She's one of the sweeter and more personable waxers I've come across, and I've been getting waxed for years now. I liked the type of wax she used and was impressed with how near painless the whole ordeal was (as near painless as a Brazilian can be, anyway). It could have been the wax or just how Alyssa did things, but regardless, she is both quick and thorough. I'm definitely coming back to her, and I highly recommend her as a waxer. Other notes: Alyssa's place has ample parking in the back lot, and it is located inside an airbrush tanning studio. She's also still transitioning into the new business and is currently only booking for weekends. Imagine that. Chelsey literally saved my brows. She is so meticulous and careful so they always come out great. The first time I got them done by her she left small spaces where my eyebrows could grow in. After the next few sessions, eyebrow hairs had filled in and eventually I regained my shape. I can literally follow the progression in photos as they improved! I don't feel like I have to fill my eyebrows all the time like I used to, and its all because of her. I'm so grateful. Depending on the style of waxing studio you choose, some opt for hot wax with strips, some for hard wax that gets ripped off, some a combination depending on services. Hygiene and sterility are important, especially with not using the same stick, used to procure wax, twice. So many factors! Regardless of wax type, the most important component is obviously the skills of the aesthetician. I am so happy that I found Chelsea! She is professional and thorough. The task was not simple... In the past, 8 weeks of growth could equal increased pain and increased length of time. Chelsea is very skilled, using a combination of waxes for the Brazilian including hot wax with strips for all but the sensitive areas. For the prime sensitive area, she used hard wax and created a handle out of the wax, to avoid picking the wax off piecemeal. This is one of the risks you could take with a less trained aesthetician, as well as repeated waxing over the same area multiple times.Thankfully, Chelsea did not do either of these things. Perhaps she waxed the same area twice total? It didn't hurt nearly as much as it should have given the amount of hair. She coached me on when to take breaths to minimize pain and she was fast! It only took approximately 30 minutes to do a Brazilian and eyebrows. As she said, "no one wants a slow Brazilian." So true, Chelsea! So true! Fast is not always best if there is any sacrifice to patient comfort, but again Chelsea ensured this was NOT the case. She was clear with her instructions and I was comfortable. She was absolutely hygienic, reminding me (the nurse who started to do this prior to her advisory) not to touch the skin where she waxed to reduce risk for infection/transfer of oil. She also educated me and offered tips for exfoliation. Read through other reviews about her skills with eyebrows. She shaped and fixed my Bert (from Sesame Street) eyebrow into two happy arches. It is conveniently located on Camden right off the freeway in the cute Head To Toe Salon. Walking in was pleasant the place was very nice, staff was very welcoming. Sokie was extremely nice and made me feel comfortable and right at home. Her waxing room was so cute, nice decor, very clean and had a home-y feel (if that's even a word lol). Sokie made the experience very pleasant, she was very professional and very thorough which is a huge plus especially when you are laying there letting it all hang out. I have had a Brazilian once before but it was nothing like what I experienced here. She uses hard wax which does not require a strip and is a lot easier on the skin, it was a lot less painful then expected. She made sure everything was completely bare, not one hair in sight!!
