Omg! I finally got the chance to try Mr. D's. From the moment I arrived in Henderson my friend has been talking about how great the burgers at Mr. D's are. Today was the day I finally got to try one. Upon pulling in, it puts you in the mindset of Sonic. You pull up, press the button, and place your order. The menu has a variety of options which adds to the individualistic approach of this spot. Due to the menu it's more than just a burger joint. I decided to get the Bacon Cheeseburger Basket with a Sweet Tea! Babeeeeeeeeeeeeee. When I tell you this Sweet Tea was THE BOMB!!!!! I'm talking steeped, sweet, and refreshing. It definitely satisfied my sweet tea desire and that's not an easy task. LoL. The Bacon Burger was an experience. The beef was quality meat, well seasoned and perfectly grilled. The bacon was thick sliced and well done. The fixings of the burger were fresh and didn't make the bread soggy. Furthermore, it was just the right amount of lettuce and tomatoes... The burger didn't come with condiments on it so make sure you ask for them if you desire. The fries were crinkled which is my personal favorite. They were crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. Golden fried and good all by themselves. No salt or ketchup was needed. Mr. D's was a mouth pleasing, hunger satisfying experience. I'm glad I had the opportunity to try it out and I definitely recommend if you're in the area and in the mood for a good burger to stop by. I came to work here from Texas and wanted to try out the local places and found this place. This place is great! They have low prices and great sweet tea! The service was nice and friendly. I would highly recommend it if you get a chance to swing by. read more

We recently ordered our standard Wing Dinner, however we did not receive what we ordered. Typically, a wing dinner is 4 WHOLE wings. Instead, we received 5 party wings which is the equivalent of 2 WHOLE wings. We were NOT told the substitution would be made at point of sale. For reference 4 WHOLE wings would be the equivalent of EIGHT Party wings ( 4 flats-4 drummies) They were bagging up FIVE (drummies and/or flats) and calling it a day. I called and was told they received the wrong wing order, party wings vs. whole wings and they were now sold out of the party wings, and it wouldn't happen again. Doesn't change the fact that we were shorted, and we'll give Mr. D's a break for a while. They should have let us know at point of sale they did not have what we ordered or at least given us the equivalent which would have been EIGHT party wings. The food IS good, but little cheats like this with no communication turn me off. read more

#1 Please do not order their onion rings, they are the worst! I've never had flavorless onion rings. The actual onion has no flavor and the batter has no flavor. When you decide to eat one, the batter ends up kind of forming a chalky taste in your mouth and you are left with no choice but to spit it out #2 I also ordered the Philly Steak sandwich, it was so salty that I tried to warm up some cheese I had around the house as a dipping sauce to mask the saltiness and that didn't help at all. This place used to be so good, but now it's terrible. I used to order their chicken only, but I don't order their chicken anymore because it's so salty... it's not spicy as it once was just salty and dry. read more

Mr. D's has got the best fried chicken and good coleslaw! They've got great milkshakes. They use real fruit in their milkshakes. I love their breaded tenderloin also! I haven't had anything that wasn't really good before. read more

When making your way through the alphabet, be sure to stop at the 4th letter in and try Mr. D's on the southside of Henderson. I confess, this isn't my first time here. I've visited this Henderson institution pre-Yelp, numerous times, but this is the first time I've been back since. It hasn't changed much in the last couple decades. Reminiscent to a Sonic, a drive-in style order system, fairly made-to-order food brought directly to your car window. Their specialty is spicy fried chicken. Wonderfully crispy, moist and tasty chicken at that, using Colonel Jim's recipe which is a mainstay at several restaurants in this area of western Kentucky. Burgers are good too, so is the Oreo Milkshake, so says my youngest. He's fairly discerning. I trust him. Unless he's talking about whether he's finished his homework. Darn. Forgot the picture. Have been stopping by here for years but haven't been there in a couple months stopped by today looking for my usual double cheese burger special and was disappointed to find it was a completely different burger and bun. Not even the old school toothpick in the center of the bun that use to come with it. Burger patties were smaller and had a consistency and taste completely different from what I was use to in the past. Was just not very good. Different bun smaller in size also. With the economy tanking as it is I'm sure these changes are aimed at cost cutting. The price of the special has risen two dollars in the last two years. Won't be going back anytime soon. read more

Finally ate here for the 1st time ever, after all these years of passing by. I had the mushrooms and i have to say.... they are the best fried mushrooms i have ever had in my life, and i've had alot. They tasted so homemade, and the batter was kinda spicy and excellent. read more

Had higher hopes, it was perfectly acceptable fast food fried chicken. A bit bland considering the mentions of it being spicy. Neat drive in restaurant, don't see that sorta thing much these days. Strawberry shake was pretty awesome, but I have a feeling I'd of done better with a burger. read more

Time has stopped on Mr. D's. The sign's special (Double cheeseburger with fries, large drink) hasn't changed in the past decade, the neon is growing old, lightbulbs are missing around the edges. Yet the food remains as good as when I was a child. Mr. D's offering of deep-fried delectable dishes has remained consistent in quality throughout the years I've occasionally eaten there. The burgers are great thin-patty fair, the spicy fried chicken remains my favorite in the city. The staff is friendly and quick on their heels. If you're not afraid of a few carbs, Mr. D's is a great affordable lunch/dinner option on the go. read more
