I hate it when someone tells me "I love my esthetician, her bikini wax is painless" I'm calling BULLSHIT on that one. Every bikini wax hurts despite who does it. Daniella's however if the FASTEST most thorough bikini wax in the city. She is in and out of there in 10 - 15 minutes flat. I love it, you barely have time to think about how painful it is. But her speed is not the reason for the 5 star review. She was able to relieve my dry/flaky scalp in 2 visits. Something my dermatologist was unable to do in half a dozen appointments. Prior to Danielle I was a bit of a waxing whore. I went to whoever was available, newest salon etc. No more, I'm a one esthetician woman now. She has my undying loyalty. read more

Although I would rather keep Daniella to myself, the guilt has gotten to me... Yes, she is superb, and so is her staff. I highly recommend Daniella for any hair removal or skin care need. Efficient and compassionate; she loves eyebrows, but treats your face as if it were her own, and will not do anything that you don't want her to do (although she *will* present a compelling reason to do it her way). Magnifying mirrors are a pretty wicked invention. I mean - what is their purpose? make us feel awful about our pores? shriek like little little prepubescent little boys at the full sight of that pimple on our nose? In my case a trip to Sephora in search of an eyeliner quickly evolved to SOS Eyebrow wax. Phone: out. Yelp: to the rescue. Criteria: wax services around Michigan and Ohio. Found: Daniella's. And here I am torn. I had a great experience, without a doubt the most thorough eyebrow consultation I have ever had. Daniella explained to me what was going on with my brows, their defaults, how to correct them and maintain a good regimen. She even made me hold a mirror so that I could see with my own eyes what she was talking about. She is using great quality products (French, I am just sayin') and takes her time. Eyebrows frame the face and she takes her business seriously. That's all wonderful. But it's also $35. When you are used to pay FIVE TIMES less money that leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth, a knot in your stomach, sweaty palms and a racing heart. And great looking eyebrows. The million dollar question: is it worth it? I will respond with a cautious yes. She told me to come back in four weeks and to not touch anything in my meantime. Then it would be every six weeks or so. And possibly a little tint in there. She wants my brows to get to their full potential, à la Hope Solo. It's the middle of summer and I had no trouble making an appointment. Of course, my schedule is pretty open, so she might be busier in the evenings. Everyone there was super nice. Daniella was very thorough and fast. She explained everything and made sure I was comfortable at all times. She didn't force me to buy anything that I didn't need/want which was awesome. I also like the way they can call you every three weeks to remind you to make an appointment. I never thought I'd have such a good time getting the hair ripped off my naughty bits! After reading all the rave reviews, I booked an appointment with Daniella for a bikini wax and eyelash tinting. Since the appointment desk had given me good directions (enter on the Chicago side of the building!), I had no trouble finding her office. Daniella greeted me at the front desk, shook my hand, and explained the pre-waxing cleansing protocol that she uses for antisepsis. Once in the treatment room, she asked me exactly what I was looking for and then proceeded to give me a very quick, thorough, and relatively painless wax. Daniella was extremely professional, and I felt comfortable with her and the procedure throughout. The Guinot cream she applied afterward was also very soothing, and based on the reviews here, I got my own bottle to use at home. After the waxing, she did a lovely job tinting my eyelashes. The entire length of the lashes was tinted, and the product barely stung. While my lashes were processing, she noticed that my eyebrows were a little overgrown, and she gave them a quick clean-up. She also noticed that my T-zone was a little oily, so she applied a mattifying lotion that is still controlling the shine six hours later. I believe her next appointment was a few minutes late, so she had a little extra time to spend with me -- and she's not the person to waste any time! I was looking for suggestions on the right products for my skin, and she gave me a great little lesson on the products, the right techniques for applying them, what quantity to use, and how to get every bit of product out of the tube. She even demonstrated facial cleansing techniques on me, herself, and the girl at the front desk! I walked out with a sweet little trove of samples, and the firm intention of getting a facial when I return for my next wax! Waxing is not a walk-in service or at least it shouldn't be nor would you want to pick your esthetician out of a phonebook. I was so glad when a friend recommended Daniella to me. She's honestly the best at what she does and this is not something I take lightly. On that note, I am telling you if you've even had a mild curiousity about getting yourself waxed (in whatever place) you are better off going to a seasoned pro than a neighborhood nail dive. Daniella's Skin Care provides the most relaxing experience possible for procedures that can be... anything but. Her receptionist is friendly and professional and always calls to remind you of your appointment. Once you are in, Daniella is very detail-oriented, thorough and is always giving you tips on your skincare needs to make it less painful. She carries Guinot products and is very knowledgable about them. In addition to waxing, her services include sunless tanning, eyelash/brow tinting, electrolysis, and facials. My biggest problem with this place has nothing to do with Daniella. It's that there is no parking near the Magnificent Mile. You are better off taking public transportation. read more

I've been to many estheticians for bikini and eyebrow waxing and she is by far the best I've ever had! She creates her own wax and has a very quick and less-painful technique to removing all of your unwanted hair and preventing ingrown hairs as well. I have been going to Daniella for over 15 years for Brazilian waxes. It's a shameful I'm only just writing a review. She gives the best wax in town. She's quick, she's efficient, she's clean, and she really, really knows what she is doing. She is really fast, and yet does it so perfectly. And she's a great person. She also manages to keep things affordable. You really can't go wrong. I've also had electrolysis done on my face (chin area) and it hurts, but Daniella is a pro and knows what she is doing. I went to Daniella twice for Brazilian wax and Daniella is the first person I went to. and I love her! As some reviewers said, you'll undress while Daniella is preparing for wax. But if you're willing to have your under hair waxed, you cannot be embarrassed to undress in front of her, correct? Waxing was not painless. But she does her work really quickly and she talks to you a lot, so it was all okay. She is super efficient. I've been a regular waxer since the age of 16, thanks Mom :). In my humble opinion, waxing, especially in the bikini area is NOT something to do on the cheap or easy. I've tried a few different places in Chicago and have chosen to stay with Daniella. She's all business, very knowledgeable and sweet as can be. She was recommended to me by a handful of friends who see her for facials, brows and bikini waxes. Her studio is so sterile, it resembles a med clinic. That should make you feel comfortable. As other reviewers have noted, Daniella is extremely fast and skilled. The place was clean and the location/hours were convenient. No complaints at all about the wax. However, I probably won't be going back because I was really put off by her sales pitch. Yeah the Brazilian is cheap, but she makes up for it by giving you the hard sell on these overpriced Guinot products. Throughout the wax, all she talked about was the various products I HAD to buy. Afterwards Daniella walked me to the shelf, threw down a handful of products (at least $50 each) and the woman at the counter started ringing them up. Daniella was talking really quickly the whole time about how I needed every one of them, and how next time I needed to buy 3-4 more. They didn't even ask whether I agreed to buy them, it was just assumed that I would! Afterwards I said I didn't want all of them, and the woman at the counter gave me a shocked and annoyed look as she had to recalculate my bill. I saw her do the exact same thing to the woman who came before me (poor gal ended up with about $300 in products). I wouldn't recommend going here unless you're either prepared to drop serious money on products, or can withstand some intense sales pressure. read more

She's by far the best waxer in the city! I used to go to her regularly, but it just hasn't been convenient for me or my schedule. I do miss her. I can't tell you how many other waxers I have been to and while I may have found maybe one that's even close to Daniella (in terms of thoroughness), she's still by far the best! Quick and thorough. I had a bikini wax here a couple months ago, and I give it four stars because it lasted. But the pain...oh the pain...made me see a lot more than four stars! Probably no more than at any other place though. Apparently something was lost in translation because I requested a Brazilian but ended up with everything gone. The waxer woman said she'd misunderstood my request, and by the time I realized it, I was half bald down there...so there was no going back at that point. She is the best waxer I have ever been to and I have been waxing for 6 years! She is extremely fast so it seems to go really quickly and you hardly notice the pain. I'm so delighted, and relieved, that I found Daniella--I go to her a lot for electrolysis: an increasingly rare skill (--unfortunately for me!) For the first time ever, I feel like I'll see the whole process through (no fear that I'll end up with the Frida-Kahlo mustache; yikes!) Daniella's whole personality and approach are the opposite of those high maintenance, incredibly well-made up aestheticians or technicians you sometimes meet in spas or salons (and who always intimidate me). She told me once that she doesn't ever wear any make-up while she's working because she never wants her clients to feel anything less than reassured and at ease in her company. So Daniella ventured, but after I'd been going to her for ages, that it would really help my face if I had my eyebrows waxed--something I've never done. Because I trusted her by then, I agreed--she was right; it was a great improvement (I see that another review mentions that Daniella loves to work on shaping eyebrows; absolutely right! But I would disagree with the reviewer who says that Daniella peddles the Guinot range; I've never found that.) What is also great is how spotless the entire place is; clean as a whistle (I had a waxing once in a less-than-spotless spa; ew!) But I went to Daniella with a friend (who has been going there for years) on a dare, and have continued going to her for almost a year. Waxing is amazing. I will never shave again. I've been getting Brazilian bikini waxes for more than 8 years now and I've gone through all the various places that provide these services: the local neighborhood skin care/facial shop, the pricey spa, etc. and I have to say Daniella is brilliant. What used to take my old waxer in San Francisco 30 minutes to do, Daniella does in 5 to 10 minutes. I have been going to Daniella's close to 3 yrs and she is great!!! She is fast and the price is unbelievably reasonable. I've been getting Brazilian waxes from her and it takes 5-10 minutes for her to do. I don't even think it ever reaches 10 minutes. I have recently moved out of Illinois and I can not find anyone that I can trust and good like her. Everyone I have talked to here said their ladies take 30 minutes or longer to do a Brazilian wax and it costs 3 times as much. I am soo sad I can not go to my Daniella's.
