I had a very disappointing experience during my recent appointment. The technician arrived 11 minutes late and, to my memory, never introduced herself by name. When I politely asked how much longer it would be, her response was snippy and unprofessional. She even asked, "Why? Do you have somewhere else you need to be?" I explained that I had another appointment and would need to call and push it back. Her only response was an annoyed sigh. I had to decline an originally planned part of my service because the new product (an only option) used has something I'm allergic to in it. Throughout the service, she barely spoke to me and only offered to count down halfway through the wax appointment. It was more painful than usual and felt very rushed. Her overall demeanor made me feel like she was annoyed to be there--or at least annoyed to be working with me. To make matters worse, it has been two days since my appointment and I have not received any follow-up survey, which is usually standard. This is not the level of professionalism I expect, and it made the entire visit uncomfortable. I doubt I will return to this establishment and will definitely decline service from this technician. read more

Thank you Emily for refunding me my money after the girl behind the front desk did not know what she doing. I am an orange club member with Waxing the City. I asked the girl at the front desk twice if she had applied my credit to my transaction, both times she reassured me it was. Alison, the girl who did my wax also said it was applied. But...As soon as I got in car I checked my bank account and my receipt, I was charged full price for everything. She girls at the front desk did not honor my orange club membership. I walked back inside...about 30mins later I received a text from Emily saying she had fixed it and would see a refund a few days later. All of this could have been avoided if the girl at the front desk knew what she doing. Oh! And they did not offer to set me up for a future appointments. Last week I went to Andy for a Brazilian wax and it was one of the best waxing experiences I've ever had! I was in town visiting my parents for the week and had a free hour, so I called Waxing The City to see if they could fit me in last minute. While searching for a waxing place, I stumbled across Waxing the City. Initially it was the Dallas location but this location opened about six months ago. They always send emails about opportunities to get waxed by someone who is in training to become an esthetician. After months of not responding to any of their model calls, I decided to call in one day. The day I wanted was booked and the next available days I was unable to make an appointment because they conflicted with my work schedule. After being on the wait list, I began to give up the idea of going in. But then I received a call from Jennifer and she offered to put me on the list for yesterday. I made my appointment and came in early to fill out paperwork. That process was really simple and seamless. Megan was my waxer and she was very friendly. She was easy to talk to and she was great about attention to detail. She even took extra time with me because she wanted the wax job to be to my satisfaction. First time I went was great! Second time, not so much. I won't be back anymore. Both times I got a Brazilian wax & underarm wax. The first time, it was great & they honored the 50% off the service(whichever one cost most) and she took off 97% of my hair. The second time, a lot of areas on the Brazilian were clearly missed and because of this, I have to Shave. I realize this of course when I went home and looked. For the price you pay to have a Brazilian, no spots should be missed especially long hairs & causing you to not even have to wait it out to shave. Which I am going to have to do now. I'm not going to continue to pay $65 for wax that still leaves a good amount. (Without going into details). Not worth it. I'm giving 1 star for my first visit, 1 star for the customer service & 1 for cleanliness. -Not worth it. Hair still left on that shouldn't have been (-2 stars) that's the whole point of going here. read more

Review on underarm wax only: I believe I saw Miriam and the service was great. Wax was painless but I have done wax before and I am use to it. What I enjoy is how detailed they are with the wax. They pull the magnify mirror with the light so you can see all the little hairs. Yikes! So I came out super smooth. Conversations as nice and easy never forced. In total service was about 20 minutes max. The reason for the star loss is the price. Granted I used the 50% promo for first time users. But $24 for underarms is a bit hard to justify. Waxing the City is easy to find and located in a great area of South Lake. The facilities were clean and up to date. The girls working all seemed nice and like they were really on top of their game. Mariam (98% sure that was her name) waxed my legs. She has been waxing for a very long time and indicated that it is a true passion of hers. I found her to be very knowledgeable and informative about tips and tricks that would help me to get the most out of my wax. This was by far the least painful waxing experience I've had too! Due to it's close proximity to my work, I intend to be back in 4 weeks for another leg wax. I was a little apprehensive about waxing after having an "omg I would rather swim in a pool of electric eels" experience with a home waxing kit ages ago. I selected this place based on the reviews and I wasn't disappointed. I was met with a friendly receptionist where I filled out a brief questionnaire for being a new customer. I received the 50% off first discount, yippee! I was introduced to my aesthetician Jasmine who led me to a clean, quiet room. I told her I was there for a Brazilian and that it was my first time. I asked questions about how she planned to do the waxing procedure and her experience. She answered all of my concerns and put me at ease. Jasmine was sweet and professional. I had done a fair bit of research about Brazilian waxing and was happy when Jasmine explained Waxing the City used hard wax which is better for the skin and is far less painful. She talked to me throughout the process, making sure I was comfortable, asking me if the temp of the wax was ok for me and she kept up a great conversation. She definitely kept my mind off the waxing and it was over before I knew it. The Brazilian took about 40-45 minutes from start to finish and I was pleased with the results. For anyone contemplating having this done, I highly recommend this place and I especially recommend asking for Jasmine. This was a great first time experience!!! read more

Don't do it Men! Never in the 10 years that I started getting my eyebrows waxed has a person/place been so bad at trimming or even correcting the issue. One eyebrow was taken up higher than the other, completely destroying its original shape. How did she not see this!! One brow was longer, with more hair than the other and now my eyebrows are up higher, ahhh!! They fixed what could be done, and didn't even offer a refund! No Manager in site. read more

Just finished my first session here for a lower leg wax & underarms & am very pleased! Evelyn was great at her work, the pain level was relatively low but then I wax/sugar pretty frequent, so I know what to expect. But Evelyn made quick work of it without making me feel rushed, she's very personable & friendly & that always helps pass the time with some casual conversation to keep your mind off of the waxing. The salon itself is pretty cool, very modern & welcoming, & Olivia at the reception counter is just as sweet as can be. I read previous reviews about a "no tipping" policy but they have a sign on the front desk that says they heard their clients & they now allow tipping if you wish to add an extra "thank you", which I never mind doing when I receive quality service! And the 50% discount on your first visit (highest priced service) is a lovely welcome indeed. Had my first brazillian 4 1/2 weeks ago and am very pleased with the service. April was my cerologist and she was very nice. She worked in small increments and took her time to do a good job. I absolutely love this place! I've been going for about 4 or 5 months now and I have never walked out disappointed. Everyone is supper sweet. I would recommend that you set an appointment online or by calling just to make sure you get in at the time you want because I have been at times that they seem like they are pretty booked. I've been seeing Kourtney for a while and she does amazing on my eyebrows and all other services that I have done. Ohh and the wax has to have some sort of magic in it because it is almost painless. After so many horrible experiences getting a quick eye brow wax at the nail spa... I finally decided to try Waxing the City. I went to yelp and my fellow yelpers suggested Amorette Perez so since she was booked up for a couple weeks I waited it out. I AM SO HAPPY I DID. Amorette is not only an awesome esthetician because she's so gentle and patient, but she is THE sweetest person. Waxing used to be an anxious experience for me but now that I go to Amorette it's so relaxing, almost spa like!!!
