Best fast food burger I've had in a long time! As close to Homemade burger you could get, Juicy, full flavor, great sized portion burger that does not leave you hungry an hour after eating. Burger gets a 5 star The sides I had, onion rings and fries, were a little undercooked May have just been my luck and didn't eat quite as quick as I should have since I couldn't get enough of my bacon cheeseburger. Very well decorated and clean. Good food. I had the A1 Steakhouse Burgers and some chili fries. The chili was a little bland but overall everything tasted good. Counter service. Out the door my bill was under $20. They have lots of burgers, including some unique flavors, and other handhelds such as cheesesteaks. They have shakes and salads. I enjoyed it. One last thing - they have a rewards system that you have to enroll in via a QRS code that's epically confusing. I couldn't figure it out. So don't feel dumb if it stumps you too. read more

After four years of not returning, I tried it again. Both of our burgers tasted very good. The tater tots my wife ordered were also prepared properly prepared and cooked. My onion rings tasted fine and probably were good for my diet because they hardly had any batter. Time will tell if I go back. read more

In town from Louisville, Kentucky on a work trip and spotted Wayback Burgers across the street from the Drury Inn so my co-worker and I came here for dinner. This is a fairly basic burger spot, with plenty of seating and several burger options. They also have chicken tenders, hot dogs and several varieties of milkshakes on the menu. We both got the single patty burger in added our own toppings. Both of us were happy with the size of the single and agreed it had a good flavor. We didn't add fries or onion rings but we both indulged in a milkshake. A black and white for my co-worker and a cookies n' cream for me. The milkshake is incredibly filling and will throw you over the edge if you've already had a bunch of food! If you are watching calories, the menu is very transparent on every item including things like mayonnaise, ketchup and other condiments. Everything adds up! The service was also extremely friendly. We didn't go to the register right away but took menu to the table to decide what to order. The associate at the counter very patiently went over options and specials with us, and shared specials coming up later in the week. The reason to be at a four-star review has more to do with the atmosphere. The music above us was really loud and I found it distracting during conversation. Also, the ventilation in the building isn't great. The burgers are made fresh and this accumulates smoke and the smell of grease in the building. After sitting in there for a while I begin to question if my hair and clothing smelled like a Wayback Burger. If I was going to a destination after eating, this would make me think twice about eating here. Definitely see this being a good spot for families given the variety of options for burgers and sides. Was looking for something a little different than the usual stuff. Thought this might be it, but, not quite. Food was good. I got a cheeseburger with bacon, lettuce and tomato. Side order of fries and a drink. Burger was good sized, on an egg type bun. (Yellow bun) cooked right and had good flavor, moist, but not sloppy greasy. Which is good. Tomato had a good taste, not like some that look good but have zero flavor. Fries were, well, fries. Not greasy. They were fresh and hot. But nothing special. Place was clean and not too noisy. I've been on a bit of a burger craze lately, and just been continuously disappointed. Steak and Shake, 5 Guys, Red Robin, Wendy's all disappointing. So Wayback was a breath of fresh air. The burger was fresh and juicy, unlike anything else I'd had recently. A pleasant surprise, almost a shocking reminder that making a quality burger isn't that hard. Fresh beef, cooked right, is delicious as all hell. The bacon, cheese and Cajun sauce didn't hurt either. Too many places think you can hide a crap burger with the extras (you can't), here they accentuate a great burger. My only complaint was my tater tots were undercooked. Update: I have spoken to the manager and he was unaware of how his team preformed and by no means do they reflect what he wants his business to be. I try to eat here when in town. The food is good and fast. Tonight however the employees are completely out of control and rude to each other. I'm always excited to try a new place for burgers! Menu was small and easy to navigate; I ordered a burger and tots and my boyfriend ordered a chicken sandwich. Staff was friendly, but not very professional or organized. After we had paid and ordered the staff let us know they didn't have chicken and it was still frozen. He opted to then get a burger. Person at the counter was polite and helpful - rang up my order two different ways to ensure I got the least expensive total for what I wanted. I also got a hand-dipped milkshake. Okay, so I usually never have had a bad experience at Wayback, but tonight was bad....my boyfriend and I ordered Wayback....he didn't want a burger so he ordered chicken strips and mac'n'cheese bites. He was asked for a dipping sauce for the strips and he chose ranch. I ordered just a regular burger and fries and a unsweet tea.....then we also ordered milkshakes to complete our order. Well when the food got here my boyfriend didn't get his ranch that he got charged for and our food basically fell out all into the bag as if it was all just lazily put in there and our milkshakes were like water...I was also given sweet tea instead of unsweet. read more

Visited the Evansville location 8/20/17. Terribly disappointing. Being close by made it an easy late night choice. Getting the order took nearly 20 minutes for 2 single cheeseburgers and fries. Ingredients were fresh, but the cheese should have been melted. Get a double burger, the bun completely overwhelms a single. Maybe grill the bun, too. Fries had a weird after taste, only had a few, then gave up on them. The saving grace was the chocolate shake, which arrived almost immediately. I can see why the original, old school McDonald's would put a place like this out of business. Overall, the Wayback Burger should have stayed there. read more

I'm not sure where to start. It took 4 people 25 minutes to make three burgers and two orders of fries. My total bill, including a shake was $29. On top of that, I apparently got someone else's order too, because when I got home, there were 5 burgers, 4 fries and an order of chicken strips. My shake was made by the person at the cash register who took my order. I got it within 4 minutes of ordering. Then it sat there for another 20 minutes. My family and I placed a large order online ($100+) , burgers , chili cheese fries and a kids meal. Personally I had the Philly Burgers and Chili Fries, both were quite horrid. Mushrooms were overcooked and the edges were hard. Burger was overcooked as well, very dry. Chili Fries were decent but very little chili, looked like maybe a teaspoon worth of chili on a full size order of chili fries ($4.99) This past evening we decided to have Rally's, pretty much the same sized order , 2 burgers and fries each , saved $40 and was a much better burger and Rally's is not stingy with the chili or cheese!
