My tech didn't wipe me down good post sugaring which is an issue as I was very sticky until my next shower that day. I've typically had good experiences with Sugaring NYC, but my most recent interaction was disappointing. At my December appointment, I scheduled my January appointment in person and also participated in their Christmas raffle, where I pulled a 20% off discount for my next appointment. On Monday, January 12, I received a call informing me that my Wednesday appointment was no longer available and needed to be rescheduled. Since the change was initiated by the studio, I was offered a 30% off discount for the inconvenience. I reminded the representative that I already had a 20% discount from the raffle and asked if both could be applied. I was told that discounts could not be stacked and that I would have to choose one. I was also informed that the 20% discount could only be used in January, despite the fact that my January appointment was canceled by the studio. Additionally, the person I spoke with was not a manager, so I requested to speak with one. She took my information and advised that a manager would reach out to me by the end of the week. I understand that businesses have policies, but this situation was frustrating because I lost the opportunity to use a discount I had legitimately earned due to a cancellation that was out of my control. Better communication, flexibility, and follow-through from management would have made this a much better customer service experience read more

My Brazilian /arm /underarm /eyebrow wax with Isabel was great! I've been coming to this location for almost a year now for just Brazilians and yesterday I had Isabel for the first time. Well I had an appointment on a Wednesday evening unfortunately I had to cancel . I called and spoke with the receptionist, she rescheduled me for the following day in the morning. I arrived at Sugar Inc. on Thursday morning for my scheduled appointment at 10:30 AM. I was told that I did not have a appointment but I had a confirmation on my phone. I was told to have a seat and someone will be with me at 10:55am .. it's 1040 and I see a client walking in for appointment which she was scheduled for at 10:30 so that means that I would have to just sit there for the next 30 minutes and wait I politely went to the counter and asked the young lady to cancel my appointment however, I find it interesting. That companies can charge you for canceling an appointment but don't take responsibility when they make a mistake. Yes, I was wrong the previous day however they are wrong today so I shouldn't be charged if they can cancel on me the same day. I asked to speak to a manager about this situation. They gave me her email address and the receptionist said she's she called the manager and the manager said that she would look into my profile so now you're checking profiles before actually doing the right thing totally dissatisfied. I've never done sugar wax before and have only previously ever done hard wax once so I'm kind of a wax novice but Tay took INCREDIBLE care of me. she perfectly toes the line between being professional & friendly in a way that made me feel immediately comfortable. I could tell she was very knowledgeable & she explained the process in more detail and covered the differences between a hard wax and a sugar wax. She provided recommendations without pushing any products which I really appreciate as well. If you book an appt for a full brazilian, she'll start off doing a bikini wax in case you change your mind which I think is really considerate and smart!! She's also super funny and makes conversation which helps you forget about what's happening. I just think she's so great and I'll definitely be back and rebook with her! I notice that my skin feels a lot smoother and less irritated after sugar wax in comparison to hot wax. If you're worried about pain, I'd recommend taking a pain killer or finding numbing cream for your appointment because it definitely hurts, and I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I realized mid wax that the reason I don't keep a consistent waxing routine is that I'm afraid of commitment. I am not one to frequent the same establishment more than once or twice. Variety is the spice of life and what's spicier than a one wax stand with a cute esthetician? I just KNEW that Monica was going to be one more notch in the ole waxing belt and I was going to move on to someone who hadn't seen my sensitive side and my even more sensitive side, if you know what I'm saying. She did the whole routine, "It's not so bad if you're consistent. We can establish a routine." Yea yea. Sure Monica. But then Monica suggested I take a break and check out the merchandise. My God....she was nearly halfway there and I hadn't cried yet. In fact, we were talking about Lizzo and I actually forgot to stop breathing and wait for her to torture me. Continue, Monica. I was SO excited to find this place because I've been wanting to try Sugaring. I booked an appointment for the same day at 8:30pm. Because a friend was with me he decided to come too and booked an appointment for the same time. We got back from an event and walked over from our apartment building. Because we were walking, we got stopped at a few stoplights/crosswalks and walked in the door at 8:36. We then had to wait several minutes for the receptionist to get off a phone call which she took off hold as we walked in the door. When she hung up she said "oh, I was just about to call you" and explained that they consider you a no show after 5 minutes. Now, to be fair to the business, I did go back and check and this is listed in the policy when you book, so I'm the idiot here for not reading carefully enough. However, every other salon I've ever been to has had a 10 minute grace period, especially in a major city when it can be difficult to get somewhere right on time due to transit, traffic, etc. and as we all know, things happen. She then explained that no one would be able to see us that night because they close at 9 (though it's worth noting that they do book 8:45 appointments according to their web site) and we would have to reschedule for another day and handed us coupons for 20% off our next visit. As a first time customer who was excited to support a newer business in my neighborhood instead of traveling farther out of my way to go to a European wax center, I would have thought that they could have said "hey, in the future, we only offer a 5 minute window" or could have called or notified us at the time of the appointment that we wouldn't be seen to let us know not to bother walking over. I have no interest in returning and will unfortunately have to find a different salon, which is such a bummer as I really was very excited to try this place but the whole experience just left a really bad taste in my mouth. read more

I've been getting waxed and sugared for over ten years and, while it's certainly not pleasant, it's never been this painful. It was a quick appointment (Brazilian and underarms in under 30 minutes) but hurt so much that I won't be coming back. It wasn't even the hair removal that hurt but the application of the sugar itself. My skin is now super irritated and sore from how hard the aesthetician was pushing during the application. I would have given this place 4 or 5 stars because of Ulyssa's services but the facility has some major issues. Ulyssa did an excellent job, explaining the process and aftercare. But... I have been waxing for 10+ years and never been to a salon that doesn't provide any cover, wrap or drape for once you undress. There was just a thin disposable cover on the table to lay on and nothing to drape over myself will waiting for Ulyssa when the door opened. I find the very unprofessional especially if this was someone's first time experience sugaring more sensitive/private areas. There were also ceiling tiles missing that was exposing pipes and light fixatives missing covers. It felt that the places rushed to open before the faculties were ready. I will go back to give it another try and happily change my review if facilities are fixed. read more

I am SO excited to have this in the South Loop!! I have always wanted to try sugaring, so I was happy to see this location open up so close to me. The inside is cute with a chandelier and pink everywhere - between that and the friendly staff I immediately felt welcomed and at home. I got my eyebrows done today by Ulyssa and she was so great. My first experience with Monica was amazing!!! This time around has me scared to return. The original esthetician I booked with had me waiting for 20 minutes.... it wasn't until after those 20 minutes that the the receptionist said something. She gave me 20 % off my service, and someone else serviced me. This new tech was not friendly or welcoming at all. I was serviced on 08/10. I waited so long to write this review in hopes that it would get better, but my Brazilian wax still looks horrible. It feels rough to the touch and so bumpy. There were so many things that went wrong here. I have a piercing down there, and she kept saying that she was scared to properly wax me. First red flag. Then, I said "sorry I'm a sweater" and she responded, " I can see that". She is definitely not professional. Also, she went over the same spot so so many times. Then, she didn't apply pressure after each pull, which made the pain so much more intense. She was so insensitive! No wonder my skin appears damaged. Lastly, she completely rushed my appointment. At the end of the wax, she said "ok I'm done with your wax" and left the room. While she was out, I checked, and she left a whole strip of hair on the side of my left labia and seemed annoyed when I pointed this out to her. No aftercare instructions or nothing ! 0/10 would not recommend Jakeda. This was the worst experience I've ever had with a service provider. read more

I have only gone to the Lincoln location once for a sugar wax, which i had an amazing experience. I came to this location for a lash lift and tint. I had an appointment at 1pm I get to my appointment a couple minutes early check in and sit and wait. At this point it is already passed 1 pm and I am still waiting. I then see my SUGARISTA then casually stroll in from going to the stores, and I then wait several more minutes when finally, she calls me to the back. Seeing how not only this location by town is down and parking is impossible, and you are paying for parking. I don't think it's fair that as a client you only have a 5-minute grace period to be late, but your sugarista can be late. After the entire process is done all, she says is ok your done and that's it. She never explained to me what the aftercare process is and what I can and can't do regarding face wash, lotions, make up, water etc. I looked at the results and was not happy at all. It looks like my 3yr old son put mascara on me. Very disappointed with the results and not what the website described or showed at all. I will definitely not recommend this service or sugarista which i think her name Crystana. read more
