I was in the area and tried this place after a recommendation from a friend. It's a place she frequents with good prices and figured I'd forgo my usual spots for the convenience. It was during this visit that I REALLY learned why it is important to stick to what you know.    I got three services: a chocolate bikini wax, eyebrow threading and upper lip wax. The only one that went right was the upper lip wax.    Eyebrow threading - I woke up with little scabs underneath one of the brows. This has never happened to me before. I don't have a lot of eyebrow, let's get that clear, but I do know they could have been shaped better. Other places I've been too may take an extra minute or two to make sure the shape is perfect. This was super quick and you can tell.    Bikini Wax - I get this type of wax all the time, I've got a wax lady and god do I regret cheating on her. The lady literally left me bleeding. I have NEVER bled before. And she had the audacity to tell me that my skin is sensitive and that this is normal. Maybe it is, but I have definitely never bled before. Like... what the hell?! The wax wasn't even super clean so I had to go back in a day or two later to fix it up a little.    Safe to say I will not be going back and I genuinely couldn't even try to pretend to recommend it. There are other places with similar prices that I'm sure will do a better job. read more

This place is horrendous. The worker took off the end of my eyebrow, making them completely uneven, and when I brought it up to her, she tried saying it was already like that. She also took off a huge chunk at the top which she then said it was like that too. It absolutely was NOT like that. She didn't care whatsoever. Ok, was in a bind and needed a waxing. Came here based on other reviews and they were not wrong. Vish was working and she is so great. Her sense of humor and personality, especially for this...worth the 5 starts alone. Played great music, allowed me to be silly on a few of the "pulls", and was just so very kind. I would recommend coming here for facial waxing (brows and lip) as that those are the only services I have had here. My friend however gets threaded and has always had a positive experience. There is only 1 employee working here at a time so sometimes a line builds up, however the services are so extremely quick you will be right in and out of the salon. While the shop doesn't have many bells or whistles I have no complaints on the cleanliness or quality of service. read more

Not a great customer service experience I got a lovely half set groupon for $12 that looked very natural. (about 11 lash each side). I asked for two more lashes each eye that i offered i would 'pay extra' for. When we wrap the woman charges me $15 for these extra four lashes! !!! That to me was just robbery so no tip for me and won't return. SMH read more

This place is no-frills, but it was the best wax I've ever received. It was super efficient and high quality. The technician there is VERY skilled. My arms are so irritated from them waxing. They left my shoulders raw with tiny little pimples. They use the same waxing rollers on everyone. When I asked them about it, they offered to clean it but instead just put baby oil on it. I was skeptical as soon as I walked in. The lady wasn't patient and I was in so much pain. She used one wax strip for my entire arm. My arm is super hairy like long hair that's never been waxed or shaved. It was my first time! Seemed like she didn't care about my experience. Her colleague did my moms henna and it also came out terrible. This place has gross conditions and should probably get new more clean and organized owner. read more

I have to update my review to comment on the chocolate wax. *This is in NO way a comment on Nikky, who is fabulous and very nice. Beware that chocolate wax is not for everyone. At first, I thought I liked it better and the scent is AMAZING. But the hair grows back twice as fast as other wax + strips. So even though you are saving money on one session, you spend just as much overall and more time traveling back and forth. Also, I am not sure if my skin is not compatible with the chocolate wax, but I have been getting more ingrowns with it, which has never been an issue before. I unfortunately had to switch waxing studios because it's a hassle for me to keep traveling down to Astor so often, but I will definitely miss Nikky! read more

UPDATE!!!! NIKKI LEFT!!! Just got out of my wax and was told Nikki no longer works there. The place still seemed busier than ever and Shalou was still there. She does a great job, goes quickly, but does not miss a spot. I have my loyalty card that makes my waxes $18 however they increased the price and the new loyalty cards make Brazilians $30 (I believe). They said that anyone with an $18 one would still get there waxes for that price...so we are grandfathered in!! Also overheard they would be opening up another location in Manhattan...location TBD! Would still recommend it and would def try it out! read more

Ok I've been here a couple of times so this isn't a one time bad review. This is me giving this place multiple chances and they still fail me. If you read the other reviews they're right it's quick and cheap but it is not worth it!!! (Brazilian wax) You pay for what you get honestly quick service that does not cater to you! They wax in all different directions then your hair grows back in all different directions. Honestly this service is so quick because they want you to be in and out to get the next customer. During the wax she goes so fast that even if it hurts she doesn't give you time to relax before she continues. the wax is too hot so after it's over Im literally swollen. The customer service is just bad. I told the girl Im paying debit so I put my card in and she legit goes to press what amount of tip I want to give!!! Who does that??? honestly that turned me off the most. It's like she legit fought me to press a higher amount and got visibly upset with an attitude when I didn't let her. So I don't recommend. First time getting a Brazilian! She was very patient and took care of me well! Very pleased with my service.

There were a few pros and cons about this place but I left satisfied in the end. I was in the area and I really needed to get a brazilian wax before work. I yelped some places around me for a wax and I decided I should check out this place. I did not have an appointment so I gave them a call. I asked the lady on the phone if an appointment was required if I was to walk in within the next hour. She told me that an appointment would be recommended. I told her I really would like to come in in 3o minutes, she ended up saying yes. I was having a bit difficulty getting there because of traffic and parking but when I finally arrived .. I found the place, small spot, 4-5 seat waiting area, 2 chairs for eyebrow waxing & what not and two very small rooms with beds for private waxing, facials etc. Not exactly a "waxing studio", perhaps leaning towards a waxing hole in the wall. As I arrived, the two waxing technicians were busy with clients inside the room. During the next 5 minutes, about 7 more girls came in needing some business done. Wow, this place was popular. It was busy for two technicians to handle. I'm quite sensitive, so I was glad when I found out they use Gigi's chocolate wax which is for sensitive skin.They definitely do not double dip, they use a small plastic container to pour out wax during your service. When I went inside the room to get settled in, the "sanitary bed liner" was .. uh not changed? There were stains on the "new" sheet. I was not very pleased, I teared it off and made sure I was laying myself down on a clean surface. The technician came back for me and she was quick, fast and very unyielding with yanking my hair. Good thing I was sort of immune to the pain. During the process, your legs would need to be raised and spread open and whatnot and there was literally no space in the room for that because of the small place. Might be a little problem if you have claustrophobia. After the process, I found out that they use baby oil post wax but I would rather use aloe. Baby oil causes ingrown hairs and pimples for me. The process was really quick. I also noticed that they would would wax a client's eyebrows in between each client that goes into the room, that makes me hesitate and think twice about getting my brows done here because I would not want my brows to be rushed. Yelp has a 40% discount if you check in on Yelp. They also have a good offer on Groupon you might want to check out. The tax and tips are not included within the Groupon price. They take appointments by your phone number & everything is just written on a piece of paper. Overall, you get fast service and great prices here so I won't mind the small place and definitely be back for a any type of waxing except my brows, that's something I might not let them touch. read more

Amazing staff and extremely courteous. I scheduled an appt for a brazilian, underarm wax, and eyebrow threading. Do not buy the groupon!!! Call them and ask for a special or tell them about the groupon. They will make a deal for you! That's my opinion! The brazilian was quick and I highly recommend going here if you are a first timer or low pain tolerance because it'll be over in no time. I've had Brazilians in the past and dragging out the process doesn't make it any better. Underarm was a first for me and it was quick. I have a high pain tolerance however it's something about that chocolate wax that makes it better than traditional wax. It also helps that the aroma of chocolate is in the air. This was my first ever eyebrow threading. Let's just say threading is uncomfortable but also quick. They do a great job at shaping and cleaning the brows. While I was there a woman got her brows tinted which I've also never done. Let me tell you that they looked phenomenal! If you want perfect brows without doing them in the morning get them tinted!!!! I have been missing out! Overall the pricing is great, staff is friendly, and service is quick. The place is small and cozy. I will definitely be going here again. Review about Brazilian wax experience: If you are wary of the low prices, don't be! At first I wondered how they could get away with an $18 Brazilian until I found out that this place is brand new (2nd location of the same business since the 1st one is nonstop busy). so they are attracting clients with the super low price. After a while it eventually go up to a still very reasonable $30. So go while you can snag the great deal! She might even grandfather you into the special. I had waited to get waxed for a while since it's so expensive, which means my waxes usually hurt more. A lot of girls get stuck in this predicament so this place is smart. They charge half of what other places do so that you go regularly and eventually it's way less painful and you are smoother most of the time and you spend about the same or less in the end. Genious! About service: Nikky is very friendly and welcoming. She explained why they use chocolate wax (hurts less!) and all about the shop. She was efficient and quick, making sure the temperature was good. We chatted about New York and the beauty scene, and all in all it was a 20 min service! One stick used and no gloves, just FYI. One improvement I'd suggest is to offer an option at the end for aloe gel or analgesic cream like at some other places, since baby oil makes me feel sticky. One thing I advise is do not come here expecting a fancy wax center because it really is a hole in the wall. However, they have a lot to offer and Nikki is super nice and knows what she is doing. I came here for the first time yesterday as per my roommates recommendation. Its not fancy or cute, but it's definitely clean. For larger body parts, they use sugar wax in a bottle with a roller which are cleaned with alcohol. For smaller parts (including brazillians), they take an individual serving of wax in a cup & toss it after. The 18 dollars brazilian wax is a steal. Store very flexible with walk-in and same day appointments. However, I personally felt that the chocolate wax was more painful + less stronger than other types, so be on watch for some extra pain. Maybe I'll try the Cream Wax next time! read more
