for me,I am done giving them my money. Too many unintelligent ppl making my food. I don't have enough energy to deal w/the bs while at the store. Then wait til I get to my location to open up my food to see if it was done correctly. During night shift, The employees move soooo slow like there is nothing else in the world they have to do. I can't believe how slow the service is every time I come to this location at night. It's typically way too many people working the same shift for service to be so slow. Someone please re-train these people. Also at night they won't let you go in. So you have to wait at the window. Yelp wants to know if I recommend this business, and so do you. My answer: it depends. On: - time of day - what you want - how you want to order it - how you get there I'll start with the worst case scenario. You order a weekday lunch on the app and plan to drive there to pick it up. 4 reasons why this is the worst: 1) App is terrible. Every time you want to order you have to go through the process of selecting the store even if you only ever go to one. I added a few favorites and now that option appears missing, no way to add/edit favorites. You'll choose what time you want to pick it up but rarely if ever will your order be on time. 2) A late order may actually be good because the second issue is there is little to no parking on weekday afternoons so you'll need extra time to park. The parking lot is small, there's a few extra spaces behind the store. It's a total traffic jam with cars blocked and idling all over trying to get leave or park. Part of the issue is Allen's Lane. The traffic backs up for more than a block and it's almost impossible to get onto that street. Better luck driving out to the Germantown Avenue exit. Lack of parking may also be due to all the people that take food to their cars and sit there and eat. Yea, many people treat their car in the parking lot as a dining area. I also see cars with no visible handicap signs in the handicap spaces. 3) The inside is just as packed with people as the parking lot. It's a SMALL Wawa. Very small. Unusually small. There's certainly no gas pumps here. It's like a mini-mart really. The shelf to pick up your order is at the intersection of the checkout line, customers shopping, and deli workers coming and going. 4) That late order may be even worse than you think. I've stood waiting for my order for 30min, only to see my order was sitting unlabeled by a register. Someone missed it and never placed it on the shelf. And this has now happened TWICE. If the food is getting cold it's going to be even colder after the length of time you wait to get your car out of the lot. The small size also means they don't have as much variety of things. Sometimes the deli computer says they have it but then you're told they actually don't. Also don't forget to give money to the revolving door of homeless people that have somehow made it out to Chestnut Hill. I assume it wasn't a homeless person that jumped over the register to attack workers though. So DO try and get parking. DO try and get your order on time. And don't get stabbed. Last I checked, this Wawa, supposedly 24/7 was closed at 11pm every night. Not sure why. And not sure when that will end. But, be warned the doors may be locked if you're hungering for a midnight meal. read more

Sandwiches and staff making them were very good, which is the only reason this location is getting two stars. I went on a weekend around 2:30pm for a late lunch. Not sure who does the staffing, but while there were two cashiers, and 2-3 people working the sandwich counter, there ended up being literally a 10-15 customer backup for food. The staff were busting their butts to hurry, but they were overwhelmed. I probably waited about 15 minutes for a sandwich and they apologized, but I know it wasn't their fault. Someone needs to help these employees out. read more

This WaWa sucks! That is the best word to describe it. I'm not sure if there is a new manager that just doesn't know how to manage staff and make sure that appropriate amounts of stock are ordered but lately it just sucks. WaWa is basically a philly institution so it's the go to place for a quick lunch or snacks. This WaWa is always out of stuff. A couple of days ago they ran out of bread and an employee was walking around telling other employees NOT TO TELL THE MANAGER THAT THEY WERE OUT OF BREAD! Isn't that something u share with the manager so that the manager can see where the break down happened and why stock was low?? Maybe they can make a deal with another WaWa to temporarily fill their stock of bread so that a riot doesn't ensue when someone can't get their hoagie!? Today my husband went in there to get some lunch and they were out of pickles and tomatoes. They didn't even have the basics of a good hoagie! When I opened my paper wrapping it was soaked in mayo and mustard, couldn't even taste the other toppings. This WaWa is always dirty, the staff isn't particularly nice, it's exhausting getting asked for money and change as u come and go, and it's just not a good WaWa. So I'll be going over to the Flourtown or Willow Grove WaWa from now on. They are just better anyway. read more

This used to be a fairly reliable WaWa. The employees were generally friendly and the store was clean and usually well stocked. The panhandling aside, it was a decent place to go. For a wawa, this is a pretty big disgrace. I love wawa markets, I think they are some of the cleanest and best organized convenience stores in the country. This location however is not appealing in anyway. Unfortunately, this is the closest wawa to school and the only one in the chestnut hill/mt airy area so I'm pretty much forced into this shack, and yes it's a shack. While being the smallest wawa ever conceived, they made it feel even more cramped by putting their useless displays everywhere and having a layout such that forces people to climb over each other to get what they need. And, it's dirty. I don't know if it's because of the sketchy clientele that passes through the store who bring in their filth and have no respect for the store, or if it's the fact I've never seen anyone inside clean a single surface. Unfortunately my stress level rises with the filth. I have never had a good sandwich from the deli which is disappointing, not to mention it takes them forever to make a simple hoagie. Unfortunately my love for wawa makes me feel obliged to give at least a 2-star rating. But I don't like going into this sketchy, filthy, cramped, debacle that they call the mt airy wawa. read more

The Wawa chain is a semi-recent discovery for me and I generally really enjoy them. They have everything... and great coffee. This one is one of the dirtier, ickier ones - They have a huge selection of coffee, but aside from that, everything seems a bit old, dusty, musty and yuck. I frequent here because of the location and the coffee only. Generally speaking, Wawa is great..... and their ATMs don't have fees regardless of what bank you use! Yay! read more

This Wawa is so small and tight. The food is too often not prepared well and made without much care. The cleanliness is lacking and it can be difficult to maneuver due to how small it is. However, they usually have items available to grab quickly. I can say that lines are quick--I'm usually in and out. The employees are often unfriendly and is devoid of customer service training. I have lived near this Wawa since birth and I will probably always love wawa. This wawa is not perfect, I sometimes get an overly soggy sandwich or sometimes a messed up sandwich order. Also sometimes the customer service is not 100%. That being said, there are clearly alot of really good staff people working here and are friendly and overall helpful. This Wawa is the worst. This evening, I ordered a hoagie with many compliments and got home and saw my hoagie had none of the compliments I ordered... lettuce, tomato, jalapeño, spinach, oregano, or grated Parmesan. The 2 girls behind the counter making sandwiches looked miserable and were visibly eye-rolling and mumbling at my order which is so unprofessional and such poor customer service. This visit was much better!!! My caramel cheesecake smoothie was on point!!! He even put the caramel inside the cup. I'm getting tired of being scammed by the thee guys hitting up customers for money, at this, my neighborhood store. Recently, I gave in, as one guy said he was hungry. Naively, I bought him a healthy sandwich, along with my purchases. He accepted it, but as I sat and watched, from my car, he just put it beside him on my the sidewalk. About five minutes later, he got up, left the unopened sandwich where it was, then wen to the other side of the entrance, where 2 others were waiting for handouts. It seemed one of the guys, his hair in a man bun, covered by some type of metal hair " adornment", was perhaps the ringleader. The other two deferring to him. I will probably go out of my way, to another store, if these guys continue to "operate" at this store. read more

This is my local convenience store. The place is open 24/7 The ATMS are no surcharge (yes!!!) They place really, really cool music! (OK, so I just glanced over at Simon E.'s review of this same WaWa and he says the vibe is upbeat, and that is def. true! Friendly staff who seem happy to work there! And getting a wave in the ALWAYS packed parking lot is indeed a common occurrence.) Gripes: Parking. I never even try to park in the front lot anymore. I either walk to WaWa, or if I am driving, I park in the back lot. Yes, WaWa has a second lot, behind the store. Almost always an open spot. Often times, there is 5-10 open spots back there. Gripes continued: Often there are panhandlers. Not really WaWa's fault, I mean we are talking Germantown Ave, in Philadelphia proper, it is a reality. There have not been any aggressive panhandlers since 2014, so this is not a concern really any longer. Major points for: *seasonal specialties! I look forward to autumn for the pumpkin cannoli dip and chips! I also dig the apple cider donuts and to a lesser degree the pumpkin donuts. *Prices! Everything is reasonable! Some stuff is cheap! *Selection! Good choice for candy, chips, snacks, healthy snacks/protein bars, drinks, etc. *For the MASSIVE VOLUME that the store does, the lines usually move very fast and efficiently, and 2nd registers open up lightning fast when they are needed! *The store is clean from my point of view. It is a busy, busy store, but I never see any mess on the floor or coffee station or food station. I do not eat any of the hot food. Low quality, I steer clear. For a convenience store that is open 24 hours, WaWa is awesome! Does this one have a bathroom? I never used it, I never checked....but maybe there is no bathroom for customers there! Maybe it is around back? Hmmm. I would avoid using it anyway. Also, this WaWa could never have gas pumps, traffic is already congested between Allens Lane and Mt. Airy Avenue along Germantown Ave. (Between WaWa and the Bank of America on the corner.) Overall: This place is awesome based on the music selection and friendly staff working 24/7. This is my neighborhood Wawa that I frequent daily. That doesn't mean I like it, it's just convenient. Little parking that is always full due to the busy location. You are always greeted by panhandlers before you even step into the place. Sometimes there's even ambulances and police out front for some reason or another. People are packed inside a small location like sardines in a can. I hope you don't need to use the bathroom because there isn't one. The customer service is sometimes there (I'm familiar with a few people up front) but normally not. I feel like the girls behind the sandwich station are always rude and unprofessional. I understand working in food service can be overwhelming (I do it too) especially at a busy location, but you have to be nice. Food quality is hit or miss. I feel as though popular menu items with few modifications are made well but as soon as you order something they don't see as often, it's most likey to be ruined. I have often received wilted lettuce and sandwiches explosive with mayonnaise. Does the "little bit of mayo" mean nothing to you guys? Sometimes I receive something completely different from what I ordered. Just last week I got my fiancee a chicken tender hoagie for dinner and the chicken wasn't even cooked! They are always keeping it interesting. Today I walked in sad that hoagiefest has come to a close but siptopia is here so I thought I'd treat myself to one of those fancy beverages I never order. It's good to try new things, right? Treat yourself a little bit? It looked great when I got it but tasting it was a whole order story. Either the coffee they used to make my drink has been sitting out for a few days or they haven't cleaned their machine in weeks, maybe months. I drank what I could because I needed the caffeine and now regret it because I feel sick. I plan to stick to the basics and you probably should too. Prepackaged food is fine. I'm not a philly native, so when I heard raves about a convenience store I was skeptical. I have to say their coffee is outstanding to me. Always hot and fresh. The sandwiches are good and they make them FAST. The only problem at this location is the tiny parking lot. It is always jammed, but you can park in the back. Luckily I walk there when I go most of the time. The staff does a great job of keeping the throngs of customers moving through here quickly. The touchscreen ordering is key. I go for the coffee, pretzels and meatball subs. read more

Here's why I like going here: the vibe is always upbeat. Maybe because it's always pretty packed, but it seems like I get the door held for me more often than other places and I get the polite 'thank you' wave in the parking lot as people are maneuvering in and out of the spaces (it's always crowded, but I always get a space). Inside, it's busy but the lines move. Otherwise, it's the usual Wawa experience, which is fine. And I like to support a company that is local to Pennsylvania. First off, let me say that when you compare WAWA to the other convience store chains they clearly outshine everyone and get a solid five stars overall. That said, I am to evaluate each store on an individual basis. This one is a tad too small for the volume it generates. If you don't get killed in the parking lot (either hit by a car or your car hit), you encounter a crowded store. Amazingly, they do get move rather quickly, but it is still rather frustrating to wait for the poor one or two people stuck behind the sandwich making area to get your order done. I can't tell you the number of times I've sipped on my coffee while waiting on line. The cashiers are nice and the place always smells of baking rolls and crisp newsprint. Busiest Wawa ever. Parking is usually a pain. The staff is nice and I have never had a problem at the deli. My main complaint is the panhandlers. I can never come or go without being asked for money or a Pepsi and m&m's. Today, however, I felt slightly threatened by the guy outside who kicked and spat in my direction when I walked by. They need to be moved along. FYI..I used to give $ all the time til I was at the bank and saw a panhandler empty a duffle bag full of change , about $80.00. The teller said he did it 3x a day.
